Constantine - Trends And Receives Support From Other TV Stars

May 10, 2015

Of all the new series announced, none of them got the social media coverage as did the cancellation of Constantine. It trended nationwide on Twitter and by Friday night it was the top trending topic. There was also support for the series being picked up by another network or streaming service in the form of Stephen Amell, Joseph Morgan and William Shatner all pledging to guest star on the series if it returns.

Grant Gustin has also retweeted posts by William Shatner, appearing to show his support.

Wow, maybe constantine should really just be Picked up by someone else

    ReplyDelete
  2. Wow. Just wow. This is really nice.

    ReplyDelete
  3. This is some awesome support!
I'd love for The CW to pick it up (maybe for summer), bur Netflix and such are more likely

    ReplyDelete
  4. I really doubt this will help.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Is Matt Ryan dying or about to go bankrupt ?
Love when friends show their support for friends !!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Could you imagine Arrow-The Flash-Legends of Tomorrow-iZombie-SuperGirl-Constantine crossover next year?

    ReplyDelete
  7. This amount of support is amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  8. It's a nice sentiment of solidarity. But, one fractional show star vowing to help another fraction show star for a single episode isn't going to allow the show to get the increase in viewership to make it viable. If that was possible, certainly, NBC would have kept it. Or Syfy seriously considered it.

    ReplyDelete
  9. My bets are on Netflix too, but I'd love an AU episode where Constantine crosses over with Supernatural.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Pablo how was the show quality wise? Didn't watch, didn't appeal to me.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Mediocre at best, I'd say

    ReplyDelete
  12. It isn't enough by a distance but still nice to see such support.

Any effort to bring back a show from cancellation always reminds me of the amazing and epic effort by Chuck fans after its cancellation at the end of S2.

    ReplyDelete
  13. For me personally, there were some absolutely amazing episodes. But on the other side, there were a few weak episodes too

    ReplyDelete
  14. Was one of the best shows on television this season, imo. Downright perfect when it comes to comic accuracy and Matt Ryan is one of the best actors to portray a comic book character on TV.

  15. Christopher DeBonoMay 10, 2015 at 8:54 PM

Stephen Amell was apparently already pushing for an Arrow/Constantine crossover. Apparently it would have been about the Lazarus Pit, with Constantine wanting Oliver to hand it over.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Some episodes were good and some were weak. But Matt Ryan was fantastic as the titular character.

    ReplyDelete
  17. How would U compare it to Arrow, Gotham or Flash?

    ReplyDelete
  18. It would be amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Totally different genres. Much closer to Supernatural and Sleepy Hollow.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Quality wise or storywise?

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hmm okay. If it gets revived will try out with pilot and than decide.

    ReplyDelete
  22. As nice as this is I doubt anything will come from it.

If here was a Arrow/The Flash/Legends of Tomorrow, SuperGirl, and Constantine crossover event that would involve 3 different networks coming together. Has that ever been done before ?

    ReplyDelete
  23. Quality at first? To which one would U compare it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Constantine would have prospered on the CW since lets be honest for a show to be successful on that network doesn't take much but the cw decided to renew damn near everything

    ReplyDelete
  25. Qualitywise, it was the weakest by far among the 4.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Personally, I would rank it above Gotham.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Uhhh. I just decided to drop Gotham, cause it wasn't really convincing.

    ReplyDelete
  28. LMAO I think he just wants to save his show he clearly feels passionate about

    ReplyDelete
  29. Agree. Gotham was the weakest out of DCTV.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I dropped it after 4 episodes because I just didn't have time for it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Same here. I am not returning for S2.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Christopher DeBonoMay 10, 2015 at 9:05 PM

Same. I'm still planning on watching it because it's a comic book TV show but I'm just gonna binge watch it during summer. It's not interesting enough to watch week in week out.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I wanted to drop it after midseason but somehow pushed through the season. But at this point I'll binge watch it during breaks.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yep binge watching during breaks and summer.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The pilot is not very good ,it starts getting better after episode 3

    ReplyDelete
  36. He isn't doing anything though. It's his friends doing it all.

    ReplyDelete
  37. This feels like The Secret Circle all over again. I still didn't forgive Cw that cancellation.
But doubt CW could revive it, the production and coast would need to be adjusted quite much I assume. But relauncing the show during summer could create descent buzz for the CW.

  38. John Stoned Love GonzalesMay 10, 2015 at 9:27 PM

Constantine doesnt deserve this, Cristela does

    ReplyDelete
  39. The show is amazing and it's a damn shame NBC canceled it. I hope it gets picked up by someone else.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Imagine Thea going to Constantine for information about the LP and it's effects! God! He could be so easily introduced and his show would, at the same time, feel so different! It has a loyal fanbase with good ratings for theCW without counting what a cameo of Arrow/Flash would do to them!

I know people say theCW won't flood it's schedule with DC Shows, but Flash and Arrow are way different shows. A person looks at either of them for the first time and you don't go "right, they're the same universe".

Well, Constantine is the same. I would love a Justice League made of Green Arrow, Supergirl, Flash, The Atom and Constantine for the TV. Each very different and singular.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Of course not. This show skews old not the CW's target demo. Most of the CW viewers are girls. With a lead that ugly, it'll just drive them away. Flash is able to tie ratings with American Idol and AOS. It's already a rating dud on of the Big 4 network. There's no guarantee that it's viewers will transition to CW. Constantine fans are already dissing CW so there's no point trying to get those delusional and ungrateful viewers. It'll be cheaper to just focus on another Supernatutal spin-off.

    ReplyDelete
  42. ok now I really need to watch this show. Ahhhhh I need more time......

    ReplyDelete
  43. someone is always the first ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  44. did it not work for Farscape and Jericho?

    ReplyDelete
  45. My opinion it's much better then Gotham or season 3 of Arrow.

    ReplyDelete
  46. George Clooney needs to chime in.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Really? Pilot episode is the most important episode since it's the episode where viewers usually decides if they'll continue watching. They introduced a character then never bothered to use her ever again. They didn't even bother recasting or re-shooting the pilot. Also awful writing on that rising darkness bullcrap.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Delusional Fans. These are just actors not TV executives. Grimm was able to survive on that spot and even has no comic book following. Ugly Lead too.

    ReplyDelete
  49. You are the one who is sounding like an angry and delusional person, please stop kidding yourself. Jeez.

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's dead. Giving people false hope would just get you nowhere. Really ulgy looking lead.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Well Warner Bros started shopping this around when it was canceled so this kind of buzz can only help. I feel out of all the canceled shows that will be shopped to new outlets this week, this has a better shot than most at getting a new home. Netflix would be preferred as they could go as dark and serialized as they'd want, but I'd be happy with anywhere. Overall though enough of my faves got renewed and enough good pilots got picked up I could survive this being dead forever but still, fingers crossed.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Do you guys think this will actually work? It'll be sort of awkward if it doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  53. CW has no history of picking up canceled shows from another network not counting the shows before the UPN/WB merge.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Mmm maybe this might be the first time they do it??

    ReplyDelete
  55. Business wise, I don't think that's a good idea and they already have a loaded schedule.

    ReplyDelete
  56. ^That was hilarious :D

    ReplyDelete
  57. Christopher DeBonoMay 10, 2015 at 11:13 PM

Supposedly FOX was interested. If anything comes from it though who knows. I doubt it but weirder things have happened.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Netflix has a deal for some original Marvel series but it doesn't exclude them from having DC shows. And they carry some especially the ones from CW. Which are always listed high in the trending section. I don't think they have anything preventing them if it's something they want to do.

    ReplyDelete
  59. CW and Netflix has a deal ending this season not DC and Netflix.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Haven't watched, honestly, I was waiting to see if it would get a season 2. If it gets picked up somewhere, I'll defenitely catch up

    ReplyDelete
  61. With shows with ratings like Constantine might bring? Not really... Just Arrow and Flash.
If i'm not mistaken, Constantine pulled 0.8s on NBC. And maybe, by sharing the universe, they can bring some Arrow/Flash watchers. Even if it stays at 0.8s and 0.9s it's better than 80% of theCW schedule: They even renewed a crappy show like BatB... A piece of wet paper is better than that show.

    ReplyDelete
  62. Despite what everyone might say about how "ridiculous" or whatever this may be, I think it is very nice how everyone is stepping in trying to help. Pretty nice of everyone.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Same here. I still find it unlikely but I really love how everyone is stepping in for support.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I think it is very nice how they are all showing support, don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
  65. What guarantees that the show will be able to pull those ratings on CW? Those assumption are far too risky for netlet like CW especially with Tribune deal close to expiring. BATB is a CBS show and its a Canadian co-production so its cheap. CW is forced to renew or pick-up at least one CBS show per season.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Well, for what i heard, theCW and CBS are not a big issue... They're kinda the same thing. And Amell said there were "talks" for him to crossover to Constantine while the show was still on because "the Pit will keep being a aprt of Arrow", and then he stoped, maybe he almost give hints about Season 4.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Highlight Cristela, Right click, Search Google for "Cristela" Looks a bit... Yea, nope it doesn't.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Let's say worst case scenario the show goes deep into the 0.4 or 0.5s territory... It's still on par with some of their shows, i think. Like i said, i'm not saying it will happen, but it's a matter of just taking some risks: see if the audience returns and if they can win some from the shared universe.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'm aware and I didn't imply that. I simply stated that the Marvel/Netflix deal does not mean that Netflix can't produce an original DC series.

    ReplyDelete
  70. With the number of Marvel shows soon to debut on Netflix, wouldn't you think DC would've made a deal by now? Especially with the current superhero craze.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Was Constantine really this good?

    ReplyDelete
  72. Christopher DeBonoMay 10, 2015 at 11:58 PM

It wasn't outright amazing, but being a comic book show it quickly developed a cult following. It helped that the comic book itself has a big following already.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Much prefer a Arrow or Flash even LoT crossover.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I'm trying not to get any hopes up. The show did get considerably better after the shaky pilot with the addition of Zed and more elements and plots straight from the comics. Episode 4 "A Feast of Friends" was an excellent adaption of the very first two issues of the Hellblazer comic. I would be interested to see where they take it should it return from the grave.

It's rare, but shows have been brought back from cancelation by fandom campaigns before. Farscape and Firefly got miniseries/movies, Jericho, Chuck and I belive The Killing got extra seasons. JAG left NBC and flourished for 9 more seasons at CBS while spinning of NCIS and a whole dynasty of shows..

    ReplyDelete
  75. awesome!! i love this show and pray it gets picked up by someone, anyone, else.. And thanks to all the stars pledging to guest star...you guys rock:)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Didn't Netflix pick up Longmire too?

    ReplyDelete
  77. Christopher DeBonoMay 11, 2015 at 12:42 AM

Yep. Netflix picked it up for a 4th season.

    ReplyDelete
  78. It would be really cool if the show was picked up and all of these people guest starred. I would start watching.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Possibly. My examples were what I could list on short notice.

Netflix has indeed often offered cancled shows a comeback. At they if any should find strong social media/streaming numbers interesting. Plus to get out from under the thumb of broadcast TV rules would only do a show like Constantine good.

    ReplyDelete
  80. not at all...maybe like what was said already, if you were into the comics you may enjoy it..if not, its one of the weaker shows that aired...and dont get me wrong the show was not the worst out there but the creative direction along with the story arcs, writing and plots were just a disaster..

    ReplyDelete
  81. I like the comics, but I guess I'll continue to skip this show then.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I think this is so nice, so great for these guys to do. Constantine has the potential, it just didn't hit hard in its first season. I think it was a better fit for anyone not NBC/ABC/CBS/Fox. I wish Netflix would pick it up. Give it the MA treatment.

    ReplyDelete
  83. its really one of those to be honest you just have to see for yourself..I did enjoy a couple episodes myself but overall was just not impressed..I would maybe give it a try if you have nothing else to watch...

    ReplyDelete
  84. i would for the show to continue and think its great that is getting the support

    ReplyDelete
  85. That's sweet... and I feel for the most part a bit pointless... but sweet...

    ReplyDelete
  86. Plus contextually it makes no sense.

    ReplyDelete
  87. netflix has begun to invest more in their original products,so i dont see them picking up.
cw might benefit but they r jam packed .

    ReplyDelete
  88. I'd more than likely drop the show if it started crossing over with Arrow though :/

    ReplyDelete
  89. Agreed,It truly was.

    ReplyDelete
  90. It would also crossover with Flash and LoT. All four crossing over would be sick.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I say that about Arrow and the Flash.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yh I'd definitely drop it then though. I can't stand those shows.

    ReplyDelete
  93. That opinion is so wrong to me it hurts. Plus both were better than Constantine.

    ReplyDelete
  94. But sucks for you. For me...

    ReplyDelete
  95. Lol, The Flash definitely has it's fans but it's one of the worst shows I've ever watched, the only worse one I can think of for me is Smallville. I'm constantly disappointed by comic book shows though, on paper they sound like something I'd love but I find AOS, AC & Constantine ok at best and hate the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  96. This opinion is the wrong for so many reasons. For so many reasons. And none of those are even superhero shows. Which is perhaps the worst part about that. Worst part is you fail to even mention Daredevil (which beats every other marvel show and most without even trying). Calling the Flash one of the worst, is like saying the Cape was good. Jesus. Then stop watching them if it's so bad for you.

    ReplyDelete
  97. Woah don't have a fit. I totally forgot about Daredevil, that one is certainly my favourite. I dunno what The Cape is but The Flash is one of the worst imo. And obviously I don't watch the ones I don't like.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Hell yes, save Constantine! Would be perfect on CW. I'd love for the guest stars to happen!!
