Note: The following labels are based on the household overnights and are subject to change given the availability of other pending data streams. The overnights are your first look at what to potentially expect when the other results come in. And we always take into account other benchmarks including the expected demographic ratings, potential DVR usage, the critical acclaim (or lack of) and the social media presence. Keep in mind, as always, that results for any live sporting event are always approximate.

    “2015 Billboard Music Awards” (ABC)

-No Longer the Forces They Once Were:

    Ratings Breakdown:
It was an easy Sunday overnight victory for ABC care of the “2015 Billboard Music Awards,” which scored a 7.6 rating/13 share in households from 8-11 p.m. (peaking in the 9:30 p.m. half hour at an 8.1/13). Comparably, this was 13 percent above the 6.7/11 for the “Billboard Music Awards” on the year-ago evening, and that 6.7 rating in the household overnights translated into 10.74 million viewers and a 3.5 rating/10 share in adults 18-49 (based on the Live + Same Day dat)a. Earlier in the evening on ABC was the season-finale of veteran “America’s Funniest Home Videos” at a 4.1/ 8 (#2t) from 7-8 p.m.

CBS finished a distant second overall in the overnights with its combination of older-skewing granddaddy newsmagazine “60 Minutes” (#1: 6.6/12); “The I Love Lucy Superstar Special” (#3: 4.1/ 7), featuring the colorized version of episodes “L.A. at Last!” and “Lucy and Superman;” and two episodes of canceled crime solver “Battle Creek” (9 p.m.: #2: 3.4/ 5; 10 p.m.: #2: 3.3/ 6). Comparably, this third “I Love Lucy” special slipped by 34 percent from the most recent (in this time period) on Dec. 7, 2014 (6.2/ 9, featuring the Christmas and “Job Switching” episodes).

    Over at NBC, a two-hour edition of “Dateline” got some mileage with a 4.1/ 7 in the overnights from 7-9 p.m. But “A.D.: The Bible Continues” dropped to a 3.1/ 5 from 9-10 p.m. (#3), followed by canceled “American Odyssey” at a mere 1.8/ 3 at 10 p.m. (#3).

Diluted Fox opened with a repeat of “The Simpsons” (#4: 1.2/ 2) and an original installment of “Bob’s Burgers” (#4: 1.2/ 2) from 7-8 p.m., followed by the season-finale episodes of the regularly scheduled edition of “The Simpsons” (#4: 1.9/ 3), “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” (#4: 1.7/ 3), “Family Guy” (#4: 2.0/ 3) and the regularly scheduled “Bob’s Burgers” (#4: 1.6/ 3) from 8-10 p.m. Year-to-year, veteran “The Simpsons” and “Family Guy” (at 8:30 p.m. on 5/18/14) dropped by 21 percent and 29 percent, respectfully, in the overnights. Despite the slippage all season, Fox is keeping its Sunday line-up intact next fall.
