Studio City - Warner Bros. Successful in Shopping Show Elsewhere

Thanks to darkness for the heads up.

After FOX surprisingly passed on musical dramedy pilot « Studio City », Warner Bros. Television may have successfully shopped it elsewhere…

The OC meets Shameless US written by Grey’s Anatomy’s Krista Vernoff and starring Eric McCormack, Heather Graham and revelation Florence Pugh was the most surprising no-go of this pilot season since it was red hot at FOX during the whole process. It was briefly eyed for a midseason launch but FOX definitely passed on it a few days ago. So Warner Bros. Television did what they often do: they tried to shop it elsewhere. And this time, they may have succeeded!

There’s no word yet on which network (or cable channel? Or streaming platform?) Studio City has landed. Feel free to speculate! Details are being kept under wraps for now, since the negotiations are still going on, but an announcement is expected within days. The cast should not change, with actress Diane Farr joining.

    but if it ends. It should be good, dont oyou think? the show has 6 seasons and it gonna have a propper ending, it's not that it's gonna come all of teh sudden-

    Ohhh so glad for EM. He really seems to love it. I love him since his W&G days, he was brilliant in Perception as well.

    Hmmm my guess is cable but wouldn't be surprised if ABC takes it.

    Glad for this show, biggest mistake for pass IMO. I hope it got picked up by NBC, it would pair amazingly with The Voice.

    There is no need for that. If this 13-episode arc works, I could see that working for the show and CBS going forward. Because of the serialized nature, a straight-through run could work well. Plus, CBS will have a lot of real estate available after this season: MS, TGW, Elementary, H50 along with at least two new series (Code Black first) will be gone. Add in CM (contracts as always) and if the Cyber reboot fails and I easily see a place for POI going forward.

    I would love it even better if it was brought to cable because there are certain content that is not allowed on broadcast TV, IMO.

    I sincerely hope it continues in a shortened format of 13 episodes but this is CBS we are talking about. Zero trust in how they will handle POI.

    Yeah a cable netowrk would be better and would allow them to stay true to the shows theme and go all out on it.

    EM was hilarious as Will. He really gave the show a lot of soul, the whole crew did. The finale was really sad and quite unexpected but I'm glad they didn't sugar coat it. Their relationship was quite unhealthy.

    I don't see CBS investing in a 13 episode series that they don't own. It would have to do very well (as in practically their best performer on schedule) for them to even consider it. This is very likely just a wrap up/farewell order.

    well a lot of the cast and the writer of the pilot have tweeted that we'll be able to see it eventually besides season zero and I don't think they would do that if a deal wasn't close to being completed.

    I agree, all broadcast networks already passed on Studio City when asked (once talks with FOX hit a snag) and there is nothing that would convince them to reconsider. The fact that it is still "finalizing", clearly indicates a streaming or cable network.
