If episode 10 ends where the trilogy does I am hoping it gets good ratings, but not good enough to make them order a second season. I definitely don't want another UtD. Ha
I loved it. Firstly the opening shots were great, I loved the cinematography and the eerie and creepy vibe. I like Beverly already, except I don’t completely trust her. Nice to see Carla Gugino again, I haven't seen her on anything since Spy Kids :)
I’m hoping it gets good ratings because this is one of FOX’s best pilots beside Empire of the 2014-15 Season. Really looking forward to the next episode.
It did its job in that it intrigued me and entertained me. I hope they at least solve it somewhat and don't leave on a cliffhanger. But so far everything seems cool.
I loved the cinematography and the scenery all providing the creepy vibe. I felt like I was in the twilight zone with this man. I felt his frustrated and angst. One of the best scenes is when he takes the car and the road leads him back into town. And Melissa Leo as the nurse was just brilliant.
Wayward Pines had one of the best series premiere I have seen in a while. The acting was top notch. I need more Melissa Leo. She had me on the edge of my seat. I'm in for the journey. The show just looks good on the TV screen.
Does anyone remember Persons Unknown on NBC from 2010? Wayward Pines shares a lot with the premise of that show (except this town isn't empty) but this is unfolding a lot more quickly.
There's a lot of things I liked about it, but with M.Night involved I'm still weary it can go downhill very fast. I'll still check it out next week too though. It intrigued me enough to keep watching.
I need to know the ending so i can see the show, it's been bothering since this show was announced, and i don't usually harp on knowing the ending but in this instance i need it.
Loved this show. It really intrigued me and creeped me out and left me wanting more - now!! Lol. The cast was fantastic. Melissa Leo was especially wonderful. Can't wait for more!
It premiered in my country yesterday too...I can´t decide my toughts exactly - I´ll go with intriguing and I´ll keep watching as I have no idea what the hell is going on in that place! And I think it´s based on some book, so I wo´t read the comments because probably someone knows and I don´t want to be spoiled:(
Things I can finally discuss and/or picked up on the rewatch
Lost- opening- may suggest that Wayward Pines is a hard place to escape/space-time displacement Mystic River - Agents looking for what happened to other agents Shutter Island - some 1940's/50's Aesthetic/technology + Hospital in particular reeked of "lobotomy" The Shinning - Again old things and perhaps the show is playing with time (see below .) Policie officer not letting one "escape" Twin Peeks - the over all feel f the town and oddity of almost every character.
Ok so I think it's safe to assume that there is a conspiracy, especially by the ending with the conversation between Adam and creepy Dr. Jenkins...and the fact whatever is happening can't be taken back...
As for Ethan Burke, I think he has been to Wayward Pines before. Beverley says, "I ALWAYS Believe You"---implying that this is a continious ongoing thing.
However, just because we have a conspiracy, doesn't mean that Ethan Burke couldn't also have a dissascioiative identity disorder like Edward "Teddy" Daniels did in Shutter Island. There is something weird going on with Beverley and Kate and perception of space-time:
Beverley believes that it is the year 2000 and that she has been there for almost a year via motorcycle accident and something pertaining to Y2K. Ethan believes that it is 2015, so by his standards that's a FIVE year difference. Kate doesn't state what year she believes it is, but thinks she has been there for 12 years, but Ethan comments that Kate has been missing for only FIVE years...Kate doesn't want to associate with him, has bright color clothes-upper middle class-esque and Beverley keeps helping him (like a partner would), but wears dark clothes, isn't verbally eloquent, doesn't behave like other people, and leads Ethan to the rotting body of Agent Evans...So there is an interesting juxtaposition between those characters there.
Notes: Why would there be an old house like that only six blocks from the Sheriffs office? Why would the body be left exposed?
Ethan Burke's patient or experimentee number is 10-16-28
I haven't read the novel so I don't know at all what's coming....
I like this new show. I had to laugh at the beginning though with a little flashback from LOST with the guy waking up in the forest just like our very own Jack in the jungle scene! LOL In fact it seems there were many little moments pulled from other shows that seem okay at this point but I do want to see some original "wow" moments from the writers or it could get to the point where it will just seem like stealing scenes to piece the episode together each week.
I think they've got some great character's who already have enough mystery to their storylines to keep this going.Let's hope the writing gets even better with each episode or it may turn into another "Persons Unknown" Lol
The most intriguing thing for me is the aspect of what is going on with time. I loved that so much from "Fringe" and miss the idea of that in a sci-fi series if that is what this new show might be categorized as.
Not a big fan of M. Night but I'm willing to give this a few more episodes cause I miss having a new sci fi type show to watch that doesn't have aliens in!! :)
I loved the books as well! I'm really looking forward to seeing how they develop them throughout these 10 episodes. I read that all 3 books will be covered in the first 10 episodes.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
It was Awesome! Hopefully, it will do well in the ratings.

ReplyDeleteWayward Pines had an amazing first episode. Much better than Under The Dome.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why FOX waited so long to premiere this series. It was a lot better than their typical genre show.
I loved it. Firstly the opening shots were great, I loved the cinematography and the eerie and creepy vibe. I like Beverly already, except I don’t completely trust her. Nice to see Carla Gugino again, I haven't seen her on anything since Spy Kids :)

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely, She was wonderful :) Looking forward to more of her and her creepiness.
ReplyDeleteWatched it last week and loved it, I'm looking forward to more :)
ReplyDeleteAnyone want to help me understand the premise of the show....I know it based on a book so
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone remember Persons Unknown on NBC from 2010? Wayward Pines shares a lot with the premise of that show (except this town isn't empty) but this is unfolding a lot more quickly.
ReplyDeleteHaven't seen yet but isn't it like twin peaks apparently?

one long hallucination?
ReplyDeleteThis show reminded me of the old series called The Prisoner starring Patrick McGoohan. It definitely had the same feel to it.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how long I'll keep watching though.

ReplyDeleteGrab the books, I'm not sure if the TV show will end like the books do, but the ending of the books will blow your mind!
