NBC Orders 3 New Shows

May 1, 2015

Chicago Med
Executive producer Dick Wolf delivers the newest installment of the compelling “Chicago” franchise, an emotional thrill ride through the day-to-day chaos of the city’s most explosive hospital and the courageous team of doctors who hold it together. They will tackle unique new cases inspired by topical events, forging fiery relationships in the pulse-pounding pandemonium of the emergency room, and through it all, familiar faces from the Chicago police and fire departments will intertwine as this third team of Chicago heroes hits the ground running. Chicago Fire creators Derek Haas and Michael Brandt will write and executive-produce with Matt Olmstead and Dick Wolf. Cast: Yaya DaCosta, S. Epatha Merkerson, Oliver Platt, Laurie Holden.

Blindspot
From executive producer Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “The Flash,” “The Mysteries of Laura”) comes “Blindspot”: A vast international plot explodes when a beautiful Jane Doe is discovered naked in Times Square, completely covered in mysterious, intricate tattoos with no memory of who she is or how she got there. There’s one that’s very clear, however: the name of FBI agent Kurt Weller, emblazoned across her back. “Jane,” Agent Weller and rest of the FBI quickly realize that each mark on her body is a crime to solve, leading them closer to the truth about her identity and the mysteries to be revealed. Martin Gero will write and executive-produce with Greg Berlanti. Cast: Jaimie Alexander, Sullivan Stapleton, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Ashley Johnson, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza, Ukweli Roach.

Heartbreaker
Based on the real life and achievements of Dr. Kathy Magliato, this unique character-driven medical drama follows Dr. Alex Panttiere (Melissa George, “The Slap”), an outspoken world-renowned heart-transplant surgeon and one of the few women in her field. Stubborn and fearless, Alex always operates on her own terms. She revels in a racy personal life that’s a full-time job in itself, manages the daily demands of skeptical faculty and dutiful interns, and pushes the boundaries of medical science to impressive new heights. Cast: Melissa George, Dave Annable, Don Hany, Shelley Conn, Maya Erskine, Jamie Kennedy, Joshua Leonard, J. Louis Mills, Rudy Martinez, D.L. Hughley.

  1. And NBC's getting started a few days early. I love this time of year!

Not sure if I'm interested in but yay with Jaimie Alexander and Ashley Johnson's show getting picked up!

    ReplyDelete
  2. I usually don't look who wrote, I just look at the avatar and I was like who is this now??
    And than I see Klutzy_girl! O.O Barely recognized U ;-)

P.S. I think Blindspot will be a good thing.

    ReplyDelete
  3. Nne of this sounds inetresting to me, maybe Blindspot.

    ReplyDelete
  4. With 2 medical drama TNS is a goner
Heartbreaker has flop written all over it

    ReplyDelete
  5. My personal favorite among the announced pilots and now pick up! *yay (screaming inside)*

    ReplyDelete
  6. Pass on all 3 for me. NBC never interests me, I've only ever watched 4 of their shows and other than Friends, all of them were either cancelled or I dropped them.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I will watch Blindspot, sounds pretty cool. But I also want Endgame and... especially... Game of Silence. Pleaseee

    ReplyDelete
  8. I wasn't interesting by the name at first so I didn't bother looking it up on google or anything and I'm glad I now have read the article! Interesting, interesting.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I'll try Blindspot.
Same for me. The only shows that I've watched on NBC are Revolution (RIP) and American Odyssey (soon RIP)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Quite interesting and Berlanti being behind the project is just a plus.
Just not a fan of the male lead, at least what he his 300 sequel performance wasn't for me.

    ReplyDelete
  11. You should add that Sony wants to bundle TNS,The Player and Game of Silence hence why The Player wasnt ordered to series yet.

    ReplyDelete
  12. To be honest, I've never heard of him... I guess I'll be able juge his performance on Blindspot! :p

    ReplyDelete
  13. None of this sounds good. I gave up on the Chicago shows and then there is another doctor show and yet another boring crime procedural. Nothing about Blindspot sounds new and interesting. The premise is probably different from other shows but in the end it will be nothing more than we have already seen a thousand times.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Blindspot doesn't sound like my thing at all but even if it did, Berlanti would seriously put me off it.
I watched Revolution too but dropped it, same with Heroes, and Constantine isn't coming back.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Good for U. A clean slate is always better than a bad or good one. Nothing to fear and nothing to expect.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I bet Sony wants them to renew TNS first

    ReplyDelete
  17. Deadline says that Sony wants to bundle TNS, Game of Silence and The Player(Endgame)

    ReplyDelete
  18. None of these really interest me. I'll wait though for the first promos, maybe they will change my mind.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Deadline reports that Sony is trying to bundle the night shift together with game of silence and endgame. I would be so pleased if they managed to get all three!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Chicago Med? Like, ER 2.0? I mean, it's set in an hospital in Chicago too, and it also airs on NBC...?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I hate medical dramas... so much.

    ReplyDelete
  22. I'll give Chicago Med a try.The other two is not my cup of tea.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Well they have gone full circle now. First it was Fire fighters in Chicago Fire then the police in Chicago PD and now the doctors come along. Dick Wolf just wants to create another franchise. like Law & Order.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Good to see Melissa George, Jamie Kennedy and Jaimie Alexander in regular roles on TV again

    ReplyDelete
  25. Hardly. As mentioned in the article, Sony is packaging it with Game of Silence and The Player. Which, everyone, saw coming being Sony.

There's no reason why there can't be three medical dramas... spread out through fall, midseason, and summer. Not to mention, Heartbreaker, was sold to France before TNS even began its run (and they weren't going to not produce something they received money for already) and CM operates in its own sphere.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The name "Blindspot" sounds like cancellation ahahah

    ReplyDelete
  27. Goodbye Revenge 😢 2011-2015May 1, 2015 at 10:50 PM

So These have been ordered to a series?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yes, Sony is trying to bundle all three per deadline

    ReplyDelete
  29. Only that this time all the characters interacting will have their own shows and have an organic flow. If you see a plice officer show up in hospital you can be pretty sure that you'll see that guy on Chicago PD.

Still waiting for Chicago Zombies, Chicago Hookers and Chicago Canines

    ReplyDelete
  30. Yes. Blindspot sounds really cool, but I am even more excited for Game of Silence

    ReplyDelete
  31. Goodbye Revenge 😢 2011-2015May 1, 2015 at 10:53 PM

I am scared to watch anything on NBC since all shows are cancelled

    ReplyDelete
  32. Those can come in 2017, first Chicago Plumbers have to get picked up, U can neither spin of Z or H without Plumbers. ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  33. Classic Sony, trying to get as many of their properties going.

I could Sony try to use some of its pilots to kickstart Crackle though, would be a good move with the age of Netflix being so hot right now

    ReplyDelete
  34. NBC...all Chicago all time time.

The obvious three got the pick up. I wonder if any other characters besides the obvious of Detective Halstead and Lieutenant Severide will show up in Med?

    ReplyDelete
  35. They are trying to throw in The Night Shift in the Sony deal, but as you brought up, it's complicated. NBC doesn't need three.

    ReplyDelete
  36. This year was specifically bad yes but I would argue that only makes things easier for next season's shows.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Right, plus someone needs to deal with all the sh*t so I vote for Chicago Cleaning Ladies to run hand in hand with plumbers.

I'm kinda loving this universe Dick Wolf has created, I just wish they would do that for a supernatural series now. Like World of Darkness, one show about vampires, another about werewolves, one about ghosts, one about witches and on and on....sigh...we were so close

    ReplyDelete
  38. Doubt it, I could see Crackle becoming the new home for one of their shows. With streaming services ruling right now it'd be stupid not to give their own streaming service some material

    ReplyDelete
  39. U mean Chicago Maids ( so it sounds more fancy).

I don't watch anything on NBC, I tried a couple of comedies this season but it didn't work out. But I'll try out Blindspot.

    ReplyDelete
  40. They are also creating another Chicago franchise about waste pickup workers called Chicago Trash

    ReplyDelete
  41. While it's certainly a network aimed at the older generation we can easily aim our focus on shows that sound like fitting the demo :)

    That being procedurals :P

    ReplyDelete
  42. I mean, I'm interested in the show, it's actually the only one between these 3 that I care about, but the name... idk, it's like "Allegiance", sounds like a cancelled show :/

    ReplyDelete
  43. still waiting for Chicago Hookers, Chicago Factory Workers, Chicago Office and Chicago Unemployed

    ReplyDelete
  44. Goodbye Revenge 😢 2011-2015May 1, 2015 at 11:00 PM

True. I was going to watch state of affairs, Allegiance and American oddysey and i did not watch any of them because they totally failed, Especially oddysey

    ReplyDelete
  45. Blindspot sounds interesting but do we really need 2 more medical shows....

    ReplyDelete
  46. Don't worry I see it, at least now I see it. I like the premise as well. Now I just need a solid trailer and I'm 100 % in.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Blindspot was one of the very few pilots from NBC that sounded good, so I'm thrilled about this. Love me a good conspiracy series, and NBC has actually had several good ones these past two seasons, although they're all canceled (or in the case of AO, going to be).

Heartbreaker doesn't sound too good but I *LOVE* Melissa George and Dave Anabelle so I'll watch the pilot... maybe.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The only medical dramas on broadcast right now are Grey's Anatomy and The Night Shift, which may not even make it, so it isn't that much. The thing is that this year both CBS and NBC seem very high on medical dramas out of the sudden, so it looks like the volume will increase quite significantly out of the blue.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Blindspot *First Photo Jaime Alexander*

    ReplyDelete
  50. oh cool. Another year without having any shows that air on nbc.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Yep! CBS has a medical drama too.Whether or not they have room for it remains to be seen..

    ReplyDelete
  52. Blindspot sounds AMAZING.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think they will air it Tuesdays at 10.

    ReplyDelete
  54. yep, exactly! can be a great show

    ReplyDelete
  55. Yeah, exactly the same with me. All three!!

    ReplyDelete
  56. I agree, quite excited for the trailer

    ReplyDelete
  57. There are more pickups to come

    ReplyDelete
  58. Thank god! Finally someone has the balls to tell this story!!

    ReplyDelete
  59. U mean the CBS medical dramas? I got a feeling Code Black could go Sundays after TGW.

    ReplyDelete
  60. They'll have me as a viewer if they are able to revive Shay.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Excited for Blindspot. Waiting for Game of Silence and The Player. Nothing else interests me from NBC this year :D

    ReplyDelete
  62. Don't forget Chicago Prison. We only saw a glimpse of it in OITNB so I definitely need more.

    ReplyDelete
  63. It would be DOA there, that is no place to launch anything. Elementary or POI will go there to ride syndication and die.

    ReplyDelete
  64. yes,i know. maybe,i should of been more specific. what i meant was that i don't have any shows that i watch on NBC. each year,it's like that. in the past i watched both 'Up all night' & 'The New Normal' this year it's 'Marry Me' 'One big happy' 'About a boy' (which i stopped watching half way in season 2)

    ReplyDelete
  65. Blindspot might be good. The other two... meh

    ReplyDelete
  66. Yeah those are the three I want as well, especially Game of Silence

    ReplyDelete
  67. So THE PICK UPS and CANCELLATIONS should stop now, cause I'm going to sleep. Please I don't wanna wake up to a mess.

TBC in 6 and a half hours.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Blindspot sounds good even though it migtn be next season's Crisis/American Odyssey. Waiting for more pickups to follow.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I eventually could see it after Scorpion but seems like they are going for old skewing with Code Black, Supergirl is more likely to follow Scorpion.
Tuesday seems so vague but still those are 2 good lead ins for the show.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Yay Chicago med can't wait for more April sexton ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    ReplyDelete
  71. They will, there's no reason why NBC and Sony can't hammer out a deal. TNS isn't doing bad enough to not be serviceable somewhere and having Snipes on roster is too enticing for NBC to pass up. I do wonder though, if ownership percentages change, which one NBC wants... The Player (with Snipes' aforementioned return to TV) or Game of Silence (which has the most fan buzz of any NBC pilot). I'm willing to bet its Game of Silence.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Not too excited about all three of these.

    ReplyDelete
  73. As long as they pick up Game Of Silence!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Blindspot sounds intriguing. Heartbreaker really doesn't. And I'm very impartial to Chicago Med.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I think Limitless will follow Scorpion.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Excited for Chicago Med, but is Nick not staying on with the cast? His name wasn't listed. It'd be a real bummer if he wasn't, love bro Halstead, and he's a great window into Jay's past.

    ReplyDelete
  77. The Upfronts for NBC/Fox begin a week from Monday on May 11th !!!
    ( ABC - May 12th / CBS - May 13th / CW - May 14h )

    ReplyDelete
  78. Love the cast of Chicago Med, I will like that NBC try to do a good with Heartbreakers and I love the concept of Blindspot. Still waiting for Game of Silence and Endgame

    ReplyDelete
  79. All of this sounds pretty boring to me. Bleh!

    ReplyDelete
  80. They should be politically correct and rename "Blindspot" into "Visually impaired spot".

    ReplyDelete
  81. These sound interesting might check out Blindspot and Heartbreaker because I like the leads they cast hope they pick up Warrior though

    ReplyDelete
  82. Farewell Parks and RecMay 2, 2015 at 12:56 AM

Blindspot is either going to be a success like Blacklist or backfire like Odyssey, Crisis and Allegiance.

Heartbreaker is poor mans Chicago Med, I wouldn't be surprise if it gets a fall shot only to be replaced by midseason, just like Ironside-Chicago PD.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Farewell Parks and RecMay 2, 2015 at 12:57 AM

Which is why I'm rooting for Telenovela and Superstore.

I'm heavily biased towards workplace comedies, so, no surprise.

    ReplyDelete
  84. This is probably TOTAL NONSENSE but I looked at NBC Shows' twitters and found out that most of them are @NBC+name of the show (or words from the show's name). I looked up and found that already picked-up series such as Telenovela (@NBCTelenovela), Blindspot (@NBCBlindspot), Chicago Med (@NBCChicagoMed) and Heartbreaker (@NBCHeartbreaker) all have the same style of account. New private accounts with the traditional twitter egg. So I thought I could try to find some others, and some of them have the same style of accounts. Dramas found: The Player (@NBCThePlayer), Game of Silence (@NBCSilence) and Unveiled (@NBCUnveiled, though its twitter name is 'Angels Unveiled', which perfectly fits with its plot). Not found Curse of the Fuentes Women, Love Is a Four-Letter Word and Warrior (though @NBCWarrior is already taken, so it may have another twitter account). Comedies found: Cuckoo (@NBCCuckoo), Problem Child (@NBCProblemChild), Strange Calls (@NBCStrangeCalls), Superstore (@NBCSuperstore) and Take It From Us (@NBCTakeItFromUs, though irregular twitter name). Not found How We Live, Not Safe For Work and People Are Talking.

I really doubt this could be accurate, I guess we'll just have to wait.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Jean Paul (Alexi)May 2, 2015 at 1:37 AM

I'm very happy for these 3 orders 'cause they were among the Nbc drama pilots I hoped would be ordered (Game of Silence is the fourth), and each of them has an actor/actress I really like: Jamie Alexander (Blindspot), Oliver Platt (Chicago Med), Melissa George (Heartbreaker).
I can't wait to see the trailers :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. You do realize yesterday was the deadline for the Constantine writers to pitch the idea of S2 to NBC and i say by next week NBC will give their final verdict lol

    ReplyDelete
  87. Chicago Schools and School Buses lol

    ReplyDelete
  88. I do but I'm not getting my hopes up.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Heartbreaker doesn't really appeal to me but I'll wait for the trailer before I decide.

Definitely checking out Chicago Med and Blindspot. Never seen Chicago PD or Chicago Fire though so I will need to move them to the top of the Netflix pile for this summer.

    ReplyDelete
  90. i had hopes when i read they would bring the show to syfy but then it died when syfy denied it lol

    ReplyDelete
  91. Hopefully Blindspot is good.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Great detective work.

Strange Calls and Superstore are two comedy pilots high on NBC's list, so it's likely very accurate. Warrior has faded a bit, so it not being on the list isn't that surprising.

    ReplyDelete
  93. Warrior's twitter set-up is @WarriorNBC... I guess NBCWarrior must have been used or someone forgot the structure.

    ReplyDelete
  94. The executive producer of The Night Shift wrote this on his twitter account:

"Okay people. We need you all out in force for Monday night. Please watch and please tell your friends! Thank you."

This screams desperation. If they are included in any package deal, no one told the executive producer. My guess is NBC is likely to go with two medical dramas and The Night Shift is getting left out.

    ReplyDelete
  95. That looks bad. I still think it's firmly on the bubble though, as it depends on the negotiations with Sony. I think an uptick or so on Monday won't make any difference

    ReplyDelete
  96. If that's Gabe Sachs he's notoriously paranoid and continuously writing contradictory statements. I wouldn't put any stock into that as executive producers aren't told results until they are finalized.

    ReplyDelete
  97. It won't. One week never makes or breaks a show. However, it looks good in PR. He looks like the good guy who did everything he could to save the show if it's not included in the package deal. I've seen it with many shows. When executive producers beg for viewership, it usually is the first sign of cancellation.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I agree that it looks bad.

    ReplyDelete
  99. Farewell Parks and RecMay 2, 2015 at 5:27 AM

Melissa George's career is never going to take off, she is always leading DOA shows like The Slap and now Heartbreaker :(

    ReplyDelete
  100. Farewell Parks and RecMay 2, 2015 at 5:28 AM

They create twitter accounts for every show, then delete the ones that are not picked up.

You can see from old shows that their twitter registration date is april from the year they were picked, not may.

    ReplyDelete
  101. Wow, this is super cool! Very happy for the Chicago family...I wonder if they're going to try a 4 way crossover :S Will definitely be checking Blindspot out of Jaimie Alexander and while I don't like the sound of Heartbreaker, I love Melissa George so that'll be on my list too!

    ReplyDelete
  102. And so... it begins...

Happy for Blindspot, meh on the other two.

    ReplyDelete
  103. So it begins, and really early this time may I see.
Not sure if I am interested in any of these. But this pretty much means goodbye to The Night Shift. NBC is not going to have 3 medical dramas next season.

    ReplyDelete
  104. None of these appeal to me but then NBC has been turning into CBS in regards to its dramas for the past few years.

    ReplyDelete
  105. Really happy that Blindspot was ordered to series. Not sure if I'll watch Chicago Med, their appearance during the Chicago Fire episode didn't really impress me (I do like Will, Jay's brother. Not sure about the rest of the cast/characters) . I'll check the previews/featurettes when they come out and then decide later on if I'll watch the show or not.

    ReplyDelete
  106. yesssssssssss i was waiting for it. Mills is surely in. I don't like
him a lot but yea. Hope Dawson & Casey will make cameos. Now The Blacklist did one more step to cancellation :( All 3 shows are cool.

    ReplyDelete
  107. i really love workplace comedies... been expecting for some more for a long time now

    ReplyDelete
  108. Chicago Med - Yes, definitely (i even started Chicago PD recently because of ChM)

Blindspot - Depends on Trailer, but i think i will give it a chance

Heartbreaker - Depends on Trailer, but i think i will pass

    ReplyDelete
  109. Jean Paul (Alexi)May 2, 2015 at 11:57 AM

Sorry. It might not be nice to say, but I hope this time you'll be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  110. Chicago Med.... definitely, given the way Fire and PD are mixed even aside from special crossovers, no doubt Med will be the same and characters will be doing walk-ins back and forth.

Blindspot.... seems a mix of The Blacklist and John Doe, but I love Jaime Alexander so hell yeah.

Heartbreaker.... I like Melissa George but my instinct is to pass but I'll probably cave and give the first episode a look.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I love CF and CPD is a little meh for me so I'll give Chicago Med a try and hopefully it'll be better than CPD.
Blindspot sounds interesting and I love Greg's shows so I'll give it a try of course.
Heartbreaker: Didn't like the premise I even got bored and didn't finish reading it, pass.

    ReplyDelete
  112. Really happy about Blindspot for one particular reason: Sullivan Stapleton! I was hoping he would find work after Strike Back and this looks interesting. However, I don't get why they're adding 2 more medical shows, despite the Chicago Fire and P.D. connection, I don't intend to watch either one.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Stapleton was great in Strike Back, 300 was not really representative of what he can do.

    ReplyDelete
  114. Chicago Hookers would have to be on cable.

    ReplyDelete
  115. Supernatural tried, it's a shame it didn't work, I didn't think the backdoor pilot was so bad.

    ReplyDelete
  116. The name definitely sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  117. This reminds me of Prison Break. Only Wentworth Miller was more attractive.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Heartbreaker sounds like the most interesting because it's an interesting story and it's a true story.

    ReplyDelete
  119. I didn't like the backdoor pilot that much, it wasn't horrible but I'm not sad they didn't pick it up.

The show I was referring to was Kindred - The Embraced. A 90s vampire show based on the World of Darkness (a series featuring every kind of monster)

    ReplyDelete
  120. Well, NBC had me with Blacklist and Constantine. But since the network is aimed at an older demographic I'm not surprised our generation isn't too hot on its shows

    ReplyDelete
  121. Chicago Med.... I liked Chicago Fire, but they have those crossovers... then I started watching CPD. Now, I watch both but I don't really like anymore... So, they'll try to compel me to watch another show, it's not going to work. Not watching anymore. I really hope Forever is renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  122. I'm finding myself surprised to be drawn to some nbc and cbs pilots. Some for the plot, some for the major actor force.
But i was drawn to Elementary as well but out of nowhere it started to bore me and I dropped it after 4 season 2 eps.
We'll have to see. I'm waiting for the promos and critics to decied what I'll go for.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Didn't watch that but I'll give him a clean slate entering the show to see if he can take me to the dark side.

    ReplyDelete
  124. Blindspot seems to have a procedural element to it as opposed to Odyssey, Crisis and Allegiance which were pretty much completely serialized.

    ReplyDelete
  125. Telenovela is straight to series, so you should spend all your rooting for Superstore. I also want to see America Farerra on TV again.

    ReplyDelete
  126. They all try to copy Grey's Anatomy or ER to some extent.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Next in the "Chocago" franchise:
    Chicago Exterminators
    Chicago Animal Control

    ReplyDelete
  128. Farewell Parks and RecMay 3, 2015 at 2:24 AM

I know. I meant for a fall spot.

    ReplyDelete
  129. Perry will miss Revenge 😢May 3, 2015 at 2:43 AM

Some other good ideas for Chicago

    1.) Chicago Law
    2.) Chicago (something with politics)

    ReplyDelete
  130. How many episodes will they wait before making Agent Weller and 'Jane' and item as we all know you can't have a man and woman working together without there being sexual tension!

    ReplyDelete
  131. Resist the inner you. It does work. I only watch fire and nothing will make me watch PD. I have too many cop shows already. Fire was different as there is no other show about fire fighters on at the moment. I'm not going to watch Med as I did not like and Grey's is my medical show It would be a shame if you missed watching fire because you don't want to watch the other two. Even with the crossovers you don't have to watch the others, I didn't and I did not miss anything.

    ReplyDelete
  132. Blindspot sounds interesting. I'll pass on the other 2.
