That was a good finale and I'm surprised one ended happy for once.
I don't like that April/Jackson have been ruined but at least Alex/Jo and Catherine/Richard got happy endings. And Meredith, Maggie, and Amelia were cute.
I expected waaay more, especially after that cryptic doom-spelling promo. But it was stellar, had its moments. Glad that Owen/Amelia wasn't really shoved down our throats. I guess she was pretty clear on what she wants. And who's running against Bailey? Did they say who or not? I knew Maggie's parents were getting a divorce last week. Totally knew it. But didn't see the cheesy affair part coming. It was actually way too calm for a GA finale! I'm surprised. Loved that Mer throwed the reception at the dream house.
Also, is Sarah Drew leaving the show?! Please tell me it ain't so!
Glad to see lots of Meredith, plus Alex and Bailey getting some stories setup for next year. It reminded me of the season 4 finale. I think something went down this year behind-the-scenes that threw off what they originally had planned. A lot of episodes were different from the releases that ABC put out (full stories cut) and Shonda even tweeted about doing more re-writes than ever. It makes sense that when they realized PD was going, they tried to push Amelia more than Maggie. Jo and Alex disappeared, so did Richard and Maggie bonding, Callie and Arizona never got resolution. They tried so hard to show Meredith surviving alone while Derek was in DC, plus all the rushed stories that came from the 1-year jump..
I think when the decision to kill off Derek came they knew they had to do it before the finale to show viewers that they could go on without him. When season 12 starts we'll already be used to it - 6 episodes earlier this season (which we know from Patrick's EW interview wasn't his choice, it was Shonda's), barely any story in the episodes he did appear, and then he's not in the final 4 hours aside from flashbacks. For a choppy season, I think it wrapped up well enough. I wish they said goodbye to a few more characters though so we could have more focus next season.
Poor finale in my opinion. I was promised that the Doctors would come closer together, which didn't really happen. Yes the only bright side was that Maggie/Meredith and Amelia got closer, but they aren't the only Doctors on Grey's...... Why couldn't we have more of that? They truly used the finale, to break up Japril, after Merder and Calzona. Do the Grey's writers want to annoy their whole fanbase? Do they think I care about Jolex and their crime scene home? I was with April and Arizona on that finale. I was crying like April, that's how disappointing it was. I wanted Arizona to hold my hand, too.
I don't know, I'm not the writer. But after they broke them up they struggled to do anything with either of them.Callie had a story with veterans earlier in the year that seemed to have been cut, Arizona got her Dr. Herman story and that eventually became all about Amelia. Neither of them got much at all to do in the back-half of this season.
i enjoyed this episode. We hadn't had a peaceful season finale like this one in years!
Of course they went against April and Jackson, i'm not a fan of them, but the drama clearly just keeps coming,
Hope Arizona and Callie reunite in season twelve, i don't know if i'm in the minority here, but i loved these two together.
Glad Alex and Jo are working their issues out. i'm confused, Is Meredith gonna stay in the "Merder" house, or is she gonna go back to her previous home?
The only part of the episode I even cared about was Owen and Amelia actually becoming a couple, but I guess when Shonda said they're going for a slow built with these two it was no lie. Jo and Alex are in for another season of being in the background and honestly they can stay there. They are beyond boring and it shows Shonda doesn't care about them at all when all she does with them is have them have one or two big scenes in a whole season. I feel bad for Justin he's never getting a challenging with his acting being pairing up with Camellia's character. I think Callie and Arizona are done until the series finale, Catherine/Richard are boring my hopes were on Jackson and April finally getting a happy ending after the crap they've been through but of course not it goes to the couple who haven't ever broken up, Jo and Alex. I can only hope next season we don't see Jo or Alex at all kind of like this season because it's really unfair how they've been together for 3 years without a break up while the other couples payed their dues. Meredith and Amelia are such a forced friendship that needs to end. Amelia deserves better.
Quite unhappy with April and Jackson potentially being over, but Jackson does have a point. April just went away and didn't bother with him or his reaction. Richard and Katherine piss me off. I want Jo to die, honestly, she's so boring. I'd rather have Alex with Maggie. As for Maggie - I love that she has no darkness in her life. She's a ray of light in the gloom of Grey-Sloan.
Why did Shonda ahd to break up April and Jackson. For once i was thinking they woukldnt do the whole separation thing because we lost a child. But she did it e.e This reminded me so much to S4 finale. There wasnt that much of sad endings. But a way to move on. Bailey gave Iz the keys to the Clinic, I think Derek showed Meredith the house in candles. and everyone was moving on. That was one of my favorites endings in GA history.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

Catherine and Richard definitely do NOT belong together! I always despised April so let's hope she is gone for good.
ReplyDeletethat was an excellent season finale. can't wait for season 12.
ReplyDeleteSarah is not levaving the show ... read this ...

I really thought we were going to be rid of Jo but unfortunately not. Got to suffer her next season! I want Alex with Maggie not Jo.

"Callie and Arizona never got resolution."

ReplyDeleteOkay now I got it. I thought you meant a resolution for them together. And I agree they didn't have much to do in the back half of the season.

GIVE ALEX A STORYLINE 2K15
