Can we name this The Oil Catch and turn The Catch back into Smoke and Mirrors. Jk
Blood and Oil is a bit more intriguing, but doesn't serve the show. But still better than just Oil. They should've choosen an intriguing term surrounding the Oil industry.
Noup S&M was for The Catch. As far as I know the Family didn't have a title at all. It was called the Jean Bean project or something, all the way up to the pick up.
IMO ABC needs to change the title of "The Family". When i heard that i honestly thought it was a family drama but it is a political Thriller/ mystery. Do you know what i mean?
Person of Oil The Oil Diaries Oil of Tomorrow Secrets and Oil House of Oil Boom's Anatomy Mike and Oily Criminal Minds: Beyond Oil The Good Oil Sleepy Oillow
Honestly I was more than surprises by the trailer it had some edge. A bit gulible but okay. Looking forward to my ABC Sundays, just June, July, August and most of September have to pass. 😂😂😂
It was badly cut, they wanted to reveal things but not really reveal them, show parts of the story but not really show them. I think it could work and raise to glory as a Dark Horse.
Trivia: Sunday night's will still have a bit of Revenge as well as Once Upon a Time on it as Don Johnson's character Hap Briggs's wife Darla is played by Amber Valletta who you will remember as Lydia Davis and his son Wick is played by Scott Michael Foster who you will remember as Kristoff on OUaT and as Jonas on The River.
So instead of one generic word in the title, ABC decided it was a genius idea to give it two generic words separated by and. Because that'll save the show.
Sounds ok to me, a bit grittier. I thought the trailer was interesting so I was sold on trying the pilot anyway. The [people who were going to watch will likely still watch and those who weren't still wont. I dont think this title change will affect that kind of thing drastically enough to matter.
Oil and Blood sounds better but this is an improvement anyway. Now change The Family back to Original Sin and call it a day. The family is a very bad name. I could understand if they wanted to pair it with the Wednesday comedy block but there is no sense in keeping this name on the Sunday line up.
100% serious. I LOVE I ! As I said Blood represents the BLOODline of family and Oil represents Higgs other love that he shares with Billy, the son he wished his was more like.
Interesing. All our tastes our different. To me it's the next Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest, Desperate Housewives, Melrose Place, Secrets and Lies, or Revenge.
Listening to the title more and more, I feel like "Blood and Oil" sounds somewhat more appropriate and closer to the show's premise than neither "Boom" (which could pass for Dallas 2.0's tagline in unison with TNT's current "Drama Boom" phase) nor Oil (imagine the promos' voiceovers: "ABC's Oiiiil!" Ughhh!).
"Bakken and Fillin" "Drill, Baby, Drill" "Oil or Nothing" "Oil Never Tell" "Tell Daryl Hannah and Neil Young We're Going Ahead With The Project" "Black Gold, Texas Tea" "Tell Barack We're Gonna Build A Pipeline Right Through Michelle's Walk-In Closet" "Carbon Tax" "Well, Well, Well" "Frack This" "Saudi Dakota" "Blame Big Oil" "Rig Count" "This Oil Man Came Rolling Home"
Now everytime I hear the title I'll think of "There Will Be Blood", which in my country was translated as "Petroleo Sangriento", which is something like "Bloody Oil". BTW, I don't like the way it sounds.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Why leave out Sweat? What wrong did it do? ;)
ReplyDeleteBoth titles are weird but ABC is very smart! more people might tune in of they hear "Blood and oil"
ReplyDeleteI honestly would have taken American Boom over either Oil or Blood and Oil.
ReplyDeleteI think this is more of a selling tittle to be honest, so I don't mind the change But I would have preferred American Boom lol
ReplyDeleteI agree, that would have been better.
ReplyDeleteI have to disagree Babar. I LOVE the title change.
ReplyDeleteOil and Sweat would have been better.
ReplyDeleteBlood and Oil are not two words you hear together. Also, there was no "blood" in the trailer at leat.
ReplyDeleteI vote for American Oil Story.
ReplyDeleteCan we name this The Oil Catch and turn The Catch back into Smoke and Mirrors. Jk
ReplyDeleteBlood and Oil is a bit more intriguing, but doesn't serve the show. But still better than just Oil. They should've choosen an intriguing term surrounding the Oil industry.
Why not just change the name to Dallasty ( Dallas & Dynasty ) and call it a day. ;)
ReplyDeletereminds me of Dallas.
ReplyDeleteSmoke and Mirrors was the previous title of The Family, not The Catch.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a drama about family then of course their is 'blood' in the pilot. ;)
ReplyDeleteOkay, that sort of blood. Hmm.
ReplyDeleteNoup S&M was for The Catch. As far as I know the Family didn't have a title at all. It was called the Jean Bean project or something, all the way up to the pick up.
ReplyDeleteIt was called Flesh and Blood and then Original Sin.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the third time is the charm and this name will stick?
ReplyDeleteI Didn't know that, even though I remember the Original Sin but didn't thought it was for this show.
ReplyDeleteI always recognized it as the JB project from former GA producer and the pilot with Zach Gilford.
This is not any better.
ReplyDeleteYou guys are confusing me with all those title changes lol😂
ReplyDeleteThe Oil Diaries

ReplyDeleteGame of Oil

IMO ABC needs to change the title of "The Family". When i heard that i honestly thought it was a family drama but it is a political Thriller/ mystery. Do you know what i mean?

ReplyDeleteMy exact thought, e.g The Family
ReplyDeleteBTW ABC changed the facebook page link to https://www.facebook. com/BloodAndOilABC
ReplyDeletePerson of Oil lol!
ReplyDeleteThe Oil Scandal
ReplyDeleteI am indifferent to this name, I even liked the former more.
ReplyDeleteThe previous titles (Flesh and Blood & Original Sin) were better.
ReplyDeleteThe Legends of Oil
ReplyDeleteOnce upon an oil
The Family should be changed I agree, its very generic.
ReplyDeleteAgreed
ReplyDeleteOriginal Sin was IMO the best
ReplyDeleteJap
ReplyDeleteSuperoil/ Superboom
ReplyDeleteOnce Upon a Time in an Oilfield
ReplyDeleteLol
ReplyDeleteOil Boom.
ReplyDeleteTo me "The Family" sounds like a title for a comedy.
ReplyDeleteOil's Anatomy
ReplyDeleteOil Five-0
The Good Oil
Under The Oil
Exactly. A family comedy-drama
ReplyDeleteHonestly I was more than surprises by the trailer it had some edge. A bit gulible but okay.
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to my ABC Sundays, just June, July, August and most of September have to pass. 😂😂😂
Will you watch Of Kings and Prophets?
ReplyDeleteName one of the characters "Olive"...
ReplyDeleteYes and the catch lol.
ReplyDeleteIt was badly cut, they wanted to reveal things but not really reveal them, show parts of the story but not really show them.
ReplyDeleteI think it could work and raise to glory as a Dark Horse.
ReplyDeleteSo instead of one generic word in the title, ABC decided it was a genius idea to give it two generic words separated by and. Because that'll save the show.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Boom has a risque connotation to some people. They may think it's way more adult than the subject matter actually is.
ReplyDeleteBlood and oil makes this show sound even more unappealing. Oil was very ominous but this..
ReplyDeleteOil and Blood sounds much better.
ReplyDeleteIt ALL makes SENSE now !
ReplyDeleteBlood = Hap Briggs's love for his son Wick
Oil - Harper's respect ... and love ... for his new Oil progeny/the son he wished he had ... Billy LeFever
Sounds ok to me, a bit grittier. I thought the trailer was interesting so I was sold on trying the pilot anyway. The [people who were going to watch will likely still watch and those who weren't still wont. I dont think this title change will affect that kind of thing drastically enough to matter.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with ABC and bad titles?
ReplyDeleteOil and Blood sounds better but this is an improvement anyway. Now change The Family back to Original Sin and call it a day. The family is a very bad name. I could understand if they wanted to pair it with the Wednesday comedy block but there is no sense in keeping this name on the Sunday line up.
ReplyDeletesounds like the beginning of a Paula Deen recipe.
ReplyDeleteIf a title can sink a potential show even before start, this one would be it.Poor ABC and their show titles!
ReplyDeleteThat's not much better but it is better.
ReplyDeleteI still liked Boom better
ReplyDeleteIt is a amazing title Joy.
ReplyDeleteBlood = Hap Briggs's love for his son and Oil 'heir' Wick.
Oil - Harper's respect ... and love ... for his new Oil progeny/the son he wished he had ... Billy
I can't if it's sarcasm but i like BOOM much better than these two.
ReplyDelete100% serious. I LOVE I !
ReplyDeleteAs I said Blood represents the BLOODline of family and Oil represents Higgs other love that he shares with Billy, the son he wished his was more like.
I wasn't impressed by the trailer at all.I thought i would give it a chance coz of Chace but nope.
ReplyDeleteInteresing. All our tastes our different. To me it's the next Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest, Desperate Housewives, Melrose Place, Secrets and Lies, or Revenge.
ReplyDeleteAnd i think it'll flop miserably and get pulled from the schedule after 4-5 episodes.LOL!
ReplyDeletelol
ReplyDeleteI guess we will have to wait and see.
I believe James "Sonny" Crockett, Lydia Davis, Nate Archibald, and Kristoff will make this show a hit.
Better, but not by much. As other people have pointed out, Blood and Oil has a better ring to it.
ReplyDeleteABC is now proud to announce that bad titles have expanded outside of comedies on Tuesdays!
ReplyDeleteThey should just go back to the title "Boom". It is simple and has an appropriate double-meaning that suits the series.
ReplyDeleteThe word "oil" simply does not work for a title because it has no impact or musicality (it doesn't roll off the tongue).
SO EXCITED FOR THIS SHOW!
ReplyDeleteFirstly: Again?
ReplyDeleteSecondly: Meh...
Everything Sounds better with the word "Blood" in the title.
ReplyDeleteListening to the title more and more, I feel like "Blood and Oil" sounds somewhat more appropriate and closer to the show's premise than neither "Boom" (which could pass for Dallas 2.0's tagline in unison with TNT's current "Drama Boom" phase) nor Oil (imagine the promos' voiceovers: "ABC's Oiiiil!" Ughhh!).
ReplyDeleteOil righty, then:
ReplyDelete"Bakken and Fillin"
"Drill, Baby, Drill"
"Oil or Nothing"
"Oil Never Tell"
"Tell Daryl Hannah and Neil Young We're Going Ahead With The Project"
"Black Gold, Texas Tea"
"Tell Barack We're Gonna Build A Pipeline Right Through Michelle's Walk-In Closet"
"Carbon Tax"
"Well, Well, Well"
"Frack This"
"Saudi Dakota"
"Blame Big Oil"
"Rig Count"
"This Oil Man Came Rolling Home"
Now everytime I hear the title I'll think of "There Will Be Blood", which in my country was translated as "Petroleo Sangriento", which is something like "Bloody Oil". BTW, I don't like the way it sounds.
ReplyDeleteBoom! is the name of a game show on FOX so they had to change that.
ReplyDeleteCast changes, Title changes...first cancellation of the fall 2015, anyone?
ReplyDeleteWhy the obssesion with putting "American" on every show now?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea why the networks are doing that.
ReplyDeleteYep. Look what happened to (American) Odyssey.
ReplyDeleteStill ain't gonna watch it, hope it fails I know it will eventually. I'm evil today!
ReplyDeleteAmerican Horror Story, American Crime, American Odissey, American Crime Story...
ReplyDeleteI think there are far more likely candidates, namely its lead-out
