Thanks to Mr. Edmodo, Omabin and Ben. L for the heads up.
With new comedic hour Scream Queens set for the fall, I hear Fox may shake up the Tuesday comedy lineup, holding the night’s staple New Girl until January. I hear the strategic move is designed to give New Girl’s fifth season a virtually uninterrupted run, which is very helpful for a serialized comedy as proven recently by new Fox midseason drama Last Man on Earth, which ran continuously. In the fall, New Girl gets interrupted for baseball and then the holidays, sometime disrupting its momentum as was the case in its first season.
Meanwhile, Tuesday would be familiar territory for Scream Queens creators Ryan Murphy Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan and co-star Lea Michele as that is where Glee once aired, most recently during the 2013-14 season.

That's funny, same thing happened to "Parks and Recreation": they filmed a bunch of episodes early to accommodate the lead actress' pregnancy, but then the show got bumped to midseason.
ReplyDeleteScream Queens vs. the 2 hour The Voice chair turn episodes would be disastrous for FOX. That exact audience watches those chair turns and will just DVR Scream Queens. They really should think about that more.
ReplyDeleteWait Scream Queens is a comedy ? I thought it was suppose to be a thriller show?
ReplyDeleteThis makes 100% sense. I've been wanting FOX to do Scream Queens-Grinder-Grandpa for weeks now. Very good move.
ReplyDeleteIt's a horror-comedy.
ReplyDeleteThe only horror-comedy that I'm familiar with is Drag me to Hell. I'm not really sure what to think about this. If it's too campy, I might not like it.
ReplyDeleteDammit!! Now i have to wait longer. After that finale, i really didn't want to wait any longer.
ReplyDeleteIt'll probably be camp, especially with it being on broadcast TV so they'll have to downplay the horror elements.
ReplyDeleteI can't see it being as dark as some comedy-horror films

But then again when I think of Comedy-horror I think of The Rocky Horror Picture Show so...yeah...
Unsurprising with the number of sci-fi projects ordered. There just wasn't enough spots to place New Girl in the fall. Its ratings and Mindy's cacellation probably made the decision easier, as it signaled a need for fresh blood. I'm more interested in the pairings of Gotham/Lucifer/Minority Report/Sleepy Hollow/Frankenstein Code/X-Files/Houdini and Doyle because you could argue it multiple ways.
ReplyDeleteWhen you put it that way, 4 out of the 5 nights are genre dominated except for Empire. FOX obviously didn't think about that before making the schedule. They are entering crash and burn territory.
ReplyDeleteJanuary? That seems quite far away. Also, we can safely rule out a full season of 22-23 episodes, right? Or is it possible?
ReplyDeleteI think they could. If they did a few weeks with double eps (premiere and finale, for sure) they could squeeze 22 from January through May, easy. I think the wait is hard between seasons but having less breaks or no breaks between episodes is even better.
ReplyDeleteThere's also the question of doing double bills in case another comedy fails.
ReplyDeleteWell, that may give the writers a chance to avoid taking out Zooey from the 4 episodes she would be away, they just have to wait some more time to shoot.
ReplyDeleteConsidering the ratings, it's not surprising. I wonder where it will land
After the nonsense of NBC is nice to see some logic
ReplyDeleteWE still dont know if Scream Queens will last. Im not sure it will
ReplyDeleteI hope it doesn't move to Fridays :(
ReplyDeleteAnyone else wish that picture had the eyes like in the middle? Lol.
ReplyDeleteDrag Me to Hell was a comedy?
ReplyDeletehorror-comedy
ReplyDeleteAh!! So, they could definitely squeeze in 22 episodes. I was afraid that after such a stellar S4, they would have to cut back on the episodes.
ReplyDeleteIts a good idea. Fewer breaks/repeats in the schedule and the lead actress is going to want time off to be with her new born. Not to mention the shows ratings are crap anyway and they probably want to air new shows in the Fall where ratings are generally higher. They should keep more of their veteran shows back till mid season.
ReplyDeleteThe Voice is one hour on Tuesdays, not two.
ReplyDeleteI hope more shows follow this trend. I don't mind waiting a few extra months if it means airing without breaks. All these weeks the shows are off just ruin the flow and momentum of the shows.
ReplyDeleteI didn't find anything laugh-out-loud funny in that movie.
ReplyDeletelol really? The gory thing that always ends up at the girls mouth. The seance scene and not to mention Sam Raimi.
