THE NEW FALL DRAMAS:
Code_Black
CODE BLACK, based on the award-winning documentary by Ryan McGarry, is a heart-pounding medical drama that takes place in the busiest, most notorious ER in the nation, where the staggering influx of patients can outweigh the limited resources available to the extraordinary doctors and nurses whose job is to treat them all – creating a condition known as Code Black. At the heart of the ER’s controlled chaos is Residency Director Dr. Leanne Rorish (Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden), renowned for successfully performing high-risk procedures in Center Stage, the trauma area reserved for the most critical cases. Her four new first-year residents are Christa Lorenson (Bonnie Somerville), Malaya Pineda (Melanie Kannokada), Mario Savetti (Benjamin Hollingsworth) and Angus Leighton (Harry M. Ford). Leanne’s confidante, Jesse Sallander (Luis Guzman), is an amiable seen-it-all senior nurse who manages the residents. Also working in the ER is Dr. Neal Hudson (Raza Jaffrey), an excellent physician who sometimes disagrees with Leanne’s “cowboy” approach, and Dr. Rollie Guthrie (William Allen Young), the energetic, longest-serving attending. In Center Stage, life is measured in seconds, and these heroic doctors and nurses operate with speed and skill within an overwhelmed system to treat the crowds of people who are often there for one of two reasons: to die or to receive a life-saving miracle. Michael Seitzman, Marti Noxon, Linda Goldstein-Knowlton, Ryan McGarry and David Semel are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios. The pilot was directed by David Semel (“Madam Secretary”).
Limitless
LIMITLESS, based on the feature film, is a fast-paced drama about Brian Finch (Jake McDorman), who discovers the brain-boosting power of the mysterious drug NZT and is coerced by the FBI into using his extraordinary cognitive abilities to solve complex cases for them. Working closely with Brian in the major case squad in New York City is Special Agent Rebecca Harris (Jennifer Carpenter), a formidable investigator with a dark past, and Special Agent Boyle (Hill Harper), a former military officer and Rebecca’s confidante. They report to Special Agent in Charge Nasreen “Naz” Pouran (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio), a canny manipulator of the reins of power. Unbeknownst to the FBI, Brian also has a clandestine relationship with Senator Edward Mora (Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper, recurring), a presidential hopeful and regular user of NZT who has plans of his own for his new protégé. Fueled now with a steady supply of NZT that enables him to use 100% of his brain capacity, Brian is more effective than all of the FBI agents combined, making him a criminal’s worst nightmare and the greatest asset the Bureau has ever possessed. Craig Sweeny, Marc Webb, Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, Heather Kadin, Bradley Cooper, Todd Phillips, Ryan Kavanaugh, Tucker Tooley and Tom Forman are executive producers for CBS Television Studios in association with K/O Paper Products and Relativity Television. The pilot was directed by Marc Webb (“The Amazing Spider-Man” 1 and 2 Feature Films).
SupergirlSUPERGIRL is an action-adventure drama based on the DC Comics character Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist), Superman’s (Kal-El) cousin who, after 12 years of keeping her powers a secret on Earth, decides to finally embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Twelve-year-old Kara escaped the doomed planet Krypton with her parents’ help at the same time as the infant Kal-El. Protected and raised on Earth by her foster family, the Danvers, Kara grew up in the shadow of her foster sister, Alex (Chyler Leigh), and learned to conceal the phenomenal powers she shares with her famous cousin in order to keep her identity a secret. Years later at 24, Kara lives in National City assisting media mogul and fierce taskmaster Cat Grant (Golden Globe Award winner Calista Flockhart), who just hired the Daily Planet’s former photographer, James Olsen (Mehcad Brooks), as her new art director. However, Kara’s days of keeping her talents a secret are over when Hank Henshaw (David Harewood), head of a super-secret agency where her sister also works, enlists her to help them protect the citizens of National City from sinister threats. Though Kara will need to find a way to manage her newfound empowerment with her very human relationships, her heart soars as she takes to the skies as Supergirl to fight crime. Greg Berlanti (“The Flash,” “Arrow”), Ali Adler, Sarah Schecter and Andrew Kreisberg are executive producers for Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television. The pilot was directed by Glen Winter (“Arrow”).
THE NEW FALL COMEDIES:
Angel_From_HellANGEL FROM HELL stars Golden Globe and multiple Emmy Award winner Jane Lynch in a single-camera comedy about Amy (Lynch), a colorful, brassy woman who insinuates herself into Allison’s (Maggie Lawson) organized and seemingly perfect life, claiming to be her “guardian angel.” Allison is an intense, driven doctor who is sure that Amy is just an inebriated, outspoken nut, until every one of her warnings proves true. Cautioned by Amy not tell anyone about her, Allison can’t discuss this over-the-top oddball with her father and business partner, Marv (Kevin Pollak), a sunburned dermatologist who shares an office with Allison, or her younger brother, Brad (Kyle Bornheimer), a pharmaceutical sales rep who lives over her garage. As Allison tries to push Amy away, Amy makes her final pitch: her sole mission is to provide Allison with helpful guidance that nudges her in the right direction in life – and it’s her final chance to prove herself as an angel. With that, Allison agrees to this unlikely relationship because maybe a weird friend is exactly what she needs… and what if Amy really is her “guardian angel”? Tad Quill and Emmy Award winner Don Scardino (“30 Rock”) are executive producers for CBS Television Studios. The pilot was directed by Don Scardino.
Life_In_Pieces
LIFE IN PIECES is a single-camera comedy about one big happy family and their sometimes awkward, often hilarious and ultimately beautiful milestone moments as told by its various members. Of the three siblings, middle child Matt (Thomas Sadoski) may have just found his true love, his co-worker, Colleen (Angelique Cabral); his coddled youngest brother, Greg (Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee Colin Hanks), and his wife, Jen (Zoe Lister Jones), are overwhelmed by the birth of their first child; and the eldest, Heather (Betsy Brandt), and her husband, Tim (Dan Bakkedahl), are dreading their impending empty nest so much, they’re considering having another baby. Their parents are Joan (Academy, Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Dianne Wiest), the family’s adoring matriarch who would do anything for her kids – as long as she agrees with it – and John (Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner James Brolin), the gregarious patriarch who’s searching for ways to soften the blow of turning 70. As the family’s lives unfold in four short stories each week, they try to savor these little pieces of time that flash by but stay with you forever, because these moments add up to what life’s all about. Niall Cunningham, Holly J. Barrett and Giselle Eisenberg also star. Justin Adler, Emmy Award winner Jason Winer (“Modern Family”) and Aaron Kaplan are executive producers for 20th Century Fox Television in association with Kapital Entertainment. The pilot was directed by Jason Winer.
NEW SERIES FOR LATER THIS SEASON:
CRIMINAL MINDS: BEYOND BORDERS (Spinoff) stars Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Gary Sinise in a drama about the specialized International Division of the FBI tasked with solving crimes and coming to the rescue of Americans who find themselves in danger while abroad. Heading the department is Unit Chief Jack Garrett (Sinise), a seasoned 20-year veteran of the Bureau. The team he trusts with his life includes Matthew Simmons (Daniel Henney), a former military hero with split-second profiling skills he honed on the battlefield, and Russ “Monty” Montgomery (Tyler James Williams), the unit’s compassionate, brilliant tech analyst who additionally liaises stateside with the families of those in trouble while his group is far from home. These exceptional agents are dedicated to safely returning U.S. residents home by profiling and identifying criminals who are beyond our borders. The pilot was a planted spin-off of an episode of CRIMINAL MINDS broadcast on April 8, 2015. Emmy Award winner Mark Gordon, Erica Messer and Nick Pepper are executive producers for ABC Studios in association with CBS Television Studios and The Mark Gordon Company. The episode was directed by Glen Kershaw (“Criminal Minds”).
Rush_HourRUSH HOUR, a reimagining of the hit feature film franchise, is a buddy-cop drama about a maverick LAPD detective and a by-the-book detective from Hong Kong who knock heads when they are forced to partner together. Detective Lee (Jon Foo) is a reserved, honorable master martial artist with lightning-fast moves who comes to L.A. to avenge his sister’s alleged death and learn more about her connection to a Chinese organized crime ring. Detective Carter (Justin Hires), on the other hand, is a wisecracking cop who plays by his own rules and has never wanted a partner. As exasperated as Carter’s boss, Captain Cole (Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominee Wendie Malick), gets with him, she knows he’s a brilliant detective who gets results. Attempting to help the two get along is Sergeant Didi Diaz (Aimee Garcia), Carter’s friend and former partner who doesn’t hesitate to call him out on his antics. But even as cultures clash and tempers flare, Carter and Lee can’t deny they make a formidable team, and grudgingly admit that sometimes an unlikely pairing makes for a great partnership. Bill Lawrence, Blake McCormick, Jeff Ingold, Jon Turteltaub and the team behind the “Rush Hour” movies, Arthur Sarkissian and Brett Ratner, are executive producers for Warner Bros. Television.
Television. The pilot was directed by Jon Turteltaub.

YES! Exactly 3 new dramas i want to watch are in fall
ReplyDeleteDamn I really wanted Limitless after Scorpion, I hope it does well where it is.
ReplyDeleteSolid work! Surprised they deleted their Monday comedies as well.
ReplyDeleteWhen will 2bg and MM air?
Code Black got the Stalker slot, that is okay, my Wednesdays will be packed.
Limitless vs. Quantico. Sorry Quantico, but there's isn't any way that I will miss Limitless live. CBS made sure it was handled. I think that ABC is going to make a quick schedule change.
ReplyDeleteCode Black is terrible Wednesday at 10 PM. It's going to skew dead. I'm surprised neither CBS or ABC really attacked Wednesdays at 10 PM.
Why would they put Supergirl on @8 making it go against Gotham?
ReplyDeleteGoodbye CSI Cyber
ReplyDeleteThe 2 shows I watch Good Wife and Elementary are in their same slots, so I'm good.
ReplyDeleteQuantico and Limitless are competing against each other. I hope they can survive.
ReplyDeleteI will probably watch Supergirl
ReplyDeleteWhere's Person of Interest and 2 Broke Girls?
ReplyDeleteSo CSI is ending :(
ReplyDeleteOh cool, Bradley Cooper will recur in Limitless :)
ReplyDeleteWAIT! I don't see 2 Broke Girls
ReplyDeleteI can't believe they're going to keep 2 Broke Girls away for I don't know how long
ReplyDeleteCBS is going to kill with Limitless. Maybe the best scheduling decision of all the networks.
ReplyDeleteSo Supergirl vs Gotham
ReplyDeleteCW is going to have to do something on Monday's. Supergirl might hurt TO/Jane combo.
ReplyDeleteCBS gives kudos to Fox for #Empire but says #NCISNewOrleans was actually more watched. #CBSUpfront #Upfronts2015
ReplyDeleteHaha and they even sa Madam Secretary is hit
I'd rather it was on Mondays at 10 instead.
ReplyDeleteWow that's interesting... Is the movie good I've never watched it
ReplyDeleteNo network has really wowed me with schedules
ReplyDeleteUGH dont wanna wait for 2 broke girls :(
ReplyDeleteOriginals returning for the CSI finale! Awesome!
ReplyDeleteI'm quite surprised by this, didn't think it would have anything to do with the movie let alone have Cooper turn up.
ReplyDeleteWhy order it? It's in a position that it will bomb.
ReplyDeleteYep, they should've cancelled it
ReplyDeleteWaiting for mid season
ReplyDeleteAre they basing their definition of hit on viewers rather than demo? Maybe that explains all their renewals then.
ReplyDeleteSupergirl on a 8 pm on Monday talk about a shocker. Thought they give it a Wednesday slot.
ReplyDeleteLol cyber
ReplyDeleteIs Amazing race renewed for both fall and spring season, or only for the fall?
ReplyDeleteI'm really surprised to see SG go up against Gotham. I thought maybe it would go after the comedies leading into a 10pm Scorpion.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait how CW will counter that. Maybe iZ and Jane with the Crazy GF in midseason.
Anything to make themselves feel better right?
ReplyDeleteOh no. My DVR is never going to catch a break.
ReplyDeleteIt was rumoured ages ago that he'd appear in the pilot but I'm surprised he's going to recur.
ReplyDeleteHmm, not sure about this. They must have faith in Supergirl to launch it at 8. Limitless vs Quantico, I already dread this. I want to root for both but I'm not sure both can survive. Code Black at Wendesday is likely dead. Elementay staying at Thursday is pretty stupid, just like Nashville on ABC. And why renew CSI: Cyber to bury it on Sundays? It also feels weird to see Ted Danson join the cast.
ReplyDeleteThey're holding 2 Broke Girls, M&M and The Odd Couple until (when?!), and yet Amazing Race, Madam Sec and CSI Cyber make the Fall sked????!!! MADNESS!
ReplyDeleteNBC will finally win at something with Chicago PD at Wednesday at 10.
ReplyDeleteWhile I won't be watching Supergirl, if Limitless had been at 10 on Mondays that would have been an amazing line-up. I'm surprised they didn't do that.
ReplyDeleteDoes CBS really expect CSI Cyber to pan out on Sundays?
ReplyDeleteI'm having a major problem at 10:00 on Tuesdays. Quantico, Limitless, and Chicago Fire. Don't know how I will juggle all of these show.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what they're going to do versus Gotham and Supergirl. The Flash has a solid fan base but I like it on Tuesday's.
ReplyDeleteWell limitless is beginning in November so hopefully it gives Quantico the time to build an audience although Quantico is pretty screwed already getting the Tuesdays at 10 slot it will need some serious hype to premiere big and maintain it.
ReplyDeleteI can't really remember it, but as far as I remember it was pretty enjoyable, yes.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what will happen with 2 Brokes Girls and Mike & Molly. Midseason?
ReplyDeleteSupergirl on Mondays at 8 is surprising, didn't actually see that coming, but it may be what the night needs. It will be interesting to see how it clashes with Gotham, I wonder if DC has an issue with that.
Sundays are going to be bleak, the ratings will be less than stellar, and that's me being nice
What makes you think Limitless is premiering in November?
ReplyDeleteThis is a bad schedule. Elementary has no business whatsoever staying on a weekday, TAR had no business being on the fall schedule, putting Limitless after NO is ridiculous and why renew odd couple not to air it? Where are the broke girls?
ReplyDeleteThe issue is they will find a hard thing to skew good there. iZombie will maybe be the best solution as it has the Rob Thomas followers and skews them. Gotham and Supergirl skew nerdish so U don't know what to really put there.
ReplyDeleteThere is also TOC, although I am not really sure if it will ever again air in the regular season
ReplyDeleteWhere does it leave 2BG and M&M?.
ReplyDeleteAnd Ciber on Sundays. It will do worst.
Supergirl on Mondays at 8 it's actually really good. Mondays donthave that much competition, only the Voice.
I hope MS get a quick pull. Interesting that TD joins Cyber. They weren't joking about a retool. No 2BG, MM (expected) or TOC? CBS is holding a lot back. Elementary still on Thursdays? I just can't.
ReplyDeleteangel from hell will sure get cancel!
ReplyDeleteI actually have NBC winning three 10 PM timeslots, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
ReplyDeleteBlindspot will easily top Castle and NCIS: LA. Limitless will completely stall Quantico and Best Time Ever should top both to start, and Chicago PD will top Nashville/Code Black. I really think that Nashville will come in second at 10 PM.
hahaha same!
ReplyDeleteI wonder the same thing. They leave hanging M&M last season and put it after one of teh comedies got cancelled but Supergirl is taking their timeslot. I dont get what they are trying to do.
ReplyDeleteGina Rodriguez said that Jane The Virgin will return in October.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's pretty bad.
ReplyDeleteI think if international sells saved Cyber it should have been held for midseason. Or if they really want to air 22 episodes, then open a spot for it on Fridays or send Elementary to Fridays. There were better ways to deal with this than this schedule which has several issues:
ReplyDeleteSundays are going to be terrible, but we all knew that. Thursdays at 10 will keep doing bad. Limitless chances are based on name recognition only, and I'm not too confident about the new comedies, at some point either 2 Broke Girl or Mike & Molly will have to replace at least one of them on Thursdays which begs the question: where is the other one going to go?
This is pretty funny.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/JarettSays/status/598482463267106816
I expect either 2 Broke Girls or Mike & Molly replacing it
ReplyDeleteIs she serious?
ReplyDeleteI think so.
ReplyDeleteNice that CBS gave the original "alphabet" show a proper sendoff inviting the original CSI team members back for a special finale!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised that Cooper is going to recur on Limitless. I knew he was an executive producer, but let's be honest.... that title can be completely honorary a lot of the time! XD
I was wondering which sitcom would get the prime Big Bang Theory lead-in.... Life in Pieces it is!
CBS may have renewed 22 shows, but they might be giving a signal by pushing so many of those renewals back to mid-season premieres!
Interesting schedule overall...
i cant stand Jane
ReplyDeleteHow rude
ReplyDeleteLoL! Seems like DC wants to burn of both shows. ^^
ReplyDeleteInteresting schedule. I think, the most important question now is: which show will have the post-Super Bowl slot?
ReplyDelete*facepalm*
ReplyDeleteI think she just wanted to ignore the fact that they are both DC comics. Even if Bruce Wayne isn't batman yet, the clash between two products of the same company is pretty evident
Person of Interest mid-season? Or potentially Summer? IF it is the final Season and the 13 episode order sticks, it could be a good thing. IE an uniterrupted run
ReplyDeleteAll CW shows return in October, for a couple of years now.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I was wondering. I didn't see it anywhere online. And CBS usually doesn't do later starts.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure you aren't thinking about Chicago Fire?
I was completely surprised in the best way possible (regarding Bradley Cooper). Another incentive to watch the show :)
ReplyDeleteMoving TBBT to Monday only makes sense if it is to prop up something new that is going there. Last year it made sense to prop up Scorpion. This year it would make sense either to further prop Scorpion or to launch a new comedy that was going to remain there. Moving it, damaging it, just to prop up the comedy that will get the benefit of airing after it on Thursdays anyway is a mind blowing wrong schedule move.
ReplyDeleteThey are making it way too easy on ABC.
So, as expected, Person of Interest pushed to mid season. I hope all new CBS shows crash and burn. And may Cyber get obliterated in the ratings.
ReplyDelete*Don't judge me. I am salty after what they did to POI*
I doubt DC is happy about this
ReplyDeleteI agree, both DC properties shouldn't be airing alongside one another, they must be quite annoyed) I mean look at them making Arrow remove characters so that they can be used solely for Suicide Squad (Deadshot).
ReplyDeleteAgreed, but I honestly would not call Gotham a "superhero" show either. Comic-based? Sure, but not a superhero show.
ReplyDeleteI know a few people that watch it and enjoy it that will not even try a hero show.
They did the same thing last year.I believe the move to Mondays is so that they can accommodate Thursday night football. Once it ends TBBT moves back to Thursday.
ReplyDeleteBe happy they even gave it a fifth season! XD
ReplyDeleteYes, but last year it had a clear purpose: prop up Scorpion. It made total sense. This year, what is the goal? TBBT could run uninterrupted on Thursdays the entire year and reverse the damage it had this year.
ReplyDeleteOuch!!!
ReplyDeleteBut still it's tough with so many DC shows coming up. But there were other spots and a different way to answer this question.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely :)
ReplyDeleteIf Code Black tanks early, I'd expect it Wednesdays at 10 PM.
ReplyDeleteI think CM spin off is going there when Code Black tanks.
ReplyDeleteand a little blurb at the end of the finale said new episodes return in the fall. So it's definitely a fall show and not midseason/summer.
ReplyDeleteIt feels like one of those years where every network is just going through the motions...
ReplyDeleteSome shows will be "hits" I'm sure. but none jump out at me as natural #1 new shows like normal. Overall to me it feels like a lot of the new shows are just placeholders until something better comes along. Sad to say.
Schedules:
ReplyDeleteABC>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>FOX>CBS>NBC
Stop playing with my emotions, CBS.
ReplyDeleteIf it eases your mind, I'm at best 50/50 that Chicago Fire will land Tuesdays at 10 PM. They can't be serious with The Mysteries Of Laura Wednesdays at 8 PM.
ReplyDeleteChicago Fire is the one that isn't returning until November due to NPH's variety show.
ReplyDeletehttps://twitter.com/Bradley_STV/status/598482104842907648
ReplyDeleteJust sayin...
ReplyDeleteAs much as I have issues with the show the past year or so, I'm glad it is getting a chance to go out on its own terms with foreknowledge of it being the final season going into production.
"CBS’s highest-rated 18-49 drama, CRIMINAL MINDS, which grew its audience this year" THEN WHY DO YOU KEEP F-CKING UP WITH IT, CBS? SHOW SOME RESPECT FOR YOUR BEST PERFORMER!
ReplyDeleteCB is not tanking anything. Hush hush away bad thoughts. ^^ JK! ;-)
ReplyDeleteThe thing is Nina obviously dodged the question by saying Gotham is not super hero show, which may be the case, but I think the question went directly about how this conflict of interest between two DC comics based shows are now in the same timeslot
ReplyDeleteCriminal Minds is not their highest rated drama. Are they high?
ReplyDeleteThey said NCIS NO did better than Empire, so probably yes
ReplyDeleteBehind the NCIS block ain't a bad place to be.
ReplyDeleteThey are using the totally irrelevant total viewers metric there so at least I can see where they are coming from as ridiculous as it is, but here I have no clue.
ReplyDeleteSolid choice. Although if Supergirl struggles early (which I think it will), I have a quick schedule of Scorpion/NCIS: LA/Criminal Minds Beyond Borders. That way, they can try to pick up some ground at this timeslot.
ReplyDeleteLimitless should skew young and NO skews ancient, the pairing makes no sense. The 10pm hours should have been Limitless | Code Black | Rush Hour or Beyond Borders | NCIS LA
ReplyDeleteYeeeeah CSI will get a end with both Petersen and Helgenberger back ! I'm glad Ted Danson is joining CSI as D.B Russell too !
ReplyDeleteThey are both superhero shows, but I think tonally they are quite different and will skew as such.
ReplyDeleteYes this was not directed to you, it's just weird that CBS is lying like that.
ReplyDeleteI think they handled the end of CSI rather respectfully *glares at NBC for how they ended the L&O mothership.
ReplyDelete
