No it is a bit pragmatist. Doctors and EMTs are no where near the same. The idea of a first responder is that the person be closer to a soldier or policeman or firefighter than a doctor. It is like Aristotle's views on women in the military, if you are physically the best qualified then you should be the person in that position. In practice it is harder for a woman to be a first responder than a man primarily as I have already stated because of the strength requirements. What I see in the photos are 4 petite females going into a disaster area which includes a crushed car, much like Derek's and no sort of sterile area to operate in. I can assume brain and heart surgery are out of the question. That leaves trauma. So Maggie and Amy should not be there. Meredith is a liability meantally and physically speaking and that leave April running the show with no way of lifting or turning the patient, no way to stabilize or transport the patient except the EMTs and Rescue personnel on sight. In past seasons they would have sent George, or Alex or Mark, or Derek with the girls to facilitate the extraction process. They will not be perfect but the fact is they will be more effective. Last week Derek reaches in and cuts away a girl, pulls out and removes a woman and then lifts an walks a man to safety in that car crash. Imagine it was Meredith. Could she reach the girl? No Could she pull out the woman? No. Could she have lifted and walked that man fast enough? Not likely. The last trauma she went on she all but drowned. Maggie is the strongest of the three and I would not think she could replace a trained RN or PCT in such maneuvers. I would keep them all at the hospital and send Residents or Nurses as it makes more sense to keep your best where they can do their best and not send them out where they might become a patient. BTW Derek mess up in saving the lives he did, in not removing the keys from the cars first and in not getting the people further away from the cars second. He was lucky the cars did not explode with people in them break thing and moving things with the key still in the ignition and gas still in the tanks. Been there and done this and you remove the key to hopefully avoid the explosions.
Oh so you are the illiterate new person who wrote the script, good to know. All that was said in clip was "You must be the surgeons for Seattle Grey Hospital"... Wow how you took that to mean they were specifically needed tells me you will have a lengthy career. And if you are at the scene of the accident helping out you best be a first responder of you are simply in the way.
Yeah agreed. Cuz they really need male Jackson the plastic surgeon at a scene like that! And Karev is spefic to babies. Not every speciality is needed. Makes sense to me. It's a tv show. There are more female characters than male.
The only reason there are more women than men on the show is cause they keep killing off the male cast; and how do they kill them? in big accidents like this.
But lets look back:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPxLK65GxQo
Sure looks like Hackson and Owen in the Bus.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WZjpYU9W3c
what were you saying about Karev?
and yes they did send the interns once
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GroGEuKnvCs
but apparently no one else commenting ever watched the show to notice that you never see all the surgeons being women.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
4 doctors at an emergency, all women, not happening.
ReplyDeleteWell isn't that a bit sexist...
ReplyDeleteYeah... I'm kinda over Shonda's big disaster/events/shockers/whatnots...

ReplyDeleteThe person lables me twice and then finds me disrespectful for pointing out they can not read what is written. Ha ha ha ha....Bye Bye

Surprise it is unusual.
