Great teaser, very intriguing... But 2016?! I knew there was gonna be some caveat to the network change. Ugh. I guess we won't see it until March when Bates starts up. Boo!
Not a good sign for the renewal prospects of the Returned either. I dont get what A&E is doing by waiting until March for Damien, why not debut the show around Halloween? I also dont get airing Bates Motel/the Returned together for 10 weeks when they are the only two scripted shows on the network. It makes more sense to me to build up their scripted brand by airing shows at 10pm as close to year round as possible. Bates 10+the Returned 10+ Unforgettable 13+ Damien 10 would mean that A&E could have an original scripted show on Mondays for 43 weeks out of 52 for the year.
Well I could understand wanting to pair two shows together but A&E does have a serious scripted series thing going on. They need to greenlight something so that when BM and Damien wrap up their runs The Returned and something else can run for another 10.
Ugh if they're going to wait for Bates Motel then they're pretty much going to be sitting on the episodes for near a year since production wraps next month.
I thought dramas took 10 episodes per episode for filming. So if they have to not only write but film 4 extra episodes in 14 days I'm significantly suddenly not excited.
It depends on the show. Off the top of my head, Supernatural ranges from 7 to 11 days, Arrow ranges from 9 to 11 days while Pretty Little Liars ranges from 6 to 8 days.
This show will not be filming when iZombie is filming season 2 for quite a while. There's no reason he can't recur on iZombie when Damien would only film 10 episodes (the A&E norm) per year...
The only good thing running for The Returned is that it's owned by A&E (and from what I understand, so is Damien) so they will have to keep it for another season if they want their scripted slate to grow two-fold from just two shows a year.
I kinda get why A&E would insist of pairing their dramas up but losing more than a third of Bates' audience should be telling enough to switch up their programming strategies.
So true. Although, I love what they've done with Bates Motel. I haven't watched the American version of The Returned yet so can't comment on it. However, I found the original French version slow yet haunting and intriguing. A&E seems to pick their un- originals well.
There is no way the show is filming 4 episodes in 14 days. Maybe the show is not taking days off (usually they work 5 days/2 days off) but each episode at a minimum would take 6 days to film, and 6 days is pushing it.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteThat was spectacular
ReplyDeletewhy wait so damn long?
ReplyDeleteHow can A&E "be original" when The Returned, Bates Motel and Damien are not original ideas?

ReplyDeleteThat was the original production schedule but they added four additional episodes who will add at least another month to production.
ReplyDeleteThe production schedule was already updated and they only added another fortnight.
ReplyDeletePreviously they finished June 12, now they finish June 23.
Sort if hope this does bad so Bradley can stay on Izombie as a series regular next season.

ReplyDeleteWell I read a tvline article saying that lowell and livs relationship was doomed and hopefully that isnt right.
ReplyDeleteWow, so they're really gonna make us wait for a total of nearly two years for this one. Gonna be a long wait.

Not a bad teaser...
ReplyDeleteWell, Damien is a sequel, not a remake, but you shouldn't write sth like that, people on this site apparently love reused ideas.

ReplyDeleteWell Damien grew up! I'll take a peek and check it out..
