A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great, memorable scenes that we've seen in past seven days on TV.
BATTLE CREEK, "Sympathy for the Devil", May 24, 2015, Actors: Josh Duhamel, Dean Winters and more, The Scene: The final scene
Milo MJ: The final scenes of the last Battle Creek episode, "Sympathy for the Devil," with Milt's Russian roulette against Casey's Dad. The Rolling Stones music, although used so frequently in shows, was effective here and the laugh at the end when Russ told Milt that it was going to be okay and Milt said "I know." Whilst it wasn't the best show on TV it was a fun cop show and I'll miss it, with the ending scene being a pretty awesome conclusion.
BETWEEN, "Who's the Boss", May 28, 2015, Actors: Jennette McCurdy and more
The Scene: The final montage
Milo MJ: The montage with all the characters at the end burying the dead. This was handled well, with an emotional, effective end to Episode 2, and some nice background music. It's not quite a must-watch show yet but this episode featured a pretty good ending.
GAME OF THRONES, "The Gift", May 24, 2015, Actors: Peter Dinklage, Emilia Clarke, Lena Headey and more, The Scenes: Tyrion meets Dany & Cersei is imprisoned
Justyna K: There were already quite a lot of moments on the show when some characters almost meet, but often something stands in their way. So I was both surprised and absolutely excited to watch Jorah and Tyrion finding Dany. Jorah's impressive fight and then Tyrion's introduction make it one of this season's (possibly series) most memorable moments and my scene of the week. For all the elements working perfectly together: the acting, the reactions, the setting, the music, the meaning and the potential dynamics change of the show. "My Name is Tyrion Lannister." For once the two people you can actually root for meet and it could go in so many different directions. And since many of my favorite parts of GoT include Tyrion and his brilliant speeches, I absolutely can't wait for next episode! Peter Dinklage is a real scene-stealer and his interactions with Emilia Clarke can be one of the best ones on the show yet. Kudos!
Milo MJ: The Ridley Scott's Gladiator-esque moment in this week's Game of Thrones. Jorah and Tyrion in the pits and Tyrion's "My Name is Tyrion Lannister" reveal to Dany was awesome. Great first meeting between two characters that contributed to one of the strongest moments in the season so far.
Jamie Coudeville: What's that saying 'You reap what you sow'. This totally fit Cersei. Nice to finally see a bit of karma come her way.
ORPHAN BLACK, "Community of Dreadful Fear and Hate", May 30, 2015, Actors: Tatiana Maslany, Maria Doyle Kennedy and more, The Scenes: Alison gives her school trustee speech while Sarah talks to Mrs. S & Helena fights Mrs. S
Tonya Papanikolas: What a great mix of scenes about family. It was nice to see Alison recognize people in her life like Felix who act like family. At the same time, I loved the touching moment between Sarah and Mrs. S. It's rare to see Sarah confide in Mrs. S. like that, with total trust, showing her true emotions. It was nice to see such an emotional reaction to Paul's death. And I loved hearing her call Mrs. S. her mother for the first time. Plus, it was gratifying to see Alison come through with a great speech. This scene mixing was a wonderful touch.
Nirat Anop: It was really great, it had all the nice moments I love seeing on Orphan Black mixed together in a cohesive piece. Alison's speech was true to who she is and I loved how she said "I will be your Mother Hen" and how her face lit up.
Jamie Coudeville: I was worried about Mrs. S here. Helena could definitely take her. I loved the hug at the end. Helena needs a mother figure in her life.
OUTLANDER, "To Ransom a Man's Soul", May 30, 2015, Actors: Caitriona Balfe, Sam Heughan, The Scene: Claire tells Jamie she's pregnant
Nirat Anop: It was difficult trying to choose a scene from this episode. A truly harrowing and emotional episode but I loved how Claire told Jamie she was pregnant and in that moment he felt happiness, something he thought not possible in light of the horribly traumatic assault that happened to him. The final shots of Claire and Jamie were beautiful, hopeful and with the score and scenery, it made the ending a happy one. One we will definitely need to keep us going through this Droughtlander.
WAYWARD PINES, "Our Town, Our Law", May 28, 2015, Actors: Terrence Howard and more
The Scene: The ending
Nirat Anop: I wasn't expecting the weird noises coming from beyond the wall and the one 'creature' to take away Sheriff Pope's body. I did love when Ethan's son hit Sheriff Pope with the car though. I am so intrigued and confused and most importantly, I'm loving how mysterious this all is.
