One of the best episodes of the season! LOL, that twerking scene with Donnie and Alison was just too much awesomeness! twitter.com/OrphanBlack/status/602296458239422464
Alison and Donnie twerking is by far the best thing to happen on TV this week. This episode had it all, creepy STD spreading Castor clones, some much needed Alison and Donnie humor, a stalking Delphine, a bullying Fee, a little Shay and Cosima time (Ksenia and Tatiana have amazing chemistry), suspense that had be on the edge of my seat, an understated profession of love, and a tragic ending. I feel like I've been on an emotional roller coaster for the past hour and I can't believe I actually felt bad for the über bitch. Can't wait for the next episode!
Well, I guess Paul's death was coming, and I was really upset going into the episode. Mostly because of my eternal upset over another show and another character who felt eerily similar going in (character with lots of interesting potential, not necessarily super well loved by fandom, writing went down hill, killed off unceremoniously for shock value in a way that never really mattered 5 minutes later...I'm still bitter about the death of Sean Pierce on Nikita, is was I'm saying). But this was actually really well done. It did not go down the way I feared it would. I've always said I don't mind losing characters, even characters I like or love, if the writing is good. This death means something. Even if Coady and/or Rudy survived, the science is gone. Paul went out destroying something horrific. Plus the editing and music in that scene were just fantastic. Chills. I'm almost crying, but in a good way.
I honestly don't care about Cosima/Delphine anymore. Like, I was never a big shipper anyway, but I was at worst indifferent to them. Now I actively dislike them.
Also, whyyyyy does Alison have to be so separate from everything? She might as well be on a different show at this point. And, like, I know it was funny and everyone loved it, but I kind of hated the dancing scene. It felt a lot like the group dancing scene felt last season - they had an idea they liked and went with it regardless of whether or not actual people would actual act like that.
Definitely one of the show's finest hours. A thrill ride from start to finish, and I absolutely loved the Felix--Rachel scene. Also, Donnie and Alison twerking is the best.

Quick question: Paul mentioned Rudy as being a part of Sammy's team... Wasn't Sammy the name of Tony's observer/boyfriend with a military background? And wasn't it alluded to that Paul and Sammy knew each other?
All I'm saying is it would be nice if Tony and/or Sammy reappeared as relevant characters.
The use of Shay's "it doesn't get much wilder than you" comment to lead into that scene is one of the most hysterical narrative transitions I've seen in a TV show.
I can't stop... LAUGHING!
Damn, Felix! That's actually going a little too far, baby XD
Awesome episode. The scenes between Sarah and Beth were very touching and important. It was a kind of forgiveness and declaration of sisterly love. And Helena came back for Sarah. That's Twin Power. Pupok stands for Helenas survival at any cost. After she eats him, the sensitive Helena returned.
Easily one of the "best episodes of this series" (No Spoilers) you have to watch this episode! Donnie "making it rain" and Alison "making it clap" was HILARIOUS! I'm officially on board with the "Orphan Black spin - off", ALISON: THE LIFE AND TIMES OF A ORPHAN CLONE.............whose with me? 4 THE ORPHAN CLONE CLUB, I am still Nobody!!!
Apparently I have a lot to say about this episode. Not just the best episode of S3 but one of my favourite installments of the show so far.
But before I get into the big twists and emotional revelations I have to once again applaud Donnie and Alison for being one of the funniest couples on TV. I nearly choked on my drink watching them reenact a rap video in their underwear. Then when Donnie got out of the car I just laughed so hard. I really don't care if their storyline doesn't tie together with the bigger themes or story of S3 because they are so much fun to watch.
OK onto the serious stuff. Tatiana needs a million awards. The Beth stuff killed me, I always longed to see Beth again but dream Beth was amazing and oh my god I just never really gave a shit about Paul for most of the series, he annoyed me how he kept changing sides. Which means that naturally as soon as he finally takes a stand, the moment I liked him well that was the moment I knew he was going to die. Really great stuff though.
Rachel Duncan, I can't believe I'm saying this but let me hug you. Like a lot. Felix was terrifying in their scene, do not mess with him not when Sarah is in danger. Rachel though, I think she can go to Team Sestras side, I think she wants to. She needs someone, she has nothing.
Cosima, well I'm not really a fan of the whole Cosima/Delphine relationship. And Delphine being creepy and having her followed and it looks like next week threatening the new girlfriend, yeah not cool. I loved Cosima with Gracie though, that was cute.
Other things of note:
I really like Mark, I hope he can reunite with Gracie and I hope they can somehow be happy.
Biological warfare in the most horrible way possible. One of the things I like about Orphan Black is how it examines how women are treated as objects. Sterilization is yet another choice taken away by women, and its horrible and disgusting.
It was really nice seeing Charlotte again and I noticed they used her in the picture of Rachel with her father. I hope we see more of Charlotte.
We really need favourite scenes poll for this show.
My favourite moment of the episode was Beth "return", Maslany was amazing (as usual). Beth and Sarah's confrontation was really amazing. It said so much and even set a part of the plot. We are looking for a who.
I also really enjoy the way Helan got rid of her scorpion. The entire episode was great. I just hoped Mark would have left with Sarah.
I loved the episode. I don't know why yet but I like that Rachel remembers the code, even if we don't know if she's aware. I'm sorry about Paul: something remains unsaid between Sarah and him (she loved him too once).I like Ksenia, she's a tremendous actress but in terms of the story they're telling I will always root for Cosima and Delphine and I hope the latter isn't just stalking the former. It would be lame plot wise. Of course she's jalous but maybe she's trying to protect her or there's more to it. Donnie and Allison must have been an Eureka moment on the writers' part. I loved Sarah and Beth. It's like they have needed that moment for a long time.
Don't think Dylan Bruce was the strongest actor on the show but he did tie all of the stories together so from that point of view it was a shame to see him go. But in truth after season 1 they hardly used him and didn't seem to know what to do with him. Not sure how much longer I'm going to stick with the show.
Ksenia and Tatiana have off the charts chemistry. I was never a Delphine/Cosima shipper but am all over her and Shay together. I look forward to more screen time for the two of them and hope Delphine, the stalker, doesn't frak things up.
Maybe. I honestly don't remember if Sammy's dead or not, as I tried to block out most of that episode (by far, my least favorite). I remember Sammy being shot, just not if he died.
But yeah, Tony returning as a plot relevant character would be really nice.
I think he was up to the job. And his final episode showcased his ability to have more than one emotion displayed. He's military all right, but his scenes with Beth told me that, as an actor, he is capable of much more. This ep was pure gold.
I'm gonna say one of the better episodes of the show generally.
Right amount of actions and emotional stuff.
A great send off for an interesting character that has been somewhat underutilised for a big part of the show. I'll miss you Paul. (I will say I wouldn't be surprised if he does come back sometime down the line though, even if it was verified he did in fact die. Let me remind everyone they were saying Helena died after the S1 finale also.... I don't know if I'd like it, because it would be a cop out and would cheapen his sacrifice here, but the fact that we didn't see a body or the actual explosion I think was a conscious choice, not only because it was probably cheaper to allude to it, but to also leave the option open in case they change their minds and want to bring him back)
Team!Hendrix was awesome as usual. Them twerking in the bedroom gave me life. Really they are lovely.
I'm starting to wonder if Delphine has put Shaye up to "monitor" Cos. Even if she's not, the whole deal looks quite stalker-y and it's not making me like her again. Damn it Frenchie you were doing so well in the beginning of the season...
So so sum up: Mark's the nice one. Rudy's the asshole mama's boy -who needs to die a painful death (though I don't 100% buy it he knows exactly what he's been doing to those girls but still). And Miller was the canonfoder? Really that guy was just there and lurking around. They never gave him anything much to do. Bummer...
Can't feel sorry for Rachel... sorry... can't... She's had all this coming. I don't think Felix is going to handle crossing the line very well for his own benefit, but sorry or Rachel? Nah...
Glad Helena came back for Sarah in the end. I had a feeling she would when she ate the scorpion.
The one thing I didn't love was the Beth hallucinations. And this from someone who is very curious about Beth. And I think I would have liked her if we had met her... But we actually haven't met her... not really and that was the problem here. Which means that Sarah thinking of her while in a trance and figuring it out "through" her when she doesn't even really know who this woman really is, didn't really work for me...
Liked this ep a lot. It was tighter and we got some answers. The opening dance sequence with Allison and Donnie was hysterical...all the more so because Donnie was surprisingly credible. :-)
Nice to see Paul have something to do... despite the fact that much of that plot was predictable. Loved watching Felix fight for his sister. Sometimes I feel like that's fallen by the wayside so it was really nice to see it here.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Holy crap, Ksenia. I'll try to come up with an intelligent assessment of the episode once I clear that image from my head. No promises.

"I just hoped Mark would have left with Sarah."
ReplyDeleteI think he will stay with his mother and his brother to spy them out. He choose a side and it's the side of his wife and sisters.

It's been awhile since I've seen the episode but I rememer Sammy sending Tony to look for Beth (because of Paul) before he died.
ReplyDeleteAfter all, Paul is dead and we need an inside man, don't we? =)
