Wow how convenient she eats the brains of someone who drinks. This is her mourning the death of her zombie boyfriend :'( I HOPE HE COMES BACK IDK UGHHH DENY DENY DENY
time to get this show an end game, yes she is a zombie but to what end; there is no urgency to the character hence no reason to tune in each week. The Rage thing is not urgent, Blaine is not urgent, Utopia is not urgent and Liv it would seem will just go week to week doing nothing important. If killing Lowell was supposed to cause incentive, not seeing it. This is beginning to feel like Buffy the vampire slayer minus the slaying of vampires. Give live some reason to get up in the morning and want to kill, or solve the formula problem. Give Ravi and Clyde the same. This show looks like it could be much more than it has become so far, but it need the feeling of an end game and a reason to band together against a great something or another. BTW not enough full on Zombie mode.
So impending zombie apocalypse isn't enough of a motivation for you?
Liv needs another, better reason to get up in the morning than helping people who have been murdered and trying to find her way back to having a life even though she's been turned into a zombie?
What is it you are looking for? We have a bad guy. We have a massive epidemic just starting to become extremely dangerous and apparent. We have kids going missing and a police cover up. And a case of the week to help Liv learn how to be a well-rounded person character-growth-wise and fill up the plot space. Killing Lowell wasn't supposed to be an incentive. Killing Lowell was upping the stakes of Blaine. Before to Liv, Blaine was a loser drug dealer. Now, she's realized that he is a mass murderer turning people into zombies for profit who is legit dangerous to humans and zombies alike. He's a serious threat. The next step is to realize how extensive the zombie outbreak has become. Then it is a rush to both stop the spread, feed the zombies and find a cure. Plus, the bigger conspiracy of utopium and max rager turning people into zombies in the first place. Blaine is small potatoes, he didn't start it he is just capitalizing on it.
No idea which Rat survived so no idea whether it is Max Rager or Utopium that is essentially to blame. Blaine was accused of cutting his Utopium different and Lowell and Liv were both scratched by Blaine but Blaine was at the Max Rager boat party so Is this The energy drink, the drug , Blaine or all of the above?
For weeks now Liv has ignored her condition letting Ravi look for the cure while she munches down on non threatening brains, allowing Major to get the crap kicked out of him because his friends keep turning up on Blaine's menu.Bumping into Lowell should have been a tip off that she will not be the only Blaine victim and that he is most likely patient x, the host zombie. Amazingly she has not followed him until last night. It has not cost her until last night.
Still no urgency, knowing that there is a catering service for Zombies, knowing that all these missing bodies relate to portions of brains served it does not turn this into a quest. Knowing the Msjr is most likely going to turn up missing soon as well has no impact on her or Ravi. The show spin calls it a zombie apocalypse but the show is treating it like nothing big as the next episode is about Drunk Liv, like Sexy Liv, Stupid Liv, Hooker Liv, or Kung Fu Liv, all temporary tales leading to no building process. If you miss an episode it will not punish you. Why? because the so called apocalypse is no time soon, the killing is not that threatening and Liv is already dead so how much worse can she get?
That is something missing that feeling of impending worse as in she does not rot, she does not stink, she can still have sex and have relationships and come episode after next that looks to be more of the same. No one is chasing her, no one is threatening her, her world is relatively calm. That has to change or you might as well do your laundry and dvr the show or watch it on line at your convenience. The show needs urgency to keep ratings high.
mmm i'm not sure i'd enjoy that extent of 'urgency'. i like the story ark moving slowly in the background while Liv tries to help as many people as she can using her 'condition' for good instead of being a cliche zombie. the not urgently moving overall story ark allows us to get to know the characters in their every day lives as well as following them through the great end quest. (ps also, within that frame, every single, ncis, csi, criminal minds, etc etc show shouldn't exist at all)
Those show are designed to be who dun its And as I looked recently they are dying off as they do not keep an audience coming back weekly. Let's face it it has been 20 years since the OJ Simpson case and the desire for who done its and police/lawyer shows is coming to a close. Fantasy is in right now and Izombie comes in on the fringe of fantasy/ comic book fun. Of course the people could turn on NCIS if you would prefer that is the show on another channel or they could do I suggest and gear things up a bit more like the Flash or Arrow and trying and maintain the tempo so people do not change channels. And as far as set up is concerned, the show intro is a in case you did not see this show this is who Liv is moment that helps you pick up the show as though you never saw it before. That too will have to be rethought as a year down the way who will really care about the pilot episode? They want to know did Blaine get shot, if not why not? They want to feel like if time has passed it was not unnoticed. You argue otherwise but even on the whodunnits they will run the two parter or the crossovers or the return visitor to build urgency for sweeps. Do it your way and watch the show die as word of mouth becomes mighty thin when telling someone else why to watch the next episode.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
She's not coping very well is she...?

ReplyDeleteDrunk Liv! This should be fun but it's most likely going to be her grieving over the fact that Lowell is most likely gone :(
ReplyDeleteWhy did Bradley James have to be cast in "Damien"?!!!!! he was supposed to become a regular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't wait for this next episode.
ReplyDeleteI am very curious what will come in next episodes/seasons.
