Hey All,
As you know each year we try to see how good your prediction skills are in determining which shows will be renewed and which ones will be cancelled.
You can see how we did last season here.
So we're going to be running a series of polls asking you what your predictions are for next season. The remaining networks' polls will be posted during the course of the next week or so.

Today it's the CW shows. You can find promos, clips and photos for most of the shows via the CW Menu at the top of the site.
We have a poll for each of the shows airing on CW this season. For each show you can choose whether it will be renewed or cancelled.
So vote below and let us know in the comments which shows you hope will be renewed, and which ones you think will be cancelled.
NOTE: All of these polls will remain open until the beginning of August so you have quite a bit of time to get your predictions in.
Containment looks amazing. Not a typical CW show so I hope they won't turn it into one :)

Could Go Either Way - TVD/The 100
(I say toss up with TVD because we don't know how ND leaving will effect the show. It could bottom out like Reign/BaTB or it could stay steady.)
Well even if it bottoms out like Reign and BaTB, both those shows were renewed so TVD should still be safe too.

ReplyDeleteThe only cancellation I see happening is CEG. Reign I have no idea about, it will have 3 seasons yes but it will also have horrible ratings, BATB treatment I suppose. JTV is another one I'm not sure about. The rest I can see getting renewed.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this is hard. CW has some many potential renewals already, how are they going to schedule any new programming in 2016/17 season.
ReplyDeleteReign and The Originals will be renewed for syndication.
JtV will be renewed for critical acclaim
CEG will be renewed since it's the only new show produced by CBS.
LoT will be be renewed since its bound to get good ratings.
SPN will be renewed as long as both guys agree on doing another season.
The Flash and Arrow are obvious renewals.
That only leaves:
iZombie and The 100: With so many renewals already, CW may increase renewal standards and if these shows drop in ratings next seasons, they are goners, especially since they are not owned by CBS.
Containment: No idea how this will turn out, could be a hit, could be a miss.
TVD: With Nina exiting, this could very well be the final season.

ReplyDeleteWith TO, Reign, JTV, CEG and if SPN doesn't rebound I can't see them increasing their renewal standards. The only shows they have that do really well are DC shows. SPN as well if it rebounds.
ReplyDeleteSame, after a great S6 for TVD I'm going to try S7, but even if it is just as good I won't really miss it. The 100 is the only CW show I really care about.

I ts hard to say about the new show without ratings data but I don't think Containment or Girlfriend will succeed ,Legends is at least 90% sure to do well though.I say Containment & Girlfriend cancelled
Jane= renewed I think cause of critical acclaim( though that may not be the case next season)&if it got a second full season,it'll go for four season & 79-88 episodes for syndication.
I cancelled CrExGf and iZombie out of conviction that they will be done next season. Sadly I think iZombie won't prevail rating wise next year, but I hope they will proof me wrong.
ReplyDeleteCancelled Supernatural cause I think this will be it for the show, especially as I predict another move for it. LoT will grab that post Arrow slot hard.
Reign and To renewed for syndication, Arrow, Flash safe.
Containment will do well I'm sure. Especially after seeing that promo.
Now LoT don't know how much S02 potential it has? Will they keep being a team or will Rip find a new team for S02?
The100 will have a tough job to get a space on the schedule next season, but think it will secure itself a summer spot!
And I think VD will pull through S07 and get a final S08.

ReplyDeleteCW has basically a hub of getting shows to syndication, regardless of how low the ratings actually are, so it makes guessing cancellations/renewals difficult. What would be an easy cancellation elsewhere, could be renewed.
My thought is that only The Vampire Diaries and iZombie will be cancelled. The 100 probably survives because it's closer to syndication.

Got the majority vote out of all of them except for Reign. Guess I'm the only one that thinks Reign will continue to get renewed simply based on how all of the promos I see of Reign just fits that typical CW mold, lol.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Arrow, Flash and Legends of Tomorrow continue on, I'm good. And Supernatural can end next season. I don't see that show having much life to it anymore.
ReplyDeleteWell I'm hoping izombie gets renewed, I'm surprised by some of the comments thinking it will be cancelled. It has performed pretty well.
ReplyDeleteiZombie is in the unfortunate position that there isn't a lot of incentive to keep it going. Other shows either perform better or are closer to syndication.

ReplyDeleteI just really hope that The 100 gets renewed for another season. The ratings don't do it any justice. It is really a good show and different than any other show on tv right now. Qualitywise it is perfect for a tv show (especially for CW) Hopefully people are going to catch up on the two seasons
ReplyDeleteI still think that if its a decent enough performer it wont matter how the other shows around it are doing, it will be renewed. Yes it will quite far off syndication but I dont the CW getting rid of shows that havent yet gotten them any return on their investment. Izombie will have to be doing very bad with every other show doing very well for it to be cancelled, do you see that happening? Scheduling also doesnt seem to be an issue.

ReplyDeleteJust cause they haven't announced before hand that it's the last season for VD doesn't mean it won't/can't be-They announced 90210 ending halfway through the season and could do the same for VD.HoDs fourth season wasn't announced as the last like people expected it to be but it was cancelled anyway.

ReplyDeleteI'm somewhat worried about iZombie's rating for the upcoming week considering the episodes will be repeated on Thursdays 8pm as well, so some people might watch at that time instead Tuesdays 9pm. Also, they plan to repeat iZombie for the whole summer, so that's kind of a good thing, I guess.
ReplyDeleteNo way will Supernatural be cancelled without confirmation of a final season. Longest running scifi show in American history (apparently), it will get a real final episode.
ReplyDeleteIdk why but I feel that if season 7 (that's a big if) does a real good job there could be a season 8. Idk its a long shot. But I voted renewed on it just cause. I do feel season 7 should be it's last. But after the finale, (that i really enjoyed surprisingly) I really can't say goodbye. So if season 7 Is it's last, iI will make sure to really enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteIf CW got Nikta,HoD to 70 plus episodes for syndication and Renee's BatB for two season-albeit short ones-to get to 70 episodes for syndication,Reign will be renewed.Its on in fall & Pedowitz didn't mention yet having a short season.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Crazy Ex-Girlfriend will be this year's Jane. And wtf Reign will be renewed! some votes on these polls seem so dumb, especially with the new shows; do you seriously think like 90% of the new shows will be canceled on every network. I doubt this season we'll do better than last.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I can see The 100 renewed too even with low ratings for a short final season to wrap up all loose ends since I think it's not doing bad on VOD, but the rest it's what I think could happen.
ReplyDeleteSome people aren't aware of syndication or people are voting for shows they want to be renewed and ones they don't like vote to be cancelled orReigns low ratings would make it seem an easy choice for cancellation( but for syndication)
ReplyDeleteI am more worried about a cheesy love story which kinda is already hinted in the trailer plus a lot of couples. I hope this won't turn into a show just about Romance. A bit is fine but this show looks like it has a lot of potential of different plots :)

ReplyDeleteThat could actually be it's downfall like the Messengers. At the end of the day it needs to bring in the ratings to not get axed. If CW were really confident with this show they could've premiered it after the Flash since looks like a male skewing show. CW only promotes 1 show during midseason and we know who's gonna get it his time.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch Reign. I am not even aware what season it is in. I only know it is low on ratings. My prediction was based on the small information I had LOL. If it is close to syndication then you are right it will get one more season.
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that Containment will get the Messengers treatment. It's way off brand for CW. They could've premiered it after the Flash if they were really confident about it but they didn't. They only promote one show during midseason and we know it's gonna be DC's LOT.

Critics not casual viewers and this is the CW not some cable channel being dark and edgy could backfire. LOT already has 3 million views on youtube. I remember the Flash trailer got 15 million views. LOT appeals to both Arrow and Flash fans so you already have viewers there. If CW were really confident about this show they would've premiered it this Fall since it has been longer in development compared to LOT which was rushed to this season. JTV could only muster up 0.5 with he acclaim and since this is WB show it's on the chopping block if it were against a CBS show. It's ratings needs to be better than 0.6 to beat iZombie and The 100.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lot i'd like to see in season 7. The Defan relationship being part of that list (although i never thought it was the best part of the show). I do think it will be good. TBH, the last scene confused me, but when i went back and watched it, i understood. I really don't want Lily to be around the whole season.

And ones hating Nina leaving are Delena fans and as much as that hate Elena's in a magical coma for the next sixty years I have a feeling they won't leave the other half of Delena aka Damon' s adventures going forward, as he is likely 75% of why they Love and Adore Delena as well as their 'main' squeeze.

The Vampire Diaries is about to get a major REVAMPING ( pardon the pun ) and I for one am super excited.

ReplyDeleteIf anything Julie and her team have learn that fans ( most NOT all ) like the crazed Delena/Klaroline ones ruin a show and bring so much hate and bad energy to the universe I'll be surprised if anyone kiss on this show let alone gets romantic.

In the footsteps of The Walking Dead there will be no romantic ships on Containment.
I love just Elena and don't care for who she dates or ends up with. With that said, I'll still check out s7 to hopefully see a new interesting character(one of the heretics maybe?) that can somehow fill her MC role. Not necessarily a love interest, just someone that I can connect with, that's as important to the storyline as Elena was. Sorry, Bonnie and Caroline fans! They still feel like supporting characters to me.

TO - three full seasons = renewed
JTV - two full seasons = renewed
To be honest I only watch bits and pieces of some CW shows.. Have seen earlier seasons of tvd, to, arrow etc but the 100 is the only I care about. Not familiar with all the syndication stuff either but the only existing shows that I think have a possibility of gaining viewers at all besides the flash&arrow are jtv&t100. Not saying they will... but I think they have the biggest potential to see a rise. That said I'd think it would be best to move other shows (even for syndication purposes) to summer for their next seasons and keep the 100 for midseasons. Containment looks great so despite my feelings towards TVD & TO I'm gunna give it a try and have a feeling it'll be renewed.

Renewed and bumped to Summer:
Reign, The 100
Reign I think will eventually get the BATB treatment. It'll be bumped to summer at some point to ride out till it has enough episodes for syndication. The 100 I think will also get this treatment if renewed for season 4 to make room for new shows.
Questionable: Crazy Ex-Girlfriend
They've always renewed at least 1 new CBS produced show each season. Since CBS only has 1 new show on the CW this season, that falls to Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I could see this breaking tradition though, but its hard to call.
Cancelled: Containment
As much as I hate to say it, I think Containment will be next seasons 'The Tomorrow People'.
You missed the most important one. The CW network - renewed or cancelled? Without a renewal by affiliates, the rest is a moot point.

-iZombie: I think it's all about how much it will fall. If it manages to maintin 0.6+, it will be renewed. If lower, than it's on the bubble. I'm leaning towards renewal.
-Jane the Virgin: When was the last time the CW cancelled a two-season show that has two full seasons? Did they ever do that at all? Reign managed to survive with lower ratings than Jane. Renewed
-Reign: Ratings are low but this will at least get the Nikita/Hart of Dixie treatment with a shortened, and possible final, fourth season. Renewed
-Supernatural: As long as its leads are on board, this show will continue. Renewed
-The 100: I really really want this show to be renewed. And I hope it will. This show won't have three full seasons, but I think it will get at least one more. Renewed
-The Flash: Renewed
-The Originals: Will have three full seasons so will get at least another one. Renewed
-The Vampire Diaries: Could go either way. Ratings might drop but they are still pretty solid. I say renewed.
New shows
-Containment: It all depends on the time slot if this one survives, but there is not a lot of room for it. Cancelled
-Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: Monday has been a troubled nights for the CW the past few seasons and I don't see that improving with this show. Maybe if it gets the acclaim that Jane does, it might have a shot but I don't see that happening. Cancelled
-Legends of Tomorrow: Renewed
Personally, I'm rooting for The 100 and Containment to get renewed. My other CW shows are pretty safe.
Maybe you're right. Either way I'm not going to keep my fingers crossed for it.

- Crazy Ex-Girlfriend: I feel that I could be making the same mistake I did with Reign and then Jane the Virgin, but still going with cancellation

I do not think I can be collectively right about all of these renewals but individually I still think most of them are more likely to be renewed than cancelled, so I would rather go this way and then have one wrong than try to pick which one is cancelled and maybe get two wrong

ReplyDeletei think the CW will go Oprah again next season and renew everything. all low rated CBS shows will move spring/summer. JTV, The Flash, Arrow, LoT, SPN, Containment will return fall. Crazy ExGF will return fall if it hits .7-.9 throughout first season, if not, summer run. if CBS stays to create CW they gotta have something since WB pretty much owns the fall schedule now.
ReplyDeleteI think you are forgetting that assuming season has a full episode order, it will be only one more season away from syndication. And CBS renewed BATB even after it hit a 0.2

Right cause Nikita,BatB,HoD didn't get fourth seasons for wrap up& syndication purposes despite hitting 0.2-0.3 in s3too.This season Reign got three 0.5s,seven 0.3,the rest 11 0.4s.Reign is only a season away from syndication.Itll be renewed.

ReplyDeleteBatB was renewed for syndication-fourth season-despite a 13 episodes third season. reign could and likely will be the same.Pedowitz didn't say Reign got a short season and it's on in fall,which could mean it got a full season.Czw has not cancelled shows a season from syndication-not even BatB doing worse in s2than Reign.

ReplyDeleteI pretty much said the same thing. Those are the bets I'm making, I'm just not 100% on them until we see if the ratings drop in the fall or not, and how the new shows do.
ReplyDeleteThey ALWAYS say that it'll be about the brothers and yet it never is. They hyped that up at the start of season 6, and gave us that amazing reunion scene, but after that they barely shared any screen time together. I think they'll promote season 7 as The Salvatore Diaries but it'll end up being mostly about Damon and Steroline. They've clearly made Damon the real lead, while Stefan has had very little to do all season other than be Caroline's love interest.

ReplyDeleteI just realized that CBS has only 90210& ANTM in syndication from CW-I'm betting this means they push harder for Reign,BatB,Jane to get to syndication & get deals.
