UPDATE: New NBC Comedy ‘People Are Talking’ Faces Recasting As It Shares Female Lead With Fox’s ‘The Guide To Surviving Life’
Ah, the dangers of second position casting. There was a lot of good upfront news for former Bring Human star Meaghan Rath today. Just before lunch, NBC picked up to series her NBC comedy pilot People Are Talking. Several hours later, Fox did the same with Rath’s other comedy pilot, The Guide to Surviving Life. Rath plays the female lead in both projects but one of them, Fox’s single-camera The Guide to Surviving Life, has her in first position. That means that NBC’s newly picked up multi-camera People Are Talking comedy will have to recast the role.

Thanks to Laurence for the heads up.
So wanted to share good news. But no: Fox is NOT picking up #StudioCity. America, you'd have LOVED this fucking show. @KristaVernoff

I know everyone is happy that Chevy is not being picked up.
ReplyDeleteStudio City... damn it Fox! Your Suck... rosewood over this..
ReplyDeleteI don't get the hate for the show lol. What is it people hated about it?
ReplyDeleteLucifer's chances are looking pretty good. :) Hopefully it gets picked up I reallllly wanna see a promo for it.
ReplyDeleteWell I was hoping it'd get passed over because I cannot stand Chevy Chase and simply would have been supremely annoyed at seeing his show advertised all summer. Ha.
ReplyDeleteI'm equally happy that Johnny Knoxville is not getting another 15 minutes of fame.
ReplyDeleteWaiting for teh rage of all feminist when they see Broad Squad wsnt picked.
ReplyDeleteThe NBA project sounded good. Boo you ABC.
Studio City sounds like something belonging to FX.
FOX is dumb, studio city could have built upon Empire and give fox a solid night
ReplyDeletePerhaps the finished product simply wasn't as good as they'd hoped.
ReplyDeleteI'd be shocked if they pair Empire with a show from an outside studio, anyway.
"Rage of all feminists"? Not only women could have watched this show. Everyone should be sad Broad Squad wasn't given a go. The concept alone is more unique than any other procedural on tv. First female graduates of the police academy in 1978 Boston? Could have been a very interesting series.
ReplyDeleteI'd never heard of the NBA project until now but it actually sounded good, I like the cast.
ReplyDeleteDammit Fox! The pilot was probably underwhelming
ReplyDeleteWow.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably why everyone hated it then. I feel dumb, for asking, but what show/movie is Chevy Chase known for? And why does everyone hate him?
ReplyDeleteMostly a bunch of slapstick 80s comedies. He was in the Disney movie Man of the House, which is the only thing I've liked him in. He was in Community as well and by far the worst cast member.
ReplyDeleteI think he's just unappealing to people who aren't that into silly slapstick and he was apparently a jerk on the Community set so I think that's why a lot of people dislike him lately. Maybe someone will chime in and clear it up, for me though, he's just very annoying and very unfunny.
Wow I thought the NBA comedy was definitely getting picked up..
ReplyDeleteChevy haters rejoice ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
ReplyDeleteSad for Eric! Maybe someone else picks it up! Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteHe's been in some classic comedies - "Fletch", "Caddyshack", and the "Vacation" franchise - but he's always had a rep for being difficult.
ReplyDeleteOh, I was hoping the NBA project would be picked up
ReplyDeleteYep I'm kind of bummed about that, it sounded interesting.
ReplyDeleteABC stilla has Mix and Runner right? I hope they can still pick Mix
ReplyDeleteChevy didn't get picked up. Omabin and my prayers have been answered!
ReplyDeleteWait .. The Curse of Fuentes Women was PASSED OVER !!!!
ReplyDeleteMy 3 most anticipated pilots are al dead, that is devastating
rejoice!
ReplyDeleteI am happy. Hate Chevy Chase.
ReplyDeleteWait where did U read that?
ReplyDeleteHollywoodreporter
ReplyDeleteOhh crap. It sounded neat, dig the cast.
ReplyDeleteCW should pick up studio city! Would go perfectly with JTV. ^^
ReplyDeleteYes it sounded amazing with amazing cast. I probably shouldn't get so invested in pilot season next year, because i am devastated right now. I knew all shows were in pilot stage only but i was already really looking forward to watch them next season
ReplyDeleteMad about the Molyneux project; love James Roday. :(
ReplyDeleteI know. I just waiting for the Code Black pick up, which is pretty sure now that the other medical drama was passed.
ReplyDeleteAll my favs have survived.
Except CDS, but wasn't to much into it.
I am shocked they passed over the NBA project but I don't even care since... NO CHEVY!! :D My prayers were answered.
ReplyDeleteYes!!!! Someone listened to us, Babar!!
ReplyDeleteFull on!
ReplyDeleteI am over the moon lol
ReplyDeleteSad that NBC passed on The Curse Of The Fuentes Woman. Now showrunners go to lifetime. I can see the show there .
ReplyDeleteOhh the hope :(
Chevy???
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised Chevy wasn't picked up. I wasn't looking forward to it too much, but I like Chevy from SNL and Caddyshack. Here's to hoping some of the other comedies are good.
ReplyDeleteTHR still has both in contention yes, but honestly where is the room for all of this?
ReplyDeleteSame here
ReplyDeleteFox made mistake passing on Studio City, only one that sounded good besides Scream Queens, I love Minority Report the movie but don't see it translating to TV show... unless you tell me Tom Cruise is on it lol
ReplyDeleteReally surprised ABC passed on Chevy... I know some people are very happy lol... The rest not surprised
I am utterly shocked they passed on Chevy and NBA.
ReplyDeleteGlad Chevy was passed, but noooo! The NBA project :(
ReplyDeleteAnd mine as well ;)
ReplyDeleteHe made a really public exit for Community.
ReplyDeleteStudio City is NOT being released by FOX according to Deadline. Will be revisited after upfronts for possible mid-season
ReplyDeleteA bit surprised and bummed for that Skylar Astin pilot.
ReplyDeleteDitto Broad Squad.
Meh on the rest.
