Thanks to Mr. Edmodo for the heads up.
Add Sunday drama Oil to the list of newly picked up ABC/ABC Studios drama series that will be undergoing recasting. Oil, toplned by Don Johnson and Chace Crawford, examines the biggest oil discovery in American history which has triggered a geopolitical shift and an economic boom in North Dakota on a scale not seen since the 1849 California Gold Rush. The series will be recasting two series regular characters played in the pilot by Caitlin Carver and Yani Gellman.

Carver portrayed Lacey Boyd, the younger daughter of Hap (Johnson). Gellman played A.J. Menendez, Hap’s personal driver who leads a triple life: He’s not only Lacey’s clandestine lover, he’s a spy for the reigning family of Saudi Arabia as a member of its royal family. And Lacey’s pillow talk gets passed along to the Middle East as soon as she falls asleep.

  6. Are ABC studios so desperate during the making of the pilots that they chose so many "wrong" actors to portray them?

  7. Deadline ran several articles during pilot season about how late some of the scripts being developed were picked up to pilot, which led to a bigger time crunch than usual to cast roles. It will be interesting if the other networks recast some of their shows as well.

  11. glad they recast the girl. sorry but i didn't like her on the fosters.
it must be hard though. you make it through the pilot process just to be told : sorry, we knew you were not an ideal choice, now that we don't need you anymore, we go find a better actor.

  12. Wasn't that show filmed in Africa? That would be expensive if they reshoot it.

  13. Can't say I have strong feelings over this news.

I don't really know either of the actors and I think we barely saw both of them in the promo...

  14. If you were ever a fan of Lizzie Maguire, he played love interest to Hillary Duff in the movie. :)

  15. I only casually watched the show.
As I said I don't know them. I'm usually good with remembering actors. I googled them to make sure I hadn't seen them in anything, which I was right, I hadn't.

And so my original point stands: I don't care.

  16. Well if the recast gets undone, perhaps soon you'll do if the character figures in the grand scheme of things.

  17. Oh sure! If he does end up sticking around and I end up sticking with the show, then I will care, and I will remember him from here on.

As is though, not knowing him and not having seen him in the pilot of this, I'm super indifferent.
