“Arrow” showrunner Marc Guggenheim admitted that “there’s a lot of desire on everyone’s part” to bring the character into the shared DC TV universe he created with Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti, telling Variety, “It would be wonderful and we certainly have a million ideas — it’s hard for me to say mainly because A: it’s not my decision to make and B: with ‘Constantine’ being shopped around to other networks… it’s really hard to make plans when a show’s kind of in limbo.”
Even The Arrow himself, Stephen Amell, was seemingly pushing for a crossover between the two properties before NBC swung the ax. During a recent panel at Wizard World Philadelphia Comic Con, Amell spoke about the interconnected nature of the DC TV universe.
While John Constantine would arguably be a natural addition to the “Arrow” universe given the comic book character’s familiarity with supernatural phenomena, Guggenheim cautioned that, “a lot of the pieces are in place, except for that one final piece, which is what’s the fate of ‘Constantine’? That’s the tricky thing. But it comes up in the writers’ room constantly — we have a number of ideas, one idea that’s particularly exciting to me. We’re in a little bit of a wait-and-see mode, like you guys are.”

That's actually exciting!
ReplyDeleteOh god, no!
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed! I would watch the hell out of Constantine if it is saved somehow.
ReplyDeletePLEASE PLEASE PLEASE (please please please)
ReplyDeleteZed and Chas too, please!
ReplyDeleteI love how everyone is trying to save the show, Great to hear that it has this huge support behind it, not many shows deserve that kind of support but this one certainly does.
ReplyDeleteConstantine really got dealt the worst card with its friday slot and Grimm as a lead in
Mhm, mhm. I understand. Mhm. So to conclude "please"?
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I really wanted to get into Constantine, but didn't when I heard it was probably getting cancelled.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds awful. The two shows are so, SO incompatible. Also, stop launching/investing in other shows through Arrow.
ReplyDeletePossibly lol. But season one of Constantine in my opinion, was great. And with the Lazarus Pit — Marc could make it work. He is such a talented writer and I can e n v i s i o n it so seamlessly! (!!!!!)
ReplyDeleteWell, not anymore. The Flash got sci-fi elements while Arrow is heavy with fantasy elements as of recently, with the Lazarus pit being a thing now Constantine showing up doesen't sound like that much of a stretch.
ReplyDeleteThe crossover could be in Arrows realm of fantasy, John shows up in Starling and helps Oliver to find out about the Lazarus pits origin
LOL he's to blame for this season's mess.
ReplyDeleteSeason one was outstanding BUT
ReplyDeleteMark really messed up this season of Arrow, talented? Maybe. Showcasing it right now? Certainly not
Well you couldn't blame them since Flash,it's spin-off is able to pull 1.2-1.5 ratings enough to tie/beat with shows from the big 4 networks. Constantine's characters are old though so I don't think it goes well with the CW crowd. Also their schedule is already full so this might not happen at all.
ReplyDeleteGod NO!!!...I would prefer if another network picked this up.Please NO!
ReplyDeleteEither way, I think we will have Constantine on Arrow somehow, and I love that.
ReplyDeleteHeck, even if no network picks up the show, we will have Matt Ryan being John here and there in the rest of the DCTVU
True, true. Idk. I felt like season three started off really strong, and then got convoluted after Oliver died.
ReplyDeleteAwesome. Just f*cking awesome.
ReplyDeleteMagic and powers are already a thing in arrow and it shares the same universe with Flash.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Vixen already is bringing in the supernatural. I'm excited for the opportunities in the DCTVU. Marvel proved that you can have different tones on a shared universe, and it makes me so in the idea of the CW shows growing together.
ReplyDeleteEspecially if Darhk has something to do with the Pit, considering his age (and I believe they've mentioned him as having a pit or something).
ReplyDeleteGrimm isn't a bad lead in though. It's solid does well on Friday and has a fan base of a similar interest. It got the worst deal though true.
ReplyDeleteGrimm was able to premiere with 2.1 ratings on Friday. I remember people were mocking it at the time saying it's a flop yet here we are now 4 Seasons under it's belt. It didn't even have a comic following yet it managed to survive. Look who's the flop now?
ReplyDeleteI believe that is kinda what Stephen Amell wanted the crossover to be.
ReplyDeleteConstantine shows up and demands that Oliver hand over the Lazarus Pit and they come into conflict over it. In part because Constantine shows up out of nowhere and Oliver can't trust him.
Don't worry I don't think they would since their schedule is already full. CW's upfronts is on May 14 so will now if they ever pick this up. Good luck.
ReplyDeletesame
ReplyDeleteIt would be so awesome if The CW picked up Constantine. I know they have no room, but they could bring it as a summer show and have some crossover episodes in which Constantine comes to the Flarrow universe and vice-versa. It would be incredibly awesome!
ReplyDeleteIf Constantine gets picked up somewhere, I'll defenitely watch, especially if it gets on The CW roster
However Grimm had time to establish its own fanbase, premiering something on a friday night isn't a smart move by any means.
ReplyDeleteThis one of those things that sounds cool at first, but the more I think of it the less I like the idea.
ReplyDeleteMaybe a short 3 to 5 episode arc on Arrow? Better yet...
Maybe Constantine could take on a Dr Strange kind of role (mixing comic universes I know) dealing with all things mystical and occult for the makeshift Justice League on Legends of Tomorrow?
Honestly though it feels like another distraction or tangent to pull Arrow away from what made it so good the first two years.
Premiering something on a friday is a bad decision altogether, Grimm premiered on thursday nights. Unlike Constantie wich got the raw end of the deal
ReplyDeleteThe love and support Constantine has received has been spectacular.
ReplyDeleteI'm so anxious for Vixen (btw. Canary is supposed to appear as well :D) to finally premiere.
ReplyDeleteFinally the CWSeed is getting some great original programing (the only show on that web-network I considered top notch was Play it Again, Dick)
I'm really hoping for a DC-TV Boxset to be released once all is done including all DCU shows
Probably I would want Darhk to be more of a military villain. We had the mystical one this season, Darhk could (and should) deviate from this seasons set tone
ReplyDeleteThat could work, if the crossover worked by Arrows rules this could really be something to remember
ReplyDeleteUh it premiered on Friday not Thursday. It premiered on October 28, 2011 which is Friday. If it were CW I would've agreed with you since they put shows there to die/for syndication but it's NBC which has a bigger audience.
ReplyDeletePart of me thinks that wont happen since they didn't do it for the DCAU. Infact I'm still waiting for a box set of Static Shock and The Zeta Project. WB acts like they don't exist.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like something they say to cheer up fans and then nothing happens. I suppose there were some shows that ended with nasty cliffhangers so the writers promised a TV movie to end them properly and such projects don't last. :(
ReplyDeleteUgh I'm still waiting for that Samurai Jack movie they promised back in 2004.
ReplyDeleteIt will come...someday.
Same exactly
ReplyDeleteGrimm premiered on Friday against the World Series with 1.0 or so Chuck as lead-in, after no promotion and being an afterthought for NBC. It was widely considered a resounding success.
ReplyDeleteThere's a difference between animated show DVD releases and live action shows.
ReplyDeleteBut you're probably right. It won't happen :(
true theCW had its deathslot there. Hmmm, well the failure Constantine had is hard to explain tbh.
ReplyDeleteDon't think this could work well in Arrow, but guven that I hated this season im open to anything.
ReplyDeleteI have to wonder if some other countries where distribution is handled by a 3rd party might get something though.
ReplyDeleteTVD In Japan gets such better releases then we do. They get information booklets and necklaces and other stuff included.
Really? Didn't know that o.O
ReplyDeleteBut they're region locked so not in the cards for us anyway
That would be awesome!
ReplyDeletehttp://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B00D69CP28?keywords=The+Vampire+Diaries
ReplyDeleteComes with promotional cards, a necklace and a character booklet.
dayum, that's some sweet a** swag :O
ReplyDeleteWould love to have something like that, I'm a sucker for fancy DVD boxsets
There are a few options though:
ReplyDelete- You could buy a region free DVD player
- Buy the region blocked set and watch them on PC hooked up to TV
- Buy them and rip them or convert them to NTSC...
(A pain though I know)...
Dude, you arwe trying too hard.
ReplyDeleteLet it die.
I bet they are beggin CW to take the show.
I know, I got one but when I buy box sets its usually to enjoy the seasons in hi-def in the best way possible.
ReplyDeleteThere're a few foreign shows I bought for my region free player (some german sketch show called Switch, seriously...watch it. If you speak a little german you'll love it)
Yep, I hear you...
ReplyDeleteI only buy non-Region 1 stuff if there is no other option... so rarely.
It used to be mostly for live concert DVDs I guess.
Oh god that would be so sweet! I wouldn't leave my house for a month!!!
ReplyDeleteProbably will. It's HIVE not the league. I agree to should because seasons should differentiate themselves from each other. Like how in four Oliver will probably be Green Arrow.
ReplyDeleteTrue, but even right off the bat Grimm had pretty good numbers for the timeslot. Which is weird.
ReplyDeleteDont forget aliens with supergirl and legend of tomorrow in the universe
ReplyDeleteKreisberg said they want each season to feel like a new adventure, kinda like Buffy. So I'm hoping for that to happen.
ReplyDeleteProbably but if I'm not mistaken when Grimm started there was a massive drought going on for mystery shows.
ReplyDeleteIn fact I've got the first season box set for Grimm right next to me, never watched it...
For me its the other way around, I only buy region 1 box sets and at times buy some region 2 stuff (usually UK, german, french and italian DVDs) for the more....genre-y stuff. Some shows might lack subtitles but that's what I got my degree for amirite :P
ReplyDeletesince we're talking about DVDs already....any particular reason stv doesen't cover DVD/BluRay releases or informs us when something isn't coming out at all? Would be a section I'd really appreciate
ReplyDeletehttp://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Time-Season-4/21086
Maybe The CW will shock us all and announce they've saved Constantine at their presentation. Hey a guy can (and will) dream.
ReplyDeleteI believe we used to have a chart or something but I don't think it was popular. I'll let Darkufo know and see whats up.
ReplyDeleteYou should it's pretty good. Good cast, good mythology. Starts slow though.
ReplyDeleteWell that seems to be the pattern so far.
ReplyDeleteIf Supergirl is officially brought in.
ReplyDeletethanks, tell him I'd offer myself as contributer for that. I'm usually staying up to date about DVD/BluRay releases for shows anyway
ReplyDeleteSounds neat, I guess I'll bingewatch it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks btw. since its already on season 4 it's bound to be good
The EP said in a EW interview its in the same universe
ReplyDeleteNot entirely, season 1 and 2 felt like one story in terms of style and tone. Both villains had similar plans and executions. Meanwhile 3 feels tone wise unique compared to 1/2.
ReplyDeleteReally hoping for 4 to create its own style with similar uniqueness to this one (not a fan of this season BUT style wise I applaud their willingness to move the show away from urban street crimefighting to...this)
I just want Constantine saved, don't care how. I really enjoyed that show.
ReplyDeleteIT's kind of been an ad hock system with people reporting what they like or discover, but for a couple months there was one person posting about upcoming DVD releases exclusively. I think he got busy with school or work as I recall and the regular post disappeared.
ReplyDeleteI believe GA is suppose to crime fighter that patrols the streets of SC stopping any criminal......Oliver is believe to care about the small fish instead of big fish like Ra's and the league. Yes the buffy influence is there
ReplyDeleteDarhk being a military villain could be interesting......maybe HIVE owned company set up some private security force because of the failure of SCPD to prevent three terrorism attacks.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't clear.
ReplyDeleteI'm the same way for the most part. I buy Region 1 whenever I can and only buy other regions (non-Region 1) if that is the only format available.
Mostly UK or Scandi series, but with some Italian and German Even one or two Icelandic series I guess.. I need the subtitles though! I can understand some German, but not enough to get the details or nuances. Luckily most sets I have came with English subs or I found them online. Not a huge deal for me since I watch most everything through an HTPC anyway.
Didn't a show like Chuck survive because of the fan base?
ReplyDeletePlease don't. Just no. No. Nope. nope. Nope. Nope. (Shakes head rapidly)
ReplyDeleteYes but that was because they were able to launch a fan campaign to get Subway to take up the costs of much of the show.
ReplyDeleteThat'd be sick. Magic is already a thing, and John Constantine interacting with Oliver Queen? The snark would be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAlso heard the opposite from CBS.
ReplyDeleteNot to me. I'm not with you on this one. Sorry. Constantine needs to be saved first, get that out the way, before making crossover plans with a show that can no longer be crossed over with. I'm tired of all this crap. And I don't want to see it on Arrow. There's too much going on already.
ReplyDeleteToo much we have no idea about season 4 yet, and this could tie into Thea's effects.
ReplyDeletesure, he's a street level crime fighter but TV shows always tend to go bigger and more explosive. I doubt that season 4 will be smaller in scale.
ReplyDeleteI can't see Darhk being the big bad for season 4 either, remember so far Arrow has only featured DC powerhouse characters as big bads: Merlyn, Green Arrows arch nemisis -> Deathstroke, one of DCs biggest multi hero villains -> Ra's Al Guhl, Batmans 3rd nemisis
No way they're not going to up their game and use someone big
that would be indeed awesome, like the city being under siege by a military faction in a big-brother esque enviroment could be cool
ReplyDeletedepends on how the show will be doing. If it's a success for CBS they'll do everything to keep the universes appart and keep their piece of the cake, if it's moderate in ratings they might try it as a ratings stunt. If it's a failure they'll scrap the show after 13 episodes and never mention it again
ReplyDeleteWoud certainly be a shocker at the upfronts. Thursday can't come soon enough
ReplyDeleteHowever....I really can't see the CW squeezing in another show
I didn't even know that, so Community isn't the only show with a subway connection :P
ReplyDeleteYeah it's actually really unique, as the fans solely caused it.
ReplyDeleteWell if it is cancelled but does exist in the Flarrowverse she'll probably still guest once in a while.
ReplyDeleteprobably the only time fans actually changed something
ReplyDeleteAnd this is where I'm hoping DC actually does put their foot down.
ReplyDeleteYeah they're really crossing their signals with respect to that. They need to clear the air on that matter ASAP.
ReplyDeleteBRING HIM IN!!!!!!! PLEASE BRING HIM IN!!!!!!! and throw Chas and Zed in there too PRETTY PLEASE!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhen did you heard this the information i read came when the series got pick up they said they wont do a crossover anytime due to being on different network but the two networks is own by WB
ReplyDeleteAnytime soon forgot to the word in there
ReplyDeleteagree with you on this one...not only would it be just absolutely absurd, but Constantine needs much much work done to it first...writing, plot, and story needs to be completely revamped and supporting characters changed..even though Im an Arrow fan, it as well needs to find its footing on the direction its going...would be a complete disaster to even consider incorporating a black magic spiritual type of world into a show thats just now beginning connect the dots character wise...
ReplyDeleteOnly way I could see The CW squeezing it in would be if it gets the Agent Carter treatment.
ReplyDelete6-8 episodes from early Jan to late Feb to bridge the Arrow break. Then Arrow could take one less break later on in the season. However Flash would need something then too, otherwise they'll become disjointed again.
Nice. Constantine on CW would make CWverse "features-complete". The three branches of DC were always human strenght (aka..vigilantes without powers), which Arrow fills, then science (superpowers and supertechnology) which are being realized by Flash and Legends of Tommorrow and magic. Only the last branch is missing and there two characters stand tall above everything else - Constantine and Timothy Hunter.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks. Whilst I like Constantine, I dont see the need for all this crossover business. Constantine needs to be its own show and so does Arrow.
ReplyDeleteArrow is its own show. So is Flash, yet they crossover. A shared universe where they interact is no detriment to this. And who says Constantine will even exist next year?
ReplyDeleteI don't know if that would flow for me. Constantine may be in the DC universe but it's got quite a different feel than Arrow and The Flash.
ReplyDeleteI'm gonna be honest here I couldn't get past the pilot of Constantine. Not at all. (and i glanced a few episodes) BUT I did save all the episodes, I was going to catch up. THEN we just now find out it gets cancelled. So I JUST erased all 11 episodes off my DVR yesterday. Cause what's the point? Ya know? Anyways, now they want to try and save this show. Umm ok?? W/e You got it floating around networks trying to find it's landing. Do NOT put it in my freaking show. CW cannot afford to pick this up, and crossover over two networks??? Are you serious?? That's not going to work. And I'm sorry but I don't want to see this actor who plays John in my universe at all. Two totally different tones. No. I'm going to be completey turned off. As much as I love Arrow they have a lot of work to do for season 4. I'd like them to concentrate on the characters we have now and fix the mess that was season 3. Not promote a freaking Hellblazer for better ratings b/c Constantine's show went up in flames. (Pun not intended). If his show does not get picked up by ANYONE else, we should not be picking up his mess period. TPTB are trying way too hard. It's getting really ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteConstantine is gonna be forever or its gonna go down in flames. You can tell me when it's over and if the show was worth the pain. Got a long list of new shows they'll tell you they're insane but I got a blank space baby and Constantine it's your name .
ReplyDeleteStar Trek is the most infamous for it I think. The original was cancelled after 2 seasons but due to a massive worldwide letter writing campaign it was brought back for a 3rd season.
ReplyDeleteIt was cancelled again after the 3rd season but another massive worldwide letter writing campaign took place which led to the Animated Series.
Roswell I believe was also renewed for a 2nd and 3rd season due to people sending in Tabasco.
I thought the Arrow universe was going to remain grounded in reality. Not sure how Constantine would merge in.
ReplyDeleteYES too much! As in they need to just focus on Arrow and Flash. Not constantly take on other projects to keep promoting DC characters. Crossing them over, spinning them off, etc etc. They're taking on too much at once and everything will become one big mess. It's already a mess. By taking on all this crap, Arrow definitely needs work for season 4, as, let's face it this season was pretty lackluster.(Forgive me Arrow Cast) They took on Flash, great! Concentrated a lot on that, HOWEVER, even some of the crossovers they did just didn't work, and many fans kinda got over it quickly (b/c some felt forced and unnecessary) only wanting it if necessary. Not to mention the network completely f*cked up the scheduling thus screwing up our timeline completely, leaving fans confused like they're drunk in the street, scratching their heads asking which way is home. It was exhausting. When Flash became such a hit, they wanted to make another little spin off with this craptastic character Atom. Why b/c they got all gassed up over the success of Flash. This alone, they're already over their heads, b/c Atom alone was not going to bring in millions and millions of fans, so what do they do?? They bring in fan favorites, from their two previous shows, so this Legends of Tomorrow show can be watchable right?? Bring back Sara Lance from the dead, Victor Garber, Hawkgirl, probably Colton (if he's the one going to be in all three shows). A variety of others. Oh y. Of h and they promise more crossovers. NOW, how the hell are they going to handle all this properly when they couldn't even get it right after two-three spin offs with Arrow and Flash?? And that was only TWO shows, now they have three. On top of that you've got rumors floating around about Supergirl possibly having a crossover (from a different network), and the damn series hasn't even started yet, now you want to use Constantine too?? A show that's waiting in the wings, and literally has no network now??? WTF are they doing??? Nooo. It's too much!!!
ReplyDeleteNo, what they need to do is stay focused on Arrow, (Get it back on track), focus on Season 2 of Flash, and their new project LOT, and that is IT! They're trying way too hard, next thing you'll know they'll have Gotham on our shit after season 2 Plummets. UGH!
Slow hand clap? = /
ReplyDeleteNot gonna lie. That felt like an overreaction. He mentioned he wanted to do it. That means jack all as a statement. No finality, nothing. All the crossovers have been great besides 1x18 of the Flash. And Arrow hasn't been perfect, and not as good as two story wise, but really lacklustre is pushing it. And I like Ray and the new spin-off (which no one has seen yet) so this pessimism feels way too strong about a possible one episode guest star that probably won't even ever happen. Even if Arrow's quality is to do with the Flash (which at best is correlation not causation) I very much doubt the CW and the show runners wouldn't do it if they think they couldn't handle it given the passion they clearly have for these shows and the bringing in of a new co-showrunner in season 4.
ReplyDeleteLol ^_^ Nope just was waiting for someone to include flames In their post
ReplyDeleteNot overreacting at all. And I originally said they should wait to see if Constantine gets picked up before making all these wish lists. They have too much going on as I said. And I sure stand by it. CW cannot save this show. In fact i feel they shouldn't. (If it doesn't well, so be it) evan if it were Constantine's last resort, They wouldn't have room even if they wanted to. And you're telling me i'm overracting? I think that's calling the kettle black since you seem to be so gun ho about it. "He mentioned he wanted to do it. That means jack all as a statement. No finality, no nothing." Ok well if that's the case why even bother to get so excited about it?? If it's not going to happen there's no reason to be so optimistic about it. If i can get turned off by some wish list and you can get happy about one, then i don't see the issue. And if it's not going to happen (as you say) then what's the difference? I should be allowed to be turned off just as you are turned on. (No pun intended)
ReplyDelete"All the crossovers have been great besides 1x18" Ok but that's your opinion. You wouldn't believe how many people iI saw all over the internet getting frustrated after the third crossover, saying they were over it. (which i was very surprised about) Then you had others who didn't even watch both shows, they'd watch one or the other then have all these questions. (Which I personally found very irritating). It's not pessmistic it's realism, and your optimism is being clouded by the bigger picture. (and i'm sorry to say but a lot of fans are not as forthcoming towards Ray as you are, i've seen a lot of hate towards him and LOT, so i truly do feel it was necessary that TPTB bring in all those extra people, especially Sara b/c they knew they made a huge mistake killing her off. They wanted to make some type of smart move.) You want to fanboy over this fine, i'm not going to stop you, by all means, be my guest. But taking on too many projects, crossing over networks will be a big mess and you can't say "one episode." B/c IF Constantine got picked Back up and IF Marc actually wanted to make it happen, I think it's pretty fair to say we all know them by now and in THIS universe, there is no such thing as "one episode guest star."
"I very much doubt the CW and the Show runners wouldn't do it if they think they couldn't handle it." Well i I beg to differ as you see how screwed up the second half of both shows turned out. (With scheduling and timelines)
I like Arrow (the mess that is season 3 aside), but if this happens I might drop the show instantly. Keep Arrow grounded!
ReplyDeleteThey changed their minds after Flarrow
ReplyDeleteAnd what's next? Him appearing on the Flash? Hell no. I don't want to see him near Barry or any of the Flash cast.
ReplyDeleteHell no
ReplyDeleteI rather have it dead
ReplyDeleteOk? Then you must be talking about the word b/c other than that, there were no "flames" involved in my post. So I'm a bit confused on what your whole rap was about, but w/e. It was random. I can appreciate random.
ReplyDeleteThe way he treats women he will twist any woman who is brought on to the show and you can say no to John bisexuality the way he treats that on Arrow
ReplyDeleteBut the meta humans on flash have a pseudo scientific explanation for their existence. Bringing angels, demons and magic onto the canvas seems odd. DC has never crossed these guys over into the Constantine universe have they?
ReplyDeleteHell no. I agree it should be brought to CW, but beyond that is out of the question. Certain things in the DC Universe should stay the comics. Here on Arrow they have barely scratched the surface of Oliver Queen's origin story and they want to enter Constantine that will never work. Not to mention the way The Flash is working out now and the way they will enter the time travel in the end of the season. Without being able to produce Superman, Batman and a lot of the others big names i don't see the point of Constantine being part of it.
ReplyDeleteI love Arrow. I love Constantine too. But both together. No. I hope not. I would be happy if CW picks Constantine up next season. Maybe a summer show? But crossovers with other Flarrow shows. I don't want that. IMO it won't fit well. If it happens I hope it is a small cameo like FIRESTORM one this season on Flash.
ReplyDeleteAlso my main reason is I don't want Arrow to concentrate on any other recurring heroes in season 4. A recurring main villain. Yes. But they need to concentrate on their regulars. Give them all good character development. I don't want another Ray, Sara(I love you bb) situation.
Lazarus Pit is now in this world and that was the planned way in for Constantine anyway.
ReplyDeleteWell, I wrote a spec script for season 3's mid-season return a couple of months ago which had Raven drawn to Starling after Oliver's "death", which was a potential tie-in for the Teen Titans TNT show and which would eventually lead to Constantine coming as well because of an increase in supernatural disturbances - so I would actually be very interested to see how Constantine plays out in the Arrow world. Weird how that turns out - if it does ever.
ReplyDeletejesus, why? because Constantine was cancelled? they want to bring him.. yeah, no mention of Superman etc.. but wee need Constantine.. no!
ReplyDeleteConstantine started out in the mainstream DC Universe through guest apperances in 'Swamp Thing' and snuck around pulling strings from the shadows as Crisis on Infinite Earths played out (running into Batman a couple of times and messing around with Arkham Asylum). Once the Vertigo brand was launched he migrated there for the Hellblazer comic. The Vertigo world was always considered separate from the "main DCU" and he wasn't seen too often (but popped by Hal Jordan's funeral). He reappeared at the end of Blackest Night/Brighest day though and as of The New 52 the character is fully part of the main universe again.
ReplyDeleteOh. Excellent point.
ReplyDeleteWell, glad you agree with me.
ReplyDeletethank you for that info. I read Crisis on Infinite Earths but when it came out. I don't remember Constantine from there.
ReplyDeleteNah. He was only shown in the Crisis related issues of Swamp Thing.
ReplyDeleteAh. That explains it. I was never a Swamp Thing reader. It took a really long time for me to get a taste for the other types/genre of stories that comics told. And when I made that discovery it was V and Preacher that grabbed my attention.
ReplyDeleteV for Vendetta and Preacher are masterpieces. You've got good taste. If you want to explore more of what Vertigo offers I heartily recomend Transmetropolitan, Y the last man and of course the biggest of them all Neil Gaiman's Sandman.
ReplyDeleteWe do have excellent taste
ReplyDeleteLol it's a taylor swift song not a rap
ReplyDeleteYes we do. ; )
ReplyDeleteyessss!!! please make it happen :))
ReplyDeleteIs that what that was? Lmaoooooo. I actually like Taylor. But I'll admit, I haven't listened to her (or the radio) for a while.
ReplyDeleteLol blank space I just like changed The lyrics sort of lmfao omg im so random
ReplyDeleteIts cool. I'm really random myself, so I get it. No worries.
ReplyDeleteLOVED Sandman. I will definitely look into Transmetropolitan and Y the last man. Thanks for the recommendations.
ReplyDeleteShannon it's a possible crossover not a commitment to running a fourth show, so yes assuming it will derail the timeline and somehow shatter quality of Arrow and the Flash is too much. I see the big picture. I see the timeline problems people have, I get and agree it's an issue (though I can usually work out when they're intended to take place so it's not really a problem for me). Probably for the same reason all those actors are vouching for Constantine, as a show of solidarity and to save it. But even then I very much doubt the writers will repeat the same timeline mistakes that people fear since they clearly see them (as shown by Guggenheim's recent interview), and will resolve to make sure that they accommodate better to ensure they don't happen again. Difference is I'm excited at the possibility, but recognize it'll never happen probably and the issues that go along with it, but don't assume anything definite or the worst because Guggenheim merely expressed a desire. He's also expressed a desire to make Supergirl part of the universe, but we all know CBS doesn't really want that.
ReplyDeleteThe idea sounds cool, but I'd prefer he just do Arrow. If it ever happened.
ReplyDelete1) You already know I'm a Marvel girl, and You're DC, so i'm not even going to touch that.
ReplyDelete2) I'm not going to get into this with you. Especially since i just saw the new headline posted. Which turned me off altogether. I'd rather not take my anger out on you. So i'm putting a pin in this.
That's probably a good idea.
ReplyDeletemmhm
ReplyDelete
