I am educated and I use to be able to understand the English language. But I cannot keep up with all the abbreviations. I guess I am obsolete, but please, What does WGN America mean?
I hope at some point the POI promo people realize the bevy of strong female characters on their show is HUGE draw for this little subsegment of the population we call "women."
Thanks. I wish that the entertainment and media industry was a kind as you. I don't own and haven't had a television since 2005. I guess that is why I am so out of touch. I thought it was my age.
What is WGN America? That's what almost every single person wonders when they accidentally stumble across this network. It's just a weird mix of shows that weren't syndicated elsewhere and scripted shows that somehow landed here. This network needs a focus and a direction.
WGN America really overpaid for both. I don't expect either to do that well in syndication. The write offs when they likely under perform may derail the network before it even gets going.
You can say whatever you want about sindications, but for me WGN original shows are so far really good and diverse. Manhattan was the best new show of last year, second season of Salem is so much better than first one and Outsiders sounds like another cool project.
"Really good and diverse" is fair enough and a matter of personal preference. But when Salem pulls in roughly 600K live viewers a night, there's an issue with finding a focus that can attract an audience sufficient enough for the nationwide coverage.
While no one really knows the renewal bar at WGN America, but I think that it's a reasonable assessment that pulling in infomercial numbers has to be concerning to WGN America. Viewers aren't attracted to their new shows. I haven't seen Manhattan's ratings, but since there isn't a press release for them, I'd imagine its ratings are similar.
Loved Manhattan season 1, can't wait for s2. Salem s2 has been entertaining as ever. As for the POI and Elementary syndication? A+. Love those shows so much. Fun reel.
I personally really enjoyed it. It's a bit slow to start maybe but it's strong. Beautiful cinematography and direction. Great characters (I especially adore the women), they can only get stronger as the show progresses.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I was worried there would really be a crossover. Luckily, it's just a programming pairing.
ReplyDeleteHa, for a second there, I thought they were really going to do a crossover episode.
ReplyDelete"Person of Interest this fall"? Hmmm, either they're telling porkies or CBS hasn't cemented their fall schedule yet.
ReplyDeletejust wait a damn minute! POI on WGN!?!? The F*** is that

ReplyDeleteIt's the call sign for an American cable network.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cable channel

WGN is going to be the primary syndication home (at least on cable) for POI and Elementary.

ReplyDeleteWGN America derives its name from the call-letters of the Chicago-based superstation owned by the channel's owners.
ReplyDeleteNow renew me some Salem WGN!
ReplyDeleteFor a second I thought there was really a crossover xD
