I like Liv more than Tinkerbell. And they already have way too many characters on OUAT. The actress who plays Ruby doesn't have a show anymore the last I heard yet the writers didn't bring her back in.
Yay happy for Rob Thomas. Loved Veronica Mars so he can do no wrong in my book. The cast has great chemistry and the show is starting to find its grove so good job all round!!!!
One of the best new shows of the season so I am glad it's been doing so well comparatively in the ratings. Now will it debut in fall like I hope and send poorly faring shows to summer?
Let's take a moment to appreciate The CW as a network as it has basically renewed everything (with the exceptions of HoD and The Messengers). That's pretty big
Should've announced the episode order as well (including the episode orders for their other shows, I'm anxious to know how long Reign/TO/TVD/BatB/JtV are going to be. No way all of them return on a 22 basis)
Very possible but I'm thinking of when Pedowitz was first hired and he said one of his goals was to have year-round original programming. I think this might be his stab at it.
wow it really WAS a lock to get renewed AWESOMSAUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They have a deal with Netflix that expires at the end of the current season, through which Netflix pays a huge amount of money for their shows, especially if they reach Season 4. So yes, they have a huge influx in revenue which is justifying the mass renewals!
Bones is one of the biggest bubble shows of the season though, and the fates of the following and the mindy project have yet to be confirmed, so FOX still has some work to do!
They won't shuffle thier only award winning show-GG,Critic Choice nominee, possible Emmy contender,Peabody,AFI( or something like that) show off to summer, not to mention its great retrntion( only show with deccent retention.)
True that having it air in summer probably could be a good thing for the show, however if it is going to be a summer show that means we're going to have to wait litterally a year now for the next season.
If it does go to summer, it really will be hellatus again. Still if it means it can air more episodes, I can wait especially since it will give the writers more time to hammer out the season.
They're probably going to cut down the episode orders for a few of their shows. My guess would be Reign, TVD and The 100. With iZombie and the new shows remaining at 13 episode seasons.
Reign seems to the be the most likely to get a Summer move, the ratings aren't great at all. I think Gina R winning a Golden Globe, will keep it on the CWs fall schedule regardless. Shows that get awards typically are looked favorably upon by networks right?
Yeah, I just where you posted that.Did you edit it?or am I blind? I swear the first time I read it said " since janes ratings are steady, they can shove it to summer"
I thinkthe CW is an unusual case. Award-winniing shows have been schlepped off to bad nights before or even cancelled because of ratings but the CW needs all the good press it can get these days. I agree that JtV will stay a fall show and probably still on Mondays unless they only pick up one new show for fall.
Reign and The 100 are both vying for summer shows for me. I could see both going there and it would be a good move for the CW in my opinion. Reign will either be summer or Friday for sure. I doubt The 100 will debut in the fall but it could be midseason, again most likely on Friday unless a new show tanks.
Yep, which would still happen if it debuted midseason on Friday too. This is the #1 reason why I think The 100 is slightly more likely to be a summer show than Reign. It already has a shortened episode order and the producers want to keep it that way.
I cannot wait an entire year for s3 of The 100 considering it's been over for a couple months already. I hope it stays where it is.
If they need summer shows they could always renew The Messengers and give it a decent slot, and put it on Netflix early enough that people watch it. I know, I know, pipe dreams. *sigh*
Not surprised. . But I don't see the appeal. I gave it a chance, but it wasn't for me. Im guessing they move it from Tuesdays though. I want TO back on Tuesdays. They fit good there... I would like to see TO and Supernatural on Tuesdays. But the CW sucks so who knows.
Even the CW isn't so desperate as to renew The Messengers. It's bad enough they renewed almost all the low-rated shows they have. Fans can thank the affiliates and Netflix for that. I am actually excited if they are prusuing a sumemr schedule. It gives low rated shows another chance while still giving the CW room for new shows that will hopefully get the affiliates to stay on board. After all if the CW folds, then there's no The 100 anymore either and that would be a tragedy.
This was a no-brainer. I'm surprised the CW took this long to announce the show's renewal. It's the freshest and coolest show to hit the network in a long time.
Hasn't BatB gotten by with ratings that are pretty much just as bad? At least The Messengers is a unique concept for The CW. I know the subject matter has been covered often in cinema and on other networks but as far as I recall this is their only real "fantasy steeped in religious mythology" series. Supernatural comes close but blends such a number of religious mythos with their own rules, I find it hard to count it esp the past few seasons.
I know it's gonna get canceled but, it's just hard to accept since this was the show I've been most excited for since upfronts.
Rose McGiver was in the follow-up movie, Petals on the Wind, to be exact. Then she grew up to become Rachael Carpani in the last two installments, If There Be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday. :D
A lot of shows dabble in it but don't really commit, I suppose. NBC had Revelations in 2005, which I really loved. Earlier that year there was Point Pleasant. Great potential but according to creator Marti Noxon too much of a push to make it like The OC to really develop a mythology. Since then Supernatural kind of went into it with Sam being the Antichrist (a storyline they totally mishandled), other than those the last I recall is ABC's Miracles, also great. But Damien is coming later this year and I'm hoping between that and TM it's a sign that there's more shows in the genre to come. And while not a religious person I have to say it makes excellent fodder for entertainment, I've always enjoyed it for dark fantasy and horror.
Oh hell yes. I caught it right after it had been canceled, then a few months ago Google Play had a sale on it so I bought both seasons and rewatched it again. It had been several years, but I enjoyed it even more than the first time. Game of Thrones is the first time HBO has started to redeem itself in my eyes after that show, since it will undoubtedly get a real series finale and resolution and I have a thing for epic fantasy in any form.
So Dig. I have been considering buying the season on Google. It looks like it will either be completely up my alley or an utter disappointment. And I could never tell from the promos if it's supernatural-ish or one of those things that's vague on if something weird is happening or not. Mind clearing that up for me? Haha.
Jason Isaacs plays a FBI agent in Israel name Peter Connely. He gets drawn into a mystery after meeting a woman who reminds him of someone he's lost.
In Norway there is a Hisidic Jewish sect that births a pure red calf. They have a young man take the cow to Israel, Christopher Heyerdahl has a small role.
In New Mexico there is a religious sect trying to bring about the end of days. David Constabile and Lauren Ambrose have roles there.
All three plots start to merge and come together in a conspiracy that soem compare to Davinci Code, but I liken it more to Revelations.
Well, shit. I'm gonna buy the season right now. That sounds like I'll love it. Did you watch Zero Hour? A little cheesy but I enjoyed it, and enough resolution to satisfy me.
I saw the first couple episodes but gave up when I knew it was cancelled or going to be... I meant to watch it after it ended, but never got around to it.
Was there pay off in the finale or was it kinda meh since it was never completed?
Oh the overall storyline is basically completely resolved. The intent was that if it came back for a season two, it would be a completely different story, same cast but they'd use the plot of them working at a tabloid as a kick off point for a new paranormal mystery every year. So the Nazi/clone/apocalypse stuff is wrapped up.
But the details are actually so fuzzy now that I think about it I am going to rewatch it soon. Makes a fun miniseries.
Though of another old CW/ WB religious drama from I think 199 maybe? Brimstone. It had Peter Horton and John Glover. Cancelled after a dozen or so episodes, but if I recall I liked it. May need to check that one out again myself. Don't recall a great deal about it other than basic premise....
Ha! More irony. I'm actually watching that show now. It was on Fox, Fridays. Speaking of, Millennium, another show that kinda dabbled in religious themes.
YES!!!! I mean, it pretty much earned it by now, so it'd be surprising if they hadn't picked it up, but still - yay. This show has been so fun, and it's one less show to worry about during sweeps.
This is what I'm saying. I mean, I know what'll be on at 8 on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, fall and spring, but other than that? There are no guarantees. It's going to be so fun. And the arguing over whatever they decide will be so intense, no matter what it is they end up doing. Wheeeee ...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
YAY!! Rose McIver is awesome :)
ReplyDeleteNo surprise here.Congrats fans!
ReplyDeleteYes !!!!
ReplyDeleteVery happy to hear this. :)
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES YES
ReplyDeleteNow if they pick up Cheerleader Death Squad i will love them as much as i can
ReplyDeleteThere goes any chance of Tinkerbell showing up on OUAT again. Shame since I really like Rose McIver.
ReplyDeletethe start of network renew is coming....
ReplyDeleteyaaaaas
ReplyDeleteNo surprise!! Good for the fana, i will give a try during summer!!
ReplyDeleteThe only downside to this is again Tinkerbell won't be won't be in OuaT next season.
ReplyDeleteYes. I love it.
ReplyDeleteSO HAPPY RIGHT NOW!!!!
ReplyDeleteYay! I need to catch up, but I'm very happy.
ReplyDeleteI want so much more. Bring it!
ReplyDeleteSo much love for CW right now <3
ReplyDeleteAbout time they renewed it.
ReplyDeleteNo surprises tehre. Question is how will it do once it gets move from The Flash
ReplyDeleteIn the words of Lowell last week: Awesome sauce!! Can't wait for more Liv/Ravi adventures in season 2 :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so so so happy for this :D
ReplyDeleteExpected, but still, yay!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't a fan of iZombie but I would have liked her on OUAT as Hook's friend.
ReplyDeleteI guessing season 2 will be more serialized? less case of the week and more longer story arc....with zombies around
ReplyDeleteI like Liv more than Tinkerbell. And they already have way too many characters on OUAT. The actress who plays Ruby doesn't have a show anymore the last I heard yet the writers didn't bring her back in.
ReplyDeleteObvious ones always come first. At least it begun.
ReplyDeleteYh I thought that was so strange, they brought her back for like 5 seconds in 3B and then she was gone again. Ruby is one my favourites.
ReplyDeleteMine too.
ReplyDeleteSooo happy!
ReplyDeleteI expecting more renews today especially the ones that are lock
ReplyDeleteNot surprised it was the best new show on the cw behind The Flash
ReplyDeleteI was expecting some announcements from FOX at least, guess not.
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise and glad to see it happen. Certainly worth a renewal thanks to being able to stand on its own two feet
ReplyDeletethere still time but maybe tomorrow or friday or saturday or next week
ReplyDeleteIM SO HAPPY
ReplyDeleteSo happy.
ReplyDeleteBTW CW usually announces renewals and pick-ups together, right? So can we expect them soon? It is 1AM here but i don't want to go to sleep and miss it
ReplyDeleteZombified Power Fairy Incestuous Ranger lives on!
ReplyDeleteYay happy for Rob Thomas. Loved Veronica Mars so he can do no wrong in my book. The cast has great chemistry and the show is starting to find its grove so good job all round!!!!
ReplyDeletethey need to promote bradley James to regular
ReplyDeleteThe last renewal of The CW has come
ReplyDeleteNo surprise here, but still YAY!!!
ReplyDeleteThe CW's schedule is going to be mayhem next year. I can't wait until their upfronts!
ReplyDeleteBradley James has an upcoming show to lead on A&E later this year, Damien.
ReplyDeleteSo happy about this.
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be a fun night. Let the renewals/pick ups storm begins.
well NBC and The CW and Fox for the most part has renew all their returning and new show. It only CBS and ABC that has not yet renew their shows
ReplyDeleteAnd I watch shows on both. Right now I'm really worried about the Middle.
ReplyDeleteYASSSS
ReplyDeleteNow please announce the pickups CW!
Yes! So glad to hear it. It has tons of potential, the cast is great, and that means more David Anders on my screen so that is brilliant.
ReplyDeleteOne of the best new shows of the season so I am glad it's been doing so well comparatively in the ratings. Now will it debut in fall like I hope and send poorly faring shows to summer?
ReplyDeleteThey were both grossly underused. They deserve better -- like on iZombie!
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I AM FREAKING OUT THANKS CW, I LOVE YOU.
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I still have to catch up but I love what I've seen til now.
ReplyDeleteZombie Like!
ReplyDeleteIt probably be midseason again with 13 episode. What failing show currently on The CW that could be sent to summer?
ReplyDeleteLet's take a moment to appreciate The CW as a network as it has basically renewed everything (with the exceptions of HoD and The Messengers). That's pretty big
ReplyDeleteI think there schedule will be the most fun, giving how many shows have to go to summer now.
ReplyDeleteI Love You, CW
ReplyDeleteI Love You, Rose Mclver
I Love You , IZOMBIE <3
Excellent news. It's my best "feel good" show in a while. Every week I can count on iZombie to relax, and have a great time.
ReplyDeleteBatB, Reign, sadly The 100, and before the Critics Choice nominees I would have said Jane the Virgin, but that is now likely to stay during the week.
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome news. Did not expect these news until next week so this is a very nice early surprise on that preemption ratings today
ReplyDeletei hope the blu ray cover for season 1 will be your signature picture. That is one awesome tasty picture ;)
ReplyDeleteYAAAASSSS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteShould've announced the episode order as well (including the episode orders for their other shows, I'm anxious to know how long Reign/TO/TVD/BatB/JtV are going to be. No way all of them return on a 22 basis)
ReplyDeleteNo surprise... Next! ABC!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks :)
ReplyDeleteI just love this cast, Rahul Kohli already posted video thanking fans :)
ReplyDeleteAnd rename it: Totally Spies. :D
ReplyDeleteOmgggg yay. :) We really need to add some characters from the comic book to make this show better. Like the wereterrior.
ReplyDeleteRumors that the series would be a flop, only rumors even.
ReplyDeleteTBH i wouldn't even mind. I used to watch a few episodes back when the show came out
ReplyDeleteYes yes. cheerleader death squad. :) and cordon too.
ReplyDeleteThose are my 2 picks too, but Cordon is a sure thing so i don't have to stress about it
ReplyDeleteGreat news even if expected!
ReplyDeleteLooking for that press release what will they say. :D
ReplyDeleteDont discount multiple shows doing 13-16 episodes and time sharing the same slot, fall/spring.
ReplyDeleteVery possible but I'm thinking of when Pedowitz was first hired and he said one of his goals was to have year-round original programming. I think this might be his stab at it.
ReplyDeleteWe should know soon
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Question did CW get a huge influx in revenue or budget because shit they've renewed a massive quantity of shows compared to usual.
ReplyDeleteAnd the golden globe nom and win. That show is doing well which pleases me to no end.
ReplyDeleteShocker!
ReplyDeleteYay!!! Such a great show. I love every character.
ReplyDeleteYes his and Liv's dynamic is one of the reasons why I tune in. I hope his new show won't take him away from this show.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I'm hoping for. The brain/personality and death of the week is getting old.
ReplyDeletewow it really WAS a lock to get renewed AWESOMSAUCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletewhy incestuous?
ReplyDeleteapparently not really, i heard that the ratings were pretty strong to earn this
ReplyDeleteWe can thank Netflix.
ReplyDeleteThey have a deal with Netflix that expires at the end of the current season, through which Netflix pays a huge amount of money for their shows, especially if they reach Season 4. So yes, they have a huge influx in revenue which is justifying the mass renewals!
ReplyDeleteYep, so they can't schlep it off to summer no matter what the ratings are.
ReplyDeleteSadly, the "poorly faring show" demoted to summer will be the 100 I believe.
ReplyDeleteBones is one of the biggest bubble shows of the season though, and the fates of the following and the mindy project have yet to be confirmed, so FOX still has some work to do!
ReplyDeleteLol these days are awful, I never want to miss anything
ReplyDeleteMaybe the bones negotiation with the actors or the mindy project license fee negotiation are legitimately holding them down.
ReplyDeleteHell yes!!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much for the explanation :) Was wondering why.
ReplyDeleteThey won't shuffle thier only award winning show-GG,Critic Choice nominee, possible Emmy contender,Peabody,AFI( or something like that) show off to summer, not to mention its great retrntion( only show with deccent retention.)
ReplyDeleteShe was on the Flowers in the Attic lifetime movie. Her character falls in love and marries her own brother.
ReplyDeleteI think he was probably being sarcasic.
ReplyDeleteGood show with an appealing cast (McIver is terrific). The only negative is the case of the week part of the show does not always hold my interest.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I think too but it might actually allow it to stay on air for a 4th season this way. It could be a blessing.
ReplyDeleteiRenewed
ReplyDeleteThe CW must be laughing all the way to the bank at anyone willing to pay for Reign given its recent 0.3 18-49 rating.
ReplyDeleteTrue that having it air in summer probably could be a good thing for the show, however if it is going to be a summer show that means we're going to have to wait litterally a year now for the next season.
ReplyDeleteExactly what I was saying except that retention means nothing. If it were following a highly rated show it wouldn't have great retention.
ReplyDeleteNah, they're going to renew Famous in 12 for a 1 episode order, retitled as Famous in 1. ;)
ReplyDeleteThey probably won't.
ReplyDeleteIf it does go to summer, it really will be hellatus again. Still if it means it can air more episodes, I can wait especially since it will give the writers more time to hammer out the season.
ReplyDeleteWeren't you saying Jane would move to summer cause it's ratings would be steady no matter where cw put it?
ReplyDeleteThey definitely won't. Too much good press for this little network.
ReplyDeleteYAY!!!
ReplyDeleteNot surprised, but still... YAY!!!!
They're probably going to cut down the episode orders for a few of their shows.
ReplyDeleteMy guess would be Reign, TVD and The 100. With iZombie and the new shows remaining at 13 episode seasons.
Janes more likely to be moved to Fridays than Summer imo. It'll get a 22 episode Season 2.
ReplyDeleteNope. I'm saying that it will not move to summer despite poor ratings because of the critical acclaim it is getting.
ReplyDeleteYAY YAY YAY
ReplyDeleteOne of the most funny shows on my tv right now
ReplyDeleteRight now I doubt that it moves at all. I also think it will get 22 episodes. If Reign doesn't go to summer, I see it moving to Fridays.
ReplyDeleteLiterally my favorite show on tv right now, besides The Mindy project.
ReplyDeleteYou go, CW!!!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for more!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteReign seems to the be the most likely to get a Summer move, the ratings aren't great at all. I think Gina R winning a Golden Globe, will keep it on the CWs fall schedule regardless. Shows that get awards typically are looked favorably upon by networks right?
ReplyDeleteYeah, I just where you posted that.Did you edit it?or am I blind? I swear the first time I read it said " since janes ratings are steady, they can shove it to summer"
ReplyDeleteNope, I didn't say that at all. Maybe somewhere else here. The Critics Choice nomination solidified it as a weekday (not Friday) fall show for me.
ReplyDeleteI thinkthe CW is an unusual case. Award-winniing shows have been schlepped off to bad nights before or even cancelled because of ratings but the CW needs all the good press it can get these days. I doubt The 100 will debut in the fall but it could be midseason, again most likely on Friday unless a new show tanks.
It was still strong when The Flash was a repeat so I'm guessing just fine.
ReplyDeleteGreat point, would that mean Reign would get a reduced episode order if it airs in the Summer?
ReplyDeleteYep, which would still happen if it debuted midseason on Friday too. This is the #1 reason why I think The 100 is slightly more likely to be a summer show than Reign. It already has a shortened episode order and the producers want to keep it that way.
ReplyDeleteYes I know.
ReplyDeleteAndmore supernatural creatures please
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Cast and Crew! Well deserved!!!
ReplyDeleteHow is it a shame tho? Both shows literally film in Canada lol Besides pretty sure both shows film different times
ReplyDeleteTrue
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait an entire year for s3 of The 100 considering it's been over for a couple months already. I hope it stays where it is.
ReplyDeleteIf they need summer shows they could always renew The Messengers and give it a decent slot, and put it on Netflix early enough that people watch it. I know, I know, pipe dreams. *sigh*

ReplyDeleteI know it's gonna get canceled but, it's just hard to accept since this was the show I've been most excited for since upfronts.
I don't recall too many religion themed shows, no.
ReplyDeleteThere was that movie turned mini-series with Paul Wesley and Bryan Cranston 7 or so years ago called "Fallen".
Rose McGiver was in the follow-up movie, Petals on the Wind, to be exact. Then she grew up to become Rachael Carpani in the last two installments, If There Be Thorns and Seeds of Yesterday. :D

ReplyDeleteDid you watch Carnivale back when it was on HBO? had a lot f religious overtones, but sadly it was cancelled after 2 seasons.. basically after Act I.
ReplyDeleteDig on USA network has been pretty good.
Like you said though, most dabble in it without going too deep.
Oh hell yes. I caught it right after it had been canceled, then a few months ago Google Play had a sale on it so I bought both seasons and rewatched it again. ReplyDeleteOh that's right:)
ReplyDeleteIs that press release going to be added or has it not been yet released?
ReplyDeleteI will not acknowledge Fox's so called cancellation of The Mindy Project. As far as I am concerned we are simply on summer hiatus.
ReplyDelete
