Turns out The Good Wife will be down two full-time cast members when it returns this fall: Matthew Goode will not be back as a series regular in Season 7, TVLine has learned exclusively.
Goode’s exit follows the departure of Archie Panjabi, who made her final appearance as Kalinda in the May 10 finale. However, while it’s unlikely Panjabi will resurface in the near future, I’m told there’s a chance Goode could make a guest appearance or two.
The actor’s status change was hinted at in the aforementioned season-ender, which saw Finn reject Alicia’s (Julianna Margulies) offer to join her nascent law firm.

ReplyDeleteSeason 7 is sounding more and more like a joke. Could I be any less excited compared to the same time last year? Maybe if they bring back Elsbeth for a bunch of episodes but without Kyle Maclachlan's creeper character. Or bring Marissa Gold on full time. Or give Diane and Carey all the screen-time instead of shunting them aside again.

ReplyDeleteI'm not surprised because he has a gig on Downton and the way Finn rejected Alicia's offer seemed pretty clear cut but I am disappointed I liked Finn.

ReplyDeleteI am so upset Finn is leaving the show. I love the chemistry between him and Alicia. I always wanted it to be further explored. I wonder how they'll explain Finn's absence in Alicia's life.

ReplyDeleteI feel the exact opposite. I was more worried for season 6 since it followed the spectacular fifth season. Since this season will most likely be the show's last I'm sure they're gonna fire on all cylinders for those last 22 episodes.

ReplyDeleteSame. I didn't think he was going to be able to do both shows, and Finn's goodbye was pretty definitive, but I am sad about it and now I can't help but feel like they underutilized him considering he had so little time on the show.
ReplyDeleteWow...so now they've lost 3 great characters since last January. That's a shame, and I really liked Finn. Maybe it's time for them to start giving some of the other characters like Cary more screen time

ReplyDeleteAnd maybe it's time for them to stop giving characters and actors who end up leaving the show screentime which they could have used to do more with actors who won't go anywhere, since they have contracts for seasons 7/8 (Like Christine Baranski and Matt Czuchry for istance), but who were sidelined in the 2nd half of the season instead.
ReplyDeleteIf a character is popular with the fans, then that character either leaves the show or gets less screen time. It is the all Alicia Florrick, all the time show now. No one is allowed to take attention away from Julianna. There is definitely a pattern.
