Nashville‘s Eric Close, whose character was taken away in handcuffs at the end of the ABC drama’s third season, will not be a series regular in Season 4, TVLine has learned exclusively.
ABC declined to comment, but we’re hearing Close’s status change is part of a larger creative effort to place the focus of the show squarely on the music business.

So they got rid of a useless character that barely anyone liked.

ReplyDeleteThat was supposed to be Nashville since the start. They fact that in season 4 they finally realized what the real purpose of the show should be is exactly why the show is struggling in the ratings.
They really haven't known what to do with his character since he and Rayna got divorced.
ReplyDeleteNot surprising, his sl was the weakest part if the show
ReplyDeleteHis character felt like a filler anyways till the season 3 finale. Now he's not returning as a series regular good idea.
ReplyDeleteSo happy that he is leaving! When I saw this I thought Charles wouldn't be returning but luckily it wasn't him! So relieved!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a stupid question from my side but what about Oliver Hudson´s status as a regular?
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the headline, I though it was about him because he is in Scream Queens as a regular in the upcoming season?
Does anyone know?
Kinda saw it coming but there really isn't much for Teddy to do and season 3 he was useless and had no story. As much as I disliked Teddy I don't think there's anyway to use this character anymore they barely did in season 3. But, Eric is a good actor I wish him all the best.
ReplyDeleteI do wonder what this next season will be like if they're going to just involve the music business or do something more than that with the stories which were really badly written last season. Love this show but it needs a lot of changes if it wants to stick around. The ratings aren't good, they need something to boost ratings and they need to start with writing these characters better.
