Thanks to Alex S for the heads up.
It seems like these last few episodes have been starting to tie up story lines. At what point during the season did you know there would be not be another one?
Honestly, it was right before they officially announced the show was ending. It was something we'd all been talking about for a while. [There is a] cliffhanger that could have spurred the show into a season five. We didn't believe we needed to end the story; it would have been a satisfying season finale. Officially the decision came down last week, but we [also] knew in our hearts that we wanted to end the story regardless of a fifth season. If there had been a fifth season, it would have set up a new Revenge.
Let's talk about that promo for the finale of Revenge. We saw Amanda pointing a gun at Victoria, and then later lying in a pool of blood; Jack and Amanda nearly making out, and then him lying in what looks like a hospital bed; and Louise stabbing Nolan? Safe to assume someone doesn't make it out alive?
I can say that "Two Graves" is the right title of the episode. We intentionally picked that to harken back to the Confucius quote that kicked off the whole show ("Before you embark on a journey of revenge, dig two graves"), and there will be two people in a grave before the end of the episode. The promo teases a sense of who that might be — or not.
How did the cast react to the news of the show's cancellation?
It's one of those things that a lot of us had started to make peace with. On Twitter, there is such an outpouring of love for the show, it would have been great to keep it going. They all loved working with each other. But from a creative standpoint, and an artist's standpoint, they're all happy with the way it ended up.
Were you able to sort of have a farewell get-together with the cast, given that production had ended once news of the cancellation hit?
We had a couple of wrap parties to finish [the season] out. But people scattered to the winds as they finished up. The finale airs on Mothers' Day, and I'm taking my wife out; home life trumps work life.

So there is a cliffhanger? Daaamn. Might be like Desperate Housewives though, where there's just a new mystery starting up but it just means that the cycle of secrets never ends, as does revenge. Just as long as the story finishes in a satisfactory way, I'm happy.
ReplyDeleteI hope the cliffhanger isn't Conrad on a island drinking a mojito
ReplyDeletehttp://starcasm.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/Revenge_canceled.jpg?ggnoads
ReplyDelete"And then there’s one more final, huge, wonderful detail that we’ll
ReplyDeletereveal in the series finale that Emily couldn’t have known that she will
also come to learn in the next episode, which will completely reveal
what Victoria’s whole plan was, ultimately."
The corpse is Victoria mother !
There will be two people in a grave before the end of the episode-Those better be Victoria & Margaux!
ReplyDeleteSunil said "there will be two people in graves by the end of the episode.A lot of the clues are in the promo that aired last night." so I think Jack will die because he looks like he's dead in the promo.
ReplyDeleteRip Jack.
ReplyDeleteBoth Amanda's Love & Her father both end up dying-Wouldn't that be too cruel?
ReplyDeleteSo ABC only let them know two weeks ago. I thank Sunil and the entire writing team for, despite ABC's idiotic decision to not let them know anything earlier, them still writing a series finale for us with proper build up in these last episodes and all.Thank you very much for saving the series for the fans despite ABC's rude treatment!!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure it will be that way, he practically says that in the THR one I think
ReplyDeleteDie Margaux Die!
ReplyDeleteI want Nolan alive and Margaux dead.
ReplyDeleteI think is funny how everyone hates Margaux so much ahah.
ReplyDeleteIf both Jack and David die, that means Victoria will stay alive ? What about Margaux ?
ReplyDeleteI still think they will kill off both Emily and Victoria.
ReplyDeleteI don't think a character like Margaux would be worthy of the mention in the series finale title that is in the origin of the series. I think she could still die in addition to Vicky and Emily.
ReplyDeleteI hate her because she's just stupid. Emily didn't do anything to her and she cleared Daniel's name like she wanted.
ReplyDeleteAfter last night,I will kill her myself if the writers doesn't do so in the finale!
ReplyDeleteExactly. Her hatred towards Amanda is beyond my understanding!
ReplyDeleteIt will be nice if Louise kill her like she tried to do in episode 7.
ReplyDeleteIkr! But at least the writers have managed to give us proper closure.
ReplyDeleteNow that would be a good twist-Throw her from the rooftop like Lydia, after all Pascal, her father, did die on a rooftop!
ReplyDeleteBtw!
ReplyDelete"[There is a] cliffhanger that could have spurred the show into a season five."
Well, doesn't that spoil it pretty much that Emily will actually not die?
No,he said that it would be basically a new show if it got renewed. He also said this revenge thingy will always go on so i think it will be exactly like Desperate Housewives final mins-Someone new taking over Amanda and starting his/her revenge saga.
ReplyDeleteIf Emily kill VIctoria, who will kill Emily ?
ReplyDeleteDespite the low ratings I think that is another reason why Abc has decided to not renew the show, cause season 5 would be about someone else wanting their own Revenge, which is basically the same show as the Kingmakers.
ReplyDeleteSame here-I think those are the"two graves"& it would make sense cause the quote is when you embark on a journey of revenge dig two graves, one for your target, one for yourself. Both Emily & Victoria have caused so much pain & damage,I don't see how they could have a happy ending( though I want Emiky/Jack.)
ReplyDeleteWell, that could be other explanation But, I don't think that the writters would actually go for it. I think many of the people who are still watching Revenge are doing it for Emily/Nolan. Rebooting a show like this after 4 seasons doesnt sound logical to me.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is saying Jack is Duzo too.Margaux can't live after what she did last night.David is dying 100%.So,how many casualties are we talking about?5?Yikes!!
ReplyDeleteABC is capable to call Kingmakers : "Revenge : The KIngmakers" !
ReplyDeleteTwo Graves : One for the show and one for the characters because they all die !
ReplyDeleteI think there will be 2 survivors-Louise & Nolan.I'm almost sure about it,at least Nolan.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Jack & David too, maybe not. We'll have to watch & see.Just " people" think Jack will die, dosent mean it'll for sure happen,Margoux either
ReplyDeleteDavid's death from Cancer is 200% sure.If Margaux survives and Amanda dies,it will be one of the worst series finale in the TV history, probably worse than True Blood/HIMYM/Dexter!
ReplyDeleteWell, if Emily/Amanda and Victoria don't die,it'll be rent conning the quote that started it all and wasn't there a episode where Emily/Amanda said " this is not a happy story, this isn't a story of happy ever after" or something like that?IDC if anyone else dies, but if Amanda & Victiria don't both die,it'll be the worst series finale
ReplyDelete"If there had been a fifth season, it would have set up a new Revenge."
ReplyDeleteI smell the cliffhanger will setup Kingmakers. That's the new Revenge.
It's a longshot, but I actually believe these guys are trying to make a franchise
Right when he said that I thought of how Desperate Housewives ended things! It seems fitting that the cycle of Revenge continues.
ReplyDeleteI really don't get the people saying Emily is going to die.
ReplyDeleteCompletely agree. If ABC had any respect for the show they should have announced eons ago, especially at the TCA (which I have stated 1000 times). I cannot believe how badly they treated it, especially since they have claimed it is a "critical brand" for them
ReplyDeleteWhy?The quote that started the show was"when you embark upon a path if revenge dig two graves"Emily/Amanda has caused so much havock, pain, damage,it's impossible to see her getting a happy ending,
ReplyDeleteWell, not dying and getting a happy ending aren't necessarily the same. If anything, Emilanda ( :P ) dying would probably give her a sense of peace that she'd finally be freed from all of this. I think it'd actually be less "happy" for the character to live but suffer a severe loss. Plus, given all the revenging everyone against Emily is doing, they could also be part of the graves.
ReplyDeleteBesides low ratings I think thats also another reason why they decided not to renew Revenge. It would be a whole new show about someone else's Revenge, which is basically the same show as The Kingmakers.
ReplyDeleteI just hope Emily won't become a lumberjack at the end...
ReplyDeleteThat makes sense; if they are going to turn Revenge into an anthology series while they are developing Kingmakers, while not just go with Kingmakers instead?
ReplyDeleteI just hope they sway in Kingmakers on their pickups and that they announce it is a Revenge spin off; if the finale is satisfying, the show will have a starting audience as well as the new viewers it can grab on its way to television
I agree with you on this-happy ending isn't even an option anymore!
ReplyDeleteThat's the cliffhanger
ReplyDeleteI don't think he meant a completely new show when he said "a new Revenge."
ReplyDeleteSo these are the possible cliffhangers I have imagined so far:
ReplyDelete-Emily's fate is unclear: the series end with us not knowing if she made it alive or not.
-The show ends with Emly holding the gun at Victoria and it's up to the audience to decide if she killed her or not (a Sopranos kind of exit).
-The show set ups a new Revenge scenario to let the show become an anthology series (and even if Nayar denies it, I still believe it could be setup for Kingmakers or content that could be seen on the show).
-The rise up of a new villain or a new revenge hero that would lead off season 5.
True, but the title is "Two Graves"& EmAnanda& Victoria are the two leads soo..As I said Ealier I can see Jack dying too,EmAnda being heartbroken. But the quote says pretty much says dig a grave for your target if Revrnge and for yourself( cause you'll destroy yourself & your life, your happiness, your relationships during this pursuit of revenge).EmAnda thought shed shed free, happy when got revenge against Victoria/Conrad,only to find out she's not.
ReplyDeleteThere was a scoop on EW that said that if Revenge came back for season 5 it would be a completely new and different show judging by the finale
ReplyDeleteThe whole point of the show is Emily getting her happy ending.
ReplyDeleteThis is my death rank for next week:
ReplyDeleteCertain fatalities: Margaux
Most likely to die: Victoria, David
Looking very possible: Emily
Could go either way: Louise, Nolan
Unlikely: Jack
Not going to happen: Carl (he'll be the new revenger in a spiritual spin off ABC will make with Carl's actor 20 years from now)
No, it's about her thinking that getting her Revnge is her happy ending but Evrn though she got her Revnge, she's not happy, free from it.Again quote" When embarking in a path of tenge, dig two graves-"-one for yourself, one for your target.
ReplyDeleteWith Fauxmanda serving him the drinks and Daniel working on the bar
ReplyDeleteMaybe it will be something like desperate housewives with a woman moving in David's house and we will see that she has a revengenda
ReplyDeleteShhhh- you are giving away the ending
ReplyDeleteAnd that woman is Kara Clarke, Emily's mom
ReplyDeleteMy list-
ReplyDelete1.Certain-Margaux & David.
2.Most Likely-Vicky.
3.Very possible-Amanda.
4.Bubble watch-Louise.
5.Completely safe-Nolan,Jack & Carl.
Or maybe Ashley, Sunil said she will come back on the Hamptons with a revengenda.
ReplyDeleteSeems fitting for Victoria and Emily to both die
ReplyDeleteNow that would interesting, maybe it will set up the stage for Ashleys Revenge
ReplyDeleteWell she had a thing for older men, she did hook up with Conrad that one time
ReplyDeleteThat happy ending dream went out the window the moment David got diagnosed with Lymphoma.
ReplyDeleteI will be mad if Emily die and not Margaux. I want her to have a slow and painfull death !
ReplyDeleteLink?
ReplyDeleteHe meant a reboot.
ReplyDeleteI'll need to search for it, it was a while back in one of those "EW info on various shows", but I'll look for it and bring it up here :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be my theory too.
ReplyDeleteEmily doesn't need her over protective daddy for her happy ending.
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of David but Amanda really needs her father after all this is over.I was almost in tears during that last scene of David-Amanda!
ReplyDelete😂😂😂😂😂😂
ReplyDeleteThe fandom would go postal if this ends up happening!
ReplyDeleteAh, here it is! It was actually TVLine
ReplyDeletehttp://tvline.com/2015/04/14/revenge-season-5-renewed-cancelled-abc/
It would be a HIMYM kind of fiasco
ReplyDeleteI remember last year when I went to SpoilerTV to see how people thought about the finale before watching it and I was shocked to see so many "Awful" votes !
ReplyDeleteI was one of the first to vote and comment.
ReplyDeleteI remember I said: "I hated it with all my soul. I feel so betrayed they did this after so many years of loyally watched the show" or something like that.
That comment got 500 upvotes, which shows just how much the fans were disappointed. I estimate 70% of the fandom was pissed
Yes. The writers were stupid not to change the ending. It was a perfect ending if the show ended after season 2 but 7 seasons later, not so much.
ReplyDeleteShe's earned it.
ReplyDeleteI don't understand why they made us meet the mother if they were planning this ending. I didn't hate the finale when I saw it but now it has been a year and I completely understand the fans who have been watching the show for years ( I watched the first 8 seasons in 1 month, the finale season is the only one I watched "live" ).
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I hope it won't be the same with Revenge and I hope the writers won't "jump the shark" like they did in the season 3 finale with David's ressurection.
If it is the last option (which I hope it is) then my hope is that it is just some random person who will start a new Revenge like Desperate Housewives did with the random person moving into Susan's house. If it's somebody we know than I would feel like not everything is wrapped up and like I want more vs if it's just some random person than I dont feel connected so I dont really want to know what happens with them.
ReplyDeleteNow THAT would be interesting!
ReplyDeletei think it makes the revenge bittersweet if Jack is killed off. I wouldnt say hes an innocent party, but he was gradually sucked into the revenge slowly but surely not matter what Amanda did to stop it. It was just inevitable. Him dying as a result of her win makes her win... not muchofa win at all. YOu could say even when she wins, she loses
ReplyDeletePlot twist: Revenge canceliont was a play just a Victoria's dead and the show will be renew at the upfronts :v
ReplyDeleteI have a feeling that the cliffhanger will somehow lead to the Kingmakers maybe we will see the girl being murdered and go from there.
other one is that I belive they make us think Amanda/Emily is dead and in the end we will see she is not.
Exactly, I feel like Amanda/Emily went too far in her pursuit of revenge that it means she can never really have a happy ending. Though I'm not sure if the show will go there.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot Charlotte. She can at least get a happy ending with her sister.
ReplyDeleteIt small cliffhanger I think.
ReplyDeleteRevenge will never make it past season 4
ReplyDeleteYeah but Sunil being so smug he kill Emily but Mike Kelley wouldn't have ever done that/.
ReplyDeleteMarduax hates Amanda because her husband was had sexual relationship with her before they got together mean it ridiculous she blames her for Daniel death when he own mother got him killed.
ReplyDeleteMarduax dies instead Amanda she saves her life maybe something useful her character did.
ReplyDeleteIt should be
ReplyDeleteYeah kingmaker season 1 is revenge season 5 in theory.
ReplyDeleteVicky must suffer consequence of her deception from 20 odd years ago
ReplyDeleteno i have to get into bed with her Aidan proved he wasn't good enough for Ems
ReplyDeletemaybe Marduax Vicky and David White Gold since she bought into show to die and Amanda and Jack run off from the Hampton's happily ever after. They get married Amanda discovers she pregnant with Jack kid.
ReplyDeleteThe kingmaker basically revenge continued.
ReplyDeleteIf you read this thread you'll see I'm talking about How I Met Your Mother and its horrible series finale.
ReplyDeleteI hope Revenge doesn't pan out that way
He did new characters new revenge story another girl lost her daddy maybe rich family planted lot crimes on him but this daddy is dead permanently .
ReplyDeleteBasically same plot same characters with new actors actress so
ReplyDeleteIt turns out Vicky lied she ends up being pregnant with Jack kid.
ReplyDeleteNo it legit abc executive Paul Lee said finished permanently low rating say the reason but he didn't say why.
ReplyDeleteOh sorry I though on about revenge
ReplyDeleteApparently they truly hadn't decided back then, as seen by the fact that they only told the cast and crew two weeks ago. So it wasn't about not announcing, was actually about not deciding.
ReplyDeleteAmanda is she 50 50
ReplyDeleteI have no idea honestly. I hope it isn't Margaux though
ReplyDeleteShe was really bad last night, but for some reason I find it funny how much everyone hates her. In the last episodes, I actually think she makes for a decent secondary villain to Vicky and I hate her, but it is a hate I feel I am supposed to have.
ReplyDeleteAmanda kills Vicky Margaux kills Amanda and WG kills Marduax.
ReplyDeleteShe had a thing for money, which is different lol ;)
ReplyDeleteRevenge is a toxic brand right now I think. I 100% believe if there was really a connection the best thing they could do was not announce it and make it subtle (Easter egg like, just for hardcore revenge fans). I don't see the gain, because revenge fans should already have a predisposition to check that one out anyway, so there is little added gain
ReplyDeleteCarl would be such a confused kid if Amanda were to become his stepmom. Can you imagine? "My mommy was Amanda Clarke, who in reality was Emily Throrme, but she died, so my daddy married Emily Throme, who in reality is Amanda Clarke" LOL
ReplyDeleteI think Margaux is a certain death. People despise her so much
ReplyDeleteTo be fair, I also don't get Victoria's hate at the moment. After Malcom Black (when she was even willing to die to save Emily's life) they made a truce and Victoria was happy staying away, with her main beef being Daniel's name. Then when Emily clears his name as she wanted, that is when she decides to retaliate? Emily only shamed her on TV as a preemptive strike because Victoria was already after her. I don't get the shift in Victoria's mind any better than Margaux's.
ReplyDeleteAnd Aiden is also there and has actually developed a bromance with Daniel!
ReplyDeleteI will never agree with the hate. I loved the finale so much and I 100000% thought it was the most consistent and truthful ending to the series. I had long thought that way although I had lost hope they would actually do it so I was over the moon when they did it. But.. I don't want to start a HIMYM war here, I've been over this time and time again and I realize I am a minority!
ReplyDeleteIt's better that we don't go down that road.
ReplyDeleteI am happy that at least you could enjoy it, because I hated it through my gut and to my core
True xD
ReplyDeleteWhat was there to decide? Did ABC really expected Revenge to suddenyl start scoring regular 1.5s?
ReplyDeleteI honestly don't understand them
I realize that :P That is why I said it is not necessary to to there again, because I also feel quite strongly about it but on the opposite spectrum
ReplyDeleteEducated guess: they hoped it could go back to 1.3-1.4 after S&L considering it was doing 1.1-1.2 when Resurrection was already below that in the fall. Most importantly, they probably did some research and market prospection about the syndication deals it could get and realized the financials didn't work out for a fifth season.
ReplyDeleteI really wanted full closure but it looks like we will not be getting that thanks to abc!
ReplyDeleteHe says that this story is closed. It looks like the cliffhanger is just something small
ReplyDeleteYeah I searched on twitter " #Revenge Margaux" and absolutely everybody want her to die.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry he assured that we will leave the finale with a sense of closure. I don't think that the cliffhanger will have anything to do with Emily, Jack, David, Victoria or Nolan. He said that it would practically be a new revenge if it got a fifth season.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, does EmAmanda have a relationship with Charlotte or David though? I don't think really think so.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Revenge will really go THAT literal with the graves thing. Especially since this wasn't planned as a certain season finale. I could be wrong. But something tells me the "graves" could be both literal and metaphorical. Somehow I think making Emily have to live with having lost everything to get her revenge is a lot more the spirit of that quote that merely giving her an easy death that'd probably give her more peace than anything.
ReplyDeleteI think there will be more then 2 deaths. David will die for sure. Jack, I'm not sure.. The promo could be misleading. Victoria will also die for real this time. That would be three. I can see Louise sacrificing herself for Nolan too. I hope Margaux dies too but I predict she will just end up in jail. Anyway, with the creepy White Gold walking around I suspect more deaths.
ReplyDeleteSunil also said really shocking things that are going to happen. What will be shocking about David dying of cancer? There has to be more to it. He also said: There will be 2 people in a grave by the end of the episode, but that doesnt mean there will be more deaths right?
Maybe Jack dies and the Cliffhanger will be Carl trying to Revenge his death 20 years in the future.
ReplyDeleteActually David and Victoria started this. Remember Stevie pointed out that David slept with a married woman, he committed the first sin. I am almost positive those two will be in the graves. One for revenge and one for her consequence. My best guess is David, knowing he is dying will kill Victoria, on camera, before Amanda can to 1. Clear her name by showing Victoria is alive and 2. Prevent his daughter from killing her. He will eventually be released when he is on his deathbed where the real loss is the loss of their time together. My worry is that Jack dies (or she thinks he is dead) which is what makes her so emotional and puts her in a place where she could kill Victoria, because she has nothing else to lose...
ReplyDelete
