ReplyDeleteI just have to add, just because Felicity's character wasn't as funny/charming whatever you want to call it this season does not mean that Emily is a bad actress. In fact, I think considering she seems to be more into comedy, she did a good job with the bad writing they did with her character.
Constance Wu has been one of the best things about this TV season. She wins hands down for me. Viola Davis is also the clear winner for me in the drama category. The moment where she takes off her makeup, visibly crumbling with each step of her routine, was the best acting on TV I have seen this decade. It was a master class in how to embody a character so much that no words were needed. The vulnerability and betrayal on her face punched me right in the gut.

ReplyDeleteI love The Goldbergs and I think the actress is great, but the character can sometimes be off-putting. I can see why she was passed up.
ReplyDeleteDavis gave one of the most moving and transformative performances I have ever seen on TV this season. Here's hoping the Emmys recognize that.

ReplyDeleteNo matter how many times haters come into all these polls she SLAYS, it never gets old that you remain so pressed about her popularity that you throw shade in items highlighting her achievements. I suppose that's the only visibility you have to do so. Considering the voices of minority opinion often gets lost in prevailing ones.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet she still remains the favorite and most popular character on Arrow second only to Oliver/Stephen. So I think the fact that she continues to be nominated for awards is the first clue that she's not horrible. In fact, she's being celebrated for her role and her art.

And I'm sorry which fandom favorite list has Felicity Smoak EVER come last in? *crickets* No matter how many times I hear this claim it still cracks me up. ReplyDeleteShe had some great emotional scenes in Sara and in Canaries but most of her scenes include her kicking butt and you can't quite put emotion to that now can you ? Amell is also too weak of an actor so his emotional scenes are not that good . Emotional scenes also don't suit Emily that much and that's why she is not good in those scenes . I agree with Barrowman and Ramsey and I would Willa Holland to that list because she totally brings it
