Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but ABC decided tonight not to renew FOREVER for a 2cnd season. It's brutal, but that's show business.

So sad for it's fans, from the little I saw the show was good
ReplyDeleteSorry for the fans :(
ReplyDeleteHopefully it can be picked somewhere else
Not a shocker
ReplyDeleteI dropped this when the ratings didn't go up, I wasn't that attached to it but would have gone back to it if it was renewed.
ReplyDeleteExpected but still sad. This was one of my favorite new shows. The Henry and Abe relationship was amazing.
ReplyDeleteTotally expected.
ReplyDeleteSeems like all the showrunners have been notified.
ReplyDeleteSaw it coming. Too bad, I liked it. Not that sad about it.
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise but still sucks for the fans. I caught a few episodes it was kind of interesting actually. At least the show didn't end in a terrible cliff hanger that left fans questioning if Henry died or not. At least the writers got the chance to write a some what decent ending.
ReplyDeleteDamn. It was fun while it lasted.
ReplyDeleteNo surprise... I think would've had better chance if would've been paired with Castle... Sorry for fans
ReplyDeleteCondolences to the show's fans.
ReplyDeleteBut I am also thinking baout the Cancellation Bear. Amid a flurry of pick ups and some renewals, it was getting famished. And now it will feast.
Not surprised, but was still holding out hope. It was my favorite show this season. At least we were able to get a decent send off. I will always wonder what Jo's reaction would've been to Henry's secret. I feel for the cast and crew because they were hoping just as much as we were to be renewed. Now I know better than to invest in a new series on ABC again.
ReplyDeleteGo to hell, ABC! We all wanted a 2nd season. It deserved it, was a great tv show!
ReplyDeleteDeadline | ‘Forever’ & ‘Cristela’ Cancelled By ABC
ReplyDeleteKnew it was coming but it still hurts.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why shows get cancelled...
ReplyDeleteno surprise here, we all knew it was coming. But at least they did not end it on a cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteDamn, I knew it was coming for Cristela but it sucks. It was a real funny show.
ReplyDeleteSad when a show that has terrific acting and writing doesn't get the support from the network that it should. One of the best new shows that I had the privelge of reviewing this year. Can't say the same about some of the other that I reviewed and some that I sampled...
ReplyDeleteIf I has Nielsen box I would have watched live unless another show I like more was on, but I don't even live in the U.S. so it doesn't matter. I'd imagine the majority of people with nielsen boxes would do the same.
ReplyDeleteI got busy with life and haven't seen the last 5 episodes or so. If I watch them, does it have a real ending?
ReplyDeleteNo, shows get cancelled because they fail to gain an audience, either by derivative content/storyline etc. Viewers imo are right to bail early. Make better products, consumers will buy it, make inferior... speaks for itself. Don't blame the fans, blame the creators.
ReplyDeleteI've seen this coming since January, but oh well... what can you do. At least they finished the season a note that works very well as a series finale and I've very happy and grateful for that.
ReplyDeleteIt was a great run Forever!
It was ABC studios I believe so highly unlikely.
ReplyDeletenah, open-ended ending, but nothing I intepreted as a cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteA. People who don't watch aren't fans and B, if you'd watched Forever you'd now that the content and storylines were far from derivative.
ReplyDeleteAw, damn. Sad. :(
ReplyDeleteTime are changing - though slowly and clearly the networks and studios aren't really paying the attention they say they are to DVR numbers, Twitter, etc. If you aren't in the US or even Canada, you're right in thinking you don't have a lot of influence on the first season of a show.
ReplyDeleteI hate this news. And Henry and Abe were a really special relationship. Against all reason I kept holding onto hope. Sad is my state tonight.
ReplyDeleteI watched it all, thanks. I and I stress imo, it was nothing was not done better in New Amsterdam (the show it copied down to the letter). Either way, I hate the culture now of 'you fans didn't watch/participate/campaign/insert verb enough. It's not the fans fault. Its the fault of the creator/network that didn't make a product the potential fans would want. Just because you liked it and are in the minority, does not invalidate the opinion of the majority. Nor does the majority opinion invalidate yours.
ReplyDeleteWe all like different stuff, but fan blaming, (which is what you did, your sentence won't magically change meaning), is not the answer here.
Just my opinion.
same here
ReplyDeleteSad BUT we got a satisfying ending! Keep that in mind, not many procedurals do.
ReplyDeleteAdam is defeated, Jo let in on the secret. All is right with the world
NOOOOOOOOOOOO!
ReplyDeleteFOREVER
ReplyDeleteSometimes the name of the show.
Sometimes its cancelation.
Indeed, forever indeed is not enough for the show to last a lifetime.
I wish only the best for all the actors on FOREVER. Loved Henry, Jo, Abe and Lucas....so many great scenes with them. And all the great NYC locations that they filmed in especially on the finale at the Church Avenue (Brooklyn) scene where they filmed...my former neighborhood!
ReplyDeleteIn Loving Memory of Forever:

another immortal lost... I liked the show a lot but I can also lost a bunch ond things they did wrong and things they should of done.
ReplyDeleteI felt like regaurdless this show was needed in the future post Castle for its case of the week but I guess they will find a new duo.
DAMN IT, SON OF A BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTragic.Galavant got renewed and this show got canned-Sad!
ReplyDeleteDone.
ReplyDeleteAgain, by definition _fans_ watch a show. I was not "fan-blaming". And your magically "interpreting" my words to fit your agenda won't change the meaning either.
ReplyDeleteIt was all about the ratings. Rough game to play, but no show can survive on fandom love alone. It needs to beat the competition. It sucks, but I've lost so many shows over the years I've come to expect loss early on.
ReplyDeleteA few storylines were kind of wrapped. It wasn't too bad. No major cliffhanger.
ReplyDeleteFans watch the show/support it a lot - fan comes from "fanatics" which means they absolutely love the show. Casual viewers skip episodes or aren't involved too much in the fandom. Simple as that.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing wrong with being either one but not everyone can be labeled a fan when some fans are writing letters and tweeting with the cast and crew, etc.
Bummer. I have yet to watch the finale but at least I can savor it knowing it'll be the last episode.
ReplyDeleteAnother show I love gets cancelled while shit gets to stay on for years. Damn.
ReplyDeleteABC didn't give it enough of a chance. It was gaining fan support on FB and Twitter. Some shows take more than a season to really gain a following. If it had been on CW or another network, I think it would have been picked up. What a shame, another good one down. I'm so disappointed, I was holding out hope till the end.
ReplyDeleteLiterally all of the shows I cared about on ABC got renewed...except this one!
ReplyDeleteI am so super bummed! This, to me, was the perfect show. It had everything I wanted. I honestly don't understand why the ratings were so low. You would think people would recognize quality shows when there's so much "eh" stuff out there.
I really hope they at least try to get it picked up somewhere else... *crosses fingers*
I can't be too sad because a bunch of ftuff I thought for sure was cancelled got renewed. Still this one stings because it was better than its ratings implied.
ReplyDeleteI watched the first couple episodes a few months back and while I didn't love it instantly, it had charm and potential. Condolences to the fans! Ioan is incredibly talented.
ReplyDeleteMy watch list is dwindling fast. Thank god for Netflix, Amazon, Acorn and Hulu. I will miss all the characters, the sweetness, the charm and the kindness. Hoping all the actors get great next gigs. Another class act bites the dust.
ReplyDeleteStill really bothered by what he did to Adam.
ReplyDeleteSo American Crime, Galavant and a bunch of other shows that basically no one watches and no one wants to see renewed, got renewed anyway, but no, not this awesome show that people loved. Go to hell, ABC. Your decision-making is awful.
ReplyDeleteNo,No,No!!
ReplyDeleteThat's 3 of my favourite shows now (mindy project and sirens too) that I wanted to be renewed more than any of the others 😔😫😠devestated...massive well done to everyone on the show, will be waiting to see your future projects. What with mentalist and parenthood finished to I will have nothing left to watch 👎
ReplyDeleteNo surprise, after all the previous one like this was cancelled just as the series entered it's most interesting phase.
ReplyDeleteNOOOOOOOO :(
ReplyDeleteagreed, the show was not only derivative but bland. not really a surprise it got cancelled.
ReplyDeleteMy dear friends, fans, supporters. Tonight, as you all now know, I received a phone call that I was hoping not to receive, and to be honest I really wasn’t expecting it. I knew the numbers hadn’t been great, but I also knew the studio and the network both loved the show, and of course that it had an incredible fan base…so I thought we were in with a pretty good chance. But sadly no, this time the cards weren’t dealt in our favor. Show business is like that. Hell, life is like that. You ride to the top of the wave and then you come crashing down again. I asked Alice to send out the sad news because I was a little bit shaken up and needed time to gather my thoughts. So I sat down and started reading the thousands of Tweets in response to the announcement. And the more I read, the more I couldn’t believe it. The love, the sense of solidarity, the hope, the kindness, the support. Not just for the show, but for each other. And slowly I began to focus on what we had gained in the past year, rather than what we had lost in the last five minutes. I was overcome by a sense of gratitude. To have met you all and to have you all rooting for me and the show. At having a chance to play the role of my dreams, even if it was only for a year. To have been given the chance to bring Henry to life. Watching the interaction of the FOREVER fans come together and share their love for the show has been breath-taking. It was you guys who held me up when I thought I could no longer go on. (Those days were LONG!) You made me smile when you pointed out the little things I did on screen that I thought had gone unnoticed. You gave me confidence when I accidentally found myself reading less than shining reviews. You were always with me, every step of the way, waving your flags, shouting your support for the show. It’s been an incredible, wonderful year, one that I will never, ever forget. And guess what? The memories belong to us. We get to keep them ‘forever!’ Thanks again a million times for your unwavering support. Stay strong, be brave, and show kindness as often as you can! Ioan xxx

ReplyDeleteAnd Resurrection
ReplyDeleteDeserved at least a second season :(
ReplyDeleteAll the fan support on social networks doesn't help with the ratings.
ReplyDeleteI know, but it's time they do away with their antiquated, age of the dinosaur way of doing things and start paying attention to the real world.
ReplyDeleteI wish they would do a tv movie for it, just to give us alittle more.
ReplyDeleteUntil the money comes from people who watches the show when it is broadcasted, the rating system isn't antiquated. It's not about popularity, it's about headcount, and that's what the advertisers are paying for.
ReplyDeleteThat the network channels revenue structure is antiquated, trying to get the big money from a shrinking market, that's true - but it isn't the fault of the measuring system. Kind of like it's not the mirror's fault if you look disshelved.
It wasn't really original nor extraordinary but it was good. And I can't process that I have seen the last episode of it. The only thing that makes me happy about it is that I will never have to go through Abe's death.
ReplyDeletei can't believe this show didn't get renewed:( i know it's unlikely but i'll hold out hope someone will save it only because it was a phenomenal show and i'm just not ready to admit to myself that it won't be back:(
ReplyDeleteMy heart hurts for Forever. It was a really good show. I will miss it. :( Deserved one more season at least.
ReplyDeleteI knew this was coming, but I was hoping for a miracle. It was such a great show, the best procedural this season, followed closely by Stalker (which will mostlikely be cancelled too)
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice if it ended up on "TNT" I'm certain that network is owned by warner bros? Which owns forever.
ReplyDeleteThey would make more money off show merchandise, which internet fans do buy. They definitely need to update their model of how they are doing things.
ReplyDeleteThis past season, "Forever" was the only regular television show I watched on any network. The idea was more original than anything I had seen for years. Now I will no reason to watch ABC except for "Dancing With The Stars"!
ReplyDeleteNooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
ReplyDeleteI think ABC has been hit by a 'truck' and they have been taken to the hospital Derek was taken too, and now they are all brain dead.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe that ABC would cancel such a good show. It's acting is great and the chemistry
ReplyDeletebetween the actors is wonderful. My wife and I watch it each week. Time to rethink this mistake!!
For all you Foreverists out there, I just signed these two petitions to help get Forever picked up elsewhere and I would REALLY appreciate it if you all could sign as well:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.change.org/p/netflix-save-forever
https://www.change.org/p/warner-brothers-warner-brothers-fans-love-the-tv-show-forever
Please!!!
I also just signed them!! Sry a bit late but hope it helps.
ReplyDeleteThat's so great! Every little bit helps, thank you!! And both petitions (especially the second one) are doing really well so please tell your friends and family about this too!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't watch anything on ABC for 20 years before Forever. I can go another 20+ years before I watch anything on their channel again. Maybe another channel will pick them up.
ReplyDelete
