I give them credit, it looks like Heroes. If I saw the poster and someone asked me, which show is this, Heroes comes to mind. So they stayed true to the original impression of the series.
With this show, it will be hugely sampled the first week. The question is if they will stick around.
I don't know. Heroes Reborn hasn't come out yet so it's hard to say if you need to watch the original series (as we don't know what's in the new series yet). I'd be surprised if the new show didn't have some kind of catch up thing, or reintroduce stuff for new viewers. My guess is that there will be nods to the original show, but if you haven't seen the original show you just won't notice them.
I think anything major you'd need to know will be explained, I hope it is anyway because no matter how many times or hard I try, I just cannot get through season 4 of Heroes, I still haven't finished it lol.
As Ross said, no one actually knows for sure but I don't think you will need to. The two returning characters which are returning as series regulars had roles that can fall into the "set up" of this world, if I can put it like this. You will probably need to know that set up (which I am sure they will explain anyway) but maybe you won't actually need most of their personal stories. I also agree with Ross that probably they will throw us some bones here and there but that if you haven't watched you won't even notice but won't be bothered by them either.
In any case, I would strongly recommend you watching Season 1. It is a mind blowingly good season and it introduces the entire concept of the universe in which this will take place. Also, honestly, if they do require you to have prior knowledge, I very much doubt it is from the subsequent seasons since so few people stuck with them and it was such a big mess.
It'll probably be like how 24: L.A.D. was where you don't need to have watched the original series to understand it, but if you have watched it that will add to the overall exerience and give added background info.
If they can be as great as the first season, it will be great. If not, oh well. This doesn't look interesting at all though. But it's early, so let's just wait a little.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
my excitement just got dampened a little bit.
ReplyDeleteThe poster is ugly.
ReplyDeleteZachary Levi is going to play a bad guy. Looks like Sarah never regained her memories and Chuck went mad. ;) :)
ReplyDeleteHopefully with these being released, the trailer from the upfronts the other day is also on the way.
ReplyDeleteYeah it's like it can't make up it's mind if it wants to be one of those 3d pictures or not. lol.

Looks interesting. I'll try to watch all the seasons during the summer.
ReplyDeleteThat's great and everything, but they need to release the dark and incredible trailer from the upfronts that I've been hearing all about.
ReplyDeleteI will wait for the trailer to make an impression of the show but love the new logo.
ReplyDeleteI think I asked this before but I really don't remember so I'll ask again. Do I need to watch the original series to understand what's happening?

ReplyDeleteI see. Maybe the trailer will explain that. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously NBC, why no trailer when we know there is one??

ReplyDeleteDo what I did when Season 4 was airing at the time: After 4x03, I skipped pretty much the entirety of the season except for the finale.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but the Lost one was WAY better.
ReplyDeleteLol not a bad idea, and were still able to follow what was happening?
ReplyDeleteNot sure about this "reborn", I know i will miss the original cast.. =(
ReplyDeleteYep.
ReplyDeleteLooks like behind-the-scenes photos from the promo shoot - not official character photos.
Thank you so much guys. Maybe I'll add season 1 to my hiatus watch list just to be familiar with the universe.
ReplyDeleteFirst thing I thought when I see it.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! We just need to see that promo! Come on NBC! GIVE IT TO US!!!

ReplyDeleteWhen I returned for the finale, I was surprised they were still doing the carnival arc so I thought that I probably didn't miss much.

MORBID! but LOL, part of me doesn't want to see it because i don't want to see him play a Big Bad but i love Zachary Levi and i HAVE to see it.
ReplyDeleteYeah i didn't see the original 24 but by about the third episode i was practically caught up.
ReplyDeleteSince they seem to be doing another Dark Future those episodes could help you in knowing what the world will be like.
ReplyDeleteALL of them or just the ones you loved?
ReplyDeleteHey that girl has Hiro's sword!
ReplyDeleteYEs
ReplyDeleteIs she a secret Nakamura? LOL
ReplyDeleteOh i was just kidding, you really think she's a Nakamura?
