Thanks to bbussey for the heads up.
TVLINE | What was your reaction when you saw the script where Iris learns the truth — and that it was going to stick?
I was so relieved. I was relieved for me, and for all of the fans who’ve been waiting so long for Iris to find out. I was relieved for all the haters [Laughs] who just thought Iris was stupid and would never find out. I was extremely excited to film this episode, and then for it to air.
TVLINE | It’s got to be hard to play The Last One to Find Out — did you get any tips from Arrow’s Katie Cassidy?
No, but I probably should have! Because I don’t think I was aware of how difficult it would be to play that kind of character. I just assumed that it’s a part of comic book series — you always have that Lois Lane/Iris West/Laurel Lance character — so it’s necessary, right? And other shows have dragged it out for much, much longer. We were almost afraid that we were going to be revealing it a little too soon. So to see people upset that Iris didn’t know right away, it was a bit frustrating. It was hard to be the last one to know.
TVLINE | Lastly, what can you tease about the season finale (airing May 19)?
I know it’s typical to say, but the season finale is going to be epic. It’s bigger than 15 (aka the tsunami episode), it’s bigger than 20 (last week’s “The Trap”)…. We wouldn’t leave the season without something where people are going to walk away with their jaws on the floor. And it’s a season finale that a lot of people aren’t expecting. I think people have an idea where we’re going, but I will just say that it’s probably not what you’re thinking.
TVLINE | Is there a cliffhanger, lives in jeopardy…?
All of those things. All of those things, yeah.

This show is so much fun. Except for Batman, not a huge fan of comics or super heroes so I have been pleasantly surprised by how entertaining this ride has been.
ReplyDeleteLooks like there will be time travel shenanigans in the finale. My only wish is that Harrison Wells continues to be a full time regular in S2. Amazing antagonist and brilliant character.
She’s going to continue to be conflicted about her feelings for both men-You're starting to sound more like Elena on TVD,girl!LOL!
ReplyDeleteHey! At least they are not brothers. Nothing could be worse than that. ;) :)
ReplyDeleteVery true.Despite the unnecessary hate Iris gets from the fandom,i think now that she finally knows barry's secret, her character will become integral to the main SL and not look like an outsider trying to get inside scoop as a nosy, clueless reporter!
ReplyDeleteCandice is such a sweet girl, why can't sge transfer that to Iris? At least so I can see it, cause the fandom is quite smitten with her.
ReplyDeleteLets see how she develops further, especially now when she knows
Please. Don't say that mean thing. :(
ReplyDeleteI was joking.I love Candice!
ReplyDeleteSometimes it feels like there is an unwritten TV rule somewhere: "On any given show, thou shalt hate at least one female character" And much of that hate is irrational and immature.
ReplyDeletehahaha i was being sarcastic
ReplyDeleteFor SPN,the rule is-Thou shalt hate every female characters!
ReplyDeleteAnd many an awesome female character was sacrificed on the alter of this rule. ( I still mourn Bela Talbot)
ReplyDeleteConsidering some of the debates I've been a part of with the shows I watch lately, this is sadly very, VERY true. It's really annoying.
ReplyDeleteTrue, Bela was awesome, kinda sad how she ended up on SPN but she deserved it.
ReplyDeleteLightening rod?LOL-What a weird name!No offense.
ReplyDeleteIt works in context. Basically the idea is Iris and Barry's love for her grounded him and kept him from losing himself in the power of the Speed Force.
ReplyDeleteIt's still season one. She's not to Elena territory yet.
ReplyDeleteI love Candice. Not so much this little piece of interview but w/e.
ReplyDeleteI love Candice. She's awesome. Same for Iris. I don't get all the Iris hate. I do however agree that the whole "keep her in the dark to keep her safe" storyline was dumb considering EVERY other person in Barry's life knows the truth. Oh well, that storyline is basically over. Now we just need Barry to come clean to Iris about it and officially end it. I love this show!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize people hated her, my only complaint is that she seems disconnected from everything.
ReplyDeletefeels like Charley is the longest lasting female character, even though she seems to have been on less than the others.
ReplyDeleteAnd now she'll be included from here on out. You'd be surprised to see how many Iris haters are out there. They're crazy!
ReplyDeleteShe gets hate? I mean, I know that some people don't think she's the best character, but are we talking like "I think she's one of the weaker characters on the show" hate or like serious, Laurel season two of Arrow hate?
ReplyDeleteRacial hate among other things. You get the picture!
ReplyDeleteWell problem is Eobard Thawne is a psychopathic monster it'd be very very hard to justify his continued main status. You could find some bs way to introduce the real Wells to keep Cavanagh around. But it'd be a completely different character, and Cavanagh revealed that he only took the role because he got to be Thawne.
ReplyDeleteIf he goes, I will miss him. Terribly. :(
ReplyDeleteAs will I. He'll be around once a while though. He's Barry's greatest villain.
ReplyDeleteI like Iris and I love Candice. But to say Iris is disliked just because she is not in on the secret is really laughable. They never explored her career as reporter. They would give her one scene where she is suspicious of someone from STAR labs and next four episodes only looking into her feelings for Eddie and Barry.
ReplyDeleteI know there has been irrational haters against Iris. But she and Eddie are the two inconsistently written characters on the show. So some dislike is genuine. Anyway now that she is in the know of the secret there is no excuse for anyone of them to write Iris badly.
Ah. Well that sucks a lot. Although it might explain a couple extreme reactions to some comments I've made about Iris not being the best developed character. I'm assuming this is at least in part to do with the fact that Iris West was white in the comics? Because I don't remember this being an issue with other characters in either show ... although I may have just missed that, too.
ReplyDeleteCarefull what you wish for. What if Eddie turns out to be an adaption of Malcolm Thawne/Cobalt Blue. Then they really would be brothers.
