I love the cast of this show and still like the show but something has been off kilter all season with the stories and packaging and pacing. Glad it has been renewed and hope they find some better glue to stick it all together next season.
were we supposed to think that the guy with the coin at the end was actually Callen's Father or something? Because that's what it felt like...otherwise, it just felt VERY Anticlimactic :P
NCSI: LA now known as the Callen drama show. See next season as we hear more about Callen's mysteries of his childhood, his father who he thinks is dead and the focus on all things Callen. Seriously now that we got this season finale done can we give Callen stories a break. I'd love to hear about the other characters on the show and their backgrounds or struggles. I'd love to see an episode focus on some of the others. What about Deeks. We don't get to see much the last while about his life or past or his relationship with Kensi beyond their flirtings on screen. No more Callen show for a good season at least.
Disappointed in the ending. the writers missed a great opportunity to end on a really emotional high note by letting Callen meet his dad. After 6 seasons its time.
Yes, that is being implied that is his father. The actor was Daniel J. Travanti. Since SB has mentioned he doesn't see Callen & his father meeting until the end of the series, I wasn't surprised by the near miss. Think he is the wrong choice to play Nikita Reznikov.
Anna – don't like and hope we never have to see her again!
I liked the season finale(was Good). But was disappointed, what about the IA investigation on Deeks after epi 18 they didint touch this plot.(i was so excited whit that history line)
I don't know I don't really think of a show like this as having a lead specifically. I think of the main team who goes into the field Sam, Callen, Deeks and Kensi as the leads or the main group and then you have your secondary smart tech characters like Eric and Nell. With Hetty of course as the leader of the group. This show used to do a little variety of character episodes for each one now it seems very Callen obsessed especially when it comes to the finales or two parters. Same goes for other CSI type shows or NCSI the original one. It's not like say Castle where the main character of the show is clearly based on the title and show description writer turned detective assistant Castle.
I thinnk Captain Farillo is a perfect choice to play Callen's father. I really enjoyed this episode but I was worried for a moment tha Anna was going to become a recurring character. I couldn't stand her and would be happy never to see her again. It's strange how people see things differently. I have been thinking this season has been Callen light and too much Deeks and Kensai, but others see it the other way. I guess it shows that if you have a favourite character then you want to see them more and it appears as if the other characters are getting more exposure, when then in fact it is probably about even.
I've never heard SB mention that about Callen meeting his father? where did you hear it? why would he want that to be at the end of the series? that doesn't really make sense to me. this show doesn't show alot of the personal lives of the agents so really meeting him would just be more banter material. I'm disappointed that Callen now thinks he's dead. I don't understand the point of having him think that.
I didn't realize it was Daniel J Travanti playing his dad. wow, haven't seen him since hill street. I loved that show. I agree with you about the season being Callen light. I want to see more of him. I think this show does a good job of balancing out the scenes for them all over the course of a season.
I too agree about Ana. didn't like the actress or the character. I hope we don't see her again.
On the Commentary from the DVD(forget which season) SB says something like," I can write the scene of Callen meeting his father like that(snaps fingers) but that won't happen for 15 or more seasons and the end of the series." Not exact quote but close. :-)
I think Hetty knows his father isn't the Hero lauded as or he has dementia or something like that.
i think u havent seen ncis yet every season in and out for 11 years will be related to gibbs.so to see the least this show has done some things good on that part.
thanks. I had never heard that. still, he doesn't have to meet his father face to face but he can know he's alive. I can see a scenario where his father maybe can't get out of Russia or the kgb will know he's alive. He and callen can correspond through Arcady. at the end of the series, callen gets him out. The writers don't have to make Callen think he's dead and I hope he discovers early in season 7 that he isn't.
I don't agree that Hetty knows his father at all. she did not know who he was until the Resnekov N espisode last season. I think she's learning about him as Callen is. But I do think arkady still knows more than he's told Callen. Maybe the writers left him behind so he can let callen know his father isn't dead? I hope so.
Now that I hear who was playing the father ( had not recognized it was Travanti) I have hope that next season we may get something because of what you said about why hire a name actor for a walk on. Thanks
I agree with you and ever since the show came back from the holiday break all episodes been about Sam and am sick of it am hoping next season it would focus about other characters
I am not saying Hetty knew him all a long but to make sure she told Callen about his father, I think she lied to give Callen closure and have him move on.
Sure we will see DJT again, 150 episode anyone? I do hope though he is revealed not to be Callen's father.
Is this issue with Callen's dad now over? They have to move on, or re-name the show NCIS Callen.
I was a little disappointed in the finale. No Deeks resolution of this issue with LAPD. I don't think Eric Christian Olsen had more then 10 lines of dialog last night. I love the cast, they just need a fresh set of writers.
Makes me wonder if Eric Christian Olsen said too much, and the showrunners switched things up. In a tv guide of interview earlier this season, he let it slip that Deeks got himself in some trouble, and was going back to LAPD. He leaked the progression of kensi and deeks relationship too. I hope they re-visit the IA issue next season.
I'm very disappointed about the finale and, quite frankly, the season itself. Maybe it's just me, but there seems to be too many times that the writers will begin a story just to end it quickly or never address it all. Not only is Deeks' LAPD case an example, but I remember at the beginning of last season (?) one of the cases was left unresolved and Hetty told the team that "this was only the tip of the iceberg". The case never was addressed again. Also in "Traitor" this season, we never even saw who had hired the "traitor" to infiltrate NCIS. That was never discussed. It seems as if the writers themselves are unable to create effective resolutions so the threads of cases are just left hanging in the wind, with the exception of the Callen continuous, and rather tedious, drama. In addition, I have to ask when the writers plan to address the fact that Deeks is still an LAPD officer even though he rarely acts as a liaison? Even the original NCIS eventually addressed ZIva's liaison status by Season 6. You would think that NCIS:LA would at least do the same.
I do believe the IA investigation will be addressed in Season 7. At the time, one of the ep's mentioned Deeks has created a web of lies. Something that will take time to unravel. The other stories unsure of.
I do think DiNozzo coming to visit will bring up that conversation with Deeks.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Was disappointed after all this time and all the mystery that we got the maddening near miss at the end with G's father.

ReplyDeleteDidn't like it. The most boring finale of any show, this year. It doesn't make me look forward to next season. Did like Arkady's daughter either.

Underwhelming episode.
would of been better if callen had a reuoinon with his father
ReplyDeleteWell, he is the lead character, after all.

ReplyDeleteDid anyone else notice the fact that the guy at the end episode is the same guy that was the receptionist when Sam was using a accent.
ReplyDeleteAre you craze, lLook right is not the same person!

What the hell, whey decided to kill of his father before even he was able to meet him!

ReplyDeleteThey have all along treated this IA investigation into Deeks rather offhandedly - it's like a tack-on they keep forgetting about.
ReplyDeletei'm sure it will end up being addressed in a couple of episodes next season.
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw the coin I said is his father and he fake his death

ditto on Anna... if someone from NCIS LA staff is reading this... leave Anna in Russia.
ReplyDeleteBut, bring Arkady back to LA. we love him.
