Castle - Dead From New York (150th Episode) - Advance Preview

May 4, 2015

Castle and Beckett watching Carly Rae Jepsen's performance on Saturday Night Tonight.

Airing this Monday is the penultimate episode of season 7 of Castle. Not only that, but it is also the 150th episode of the show, something which is considered a landmark for TV shows. The episode is written by Terence Paul Winter, a writer who has given us episodes like "Veritas" and "Once Upon a Time in the West". Other than being the 150th episode, there is nothing that special about this installment of Castle. It features a plain old murder, which has no ties to the mythology of the show, but that mythology will be addressed in the next episode which is the season finale. However, the episode itself is still quite enjoyable.

The murder victim in this episode is Sid Ross, the creator of a Saturday Night Live-esque show called "Saturday Night Tonight". This case takes Castle and Beckett to the world of Saturday Night Tonight, a show which has been on air for 35 years, and which they have both watched growing up. While solving the case, they share their fond (and not so fond) memories of the show with each other and also happen to meet some of their favorite comedians from the show. It also allows them a chance meeting with Carly Rae Jepsen (see sneak peek of the scene here), who is the musical guest in this week's episode of the show. As always, the reason behind the murder is not as simple as it appears and we delve deeper into the personal and professional life of the victim.

Meanwhile, at home, Martha's preparations for her Broadway show are in full swing, something which happens to be inconvenient for both Castle and Beckett. However, Martha maybe hiding how she is really feeling about being on Broadway after so long.

Below are some teasers and dialogues from the episode.

Teasers
- Beckett sees Martha's strange acting ritual for the first time.
- Beckett comes face to face with a fan of hers, who has been following her career.
- Prepare to see Castle getting jealous.
- Beckett has a strange realization about herself.
- The episode has a really sweet and touching scene between Castle and Martha.
- We find out something else which may or may not have played a part in Beckett becoming a detective.
- Keep an eye on what's happening in the background.

Dialogue Teasers
- You are just realizing this now?
- I am a cop and a model, so I know when someone is lying to me...
- Be honest, when you vowed for "for better or for worse", you had no idea what you were agreeing to, did you?
- How do you fight crime and keep your hair like "that"...
- I don't know whether we should be flattered or offended.
- Are you a fan?
- Is he dead?
- Yeah, I know, It sounds like one of their comedy sketches, right?

Dead From New York airs this Monday at 10/9c on ABC.

  1. It doesn't sound season finale material or series finale if all doesn't go well for a Season 8.

  2. That's because it isn't the season finale. There is another episode after this one.

  4. This is disappointing for a 150th ep. Didn't someone say that there'll be some Beckett mythology involved in this?

  7. I too feel that the season finale does not sound condusive to a series finale...let it be announced that Stana is returning!!

  8. TVLine first reported that but it turned out not to be true.

  9. Happened upon a site earlier by accident that posts updates on channels. Small item under ABC's news that Castle will be returning for 24 episodes & Stana's contract should be settled by Tues. Should know all by end of week. Just hope it's all true! Lately so much going around.
