Orphan Black - Certain Agony of the Battlefield - Advance Preview
20 May 2015
Orphan Black Reviews ROOrphan Black will continue its amazing third season next Saturday on BBC America with an all new episode titled "Certain Agony of the Battlefield". I must admit, last week, I was a bit disappointed, IMO it was the weakest episode of the season so far. Things will change completely in "Certain Agony of the Battlefield".
It’ll be a very dense episode, so exciting, with many twists and revelations. The combination of the different storylines (Sarah/Helena/Cosima/Allison), and Delphine and Rachel’s comebacks will really make this episode standout. From the beginning to the end, you’ll be on the edge of your seat.
Last week, Paul started to suspect Dr Virginia Coady and her boys clones were up to no good. He didn’t like Sarah being taken to the base either, and so he won’t like what Dr Coady’s planned for Sarah now Helena had escaped. Paul will start to question Dr Coady’s and her actions at Castor.
I’ve always been a huge fan of Paul. First of course because he’s very hot but that’s not all. Paul turned out to be a very complex and surprising character, I’ve enjoyed all the revelations about him (being a monitor, working with Rachel) but the fact he is Castor really blew me away last season. Paul will finally explain why he came to Dyad and worked as Beth’s monitor in "Certain Agony of the Battlefield".
Sarah will have the perfect line about him in this episode “You’re the worst Paul, because I don’t know where you stand”. It’s very accurate and that's what so interesting in Paul. He has always been hiding things from Sarah and the girls but still he has always protected them the way he could… Until he asked Mrs S for Helena. So, what will Paul do now ? Will he help Sarah or is his link to the brothers stronger ? You’ll find out in "Certain Agony of the Battlefield".
And here’s a list of what to expect from "Certain Agony of the Battlefield" :
- Delphine is back ! Finally ! Sarah has disappeared, so Top Site is worried and Delphine will be so pissed Cosima didn't call her. Things will be tense between the ex lovers, but Tatiana Maslany and Evelyn Brochu have such a great chemistry, their scenes will be really great.
- Sarah will experience some very weird dreams. They will be quite revealing too and they might actually be her best help.
- We will see a young Castor family picture. Those boys looked like angels at that time.
- Gracie will feel better than last week. Cosima has worked on her sickness, what caused it and where it came from… The answers will be shocking.
- Allison will meet with her drug lord/former High School flame again… And Donnie will start to be jealous of them.... Cute. And Allison will explain her plan to keep their business on moving forward. Her plan will be pretty good. But it feels like she forgets about her school trustee campaign...
- Tatiana Maslany will be absolutely amazing in one scene, even more amazing than usual. IMO, it’ll be one of her best performances in the entire show. It’s so crazy how she’s able to give so many feelings in one scene, playing two different characters. This clone confrontation will be amazing, it'll be so emotional and so powerful.
- Helena and her scorpion will have a rough time in the desert. It’ll be very hot out there and there's nothing but sand. Can Helena really survive alone ? Rudy will be sent to get her back. How much do you want to see a Helena/Rudy confrontation ?
- One character will make a drastic and brave choice.
- Last week, Cosima had a great first date with Shay… And in "Certain Agony of the Battlefield", Cosima will still be dating her, spending her time at her place. I’ve never wanted to see Cosima with anyone else than Delphine but it’ll actually feel very good to watch her being happy and kinky. But, there’s this weird vibe about Shay. Especially when she'll start asking about Cosima's lab and Sarah... Maybe it’s paranoia from me. And, the deal with the pictures taken during her date with Cosima will be resolved. We’ll know who took them.
- Kira will be back ! And not only in a dream. She’s always the cutest.
- So, Paul will suspect Dr Coady’s actions. He will look into her things and it’ll turn out she is hiding something, for a long time. And it's something huge. I’ve never expected that from her.
- As seen in the promo, Felix will visit Rachel, aka The Cyclope. Their scenes will be quite funny, because well there’s Felix and Rachel powerless in a wheelchair but Felix will also show a deeper side. Jordan Gavaris will be quite spectacular showing this side of Felix. He will visit Rachel to try to get more info on Castor, and a way to find Sarah. He really worries for his sister. And Rachel has to know something about Castor, as she won't be in a position to make threats like before, she'll have to answer questions.... if she can speak more than one word.
- There will be a declaration of love. It’s not yet the “I love you” but it’s close and it'll be as touching.
- Sarah will start feeling very sick after Dr Coady’s experiences. That nasty woman has done something wrong to our Sarah ! I don't like it, and of course, Paul won’t like it either.
- Someone will be played and that will put a lot of people at risk.
- We will finally find out why the male clones were collecting DNA samples from various women during their trips. I must admit I’ve never really guessed it, I hope you'll be as surprised as I was but it'll totally make sense. And of course, those answers will open new questions… Exciting questions.
- Donnie and Allison will have the best dance sequence of the entire show. Honestly, if you can watch it without laughing out loud, you're strong or quite depressed. It'll be hilarious. Those two are the best. They''ll be enjoying their new lives as drug dealers, especially Donnie.
- Scott will make a shocking discovery.
- I bet you always wanted to see Bubble’s right ? If so, well, you’ll be quite satisfied with "Certain Agony of the Battlefield".... : )
- Okay so now huge final teaser ! Don’t read unless you’re really want to know… Fine, your choice. There will be two major deaths in "Certain Agony of the Battlefield". Get your tissues.
"Certain Agony of the Battlefield" might be the best episode of the season so far. It will definitely feel like a season finale, especially in the last ten minutes. I’m so glad it’s not the season finale because I just can’t get enough of this season. Everything is well constructed , all the episodes are brilliant.
In "Certain Agony of the Battlefield", there will be many revelations and twists and pieces will start to come together, it will introduce new developments for the remaining episodes of the season. Clearly, it’s the episode we don’t want to miss ! Mark your calendar for next Saturday, and watch the excellent latest Orphan Black on BBC America.
And finally some quotes from "Certain Agony of the Battlefield". Guess who'll say them :
"I miss you"
"Does that make me a monster ?"
"Make this right"
"A wilder version of me"
"What happened there ?"

"I was a bit disappointed, IMO it was the weakest episode of the season so far. Things will change completely in "Certain Agony of the Battlefield".
ReplyDeleteYes! That was exactly what I was hoping for, as it felt like a table turning episode!
"Paul turned out to be a very complex and surprising character, I’ve enjoyed all the revelations about him (being a monitor, working with Rachel) but the fact he is Castor really blew me away last season. Paul will finally explain why he came to Dyad and worked as Beth’s monitor in "Certain Agony of the Battlefield".
It's one reason I love this series, and good psychological thrillers, because characters can constantly change your perspective of them and I have always felt that what makes Orphan Black so rich, is that they have the right cast next to TM to bring the complexity out!

Cooil, and yes, I want to see Bubbles!!!!!!
Thanks Romain, this episode sounds like they crammed a lot stuff in again! Can. Not. Wait!!!!
Will it hurt a lot? :-)
ReplyDeleteYou were absolutely right about the last episode, it served to introduce an explosive episode this week. Your comments helped me writing the article so thank you very much :) I'm sure you'll enjoy the episode. Can't wait for Saturday and hear your thoughts about the episode.
ReplyDeleteThis episode will definitely explore the complexity and diversity of each characters on orphan Black (and there are so many now).
Hehe I knew you wanted to be see Bubbles ! :)
It hurt me...
ReplyDeleteOh god, I can't wait. That seems to be an epic episode.
ReplyDeleteDo Alison now that Sarah is missing? Somehow I would love to see Cosima, Alison and Felix working together to get Sarah back. In the past, it was always Sarah who did the action. It would be nice to see what her siblings can do without her.
No, Allison is still very busy with her drug dealing and all... I don't think Cosima or Felix have told her about Sarah. In this episode, Sarah will have been missing for 5 days. But I'd love to see Cosima + Allison doing more action.
ReplyDeleteWell, Cosima and Felix are a good team too. I like the dynamic between them and I'm curious to them both working together to find their sister.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Romain :-)
ReplyDeleteTrue, they have a great dynamic... And this week with Gracie, Delphine and Rachel in the mix, they'll be at their best.
ReplyDeleteOh my. "..might be the best episode" It really is! Oh shit. I have no words.
ReplyDeleteI was planning on watching it on Friday night but after reading your preview I *had* to watch it and I'm glad I did.
Really felt like a season finale as you said. The music at the end with the scene really felt like one.
Glad to see the writers haven't run out of ideas just yet.
Huh, so my theory about Gracie's desease being link to castor and the DNA samples they are collecting is wrong. x) Well it's better that way I guess because I don't see how the castor can have two different sickness, one that kill them and an other that doesn't do anything to them but are giving it to other people. In any case Coady is up to no good.
ReplyDeleteWill Sarah be out of the facility by the end of the episode ?
Looks like there is shocking decoveries in every episodes... x)
Oh boy! Hey, without giving too much away, could you confirm if there is much nudity and/or sex in this ep? I'm asking because I'll be spending the weekend with family and, um, ya know...was just wondering how suitable this upcoming ep may be to watch with mom? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteCan you give us a hint if the death is of any of the clones (both Leda and Castor)?
ReplyDeleteThere's just an awkward and funny scene at the same time in the beginning but that's it lol. (people involved in their underwear)
ReplyDeleteOk! People in underwear? Ok, family viewing. Totally nekkid? Naaah... Thanks!
ReplyDelete"Your comments helped me writing the article so thank you very much :) "
ReplyDeleteOh! ::blushes:: Well glad to be of service! ^^
I'm seriously scared and thrilled for the episode! I think this might have been one of longest and enthusiastic previews you have written! XD
I'm guessing one of the deaths is Rudy. It just feels like it's time to lose a Castor, and Mark dying so soon after escaping death and before reuniting with Gracie would be anti climactic. Rudy is going to be chasing after Helena in the middle of a hellscape - perfect opportunity.
ReplyDeleteAs for the other - I'm now terrified for Paul. They said he would have a good character arc this season - as long as he wasn't around or doing much I wasn't worried about him because he could hardly go before this supposedly amazing arc. Now that he's actually getting to do stuff? Instantly afraid.
My try.
ReplyDelete1. Delphine
2. Helena
3. Sarah
4. Cosima
5. Felix
Nice try, you got 2 right :)
ReplyDeleteQuote Guess
ReplyDelete1. Delphine
2. Rachel
3. Sarah
4. Beth
5. Paul
Yeah!!
ReplyDeleteHave fun writing!
ReplyDeleteAnd my guesses wasn't for the quotes, it was four guesses for the 2 deaths! LOL!
I was trying not to write "deaths", because I was trying to be less spoilerish in my post! Cats out of the bag!
Oh sorry I misread. I wasn't very much awake this morning clearly :)
ReplyDeleteBut I don't want to spoil anything about those deaths :) I'll say a clone will go down :(
A clone will go down :'(
ReplyDeleteYou got one correct :)
ReplyDeleteI like the way you guess :)
ReplyDeleteNo worries! Catch you later! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly convinced I'm right about Rudy. Unfortunately I'm also fairly convinced I'm right about Paul which I don't want to be. He's finally getting something to do and we're finally going to get concrete answers about him. I guess I'd rather they kill off my favorite underwritten male character, rather than my favorite underwritten female character which is what happens on every other show I watch.
ReplyDeleteI suppose I'll throw my hat in on quote guesses.
"I miss you" - Delphine
"Does that make me a monster?" - Gracie
"Make this right" - Paul
"A wilder version of me" - Cosima
"What happened there?" - Mrs S
No, not again! It was a shame that one Castor was killed off so quickly before being properly fleshed out - but then again, so did the Leda ladies losing Beth and the German girl (not counting those already dead on Cosima's note)..
ReplyDeleteRachel isn't much well either... Helena is in a tough situation too. So it can be a Leda clone... Or a castor one again. I was sad to see Seth go so quickly. I've kinda missed him. And Parsons died too.
ReplyDeleteIt's a dangerous world out there for the clones, both sides has suffered losses.
No, not the Leda clones =( Helena is pregnant, would be cruel of the writers to kill her off (even more because of the beautiful scene in the garden with all the seestras). Alisson is out of the equation since her entrepreneur is just beginning and she would be too much of a loss concerning comic relief. Cosima after her vision last season is out of question and because she does the Science for the group. Sarah is the star, so they wouldn't dare kill her off.. Rachel is recovering, she has potential story-wise to be developed IMHO... Here, even if I dislike the idea, hope that would be one of the Castors - perhaps Mark.
ReplyDeleteRomain, your advanced preview is usually delivered one day before the episode. I was craving, though, for info from the next episode... I should've read only friday, but I love spoilers lol.
Hah, I just realized I replied with my old account. Wonder why chrome decided to log me in as that one.
ReplyDeleteCan't be bothered to remotely care about Paul or Delphine's return. Paul's a generic hot guy played by a mediocre actor, and Delphine is pretty much useless (Which is probably the reason Cosima dind't call her) both her and Paul trying to act is about as exciting as watching paint dry
