The Messengers will not live on past season one. While not surprising, it is a bit of a bummer. The good news is that the show's creator said all episodes will air and it will have a satisfying conclusion. With that being said, I vote we treat the show as if it were a mini-series and just enjoy the ride. Last week's episode, Path To Paradise ended with Raul's brother being killed after The Man intervened in his battle with El Jefe, Peter was arrested for the murder he committed in the pilot and Vera had her rock stolen and learned the reason why Michael's father really left her. Also, the search for the Horseman of War got really confusing.
Hangin' out at Walter White's house with a bunch of strange people you never mentioned before. Kinda begs the question, what the hell?
Get ready for another road trip this week, down to Austin. Joshua, who hasn't slept in days, has another vision of something a bit more personal it appears and he is trying to sort it out. The top of the hour we will see that the ragtag group of Angels is starting to warm up to each other with Rose acting as Mother Hen. Which means as the Mama Hen that she is going to try to find a way to get Peter out of his current situation. Meanwhile Vera is still her skeptical self, trying to test out her spirit walking and understand how these gifts really work. Rose thinks that others should head to Austin to figure out what's going on with Joshua's vision while she stays and tries to get Peter. Vera points out that Joshua's vision is pretty personal and that Joshua Sr. is telling everyone Joshua has a history of mental issues.
Before Vera can do anything though, she is confronted by Alan who is trying to figure out what is going on with her. It won't be the first time that Alan just shows up this week, questioning Vera.
Raul and Erin! Fans of the pair will be pleased as they decide to ride down to Austin in the same car! There are even cuter moments as the two go undercover to make sense of Joshua's vision. The Horseman will be revealed, and the team has to find a way to stop an assassination plot from happening, which would trigger the horseman and break the first seal. It's really cool watching them use their gifts and work as a team, probably one of the strongest parts of the series. It's a crunch for time and with so much at risk, will

I assumed this would be an episode focused on Peter, but we also get to learn more about Joshua as well. He turns to his outcasted sister, a therapist, for help because he has really lost his way with their father, something he feels they have in common. It's Josh's conversation with his sister that sheds some light on his past and just how lost he is. For someone who raises a lot of questions, I'm surprised to see that Vera is committed to the mission this week, even using her gifts to try and find the horseman. Of course,
The Man is already one step ahead of our heroes as usual. It looks like it's Peter's turn to step into the sights of
The Man as he poses as Peter's court appointed defender in his attempt to...(What is it he is doing exactly?) I'll go with eliminate him. His words have an effect on Peter that send him on a path that he has gone down before. Clearly if anyone needs therapy it's Peter. We get to see flashbacks to his first suicide attempt and the situation surrounding it. Thankfully Rose will be able to get through to him and the two of them plot Peter's escape. Could his sentence be downgraded from 30 years to 30 minutes?
While there is still no big reveal of how exactly
Jennifer Griffin's Eliza figures into all of this, the episode does end with her once again and I have my theories about what I think she is and I'm curious as to yours.
Why You Should Watch:
The Messengers is sticking around all summer so is there really any reason not to enjoy it. This week's episode was actually quite good, and I really liked how the
Horseman of War was revealed. The cast seems to have found its chemistry as they work as a team or just have some quieter moments and it fits well into the episode. There wasn't much from Nadia this week, but I have feeling from what we did see, there will be something happening with her in the future. All in all it's a good episode that really moves the plot forward and sheds some more light on who these people are. That is the one thing that I know I have really enjoyed about the past couple of episodes, how they have been able to shed light on each of the characters past while they deal with the issues of present day. I'm even more excited now that wieght of a renewal has been lifted and we know we will get a definitive ending! That means I can really just sit back and enjoy the show, there really isn't anything like it currently airing and that makes it special, so don't let anything deter you from hearing the message of
The Messengers.
