Lying, talking to rats, and throwing Sam under the bus ; just another day in the giant Microsoft commercial passing itself off as Supernatural.
That was just the absolute cringe fest. The good news is, I don't think the show can sink any lower.
I mean the main plot is what it is, but then you've got the tablet the super zooming tablet, Crowley being season 10 Crowley, Dean chaining that guy up but only on one hand, the ridiculous revelation that Styne = Frankenstein, Charlie running off for some reason... I mean, when freaking ROWENA is a high point of the episode, you know something's really, really wrong here.
Only two weeks left of this and then just maybe the show can become bearable again.
Crazy as this sounds, I actually voted awesome. The whole thing was pretty funny, and reservations aside, I think they did a good job with Charlie's death. It put the choices clearly on Charlie's shoulders, and her death was needed to act as a catalyst to get both Sam and Dean to the next stage In their stories.
DAMN IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE DOESN'T DESERVE THIS ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
People have been talking about Charlie dying for weeks but it became real to me because of 2 things: 1) when Charlie left by herself, and 2) next weeks episode description says that "Sam tries to deal with the consequences of his actions".
I don't really get how people are voting that this was an Awful episode, by them saying that they are making the episode Bloodlines from season 9 look amazing when it was the worst episode in the entire SPN series it's even voted the worst on IMDb.
Really liked the Frankenstein twist. I didn't see that coming. Wonder who the name was that Crowley sent the minion to look for? Hated that they killed Charlie but she knew the risk and took it to help Dean. I don't understand why Cas can no longer "pop" to locations? Sam and Dean's faces at the end were heartbreaking. The guilt they will both feel will be horrible. Can't believe we only have 2 more episodes. As much as I hated what happened I though the episode was good.
Many of the "awful" voters probably seriously pissed off with Charlie's death. I am waiting for "misogyny" comments, they are coming, I can feel it. It was "OK' for me, annoying product placement really ruin it.
I feel like the mystery person — Rowena’s “demon lover” is Crowley’s dad. It’d be interesting to learn more about him, and tbh, I kind of enjoy Royena’s debut on Spn and if Crowley’s dad isn’t more different, why not?
Castiel can still heal. He could even heal when he was working with 'stolen' grace. He healed Metatron's neck wound after he slit his throat to steal his grace. It's just the wings that are broken.
She really shouldn't have. It's a shame they had to introduce this nonsensical decision from her to try to alleviate some of Sam's guilt. Truth is Charlie's death is on him and that's it. And it just makes me a bit uncomfortable to watch a show where supporting character happily go to the slaughter for the main cast.
2 thoughts: 1) maybe Cas can heal the living but is not at full strength to resurrect the dead......or 2) maybe because Charlie's soul is in Heaven and Cas has been banished from Heaven again.
I agree that the supporting characters should not be sacrificed so much and that Sam had a role in this. But Charlie's decision to leave put her in a position to get killed where no one was there to protect her. I think it was stupid and out of character for her leave but Charlie did something stupid that got her killed.
I don't think it was on him. He'll feel guilty, and Dean will blame him, but it wasn't really on Sam. Sam disclosed all of the risks to Charlie, and she agreed. He brought in an angel to protect her, and she ditched the angel, knowing she was being hunted by the Steins. And then both Sam and Dean told Charlie to give the Steins whatever she wanted, but she made a choice. In the end it wasn't either Rowena or the book that did her in, but someone who was hunting her before Sam asked for her help. I can't remember who asked her originally to go after the book though.
This episode was crap and seriously Charlie is a smart girl. I don't buy for a second that she'd run off by herself. The writing this season has hit an all time low and now due to Sam's lies by omission and the writer's making Charlie out to be a complete moron, she paid the ultimate price. I am soooo over this clusterfrak season. My recommendation for season eleven? Get rid of all the craptastic writers and/or bring Kripke back. This show was once brilliant. Now it's a royal suckfest.
If Crowley's father was Rowena's demon lover and Crowley's father was still 'alive' then wouldn't that make Crowley's father one of Crowley's subjects since Crowley is the king of Hell?
I'm not sure why you would mention IMDB as if it meant anything, but I voted awful and I mean it. At least Bloodlines was just a failed experiment, not a slap in the face. That was basically 35 minutes of Sam lying his ass off, followed by the lamest character death in a show that specializes in lame character deaths. If you liked it, good on you, but please refrain from calling people out because they didn't.
Charlie took her laptop to a motel to work alone and without Rowena. Charlie told Cas that she needed to have some alone time. There was no reference to the book. Charlie was working as a code breaker using the computer to find patterns. That is what she did at the motel, she just figured out the pattern.
Supernatural is the same as it ever was. The brothers trying to save each other while keeping secrets and collateral damage following. This time it's Sam that is going to take the hit because he lied to Dean about destroying TBotD and enlisted Cas and Charlie's help to decode the book. The collateral damage in this case being that Charlie is now dead. Can't wait to see how Dean handles finding out Sam has Rowena locked up with the promise that he will kill Crowley. Que Dean screaming at Sam with Sam being overwrought with guilt. Why do the writers want to screw over Sam's character over and over? Why are they killing off characters who have become family to Sam and Dean? Even though the brothers are the heart of the show, Supernatural can and should involve more characters than just Sam and Dean.
The only interesting part of this episode was the Stein twist. Other than that, it was a disaster. Now we get to see everyone blame Sam for Charlie's death ... no one more so than Sam himself. Why didn't she stay with Cas? Charlie knew the Steins were after her and how dangerous it was for her to be out there on her own. I know why ... it was a p*ss poor plot twits to amp up the suspense and put Sam and Dean at odds with each other for the hundredth time.
Don't worry, I won't blame Sam for the crappy writing, I'm too used to it. But a lot of people will and I can't blame them, Carver is really trying his best to make Sam a pariah in this fandom, that's what pisses me off the most.
This old plot has been happening since almost the start of SPN. There's always something to get them blaming each other. It's a really old plot now. The writers right now have done nothing new and it's getting boring.
I thought Charlie ditched Cas and Rowena because Rowena was driving her nuts, but I might have missed something. I'm not sure what else she expected to find in her motel room with just her computer. She had her computer when she was with Rowena too.
I only mentioned that site because they rated Bloodlines as the worst episode, other then that I don't support their ratings for other things. I'm not really calling anyone out all I said is I don't get how they can say this is an awful episode I didn't call anyone offensive words or anything.
I completely expect that people who hate Sam will hate Sam. My criteria is that the story is fair, and in this case I think it was. I'll just duck the SPN Internet boards for a while if I have to.
I think you missed the point. I wish the writers would stop having Dean & Sam take turns lying to each other. I'm just saying that the writers had Sam do the lying to save Dean this time because Dean lied last season to save Sam.
Totally. I'm apparently the rare fan that doesn't bitch about every recurring character dying, because I've been watching the show for 10 years, and am used to and love the fact that no one is safe. Charlie dying, made sense for the story, 100%.
I said Sam's lies by omission. I didn't say those lies were directed at Charlie. He just drug her, Cas, and Rowena into his lies to Dean. In the end, she suffered the consequences by doing the stupidest, out of character thing even. Sam will feel guilty for that and rightfully so.
They actually laid out the Frankenstein twist in Book of the Damned, the Styne family crest is the same as the Frankenstein family crest in Young Frankenstein.
Season 5 he couldn't heal Bobby because he was cut off from Heaven, so it may be the same case with not being able to resurrect Charlie since he is currently banned.
Apparently I failed yet again. I keep saying I do NOT agree with what the writers are doing. I do NOT think the writers NEED to have the brothers take turns lying to each other. I was explaining how the writers think and why the writers are doing what they are doing.
What does his lies to Dean have to do with anything? He was totally upfront with Charlie and Cas, and they made their choices because they agreed that they wanted to help save Dean. Not all decisions are Dean's to make..
Sam lying to Dean left Charlie unprotected and bad writing had her running off like an idjit. Pure stupidity all around. Dean wouldn't have left her unprotected and Sam will have to live with that. I blame the craptastic writing.
Sam didnt leave her unprotected. He left her with Castiel so he left her very protected. She's the one who chose to leave her protective detail behind.
They just don't value the fanbase. They have a huge female driven demographic, and a lot of queer fans and they get rid of the one character who represents us and who they've worked hard to make us love and identify with. This series isn't entertainment for me now. This is that one episode that put the final nail on the coffin for me. I can't watch this series anymore. I wish Charlie would have been given her own spin-off. Or just been allowed to leave off (like she had to Oz). Killing her wasn't just unnecessary, it was rather cruel to, to fans. I don't know. I'm too upset to say more...
People like you who have small mind should keep their mouth shut,so they can't say stupid shit, you didn't like the rat scene, well, sam was a car back in season 5,wanna read something? turn off the tv,you can't understand a great show, die slowly :D
I agree that it was out of character for her but my comment was in response to your comment," Sam lying to Dean left Charlie unprotected". Charlie was more protected with the angel protection Sam left her with then she was on her own. Charlie put herself in danger by leaving her angel protection.
As is, if we are counting 2+ appearances as recurring there are 28 currently still living. 26 if you don't count Crowley and Cas, and even then only about a quarter of them appear on a regular basis. So yeah, the pool of characters is pretty small.
Charlie was more of a grown women with a teenager mind. So I see today her character was written ditsy in got herself killed. They never got the right balance with her so It's whatever.
And no. This wasn't Sam's fault. She knew what she was getting into and she even told Dean so. It was also her decision to run off (out of character, IMO). She put herself in a more dabger situation.
It sucks, I loved her. But Sam isn't to be blamed.
I only voted "good" because I thought the first half of the episode was tedious (humor aside) but the second half was seriously intense. Agree that Charlie did what she did of her own motivations. And I agree that they did a good job with Charlie's death. Pleasantly surprised that they did not show Charlie getting killed – that might have felt gratuitous. The way it was depicted, while gruesome, seemed less like an exploitation.
I am all too aware that it is easy to misunderstand someone via online communication. I have no problem debating a point of view, but I also know that some people can take this stuff way too seriously. Everyone misreads something at some point.
Definitely. People can get really touchy sometimes. I don't upset with anyone unless I really think someone is attacking me personally (versus my point of view on a subject that is debatable). It's just TV afterall.
Then Crowley would have been born as one of those 'abominations' like that waitress that Castiel killed at the end of season 8 when he thought Metatron was trying to 'save' heaven.
Wow. I was quite literally on the edge of my seat (couch, specifically) for the second half of the episode. First half was very Buckner/Ross-Lemming (awkward dialogue, lots and lots and lots and lots of talking, plodding pace), but the second half ratcheted up the intensity and the heart.
The scene where Dean reveals to Sam that he knows about the Book gave me chills. The angle, Dean's movements – that was the scariest I've seen Dean this season. And this was with Sam. Holy cow.
And Charlie's death. Knew it was coming, but the music and the frenetic pacing still made my heart clench. Glad they did not show her death. What could have been gratuitous was instead just tragic. Because Charlie made her own choices. She chose, at every turn, to keep going and to do what she was doing in order to help Dean. Her last act was an act of sacrifice. I know Sam will blame himself anyway, but I have hope based on the preview that Dean will channel his rage towards the Stynes and not Sam.
Thanks,i'll take the compliments, but i won't take away my words, because these aren't only for you,i'm just tired of these fans that complain about everything, yeah the show isn't like it was before, but it still good, has its flaws too but no big deal, just stop watching the show, you seem like a small minded and dumb person, dumb man
Ah true, but I have always had a theory about that. See perhaps he hid is grace for a time to become human, met Rowena, taught her a few things. Claimed he was a demon. Fell in love with her, then had baby Fergus, who lived a mortal life. Or He was born a Nefillam and either Metatron or Rowena took his grace when he was a baby. *sigh* So many interesting theories lie around Crowley as many, even Mark Sheppard, think that he is more than just a demon
Yep it's more ammo. But the important thing is I saw with my own two eyes what happen. In im not going to have some fans hatred dictate what I saw.
This is like me telling somebody don't cross the street during rush hour. In what that person do? Cross the street during rush hour in get hit. I will feel bad but it's not on me.
Charile was warned. In really I still shake my head on why she got into this life. She never had a bullseye on her back like Sam and Dean did. They had this character jump into it like it was the next video game.
Why watch it again? i can undestand a great show kiddo, and its ok,nice to meet you, please take my words with you, they're with love, love from someone that hates people like you, affection from someone who wants to kill you,now please moderators, take my ass to purgatory,i'm ready..
Prefiro não me formar em "Supernatural"... desisti já faz tempo. Ainda dou uma olhada para saber se melhorou. Tenho coisas mais importantes para fazer do que perder meu tempo com "isso". Koe Cheiroso.
Her running off was twofold IMO... she was getting distracted by Rowena (that woman needs to die) and she didn't really trust her either (did I mention she needs to die?)
Actually, he wasn't totally upfront with them, or at least with Castiel. He (Cas) had to find out from Rowena herself that Crowley is her son which might have been something that Sam really should have told him. Still, you are right, of course, Sam's lies did not cause Charlie's death.
I find it funny that the episode is most rated as "awful" because Charlie died, but every time she was on people complained and ratings went down...don't get me wrong I love(d) Charlie, I just find it interesting.
I was somehow excited about the 3 last episodes after reading Jensen's interview. After seeing what the Awful Duo did to create a situation to set Dean off and all the rest of the episode, some points come to my mind:
- When Charlie died, I thought imediately "Cas can ress her" and then when I watch the preview for the next episode, I was like "What kind of bullsh*t they are going to say to prevent Cas to ress her? He couldn't do it with Kevin because he had no power. Not the same situation now." . And Charlie's death sets Dean off. I knew it'd happen but it was so contrived (Charlie leaving Cas and Rowena and pretty much forgetting all about her super ultra ninja skills) that I feel it took away some of whatever impact this awful MoC storyline will have. Dean becomes a murder machine, true, but the reason is weak, so weak. Especially when nothing is happening to him so far. He played minigolf for god's sake. I like good stories. But this MoC storyline is so badly paced that it only took 30+ episodes to something happens ( and I have the impression that it will continue in season 11). So for me Cas not ressing her is a ENORMOUS plot hole. Maybe kidnapping her was a better way...
- Frankenstein? Really? Really??? Doc Benton (season 3) anyone? What's next? Dracula? Teletubbies? Here I was hoping for something better with the Stynes.
- Sam living under the bus, nothing new. Let the Dean blaming Sam situation start...
- Rowena was really good. I think she was the best character.
- I still stand by my idea that Dean locks Sam up, but only for a different reason. I thought he'd do it to protect Sam but now it's for Sam not stopping him. All things are pointing to Dean killing Sam scenario. Dean will be so far gone that Sam will try to reach out and he'll be back for a short time and when we think he's in control, BAM, he kills Sam, and back to being a demon ( which would make the entire season 10 pointless).
don't like how Charlie (why she not pray for Cas and the brothers don't call him for help) dies, but the episode was good. The revelation of Frankentsteins family don't give us chills, but still is a new mythology to explore.
No, I understand that, but I meant (at least with my second "ratings") that Nielsen ratings went down whenever Charlie came on, but now there's a huge uproar on social media that she's gone...not just SpoilerTV...
I think I can finally stop watching this show. Charlie wasn't my favorite character but this season has been terrible and I told myself if charlie or jodi die (Next season jodi will most likely die) I'm done with supernatural. I'm sort of relieved one less show to keep track of.
I'm a fan and I'm happy Charlie was killed off. And how did they "work hard" to make people love her? She was in 7 episodes of over 200. Was she automatically loved because she was a lesbian? Just a heads up, people of all sexual orientation can be annoying. If they left her the way she was in the first two episodes, she would have been fine, but they turned her into a Mary Sue. I'm going to be pissed if this characters death affects the guys mote than other more significant deaths have.
Well you never what part of the fanbase Nielsen viewers belong to, but Charlie was always waaaaay more popular than what commenters on SpoilerTV or IMDB suggested ^^
One and only Sam's fault is to entrust the moron angel to protect one woman. Sam should keep in his mind what had happened when Cas went to the store. Heaven crumbled.
Do you remember last episode when Cas was apologising to Amelia for not being able to heal her as much as he would have liked to? He mentioned how 'once' he would have been able to do it, which implies that either (a) Metatron's been fiddling around with his grace or (b) a sizeable portion of it was used up during the spell to cast the angels out of heaven. It should also be noted that Cas was unable to bring Amelia back to life as well, which does seem to suggest that he does not possess the same level power as he did before - at least in contrast to an angel like Gadrel, who last season, was reviving people like it was about to go out of style.
Yeah, I know, I know, it was a single line of dialogue. But I believe were meant to infer from that why it is that Castiel can't yank Charlie (and others!) back into the land of the living.
When Dean leaves the room, leaving him chained up, I couldn't help but think of all of the fandom wank about leaving Abaddon alone. But really - not aimed at you specifically - but I'm tired of the fandom's constant need to assign blame whenever something bad happens. One of the first things we learned about the Winchester world is that their world is much too dangerous for everyone. It's why they fight it.
In response to other comments on this thread, thinking more about Charlie, I don't think it was OOC for her to go off on her own. She's always been portrayed as a very independent character who grew up with little family so is not used to having to report in to anyone, who takes huge chances (such as going off to Oz). Plus, she was alone at the beginning of the episode before Sam met with her. The Stynes were looking for her and the book then, and they were looking for her a few hours later when she returned to her motel room.
One thing I don't understand is why it's so important to have someone "represent" fans on the show. I'm a female, and I watch and love a number of show with strong female leads, but I'm equally okay with shows that are male-centric too. This show has always had a male-only family at its core (not counting Mary because she was killed in the pilot flashbacks), while other miscellaneous characters come and go. My two cents anyway, for what it's worth.
Sad and Tragic ending-I have disliked Charlie for quite some time now but i never thought the writers would get rid of the character like that.Brutally murdered, really? That's a low blow! Let the blame game begin!
Ugh . . . I'm watching it now before I head off to work, and I just had to stop and post my complete frustration with this crappy, NON-STORY that is the MOC. Sam just told Rowena that Dean was getting worse, and he just told Charlie that Dean would be "gone" soon if they didn't find this cure. I'm sorry but . . . . . WHAT IS HE TALKING ABOUT?!?!?!?!!??! I feel like pulling out my hair b/c I see absolutely NOTHING WRONG w/Dean! How is Dean getting worse? How was he bad in the first place? So Dean enjoys hunting right now . . . . okay . . . . since when hasn't Dean enjoyed hunting?!?! Who is writing this show? This story sucks! It just does not work for me. It is all "tell" and no "show." I want to see Dean's "violent urges, creepy visions, and dark thoughts." He is mostly seen behaving normally.
And I don't care what anyone says . . . . there is literally NO legitimate reason Sam is keeping this a secret from Dean. What would Dean do if he knew? Kill Sam? Lock Sam up? I doubt it. He'd likely do nothing. This is just manufactured, contrived drama since the writers are clearly out of new, fresh ideas. I did just love Castiel's call to Sam that Dean intercepted. That scene was hilarious.
Dean would get dictatorial about having his way, but I miss the Sam that would just say, "I'm doing what I'm doing just because ..." But unfortunately the writers decided they needed to rewrite Sam's character and have the rebellious younger brother afraid to stand up to Dean now.
I agree with you that the "Dean's getting worse" was almost played to a comical level this week because Dean seemed like the most well-adjusted person in the episode.
Killed off the female protagonist for cheap sensationalistic effect and contrived drama just once too often, for my taste. The show has become more and more repetitive with each season. Time for it to end.
Exactly! Where is the Sam of old who would tell Dean he was going to do what he wanted when it came to saving Dean? What does Sam think Dean would do to him anyway? Why can't he tell Dean he's researching it? What is the point of the manufactured angst and conflict? Isn't the MOC enough of an external conflict? Why must we always get an internal conflict? I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees ZERO problem w/Dean. He seems fine and well-adjusted to me. The idea that he's gonna go insane b/c Charlie died is just . . .. ugh. I wish he would have been on the edge this entire season instead of very well-adjusted!
Yeah, I've stopped commenting on how well Dean seems to be doing because I felt like I was beating a dead horse, but it was noted. I was thinking about that when I was watching the episode.
Aside from bending extremely backward to create a tragic situation to set Dean off, I liked the episode, it was entertaining. I even LOLed at Rowena in "for Dean" part, the character I usually FF when she was on screen. She wasn't even annoying, I don't know why Charlie was that frustrated, ... of course plot demanded!
And every time Sam said Dean is getting worse, I was stuck between laughing or crying over the massive urgency on a non-existent dilemma! I know Carver feels if he lets the story progress during the season, he'd spoil it, but this is ridiculous. It's like curing the mark is more damaging than the mark itself. We get it, Dean is controlling it, easily IMO, but at least show what worries Sam, like the physical set-back of not killing you dropped in 9.23, let Sam say like "I'm waking up every night by his nightmares" instead of just saying "he's getting worse". Worse how? The way they presented it, Dean would have lived happily, like poor Cain was with his bees, if there wasn't any trigger to snap them.
I can't stop commenting on it though I try. Haha! It's just a big distraction to the ultimate story and everything Sam's doing. I see no reason to worry for Dean. And even if he goes on a rampage next week b/c Charlie died, unless he does something truly crazy, I won't feel his behavior will be any different than if Charlie had been killed and he DIDN'T have the MOC. He has behaved as Dean petty much all season IMO, making all of Sam's and Cas's concern seem OTT.
Oh God my worst fear came true my poor Sammy but it was'nt his fault not really:(((( I have mixed feelings about this episode I mean it was intense and I have so many favorite scenes but i don't know i can't say that i really loved it I dont know why!!!! I wasnt a charlie fan but her death made me sad i know the writers had to kill her to make dean get darker but still... Cas can bring her back cant he?Why they didnt call him? Why did charlie go to that motel by herself? It doesnt' make any sense to me she knew the Stynes family were after her!BTW I like Stynes family i hope we will find out more about them. The scene that Dean confronted Sam about the book was awesome!!! I couldn't breathe at that moment !!! I think the guilt of charlie's death and knowing that Dean got darker because of him make Sam do something more stupid and desperate and he will sacrifice himself to save his btother in the finale! :(((
Of course it was a bad episode. It was written by Brad Buckner & Eugine Ross Lemming. When was the last time we got a GOOD episode out of them?
BTW I don't understand why everyone is blaming Sam for Charlie's death. He warned Cas to not let her go alone because there were dangerous people looking for her. He SAID that, and Cas still left her alone and didn't even think to go look for the closest motel she could have gone to within 30 seconds?? I call BS on blaming Sam.
And can someone please explain to me why Cas's wings are burned out? Cas lost his grace in Heaven. He was then sent to Earth as a human much like Anna who ripped out her grace and fell to Earth as a human. Anna hid her grace in a tree on Earth, and when she needed it, she retrieved it, used it to power up, and had full wings. Cas found his grace in a library on EARTH. He should have full wings and full powers. There is no reason his wings should be burned out!
Sam is definitely not to blame for Charlie's death. She went into this eyes wide open. It's not like Kevin's death last year when Dean should have warned Kevin to about the angel possessing Sam so Kevin could protect himself. Here, Sam gave Charlie all the info she needed. Plus, Charlie knew that family was hunting her b/c they had been doing so before she even met up w/Sam and Dean a few episodes ago. I'm sure Dean will blame Sam, but it's not Sam's fault she's dead.
I couldn't agree more w/you about the MOC "non-story" as I like to call it. As you said, why don't they show us Dean's nightmares or violent urges. Give us a reason to buy into Sam's desperation. Jared is playing the desperation very well, but there's no story - IMO - to back it up.
Castiel should be able to revive her, but the writers forgot that he should have full wings and powers. I guess they think Cas fell to Earth like the other angels instead of being sent to Earth as a human b/c his grace was extracted in HEAVEN!!!! Anna ripped out her own grace in Heaven and still had full wings when she retrieved her grace so why doesn't Cas?
I agree. This show has never needed a female representative IMO. It's nice to have one, but it's not necessary. I couldn't care less about Charlie dying. I was not a fan of the character.
Hahaha . . . true but when he needs to be, Cas is written to be quite powerful so Charlie was in good hands. She chose to ditch Cas. What I found confusing is why Sam told Cas he couldn't leave Rowena alone. Huh? She had been alone for a few days/weeks before Sam involved Castiel and Charlie in his plans so why couldn't she be left by herself?
Man I enjoyed the episode and thought it was overall a positive step forward from how supernatural has been. I mean the general Rowena and Sam lying to Dean storylines were garbage and Crowley talking to the Gerbil was cringeworthy. However the revelation that the Stiens are the Frankenstein I had been thinking for a while now. The last few years I was hoping that super would incorporate the Frankenstein Monster into their mythology in some point. Although not the way I would of done it, it is a creative step forward in the show and gave a feel of the old supernatural as well as a new horror direction that the show could take if they desired. The death of Charlie was a nice catalyst and really was needed to bring the brothers to the forefront of the story. I loved her character but the way they had used her this season really had me disheartened to the point that I am glad that they were able to salvage the character in my eyes with her death.
Now my big hope is that the brothers will unleash the Frankenstein monster in the finale giving us a cohesive big bad for the next season. Probably will not happen seeing as how they have handled their characters recently has been very lackluster but one can hope.
Charlie's death is NOT Sam's fault. He told her the deal. She chose to help him. She chose to leave the dungeon/warehouse or wherever they were. She had the Stynes hunting her BEFORE she even hooked up w/Sam and Dean a few episodes ago. Charlie went into this eyes wide open. She wanted to help Dean, and she died for it. That's on her, not Sam. She could have refused to help Sam, or she could have put on her trusty iPod, tuned out Rowena, and just worked on her project in that dungeon.
Cas can no longer "pop" to locations b/c this team mistakenly thinks his wings were burned out when they were NOT. They seem to have forgotten THEIR OWN STORY! Haha!
Because some of the male fans that follow the show do not agree with every TRAGIC comment that the show is dying or "Oh no it killed off a favorite character!". With sci-fi and horror sadly represented on TV and almost NO really good network shows based in those genres I'm glad to have Supernatural even if sometimes it can be a bit staid. But seriously the fandom on this show is the WORST fandom I have EVER seen on a show. Complains about everything when it could be the show is off the air and people have nom way to fill their dreary nights without being able to complain about something. I'm just glad the show is on the air for now, far worse things happen in life than a show letting some fans down.
I reeeeally enjoyed this episode. Expect for the stupid Frankenstein part and i really dont understand how this epsiode get a 63% awful while the most boring episodes get an overall "awesome"
LOL! I was waiting for your reaction ;D Now I want to read Tessa's gripe review! :) Actually I'm worried about it too, considering death doesn't mean goodbye in SPN, not to mention the absolute power of Sue!
I will be the heartless one saying the writing was pretty much on the wall for Charlie to go. Sad to see her go I like her with the boys. I am not blaming Sam yes they could have kept her safe but the Stynes I think would have hunt her down no matter what I think the guys should have let her stay at the bunker until the family bit it. JMO. Felicia created a character that she was able to connect with Sam and Dean. I doubt the show will be cancelled in 1/2 season 11. I think S12 will be last my predication. I just hope Jody, Donna, claire and Alex live for that long. RIP charlie.
BoxMan, I do agree that the episode, and this season, are not the greatest. But I did not think this episode was awful. It was ok, but Rowena has got to go! I miss Cass getting decent story lines, and Crowley doing ANYTHING! UGH! I hope you are right about it becoming bearable again!
i c what everyone is saying but i don't get it: y r we mourning charlie like that? dead is not gone as in 'annihilated' as in 'no more' as in 'end' in this show. it has four realms: mortal, heaven, hell, and purgatory. (with probably a few adjacent dimensions like the land of Oz). nobody is gone, they just move to another realm. and more often than not, they come and go. of course, charlie not being on the mortal real any more, and the show mostly focusing on said mortal realm, means that we won't c her that much, but, though i shall miss her, she was a recurring character anyways, and i'm used to not seeing her much. the way she changed realms was a bit insulting though: charlie was clever and smart. no way she'd have gone to the motel by herself when she knew she was being hunted. nope.
I agree about the product placement. It is getting annoying. I am fine with Charlie's death, but I would like to see more Cass and Crowley doing something other than being a 2 minute blurb in each show.
They don't know how to pace their stories, been like that for a while. Just as I said the beginning 3 episodes, ok we getting to the bottom of it. All of sudden the middle of the season nothing happens just fillers. Then boom the last 3 episodes of the season "OMG Dean is so bad everything is collapsing". That's why I can't get into it like I would like too.
The show would have Dean blame Sam for his conception but in all honesty considering what happened last season and the consquences of him getting the MOC this season it would in reality be hard for Dean to justify anger at Sam.
However this is SPN and the Sam blame game is a common occurrence .
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I wasn't expecting what happened in the end... I did not see that coming AT ALL!!!
ReplyDeleteLEGIT!! And everyone’s blaming Sam. And I just. N O.
ReplyDeleteAs bad as Sam feels, Charlie never should have left to go to the motel alone.
ReplyDeleteLying, talking to rats, and throwing Sam under the bus ; just another day in the giant Microsoft commercial passing itself off as Supernatural.
ReplyDeleteThat was just the absolute cringe fest.
ReplyDeleteCharlie's last act was to send the break through off so she should be the reason they can translate the book.
ReplyDeleteDAMN IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE DOESN'T DESERVE THIS ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, she made a choice to sacrifice herself to save Dean. I like that it ended with her own choice,
ReplyDeletePeople have been talking about Charlie dying for weeks but it became real to me because of 2 things: 1) when Charlie left by herself, and 2) next weeks episode description says that "Sam tries to deal with the consequences of his actions".
ReplyDeleteI don't really get how people are voting that this was an Awful episode, by them saying that they are making the episode Bloodlines from season 9 look amazing when it was the worst episode in the entire SPN series it's even voted the worst on IMDb.
ReplyDeleteYup. My reaction too.
ReplyDeleteAw man we lost Charlie! Hasn't she been here since season 7! Ughhhh.
ReplyDeleteReally liked the Frankenstein twist.
ReplyDeleteI think we can just vote this entire season as awful and pretend it never happened. Please?
ReplyDeleteMany of the "awful" voters probably seriously pissed off with Charlie's death. I am waiting for "misogyny" comments, they are coming, I can feel it.
ReplyDeleteIt was "OK' for me, annoying product placement really ruin it.
Remember when Castiel got his grace back, his wings were still ripped up. Damaged wings means no flying faster then the speed of light.
ReplyDeleteRight! Thanks. That was bugging me.
ReplyDeleteBut he has healing power, right? Or he can not bring people to life anymore?
ReplyDeleteI feel like the mystery person — Rowena’s “demon lover” is Crowley’s dad. It’d be interesting to learn more about him, and tbh, I kind of enjoy Royena’s debut on Spn and if Crowley’s dad isn’t more different, why not?
ReplyDeleteCastiel can still heal. He could even heal when he was working with 'stolen' grace. He healed Metatron's neck wound after he slit his throat to steal his grace. It's just the wings that are broken.
ReplyDeleteScrew off Sam. This is all your fault you giant idiot. Trying my best to keep this friendly as possible and not say the "F" word.
ReplyDeleteShe really shouldn't have. It's a shame they had to introduce this nonsensical decision from her to try to alleviate some of Sam's guilt.
ReplyDeleteTruth is Charlie's death is on him and that's it. And it just makes me a bit uncomfortable to watch a show where supporting character happily go to the slaughter for the main cast.
I thought it might be his father also but I wonder who?
ReplyDeleteThen why he didn't resurrect Charlie?
ReplyDeleteThis was Charlie's personal choice. She left because she decided so. Not Sam's fault.
ReplyDeleteHe couldn't have gotten there in time if he couldn't "pop." She was already dead.
ReplyDelete2 thoughts: 1) maybe Cas can heal the living but is not at full strength to resurrect the dead......or 2) maybe because Charlie's soul is in Heaven and Cas has been banished from Heaven again.
ReplyDeleteCan heal injuries but not resurrect.. I mean really the only time he brought someone back that was completely dead was Bobby, irrc.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the supporting characters should not be sacrificed so much and that Sam had a role in this. But Charlie's decision to leave put her in a position to get killed where no one was there to protect her. I think it was stupid and out of character for her leave but Charlie did something stupid that got her killed.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it was on him.
ReplyDeleteGadreel resurrected Cas's vessel, so angels can do that. This is a plot hole to me.
ReplyDeleteThis episode was crap and seriously Charlie is a smart girl.
ReplyDeleteIf Crowley's father was Rowena's demon lover and Crowley's father was still 'alive' then wouldn't that make Crowley's father one of Crowley's subjects since Crowley is the king of Hell?
ReplyDeleteI believe Charlie found a reference to the book and volunteered to go see if she could go find it.
ReplyDeleteYou're only realizing now that these writers suck? This show hasn't been anywhere near itself since Season 7.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure why you would mention IMDB as if it meant anything, but I voted awful and I mean it. At least Bloodlines was just a failed experiment, not a slap in the face.
ReplyDeleteThat was basically 35 minutes of Sam lying his ass off, followed by the lamest character death in a show that specializes in lame character deaths.
ReplyDeleteWhat exactly did Sam fail to tell Charlie?
ReplyDeleteSupernatural is the same as it ever was.
ReplyDeleteThe only interesting part of this episode was the Stein twist.
Because in season 9 Dean was the one lying to Sam about the angel possession to save Sam. Now it's Sam's turn to lie to Dean to save Dean.
ReplyDeleteDo you really think any of that will matter once the Sam Blame Game gets into full swing? Of course it won't.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I won't blame Sam for the crappy writing, I'm too used to it. But a lot of people will and I can't blame them, Carver is really trying his best to make Sam a pariah in this fandom, that's what pisses me off the most.
ReplyDeleteWell, I was wrong about Charlie. Did not see that coming.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Charloe already dead in season 8 when an injured Ezekiel brought her back to life?
ReplyDeleteThis old plot has been happening since almost the start of SPN. There's always something to get them blaming each other. It's a really old plot now. The writers right now have done nothing new and it's getting boring.
ReplyDeleteI thought Charlie ditched Cas and Rowena because Rowena was driving her nuts, but I might have missed something. I'm not sure what else she expected to find in her motel room with just her computer. She had her computer when she was with Rowena too.
ReplyDeleteI only mentioned that site because they rated Bloodlines as the worst episode, other then that I don't support their ratings for other things. I'm not really calling anyone out all I said is I don't get how they can say this is an awful episode I didn't call anyone offensive words or anything.
ReplyDeleteCharlie is dead because she made a decision to help cure Dean. She did what she did for Dean.
ReplyDeleteI agree that it has been done too much but I just said that season 9 was Dean's turn and now it is Sam's turn.
ReplyDeleteI completely expect that people who hate Sam will hate Sam. My criteria is that the story is fair, and in this case I think it was. I'll just duck the SPN Internet boards for a while if I have to.
ReplyDeleteYeah, so? So every time a brother does something wrong the other one has to do the same? There doesn't need to be "turns" imo. It's fake equality.
ReplyDeleteShe went looking for the book on her own. Sam told her about it, but she volunteered because she wanted to help Dean.
ReplyDeleteBut that's still on Charlie. A grown woman can't make her own decision about the risks?
ReplyDeleteI think you missed the point. I wish the writers would stop having Dean & Sam take turns lying to each other. I'm just saying that the writers had Sam do the lying to save Dean this time because Dean lied last season to save Sam.
ReplyDeleteYou're missing my point as well. I'm disagreeing with you about the writers needing him to do that. Differing opinions.
ReplyDeleteTotally. I'm apparently the rare fan that doesn't bitch about every recurring character dying, because I've been watching the show for 10 years, and am used to and love the fact that no one is safe. Charlie dying, made sense for the story, 100%.
ReplyDeleteThat is the first time I have seen "Awful" Out vote Awesome!!!!! Wow!!!! A little pissed they killed Charlie, but was to be expected.
ReplyDeleteMisogyny and homophobia since Charlie was a lesbian.
ReplyDeleteI said Sam's lies by omission. I didn't say those lies were directed at Charlie. He just drug her, Cas, and Rowena into his lies to Dean. In the end, she suffered the consequences by doing the stupidest, out of character thing even. Sam will feel guilty for that and rightfully so.
ReplyDeleteThey actually laid out the Frankenstein twist in Book of the Damned, the Styne family crest is the same as the Frankenstein family crest in Young Frankenstein.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, forgot that one.
ReplyDeleteIt's had its moments since season seven, but this season has hit rock bottom.
ReplyDeleteSeason 5 he couldn't heal Bobby because he was cut off from Heaven, so it may be the same case with not being able to resurrect Charlie since he is currently banned.
ReplyDeleteApparently I failed yet again. I keep saying I do NOT agree with what the writers are doing. I do NOT think the writers NEED to have the brothers take turns lying to each other. I was explaining how the writers think and why the writers are doing what they are doing.
ReplyDeleteBut the Styne's were already hunting her. So a confrontation was inevitable.
ReplyDeleteI missed the not. I apologize.
ReplyDeleteWhat does his lies to Dean have to do with anything? He was totally upfront with Charlie and Cas, and they made their choices because they agreed that they wanted to help save Dean. Not all decisions are Dean's to make..
ReplyDeleteNo problem.
ReplyDeleteOnce Rowena mentioned her loyalty to the Winchesters would be Charlie's undoing, I thought "Well, that's her Waterloo."
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen this episode yet, but I agree w/you! This entire season has been a complete mess and a bitter disappointment.
ReplyDeleteThey always get rid of the good characters. It's frustrating.
ReplyDeleteSam lying to Dean left Charlie unprotected and bad writing had her running off like an idjit. Pure stupidity all around. Dean wouldn't have left her unprotected and Sam will have to live with that. I blame the craptastic writing.
ReplyDeleteSam left Charlie with angel protection. Charlie ditched her protection.
ReplyDeleteShe was most definitely dead last year. Dean told Zeke to bring her back. Zeke also resurrected Castel.
ReplyDeleteDean's not infallible. He got Kevin killed, Jo died while he was there, Bobby died hunting Leviathan with him ...
ReplyDeleteIt sounds awful. I guess I will watch it later.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that was just a nod.
ReplyDeleteLately I've been measuring a show's death count against The Walking Dead, so I'm right there with you.
ReplyDeleteIt was Gadreel but yeah and that was in season 9.
ReplyDeleteSam didnt leave her unprotected. He left her with Castiel so he left her very protected. She's the one who chose to leave her protective detail behind.
ReplyDeleteRolled my eyes a little at that one.
ReplyDeleteThey just don't value the fanbase.
ReplyDeleteI know it was her decision which is why I said it was stupid and out of character. Very poor writing.
ReplyDeletePeople like you who have small mind should keep their mouth shut,so they can't say stupid shit, you didn't like the rat scene, well, sam was a car back in season 5,wanna read something? turn off the tv,you can't understand a great show, die slowly :D
ReplyDeleteI agree that it was out of character for her but my comment was in response to your comment," Sam lying to Dean left Charlie unprotected". Charlie was more protected with the angel protection Sam left her with then she was on her own. Charlie put herself in danger by leaving her angel protection.
ReplyDeleteIndeed
ReplyDeleteAs is, if we are counting 2+ appearances as recurring there are 28 currently still living. 26 if you don't count Crowley and Cas, and even then only about a quarter of them appear on a regular basis. So yeah, the pool of characters is pretty small.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being cool.
ReplyDeleteWorst ep of the season. By far.
ReplyDeleteCharlie was more of a grown women with a teenager mind. So I see today her character was written ditsy in got herself killed. They never got the right balance with her so It's whatever.
ReplyDeleteDamn... They did it. They killed Charlie :'(
ReplyDeleteAnd no.
ReplyDeleteI am all too aware that it is easy to misunderstand someone via online communication. I have no problem debating a point of view, but I also know that some people can take this stuff way too seriously. Everyone misreads something at some point.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely. People can get really touchy sometimes. I don't upset with anyone unless I really think someone is attacking me personally (versus my point of view on a subject that is debatable). It's just TV afterall.
ReplyDeleteYou seem like a sane and clever person, young man.
ReplyDeleteThe twist is....... Crowley's Dad turns out to be Metatron!!!! It could happen!
ReplyDeletePeople still mad at Sam for taking Deans bowl of cereal. I'm over what the fandom thinks, every one judge on who they favs or. So some is blinded.
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's true. But you can't deny this is one of his biggest "screwups".
ReplyDeleteThen Crowley would have been born as one of those 'abominations' like that waitress that Castiel killed at the end of season 8 when he thought Metatron was trying to 'save' heaven.
ReplyDeleteWow. I was quite literally on the edge of my seat (couch, specifically) for the second half of the episode. First half was very Buckner/Ross-Lemming (awkward dialogue, lots and lots and lots and lots of talking, plodding pace), but the second half ratcheted up the intensity and the heart.
ReplyDeleteThe scene where Dean reveals to Sam that he knows about the Book gave me chills.
Thanks,i'll take the compliments, but i won't take away my words, because these aren't only for you,i'm just tired of these fans that complain about everything, yeah the show isn't like it was before, but it still good, has its flaws too but no big deal, just stop watching the show, you seem like a small minded and dumb person, dumb man
ReplyDeleteGreat. You go watch the episode again, and I'll just wait for moderators to ban your ass to oblivion.
ReplyDeleteAh true, but I have always had a theory about that. See perhaps he hid is grace for a time to become human, met Rowena, taught her a few things. Claimed he was a demon. Fell in love with her, then had baby Fergus, who lived a mortal life.
ReplyDeleteOr He was born a Nefillam and either Metatron or Rowena took his grace when he was a baby.
*sigh* So many interesting theories lie around Crowley as many, even Mark Sheppard, think that he is more than just a demon
Yep it's more ammo. But the important thing is I saw with my own two eyes what happen. In im not going to have some fans hatred dictate what I saw.
ReplyDeleteThis is like me telling somebody don't cross the street during rush hour. In what that person do? Cross the street during rush hour in get hit. I will feel bad but it's not on me.
Charile was warned. In really I still shake my head on why she got into this life. She never had a bullseye on her back like Sam and Dean did. They had this character jump into it like it was the next video game.
Brazil? :)
ReplyDeleteWhy watch it again? i can undestand a great show kiddo, and its ok,nice to meet you, please take my words with you, they're with love, love from someone that hates people like you, affection from someone who wants to kill you,now please moderators, take my ass to purgatory,i'm ready..
ReplyDeleteSim?
ReplyDeleteYou can have your opinion without some stupid tolding you to die slowly. Bye
ReplyDeleteKoe cheirosa, tambem não manja de Supernatural?
ReplyDeleteSai dae ow :(
ReplyDeletePrefiro não me formar em "Supernatural"... desisti já faz tempo. Ainda dou uma olhada para saber se melhorou. Tenho coisas mais importantes para fazer do que perder meu tempo com "isso". Koe Cheiroso.
ReplyDeleteOkay
ReplyDeleteNossa!!! kkkkk Me move de lugar. Vai ser burro assim na china.
ReplyDeleteCuma? eu sou burro? Desde quando existe Tolding? '-'
ReplyDeletelol this site is one of the few where Sam fans hang out a lot you can't say anything bad about him here xP

ReplyDeleteSaindo.... Passe bem!
ReplyDeleteAleluia
ReplyDeleteHer running off was twofold IMO... she was getting distracted by Rowena (that woman needs to die) and she didn't really trust her either (did I mention she needs to die?)
ReplyDeleteActually, he wasn't totally upfront with them, or at least with Castiel. He (Cas) had to find out from Rowena herself that Crowley is her son which might have been something that Sam really should have told him.
ReplyDeleteStill, you are right, of course, Sam's lies did not cause Charlie's death.
I'm sure someone on SpoilerTV called that Styne would turn out to be derived from Frankenstein.... congrats to whoever it was!!
ReplyDeleteI find it funny that the episode is most rated as "awful" because Charlie died, but every time she was on people complained and ratings went down...don't get me wrong I love(d) Charlie, I just find it interesting.
ReplyDeleteI was somehow excited about the 3 last episodes after reading Jensen's interview. After seeing what the Awful Duo did to create a situation to set Dean off and all the rest of the episode, some points come to my mind:
ReplyDelete- When Charlie died, I thought imediately "Cas can ress her" and then when I watch the preview for the next episode, I was like "What kind of bullsh*t they are going to say to prevent Cas to ress her?
Dean will be so far gone that Sam will try to reach out and he'll be back for a short time and when we think he's in control, BAM, he kills Sam, and back to being a demon ( which would make the entire season 10 pointless).
welp, after that episode I'm ditching the rest of the season.
ReplyDeleteSam is totally not to blame and here is why..
ReplyDeletehttp://defilerwyrm.tumblr.com/post/118334444626/did-everyone-just-wake-up-on-the-stupid-side-of
don't like how Charlie (why she not pray for Cas and the brothers don't call him for help) dies, but the episode was good. The revelation of Frankentsteins family don't give us chills, but still is a new mythology to explore.
ReplyDeleteComments and ratings are always the opposite here.
ReplyDeleteEverybody can vote so that means lurkers do, and there are way more lurkers than active commenters.
Game of supernatural
ReplyDeleteCharlie by Robbie Thompson : Kills two Stynes single-handedly
ReplyDeleteCharlie by the awful duo : Gets killed by one Styne missing an arm
Let's never forget that's why Charlie got killed.
ReplyDeleteI can't fathom why Dean would chain the guy up like that unless he was planning some kind of soft kink roleplay.
And I am sure you felt that way and said the exact same thing when Dean got Kevin killed without informing him of the situation last season.
ReplyDeleteAt least Charlie knew what she was walking into nothing was hidden from her.
No, I understand that, but I meant (at least with my second "ratings") that Nielsen ratings went down whenever Charlie came on, but now there's a huge uproar on social media that she's gone...not just SpoilerTV...
ReplyDeleteWTH no no noooooo Charlie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hated but do not think the episode was awful
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they did that!!!! Charlie!!!! = ( yeah I'm crying. I'm so mad.
ReplyDeleteI got this nagging feeling somewhere Charlie will show up again.
ReplyDeleteRobbie Thompson is being to cool about it. lol
I think I can finally stop watching this show. Charlie wasn't my favorite character but this season has been terrible and I told myself if charlie or jodi die (Next season jodi will most likely die) I'm done with supernatural. I'm sort of relieved one less show to keep track of.
ReplyDeleteThey are all on Tumblr.
ReplyDeleteShe was only mostly dead
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan and I'm happy Charlie was killed off.
ReplyDeleteAre we sure it was the one armed Styne that killed her? (Sorry, but I wasn't paying an awful lot of attention at that stage.)
ReplyDeleteWe are. There was only one track of footprints leading out of the bathroom and he was the only one close to her.
ReplyDeleteWell you never what part of the fanbase Nielsen viewers belong to, but Charlie was always waaaaay more popular than what commenters on SpoilerTV or IMDB suggested ^^
ReplyDeleteEvery single character that appeared in this episode deserved better.
ReplyDeleteCastiel can't win a fight to save his life though. Had to be saved by Metatron and Claire ffs
ReplyDeleteI think even if I didn't like Charlie I'd hate this episode. Sloppy, sloppy writing.
ReplyDeleteI think the writers are doing a sabotage in season 10 writings. I think it would be better that I will do a sabotage in watching season finale.
ReplyDeleteWell...another show that I won't be watching anymore.
ReplyDeleteThanks.
ReplyDeleteA one-armed man who was presumably suffering from blood loss being able to kill (and kill bloody) Charlie does seem seriously dodgy.
No, not exactly. I've voted 'awful', but final scene satisfied me completely. There are many other reasons to click 'awful'.
ReplyDeleteOne and only Sam's fault is to entrust the moron angel to protect one woman. Sam should keep in his mind what had happened when Cas went to the store. Heaven crumbled.
ReplyDeleteWhat about Dean in Lazarus Rising? He also brought back Sam (although only physically). They were both completely dead.
ReplyDeleteDo you remember last episode when Cas was apologising to Amelia for not being able to heal her as much as he would have liked to? He mentioned how 'once' he would have been able to do it, which implies that either (a) Metatron's been fiddling around with his grace or (b) a sizeable portion of it was used up during the spell to cast the angels out of heaven. It should also be noted that Cas was unable to bring Amelia back to life as well, which does seem to suggest that he does not possess the same level power as he did before - at least in contrast to an angel like Gadrel, who last season, was reviving people like it was about to go out of style.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know, I know, it was a single line of dialogue.
ReplyDeleteIn response to other comments on this thread, thinking more about Charlie, I don't think it was OOC for her to go off on her own.
Miss Opportunities Season
ReplyDeleteOne thing I don't understand is why it's so important to have someone "represent" fans on the show.
ReplyDeleteSad and Tragic ending-I have disliked Charlie for quite some time now but i never thought the writers would get rid of the character like that.Brutally murdered, really? That's a low blow!
ReplyDeleteLet the blame game begin!
Why's that?
ReplyDeleteUgh . .
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't care what anyone says . . . . there is literally NO legitimate reason Sam is keeping this a secret from Dean.
Part of me kinda saw the ending coming, but I was hoping she would survive. AND THE WAY SHE WENT OUT WAS BRUTAL! I was not OK after that
ReplyDeleteDean would get dictatorial about having his way, but I miss the Sam that would just say, "I'm doing what I'm doing just because ..." But unfortunately the writers decided they needed to rewrite Sam's character and have the rebellious younger brother afraid to stand up to Dean now.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the "Dean's getting worse" was almost played to a comical level this week because Dean seemed like the most well-adjusted person in the episode.
Killed off the female protagonist for cheap sensationalistic effect and contrived drama just once too often, for my taste. The show has become more and more repetitive with each season. Time for it to end.
ReplyDeleteExactly!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who sees ZERO problem w/Dean.
ReplyDeleteAside from bending extremely backward to create a tragic situation to set Dean off, I liked the episode, it was entertaining. I even LOLed at Rowena in "for Dean" part, the character I usually FF when she was on screen. She wasn't even annoying, I don't know why Charlie was that frustrated, ... of course plot demanded!
ReplyDeleteAnd every time Sam said Dean is getting worse, I was stuck between laughing or crying over the massive urgency on a non-existent dilemma!
ReplyDeleteOh God my worst fear came true my poor Sammy but it was'nt his fault not really:(((( I have mixed feelings about this episode I mean it was intense and I have so many favorite scenes but i don't know i can't say that i really loved it I dont know why!!!! I wasnt a charlie fan but her death made me sad i know the writers had to kill her to make dean get darker but still...
ReplyDeleteCas can bring her back cant he?Why they didnt call him?
ReplyDeleteBTW I don't understand why everyone is blaming Sam for Charlie's death.
ReplyDeleteCas lost his grace in Heaven.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't agree more w/you about the MOC "non-story" as I like to call it. As you said, why don't they show us Dean's nightmares or violent urges. Give us a reason to buy into Sam's desperation. Jared is playing the desperation very well, but there's no story - IMO - to back it up.
ReplyDeleteI know, right? How stupid was that?!?!?! They would never tie someone up like that. Ugh . . .
ReplyDeleteCastiel should be able to revive her, but the writers forgot that he should have full wings and powers. I guess they think Cas fell to Earth like the other angels instead of being sent to Earth as a human b/c his grace was extracted in HEAVEN!!!! Anna ripped out her own grace in Heaven and still had full wings when she retrieved her grace so why doesn't Cas?
ReplyDeleteI agree. This show has never needed a female representative IMO. It's nice to have one, but it's not necessary. I couldn't care less about Charlie dying. I was not a fan of the character.
ReplyDeleteHahaha . . . true but when he needs to be, Cas is written to be quite powerful so Charlie was in good hands. She chose to ditch Cas.
ReplyDeleteWhat I found confusing is why Sam told Cas he couldn't leave Rowena alone.
ReplyDeleteNow my big hope is that the brothers will unleash the Frankenstein monster in the finale giving us a cohesive big bad for the next season. Probably will not happen seeing as how they have handled their characters recently has been very lackluster but one can hope.
Hahahahaha :-)
ReplyDeleteCharlie's death is NOT Sam's fault. He told her the deal. She chose to help him. She chose to leave the dungeon/warehouse or wherever they were. She had the Stynes hunting her BEFORE she even hooked up w/Sam and Dean a few episodes ago.
ReplyDeleteCharlie went into this eyes wide open.
Haha!
ReplyDeleteHis wings should not be ripped up though!
ReplyDeleteIf Charlie NEVER comes back I will say this was an EXCELLENT ep.
ReplyDeleteBecause some of the male fans that follow the show do not agree with every TRAGIC comment that the show is dying or "Oh no it killed off a favorite character!".
ReplyDeleteWith all due respect to your psychic abilities let's see how the rest of the episodes play out before we hate bang the show on the message boards ok?
ReplyDeleteI reeeeally enjoyed this episode. Expect for the stupid Frankenstein part and i really dont understand how this epsiode get a 63% awful while the most boring episodes get an overall "awesome"
ReplyDeleteShe did, and that's one of the problems with the blame inevitably falling in Sam. Recognition of her sacrifice will be ignored.
ReplyDeleteLOL! I was waiting for your reaction ;D Now I want to read Tessa's gripe review! :)
ReplyDeleteActually I'm worried about it too, considering death doesn't mean goodbye in SPN, not to mention the absolute power of Sue!
ReplyDeleteReally?? People voting awful?? I would have preferred Rowena be the one dying, but Charlie going is ok with me.
ReplyDeleteBoxMan, I do agree that the episode, and this season, are not the greatest. But I did not think this episode was awful. It was ok, but Rowena has got to go! I miss Cass getting decent story lines, and Crowley doing ANYTHING! UGH! I hope you are right about it becoming bearable again!
ReplyDeletei c what everyone is saying but i don't get it: y r we mourning charlie like that? dead is not gone as in 'annihilated' as in 'no more' as in 'end' in this show. it has four realms: mortal, heaven, hell, and purgatory.
ReplyDeletethe way she changed realms was a bit insulting though: charlie was clever and smart. no way she'd have gone to the motel by herself when she knew she was being hunted. nope.
I agree about the product placement. It is getting annoying.
ReplyDeleteI am fine with Charlie's death, but I would like to see more Cass and Crowley doing something other than being a 2 minute blurb in each show.
ReplyDeleteThe show would have Dean blame Sam for his conception but in all honesty considering what happened last season and the consquences of him getting the MOC this season it would in reality be hard for Dean to justify anger at Sam.
ReplyDeleteHowever this is SPN and the Sam blame game is a common occurrence .
