True. At the same time, when your hubby has a sister who lives in the same city, works in the same hospital and happens to be a neurosurgeon of near-equivalent skill, maybe a MMS text might have been kosher. However, it was ultimately Mer's call as the spouse.
He was already brain dead when she got there,. So honestly what could she have really done,. The love of her life was laying there dead, and and her children were in the waiting area,. I would not have called his sister either. But I do get your point I really do
Valid question hey..because they've gone from Derek dying, too 9 months pass and Amelia and mer are in the house together being a family too now Amelia angry with mer. Is fair enough Amelia is upset, just feels like a weird jump.
As someone who has literally lived both sides of this at different times in my life (having to make the call to terminate life support AND being robbed of the chance to say goodbye), I can tell you that Amelia has all the right in the world to rage at Meredith if she wants to.
Well I think Amelia recognizes that Meredith and her nieces and nephew need her right now so she's hardly going to just bail on them in their time of need. That said, Meredith ran away and just got back and Amelia is only now feeling the loss she spent months dissociating herself from. So I think there really hasn't been an opportunity for them to have it out over this. At least that was my impression of the situation.
I totally agree with that! I fully thought Mer should have had him taken to his hospital with his people to have the machine off and to be at rest. They seemed happy in the last ep though?
I agree with Amelia that Meredith should have called Derek's family or at least Amelia before she pulled the plug. She deserved to say goodbye to her brother.
Maybe, I just can't stand her character. I'm sick of seeing Derek's death through her perspective. The actress is just awful and it's really detracting from the show for me this season (this is just my opinion, obviously). In 11 years there have been a lot of characters I dislike, but none who genuinely bored me and made me dread scenes. Having Meredith disappear for the majority of last night's episode and putting so much focus on Amelia again was incredibly annoying and unsatisfying. Grey's fans have followed Meredith and Derek for 11 seasons, Amelia just showed up last year. She's overtaken this season.
I don't mind them addressing this but I hope they patch things up. One of my favorite scenes from last night's episode was them together at the house in the end. In a way, I feel that Amelia remaining a big part of that family honors Derek and makes him present there. But I think this conflict is realistic so I don't mind them portraying it, though I hope they move past it.
That combined with Meredith taking the kids and leaving was probably what made it possible for Amelia to dissociate for as long as she did. She was able to sort of pretend her brother was "away" rather than being forced to deal with the profound loss head-on from the beginning.
When exactly would Amelia have had the opportunity to confront Meredith? She took off with the kids right after the funeral. And I hardly think Amelia would confront Meredith in front of the children. Plus Amelia spent most of that year dissociating. She's only now letting the grief in.
To the person who only had the last show to go on this is a recovering drug addict challenging the recently pregnant wife of negligence in turning off life support after Derek had suffered severe blood loss for hours and was declared brain dead b three other physicians, and need I point out Amelia has no privileges at that hospital and would never have been allowed to operate on a family member. Oh but she could have saved him. This is all about not telling Amelia in person Derek was dead. (passes out pregnant) Time Amelia leaves as she is about to kill the Hospital which Meredith has half interest in and a seat on board with other seats beholden to Meredith.Bye bye head of Neurosurgery. Hello gun toting crazy woman.

Thank God they're addressing that next week since it's still bothering me.
ReplyDeleteAmelia is so unbearable..
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait for what's next to come.
ReplyDeleteAs his wife, she had a right to make that decision,. No one was able to say bye.
ReplyDeleteNow the shit hits the fan. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteOh god,she sure is! Next season I'm going to dvr the show just so i can fast forward when she is on,i can't take her.
ReplyDeleteLove Meredith

ReplyDeleteShe has legitimate reasons to be angry about this.
ReplyDeleteis the time jump permanent or was it just for the one episode
ReplyDeletePermanent lol why would it just be for the episode ?
ReplyDeleteShe is annoying but her point is valid. She had a right to at least be there...
ReplyDeleteIsn't that a weird jump from being content together in the home, accepting. Seemed like moving forward, now too the conflict.

ReplyDeleteOk people I would just like to say, this is a television and not real life,.
ReplyDeleteEveryone is entitled to there option
ReplyDeleteI agree. Saying goodbye to the dead body of a close relative, is extremely important for the grieving process and Meredith took that away.
ReplyDeleteI could see this one coming from the sneak peak last week
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with that! I fully thought Mer should have had him taken to his hospital with his people to have the machine off and to be at rest. They seemed happy in the last ep though?
ReplyDeleteShe should have called his family before she pulled the plug. Derek wasn't going anywhere. At least give them a chance to say goodbye.
ReplyDeleteShe had the right to be by her brother's side when Meredith pulled the plug.
ReplyDeleteYep, me too. What Mer did at that time was kinda selfish.

ReplyDeleteSo now she realizes Meredith make a mistake not informing her about Derek after one year?!?
ReplyDeleteI just can't with this woman!
