The Marvel Comic Universe Is Dead

6 May 2015

With todays release of Secret Wars #1 the Marvel Comic Universe along with the Ultimate Universe has come to an end.

For the past few years, Marvel has been running a story involving their parallel universes. With the universes beginning to collide into each other, the residents of those universes are battling it out for survival. Beginning with The Ultimate Universe and the Main Marvel Universe.

With the universes colliding a new world has been formed, Battleworld. With everything going on, characters will finally have to face the fact that they could die at any time. Comics will be exploring their final days along with the events taking place in each Warzone.

At the conclusion of the event, a new world will be born from the survivors of this collision. Who will live? Who will die? And yes, some have already died. Rest In Peace.

For those wishing to catch up and follow the event, Marvel Unlimited is roughly 6 months behind the current comics and provides an easy way to read and catch up.

Lets just put some Ms. Marvel in here to make everything better.

  2. Kamala is the best, she is one of my favourite superheroes right now.

  3. Well its not technically dead as some of the comics are still wrapping up storylines before they go into the Secret Wars verse. I personally just want the entire event to be over with, comic big events annoy me, the only good thing to come from this is that Miles Morales is going to be in the main comics verse now.

  5. I just realized the true symbolic nature of blowing up SHIELD-616 last week on Agents of SHIELD.

  8. I'd started recently as well. I began with the SHIELD comic book which is close enough to the show that I don't get completely lost and that allowed me to get my feet wet in the main continuity. I'm now working on Ms. Marvel and Hawkeye. Marvel also has Marvel Unlimited. Think of it as Netflix for comic books.

  9. God, I wish I was a Marvel fan. This sounds so, SO epic, but I couldn't get into none of their works (except for Daredevil). Either way, sounds awesome for the fans!

One might say they're having a CRISIS.

Marvel has a subscription service called Marvel Unlimited which is effectively Netflix for Marvel comics. http://marvel.com/comics/unlimited

It doesn't have everything. But pretty much anything from 2007 onwards is available and they've been going back and adding more and more past titles each week. I believe everything from the 70's is now available with stuff from the 80's and 90's being added now.

As for where to start, take a look at 'Marvel Now!' (2012) and 'All-New Marvel Now!' (2014):
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvel_NOW!

Both were intended to be a jumping on point for new readers coming from the movies. I suggest subscribing to Marvel Unlimited and taking a look at various titles. Eventually you'll find characters, writers, arists, ect that you like and can go back and look through their back catalogue of works.

Well Marvel can't legally call it a Crisis. Its more of a predicament. A Predicament on Infinite Earths.

  14. I know part of why I said that.

What annoys me is the fact that I feel like I have to buy every comic Marvel puts out during the event just so I can know what's going on.

  16. Yeah its really frustrating, I just really don't like big events because they interrupt the regular comics so often.

  17. I remember hearing that this was happening...

I do wonder if they'll ever do a "secret wars" movie in the MCU...

  18. So basically Marvel's gonna merge the two universes to create a fresh new continuity similar to DC's New 52?

  19. I just stopped buying Marvel, ill come back after the event is over.
