You test for a pilot and after going through auditions in front of the studio and network execs, you get cast. You shoot the pilot and wait for it to get picked. And when the pilot is finally picked up, you get recast. Hollywood is brutal.
They're recasting Don Hany in Heartbreaker too. He's a really good actor and the main reason I was going to watch it. Who knows why they do these things.
Thanks for that last unwanted "follow". That's the eighth one today since I asked you to stop. I'm leaving that up for a while as further evidence of your cyberstalking. Be advised that I've also noticed that you've been drastically reducing the number of other posters you've been following. Hiding something? My complaint to Disqus is in process. All of these ABC recasting is just reconfirming my belief that ABC's new show slate is not strong at all. If they were happy, there wouldn't be all these changes.
No, as far as I understand, the reason the male lead on the Catch is going to be recast is because the old actor has a huge recurring role on an ABC family show, Stitchers.
Not sure if that's really the reason, since Stitchers already wrapped it's first ordered episodes, but that's what I got from it.
However, they are recasting the role of Zoe on The Catch because they changed the role (to make it more edgy I believe) so maybe they also changed the role for the male lead so much that the old actor didn't fit the role anymore.
Recasting is pretty standard... but it seems to be in a bit more of a full force this season. Started early and it's quite a few of switches considering it's barely been a week since the upfronts...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
You get a recast, you get a recast, everyone gets a recast.
ReplyDeleteYou mean ABC.
ReplyDeleteYeah, lots of recasting on ABC shows.
ReplyDeleteAmazing!!!
ReplyDeleteThe thing with recasting is if the character has a big part in the pilot I hate it when they don't explain why they aren't in the next episode!

ReplyDeleteA new actor will be cast for the same role and his scenes in the pilot will be reshot.
ReplyDeleteHapenning quite early this year.
ReplyDeleteWhat is going on these days xD
ReplyDeleteWhat will be next? Ken Jeong recast on Dr. Ken? The Muppets recast?
I wouldn't be surprised. I found the trailer for Dr. Ken cringe-worthy.
ReplyDelete*better actors
ReplyDeleteWho is he was he even in the pilot?
ReplyDeleteThe Catch also recast its male lead earlier today.
ReplyDeleteSo was the male lead a bad actor for them to recast?
ReplyDelete*hopefully

ReplyDeleteYep, I saw.
ReplyDeleteFBI Special Agent Liam O’Connor
ReplyDeleteDougray Scott is definitely not a bad actor.
ReplyDeleteI'm referring to The Catch male lead. I don't even remember that guy from the Quantico trailer.
ReplyDeleteGotcha
ReplyDeleteI wish ABC had done this with this years Bachelorette's Britt and Kaitlyn. ZING !

ReplyDeleteWhat is the matter here?
ReplyDeleteA shame - he would have been a good addition to the cast.

He probably has a crap American accent.
ReplyDeleteBut you're right, it is brutal. Just ask Captain Pike.
Oh lol was just eying to say no one was goin to mis him lol.
ReplyDeleteHe's in literally most of the team and flashforward scenes damn! What's up with all these recastings.
ReplyDeleteThe catch has lost half its main cast by now.
Is all this recasting normal?
ReplyDeleteOh! Not great. He was one of the draws to the show for me... :(
ReplyDeleteRight?!
ReplyDeleteHEY! Dougray Scott is AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteThey were lucky to have him in the first place....
Recasting is pretty standard... but it seems to be in a bit more of a full force this season. Started early and it's quite a few of switches considering it's barely been a week since the upfronts...
ReplyDeleteIs this due to focus groups during test screenings?
ReplyDeleteAhahahaha you won the internet today.
ReplyDeleteAnd the network 1) won't pick up the show; or 2) cancel before the premiere
ReplyDeleteShoot a pilot with an A list actors - the show gets picked up. After that, recast all of them. LOL.
ReplyDeleteNone of the actors recast are A list so far...
ReplyDeleteWhen recasting happens this early re-shoots usually are what happens. So that part I'm not worried about at all.
ReplyDeleteAfter seeing the pilot I thought Dougray Scott was a weak link in the episode. So this makes sense to me.
