I really enjoyed this episode, more so than the pilot, then again is that really a surprise? I mean hello, M. Night, enough said, am I right? Lol I felt it was just deeper, it didn't answer many questions, (or questions at all really) but it was more intense. The people in the town acted a lot less...fake. Yeah, fake's the word. They acted more terrified than anything else. And now I'm really into it to the point where I'm asking, whyyy does this have to be ten episodes?? I didn't read the book, I have no intentions on reading the book, I'm good with this show, but I'm pretty sure the book wasn't ten chapters, so why can't this series be longer? Why can't we get more episodes or another season of this?? Is the entire book going to be covered in ten episodes?? I don't get it! It's frustrating. You know what else is frustrating??
They killed the one person I really liked! Seriously??? That made me so mad. I didn't see that coming til the dinner scene, b/c she was sooo jumpy. And I didn't expect the whole freaking town to go after them. I mean damn! That sucks. What would make this sooo simple if they all just banded together and killed the sheriff. Boom. Bam. Done. Then they can all go home. But of course, it's more complicated than that, but I still want the sheriff dead. Lol Especially after tonight. And Kate, wtf?? This should be killing her, (given her past) but no she snitched on her. That's messed up. Now I kinda don't feel sorry for Kate at all and wish Ethan would say, "F*ck her." And worry about himself.
I'm really looking forward to next week. I'll feel really bad when his wife and kid become part of this crazy ass town.
Actually, they are adapting the entire trilogy into these 10 episodes. They are more or less two thirds through book one already, the show is gonna drastically change in the next couple of episodes assuming they are adapting faithfully. (The pilot was virtually identical to its part of the book though). And honestly... This is best as a one season show for sure. Excited for the ride, though.
I think it's stupid. A show isn't best as a "one season show" it's barely a show if it has one season. One season show is like a test run. It's either going to get a second chance or it's going to get cancelled. And if what you're saying is true that they're throwing all three books into this..."event" then that's what i'll think of it as, an event. Just an event. I'll just think of it as a Stephen King project. Yeah that works for me. Hahaha. Either way this is interesting and is helping me through the beginning of my hiatus phase. I have one show left (3 episodes remaining), and once that ends, ALL of my shows are on hiatus.
A lot of shows actually work well as one-off shows that only need a single run to tell an entire story without having to go through years. You'd know if you watch a lot of foreign shows, especially the ones from Korea, Japan and Taiwan where their dramas that span as little as 10 to as much as 20 (50 if it's sentai or a family drama) episodes airing within a year.
Well i definitely don't and that's a huge waste on me. (foreign films different story) Sorry not my cup of tea. I watch/like shows that last. Anything that last 3 or more seasons is a win in my book. I don't go for "short series." Unless it's actually a mini series.
Then Hanazakarino Kimitach e (also known simply as Hana Kimi in Japan) is what I would recommend. It's only 12 episodes that's based on a popular comic book and it's absolutely hilarious. :)
Basic premise is that a Japanese-American girl went to Japan to help her long-time tennis crush regain the will to play. Only problem is that the guy goes to an all-boys school so she disguised herself as a boy to enroll there (Go figure how she managed to slip through the cracks hehe).
What happens after is a series of hilarity, chaos, close-calls, and so much more. :)
I disagree. You may want to watch 1968's 'The Prisoner'. While some will say that there should have been another season, it had a very well defined story arc, with a finale that people still talk about to this day, with the solution to the show literally being the interpretation of a single line of dialogue. You should not prolong the story for the sake of hearing yourself speak. There is beauty in brevity.
I'm still enjoying the directing, the cinematography and the acting the most, because really I have like NO idea what the hell is going on plot wise... but I am for sure interested to find out! So they're definitely doing something right!
I was surprised to see Beverly die so soon. I had a feeling she wasn't going to make it out alive by the end of the series, but I did think she'd get a few more episodes in before this happened. Hope we get to see more of her in flashbacks or something.
Originally I thought the bits with Theresa were happening concurrently with Ethan's story, but now that Ethan has seen them in Wayward Pines, I'm thinking they might actually be flashbacks...
If in fact this place where he is, is like what I think it is then she could still be alive, but I'm not 100% sure about what is going on I just have a really strong hunch.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteWhat did you think of tonight's episode?
I was at the edge of my seat at the final scene of the episode. Did Beverly really had to die? GAAAH!

ReplyDeleteI have a feeling Beverly will not be gone, because on IMBD she listed as a cast member in all 10 episodes.

Oh it's one of those. Except she's not doing it for herself, but doing it for some boy. Eh. I'll give it a glance only b/c I play tennis.
ReplyDeletehehe
ReplyDeleteDamn i wasnt expecting beverly to die at all. I am loving this show!

Lol
ReplyDeleteI disagree with you disagreeing. Lol To each its own.
ReplyDeleteWould you prefer one long Wayward Pines "Stranger in a Strange Land"-esqe season that did nothing but explain Ethan's tattoos? LOL
ReplyDeleteThere's so much I wanna tell you about this show but I'll let you figure it out yourself. :)
ReplyDeleteSolid second episode.
