Since we knew this news Back in March, lets get on with deciding the 47 other show's fates please-these are how the totals add up ABC-19 CBS-13 CW-The Messengers (although we might not get this one this week due to it continuting into the summer.) FOX-5 NBC-9
HOD was the definition of an underdog. It survived the first season against DWTS and The Voice with a horrible Gossip Girl lead in and beat Ringer and Secret Circle (RIP) for renewal. Then it survived on Tuesdays against DWTS, Voice and NCIS by self starting, then it moved back to Mondays and self started against DWTS and Voice with a horrible lead out of BATB and it never went below a million viewers until it moved to Fridays, and even there it did pretty good.
I never watched the show but from what I gathered it always seemed like a nice little series and it got a lovely series finale apparently so well done HOD for lasting as long as you did. Sometimes nice and comforting is needed.
I started watching it knowing full well it will get axed,so no regrets from my end.I'll watch it till the end.BTW,It just got cancelled according to Buzzfeed.
My heart just skipped a beat. That is terrible! A show with so many potential! I knew it wouldn't survive S01 as soon as the timeslot was announced but still I attach to easily. Especially to underdogs.
Speaking of which, did you notice that TVBTN trashed the comment sections in the Renew/Cancel section? That kills the week long exchanges of comments about programs that many of us participated in for years. My reaction to that move in unprintable.
Yeah I did.At first I wasn't sure if it was my iPad having a problem.Im sure the comment section will be back shortly for the latest cancellation/renewal and pick up and schedule news
It really tried to emulate the old WB feel, of the Everwood and Gilmore Girls era. It wasn't 100% successful in the endeavor, but the effort was genuine and it showed. And in the end it was more often than not very cute and endearing...
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Took them long enough.
ReplyDeleteSad, i love the show so much. But it had perfect ending and i feel like it was time for it to say goodbye.
ReplyDeleteThanks for 4 amazing seasons
R.I.P Dixie, you will be missed. It had one of the most satisfying series finale IMO.
ReplyDeleteYou deserved better!
Finally the reveal this
ReplyDeleteWhy did they wait so long to tell us when we already knew I don't get it
ReplyDeleteI like the show too but the CW dragged this so much when it was obvious that I don't think anyone will truly feel saddened at this point
ReplyDeleteSurprising news of the century! CW really knows how to keep us in suspense. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI'll always remember this show as a joyful ride and a show that provided me laughter, heartache when I had a tough time.
ReplyDeleteHopefully pick-ups coming soon. I need them to confirm pick up of Cheerleader Death Squad
ReplyDeleteWhat was the point to wait several months to announce it?
ReplyDeleteSo they basically denied that it was cancelled, when it was obvious that it was, just to cancel it later... CW logic lol
ReplyDeleteSo that they could bury the cancellation with all their other network news.
ReplyDeleteYup. Slightly off topic here but, when will we hear about Person of Interest etc? Been checking here ever half hour since 2:00 PM UK time.
ReplyDeleteI need Cordon only.
ReplyDeleteCBS will probably start on Saturday.
ReplyDeleteTook way too long to announce what the whole world already knew.
ReplyDeletewatching the finale tonight!
ReplyDeleteI don't watch the show but how was the rating?
ReplyDeleteExactly, it is quite ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteBetter not LOL! That cliffhanger has me checking almost every half hour since I watched it today lol
ReplyDeleteWhy did they deny it when the cast and crew said it was cancelled?
ReplyDeleteMillion dollar question!
ReplyDeleteNo surprise thought it was official already though lol

ReplyDeleteCW Logic-The biggest mystery of all!
ReplyDeleteNext up-The Messengers(So sad about this).
ReplyDeleteIn the next 36 hours most likely. U'll have to be patient.
ReplyDeleteIt will either move to Sunday or Friday though.
ReplyDeleteSince this is the first time since I am following these things so close that CBS didn't do mass renewal before, I do not know what to expect of them.
ReplyDeleteSo sad

ReplyDeleteWell done HOD, you had a great run!
Don't think it will happen this week. I hope they'll wait till June, but most likely it will be cancelled till the upfronts.
ReplyDeleteI meant in the sense it is only show left to cancel this season, whenever that may be.
ReplyDelete*slow Clap* R.I.P.
ReplyDeleteBetter than Reign, BATB...
ReplyDeleteOn a friday night!
ReplyDeleteI'm still sad to see the show go, but I'm glad the CW finally said something.
ReplyDeleteOhh that yes! Sadly yes.
ReplyDeleteI really started to get invested. I never should've watched it in the first place but I couldn't let it alone.
I never watched the show but from what I gathered it always seemed like a nice little series and it got a lovely series finale apparently so well done HOD for lasting as long as you did. Sometimes nice and comforting is needed.

ReplyDeleteWe knew that!!!! Would've loved a diffrenet news cause I loved the show!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's an accurate concise summary of HOD. It's basically a throwback to those 1950s small town themed shows like Mayberry RFD.
ReplyDeleteMy heart just skipped a beat. That is terrible! A show with so many potential!
ReplyDeleteI knew it wouldn't survive S01 as soon as the timeslot was announced but still I attach to easily. Especially to underdogs.
I barely paid any attention to the rating today, not that they matter much now.
ReplyDeleteYou will be missed HoD. R.I.P in peace.
ReplyDeleteSomeone on tvbtm also posted that Buzzfeeds Kate Auther says Messengers is cancelled too
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of which, did you notice that TVBTN trashed the comment sections in the Renew/Cancel section? That kills the week long exchanges of comments about programs that many of us participated in for years. My reaction to that move in unprintable.
ReplyDeleteI read over at TV by the numbers that The Messengers was cancelled too.
ReplyDeleteScrap my last comment about The Messengers-it has just been cancelled after 4 episodes.
ReplyDeleteYeah I did.At first I wasn't sure if it was my iPad having a problem.Im sure the comment section will be back shortly for the latest cancellation/renewal and pick up and schedule news
ReplyDeleteI'm really beginning to enjoy spending more time on STV though. There's a lot more going on here.
ReplyDeleteSo sad, was kinda holding hope out there. :'(
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna miss Dixie
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
ReplyDeleteI still had hope that they will change their mind :(
if one show was doing good on fridays was this one.
ReplyDeleteHart of Dixie is that show that could be placed somewhere between Everwood and Gilmore Girls. Oh, how I miss them..
ReplyDeleteWell that's something we've known pretty much since the end of the S4 premiere...
ReplyDeleteIt really tried to emulate the old WB feel, of the Everwood and Gilmore Girls era. It wasn't 100% successful in the endeavor, but the effort was genuine and it showed. And in the end it was more often than not very cute and endearing...
ReplyDeleteit still sucks, it would've been great to see Zoe and Wade as a married couple and parents, we still need their son's name
ReplyDelete
