  6. Conde U SOB! The episode should be could True Colors.
Of course the Canadian promo is better than CW.

  7. Woah, two episodes left and they finally decided to show that Conde had a purpose on the show.

  8. This was always his purpose if you look up who he was in history. I don't know why they added this dull affair

  9. I fail to see the point of a lot of the writing decisions with Mary this season, and they could of done a much better job of getting here with Conde.

  10. I'm afraid that the right answer is the obvious one: it's CW.

  11. No respect for their audience. Adelaide (Mary) once said teenage girls don't care about history. So they believe their audience would rather watch conde start a war because he was discarded by marry, than conde starting a war because of his strong religious beliefs. The ratings show how wrong they are. Never assume you are smarter than your audience.

  12. I know this is totally speculating, but maybe Catherine offers up Mary in return for Elizabeth signing off on supporting Conde? Frees it up for Conde to die without England reacting. Mary could be the one to kill him, which would help redeem her character a bit and maybe help viewers want to continue to follow her. I just hope that they do not do something like that & then throw Francis dying in too. Like Mary killing Conde after Francis is mortally wounded or something. Would set up for next season with all 3 queens at each other. And Francis no longer protecting Mary. I know Francis will not last too much longer, but I really really hope he sticks around for at least a good part of season 3. Francis & Catherine are the main reason I still watch. All just guessing, but Reign has a lot of work to do to get rid of all the mess of the Conde stuff.

  13. I don't know why they've bothered to do it this way. Conde and Renaude plotted against the French crown because of the hard line policies against Protestants and Francis's all round ineffectiveness as King. This whole affair/marriage to Elizabeth/take over bid is just bizarre and doesn't make any sense, even in the highly fictionalised world of the show. I knew Reign was never going to show Francis as the weak King he was - but, they had the perfect set up early in the season to give Conde motivation to go against the crown when Narcisse was blackmailing Francis to implement those laws against Protestants. It was literally the perfect set up to set Conde off for religious reasons, I don't know why they just threw that away. Unless, that was the original intention and they decided to change it and and add a stupid love triangle for whatever reason. I mean I'm really interested to finally see Conde act his plot, but, the reasons behind it are stupid both dramatically and in terms of the history.

Also bringing Elizabeth isn't working in my opinion. They really need her character to be a success because I thinks she's their best hope of getting a ratings boost right now, but, the prospects don't look good at all. Her actions so far just don't make any sense. First off ,to say Elizabeth had a secret marriage is mind numbingly stupid. But, add to that, Elizabeth wasn't interested in naming herself Queen of Scotland and/or France. It was Mary who wanted the English throne (I get why the show doesn't go there, although I think it takes a great deal of nuance away from Mary's character when they remove that).

They had the perfect avenue to bring Elizabeth in via The Treaty of Edinburgh, but, yet again wasted it. They could have had Mary send troops to Scotland for some stupid reason ( - Franch troops had been for a long time historically, but, the show wouldn't admit to that) Elizabeth understands that as an act of aggression against England and backs Scottish Protestant rebels - Marie de Guise is overthrown, a new Protestant government is set up in Scotland and the alliance between France and Scotland is officially broken. Using this would have been a brilliant way to bring Elizabeth in. It would effect all three countries (France, England and Scotland) would bring Elizabeth on as a savvy power player that she was (seriously in what world does Elizabeth try to put Louis de Borubon in the throne of France- Elizabeth was smart!) and would offer a new challenge to Francis and Mary in that they'd still be married, but, their countries are not in a political alliance any more. Let Mary get a shock that a good number of her people see her as a French woman and don't want her as their queen. Which would have been a nice more grounded challenge for them and their relationship. It would be straight out of history too.

What I hope for in season three: For them to at least attempt some nuance with Elizabeth and don't boil Mary and Elizabeth's relationship down to arguments over men. For Mary and Francis to slowly reconcile and learn to appreciate each other again- only for Francis to die at the end of season three. I'd like to see the loss of Tuscnay and many of France's other territories in Italy. It would be nice to see Francis struggle with the shame of losing territories his grandfather had so famously won. That would also bring Spain into it more. I mean I know the show can't do everything, but, for a show even pretending to be set in 16th Century - they really should talk about Spain more. A cameo from Darnley and/or John Knox who were in France during Mary's time there could be cool too.

  14. I definitely think Mary will kill Conde in the finale, which is..... whatever, the show should just never have gone there with that story line. I actually think Catherine will go further, I think she'll offer they to get rid of Conde and Mary both and then offer Elizabeth marriage to Francis. Last episode they made this big thing about how Elizabeth needed to marry a French King (seriously this is Elizabeth I they're talking about??), so I think Catherine will offer exactly that. The finale synopsis says that Francis believes Mary has turned against France, so she probably does something rash and stupid in order to get near Conde to kill him. But, Catherine decides enough is enough and approaches Elizabeth. Catherine tried many times to get Elizabeth to marry into the French royal family, so there's some historical basis.

I think Francis will last until the end of next season. But, not sure about any further (if the show is even renewed).

  15. I would love to see mary sweat over francis/elizabeth and I think it's a real possibility they will go there.

  16. Yeah, I can see Catherine giving Francis some big speech about how Elizabeth and England are a more powerful ally than Scotland. How marrying probably the most significant Protestant in Europe will help with Protestant rebellion in France and how together France and England could squish Scotland and just take that too. Francis will consider it because of politics and because of the way Mary's has behaved this season. But, in the end his heart will always belong to Mary and he'll romantically go back to her (sigh) and they'll probably all team up together to trick Elizabeth (as if). I would no surprised if that is the story line next season.

  17. I could get behind this I guess if Mary begs over and over again for Francis to forgive her and prove over and over again of getting his trust back and stop going behind his back everytime she doesn't get what she wants like a petulant child.

I too would love love love to see Mary sweet over Francis/Elizabeth. Not only for political, but also for her to feel what it has felt like to be Francis many times.
