Ratings Breakdown:
ABC opened the week on another winning overnight note care of “Dancing With the Stars,” but the home of “The Voice,” NBC, is the network to beat in the key young adult demographics. The final “Dancing With the Stars” performance show of the spring season topped the evening with a 10.2 rating/16 share in households from 8-9 p.m. (go Rumer Willis!), and it led into the two-hour season-premiere of perennial summer ABC occupant “The Bachelorette” at a 5.1/ 8 from 9-11 p.m. Comparably, “The Bachelorette” was right on par with the year-ago season-opener, and that 5.1 rating in the overnights translated into 7.17 million viewers and a 2.0 rating/ 6 share among adults 18-49 (based on the Live Plus Same Day data).
On NBC, part one of the live season-finale of “The Voice” jumped 13 percent week to week with a 7.2/11 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m. Comparably, this was its top metered market household rating since March 30. Next on the Peacock net was the sophomore season-finale of medical drama “The Night Shift” at a distant third-place 3.3/ 6 at 10 p.m., which slipped by 55 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (and did not earn its third season renewal).
Both “Dancing With the Stars” and “The Voice” conclude for the season tonight.
CBS featured three season finales and the series-finale of freshman drama “Stalker.” Sitcoms “2 Broke Girls” (#3: 5.0/ 8 at 8 p.m.) and “Mike & Molly” (#2: 5.3/ 8 at 8:30 p.m.), which will return at an undisclosed date in 2015-16, were slightly above typical overnights. “Stalker” ended its run with a third-place 4.5/ 7 from 9-10 p.m., and it led into the season-ending installment of “NCIS: Los Angeles” at a dominant 5.9/10 at 10 p.m. While moving from Tuesday (out of parent “NCIS”) did cost “NCIS: Los Angeles” viewers this season, it was a clear improvement over anything the Eye net has aired in the Monday 10 p.m. hour in recent seasons.
Over at Fox were two episodes (including the series finale) of three year-old drama “The Following,” which earned its cancellation stripes at an average 2.4/ 4 from 8-10 p.m. And The CW capped off the evening with 2012 theatrical “Celeste and Jesse Forever” with Rashida Jones and Andy Samberg at a mere 0.4/ 1 in the overnights from 8-10 p.m.

Why is he now writing random stuff between the paragraphs? How random
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the random babble Marc
ReplyDelete"“The Night Shift” at a distant third-place 3.3/ 6 at 10 p.m., which
ReplyDeleteslipped by 55 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (and did
not earn its third season renewal)."
Major ouch. If I'm NBC, I'm very concerned. This will likely translate into another low 1.2 or 1.3 after night one of The Voice's two hour finale. I have to agree with TVMediaInsights here, this show did not earn its renewal. It's going under 1.0 when it returns, and that simply isn't good enough, regardless of how many times Sony attempts to package it.
wait i thought it was renewed for season 3
ReplyDeleteAnyone know where I can find the ratings for Mad Men's finale on Sunday?
ReplyDeletethe night shift was renewed for season 3, not cancelled
ReplyDeleteIt was. Airdate to be determined.
ReplyDeleteThe HH is on par with the season premiere and an increase from last week's total. The rest is your continual Night Shift bashing, which is not only baseless, but the reason why you were banned by TV By The Numbers. I know you are bitter it received a third season, but get over it.
ReplyDeleteI've noticed he likes to put his opinions on renewals/cancellations more with the ratings analysis. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's more difficult to read through.
ReplyDeleteMost likely it will head back to summer where it was doing alright.
ReplyDeleteIf NBC makes a profit on it, which the reduced licensee fee from Sony should ensure, why should they be concerned? It will more likely fill in a summer timeslot for them and they call it a day. What is the problem?
ReplyDeleteI don't think they've been released yet
ReplyDeleteThanks, I was wondering if that might be the case, I did a bit of digging but couldn't find anything.
ReplyDeleteThe HH's were a 3.7/6. And please learn to not take things personal as you have been told multiple times.
ReplyDeleteHe's been doing that type of thing all season, that's nothing new. I was talking more about the random things he has thrown in that don't seem to have anything to do with anything, like "bachelorette2015" and "taylor-swift-sam-smith".
ReplyDeleteThere's no proof they do make a profit off it. If they could, why package it?
ReplyDeleteThere's not. As XYZ was told every week he complained about The Night Shift, and its renewal, before getting the axe from TV By The Numbers... it would not fall below a 1.0 because it has yet to do so in stand alone episodes, the latest being the 10 pm Tuesday episode. Also, it was renewed because it is above NBC's scripted average and a valuable low cost player. However, XYZ feels the need to repeat his rant every week.
ReplyDelete3.3/6 and 3.7/6 are on par. And your last statement is the reason why you've been banned on multiple boards. I bring this up so that when you are no longer able to post here, you don't create another name wondering why.
ReplyDeleteI'm not banned anywhere. Jacos, please stop. You are again taking things personal and we shouldn't have to flag all of your immature posts ranting against users. That's not allowed.
ReplyDeleteYes, good idea. I have definitely flagged all of your posts XYZ and I suggest others do the same.
ReplyDeleteExactly. Which is why I asked XYZ to stop with his show trolling. It is causing confusion needlessly.
ReplyDeleteA18-49 1.08
ReplyDeleteViewers 3.287m
oh i was more speaking about the article being incorrect in saying it did not earn a season 3 renewal
ReplyDeleteSorry, that was my bad. Something spurious happened when I pasted it in.
ReplyDeleteShould be back to "normal" now :)
When you realize only thre of these shows are oming back in the fall, and only one of those is scripted.
ReplyDeleteLol, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteI noticed that also. I'm guessing he does it for page clicks. Take a popular term and if you google search it, his article will show up.
ReplyDeleteOf course they're profitable, they wouldn't be on the air if not. Sony packages it to make even more profit, that's kind of obvious. For some reason I can't press enter to make another paragraph, so I'm gonna continue here. NBC MUST be getting any profit out of those shows if they're still on the air and renewing them, and that should be extremely clear given that all of them are from other studios so NBC won't get anything from syndication. Hannibal has a wide high-income audience, Laura skews old, but it must be in the same range as the other Wednesday dramas and I think TNS has a nice male audience, so there you go some reasons to make profit.
ReplyDeleteHe has a serious fixation with any NBC show that does not come from Wolf Films. That's it.
ReplyDelete"Sony packages it to make even more profit, that's kind of obvious"
ReplyDeleteMy take is that packages occur to share the license fee across multiple properties to absorb any loses within a singular property. Basically, by itself the show wouldn't be worth continuing, but if they think something else will make a multiplier, they will balance it with the other.
Community is a good example. That's exactly what happened as it wasn't profitable but they had The Blacklist.
Is this Jacos again? Why exactly do we need to attack personally on stuff that isn't true? Can't we just stick to ratings?
ReplyDeleteFinal warning to all 3 of you.
ReplyDelete@Eduardo @XYZ and Jacos.
Stop with the personal comments/attacks. That will NOT be tolerated any longer. If you disagree with someone either ignore their comment or state why you disagree without resorting to personal attacks.
This is the last time I will warn any of you.
Did the following and Stalker have a Conclusion or did both of them sadly end on a cliffhanger that we will never see :( ?
ReplyDelete"This is the last time I will warn any of you."
ReplyDeleteUnderstood. I'll take the ignore option. It's better for all.
Best to ask in the appropriate posts

NBCUniversal had a share in Community (I don't know if they still do), but they have nothing on TNS, Laura or Hannibal. They must be making some profit out of those to keep airing/renewing them.
ReplyDeleteStalker ended with cliffhanger sadly thx CBS
ReplyDeleteBye bye Stalker and The Following.
ReplyDeleteBy "earn", he means that the ratings didn't warrant a renewal.
ReplyDeleteNBC will have a bunch of duds returning next season. How sad for them.
ReplyDeletethey really do,
ReplyDeleteABC has some (but they really didn't need them)
If you are thinking about the night shift, I seriously doubt we see it before summer (maybeee Sunday Spring, but even that I doubt it).
ReplyDeleteLaura, on the other hand...........
NBC is going to rapid fire though the midseason replacements. We should do an over/under on many actually air before the end of November.
ReplyDeleteConsidering they are the same crazy network who is letting American Odyssey sub 0.5 air through Sweeps and that allowed A to Z and Bad Judge to stay on the schedule until deep January... I don't see any reason to believe they would be pulling shows. It's almost a miracle that they pulled Allegiance.
ReplyDeleteAt least they serve some purpose for ABC. Nashville is close to syndication and has musical sales. Galavant also has music sales and American Crime has critical acclaim. TMoL and TNS have nothing. Why NBC scheduled TMoL in the fall is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteWell, NBC scheduled TMoL in the fall so you never know.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost like Allegiance was treated unfairly.
ReplyDeleteone of the dumbest move of the new season behind not using Empire as a lead in
ReplyDeletelmao
ReplyDeleteCrap
ReplyDeleteAnd not moving Nashville. Oddly, all of the above are on Wednesday, haha.
ReplyDeleteYeah LOL.
ReplyDeleteI agree in that I'm shocked Allegiance hasn't been pulled. Then again, the trend has been for all networks to air their underachievers throughout their entire order.
ReplyDeleteyup not moving nashville too
ReplyDeleteDid ask on the following there but still no answer sadly
ReplyDeleteThat's the writer's fault. Being the only new drama not to get a 2nd season renewal should have been telling.
ReplyDeleteThe following: 1.0
ReplyDeleteThe night shift: 1.2
ReplyDeleteStalker 1.2
ReplyDeleteVery good for DWTS The Bachelorette The Voice and 2 Broke Girls.
ReplyDeleteYeah Lol!
ReplyDeleteI think you mean Odyssey.
ReplyDeleteThe Bachelorette did really well. Hopefully the whispers can premiere ok behind it, although they really look incompatible
ReplyDeleteTMoL and TNS have something...lower budgets than AD/American Odyssey
ReplyDeleteThat's what worries me the most; The Bachelorette has a crazy high 18-34 viewing levels, it should be able to give some of them to The Whispers. 60% retention would be fine, but the incompatibility issue does worry a bit
ReplyDeletewow... the Bachelorette did do very well. A 2.1 at 10 pm is astounding.
ReplyDelete2 Bachlorettes was an ingenious twist as it sparked outside interest from those who probably wouldn't watch the show.
ReplyDeleteThe Voice did nicely.
ReplyDeleteWhat did 2BG did to get shoved into midseason? And if Angel from Hell flops gets pulled (which won't be any sooner than late November or early December), that's only one slot to air 3 midseason comedies. And 2 of those comedies have full season orders. Unless Supergirl premieres DOA ( which is very, very, very unlikely) and they have to restore the Monday at 8 comedy block.
ReplyDeleteHave you gotten a confirmation that those broke girls and mike and molly indeed have 22 episodes while the odd couple has 13? I too think that is likely but I have yet to see it confirmed
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad 2 Broke Girls went up 4 tenths from the previous episode. It was really starting to scare me.
ReplyDeleteIt's an assumption atm. We will probably find out during the summer TCA press tour.
ReplyDeleteABC was supposed to use NBA finals to launch The Whispers but I wonder what happened to that plan.
ReplyDeleteStill unscheduled.
ReplyDeleteHow is that related?
ReplyDeleteThat not really an incentive.
ReplyDeleteBecause it is unscheduled, I really have no idea why.
ReplyDeleteI wish they did, NBA finals would have been an amazing platform to launch a male skewing show. I wonder why they didn't do that, it made much more sense than launching it out of The Bachelorette
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how much CBS plays favorites.
ReplyDeleteI assume you are talking about Stalker.
ReplyDeleteMore about the comedies
ReplyDeleteWhat happened so that The CW isn't included?
ReplyDeleteWell, CBS doesn't own Life in Pieces and they are still airing it after TBBT in the fall.
ReplyDeleteThey are benching higher performing comedies for a bunch of failing dramas.
ReplyDeleteIn which way specifically, Bill 2?
ReplyDeleteI know its all about producion ompany, but the Monday comedies got benched with double the ratings as the renewed Sunday dramas.
ReplyDeleteAh. I agree, Bill 2.
ReplyDeleteanyone know half hours?
ReplyDeleteah, that makes sense. thanks for the clarification!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's baffling for me too. I hope it gets 22 eps though.
ReplyDeleteThey didn't air new shows, TO and JtV finales were last week. I guess they had some repeats.
ReplyDeleteThe Voice-2.5/2.5/2.6/2.7
ReplyDeleteDWTS-2.1/2.3
The Bachelorette-2.2/2.1/2.1/2.0
Stalker-1.3/1.2
NCIS: LA-1.5/1.4
The Following-1.0/0.9/0.9/0.9
Good 2 BGs rose
ReplyDeleteStill, they always include repeats and stuff...
ReplyDelete
