Sources say Gary Newman and Dana Walden's first appearance as TV Group chairmen will bring news that the hip-hop drama has been given a heftier 18-episode order.
Too bad. Was hoping the creators/writers would win for a change and the season would be 15-16 episodes instead of 18 like Fox wanted. I think one of the reasons for the shows gargantuan success was the story lines moving at a faster pace than the average 22 episode show, that will be hard to sustain with 18 episodes (though might have been difficult in season 2 regardless).
That's what I was expecting. This is essentially a compromise between Fox and the creators/writers since Fox would prefer 22, while the creators/writers wanted 13.
It's like they want full 24 episodes because of how juicy Empire is but they don't want to look desperate by doing so and kind of order a semi-full season to say it's because of creative imput. Hollywood is so predictable.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Yaaaas! I can't wait!

ReplyDeleteInteresting.
ReplyDeleteHmm. Let's hope they are able to keep up the same intensity as that of S1.
ReplyDeleteSmart. 9 eps during fall than make a littlr break and bring it back in March.
ReplyDeleteHow much longer? I can't take it....Love this series so much!!!!!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Sleepy Hollow syndrome.
ReplyDelete8 episodes in the fall (with baseball breaks) + 7 weeks of hiatus (American Idol covering in) + 10 weeks in the winter/spring.
ReplyDeleteFOX came through, good for them.

ReplyDelete9 in the Fall and 9 in the Spring with a long midseason hiatus. Glad to read in that blurb that American Idol is expected to end after next season.

ReplyDeleteMmm I like the original music and I hope timbaland is able to make good music for 18 episodes instead of 12.
ReplyDeleteI bet the showrunner is pissed. He wanted 12 again, not even 13.
