How about no one? Make Season 7 like 12, 13 episodes to wrap the series up because when one of the trio leaves, it doesn't feel right. It just won't be the same without NIna or Delena. It still wouldn't be the same if Ian or Paul left either.
There is already enough female characters ( Caroline, Bonnie, Sarah, Jo, or Liv ) on the show the stories can go to. There is NO need to bring in an new characers to replace Elena.
I have no horse in this race since I no longer watch the show, but if they go that route I've always thought a few actresses can look somewhat like Nina Dobrev... - Alexandra Chando - Emmanuelle Chriqui - Italia Ricci - Victoria Justice Another I'm forgetting as well...
Personally if I were TPTB I would go a different route completely!
caroline as always been the second elena, with getting most of her ex-boyfriends and repeating her storyline. (in my opinion it feels like it). so I don't think they need to replace her and maybe focus a bit more on Bonnie?! She has been happy since Season 1!
IMO with Nina leaving, there shouldn't be anyone new cast as a new lead, to take her place. Kat Graham and Candice Accola have been on the show for six years and want to stay, they deserve to be in focus now, finally. (Especially Kat) Let Bonnie and Caroline be the new leads, there's no point of getting someone to be a "new Elena". Especially since both Bonnie and Caroline are better characters than Elena.
my idea of how elena leaves tvd: 1. she takes the cure and the final episode is all about how these group of immortal friends spend time with the now human elena as she goes through the trials and tribulations of her life. ie. finale will be a montage of the milestones in her life, her marriage (to matt?); her baby; her old age, and her death, so the finale will spand a massive 70 years roughly and season 7 starts with the group in the future after the death of arguably one of their most signficant friend/love. Final scene ends with 75 year old elena dying with friends around her as she voices her last diary entry.
This also honours her wish in season 2 of tvd that she doens't want to be a vampire, since back in s3 she was unknowingly forced down the cure by dr. meredith when she had that head concussion thing.
Twice in a month! ^_^ I'm on a roll! Hahahahah lmfao! I love both Caroline and Bonnie. Great actresses and love the potential their characters have. But I think a new girl is bound to happen. Personally I would like to see Leighton Meester or Jessica Lu, as I miss to watch them both on TV. Jessica had a couple of guest stints but she can do much more.
Sarah Salvatore already has this job. That is why they recast the character ( Gabrielle Walsh to Tristan Mays ) from the first Sarah. She'll be he 'new' Elena 'vibe'
It is kind of sad to be honest how mean and spiteful they are. It's like if we can't be 'happy' ( and enjoy the show going forward ) no one can so lets run it into the ground now.
For me Sarah doesn't have lead potential. But that is just me. She is fine and plays a nice role but is really bland and doesn't seem to have that potential. But maybe the writers prove me wrong.
She could be under acting. Maybe they don't want her to really bring her A game until this all starts to come out on screen and then we will be like WoW she's the shows new teen heroine well older and wiser Bonnie and Caroline are her mentors.

I honestly don't think they are set to become a couple ( that's Matt's job ) bu he will become her evil great ( x 10 ) uncle Lorenzo Salvatore. ( a third brother added into the mix would change the brother's dynamic like it did Piper and Phoebe when Paige came into the family and Prue died on Charmed or when Dawn was created as Buffy's never before seen sister on BtVS. )
Hold on, I am a Delena fan and find it incredibly insulting to be accused (or lumped in) of these things. There are people who make bad choices with their words and actions in every fandom and in the case of this show both 'ships'. There have been a lot of hate and rantings for the past few seasons from Stelena shippers so please don't act like it's a one sided case. I'd also like to remind you that Delena fans sat through multiple seasons of Stelena, so please don't act like you have been the only ones who haven't had your "turn" at the triangle.

Not really bring her A game? Please tell me you are kidding me. She should especially bring her A game if she is there to stay, to make a good/great first impression. She is sweet and I'm not saying she can't act just for me she doesn't fit the vibe of the show to be a leading lady.
I don't think Nina should be replaced. I have grown to loathe Elena but that's all about the writing and character development. They took what was once a very likable character and turned her into a whiny brat. I won't miss Elena one bit. That said, I will miss Nina playing flashback roles for Tatia and/or Katherine. She is a far better actress than the writing these past two seasons has shown.
As for the whole Damon/Elena mess, I'm soooo over it. I'm not a shipper but once felt that they were connected in a way that would be the end game. Bonnie and Damon have a better connection now and though I'm sure Damon will be crushed when Elena's gone, I think he and Bonnie can take comfort in each other.
I know that a lot of people say they won't continue watching TVD without Elena but the show isn't just about her. Caroline would shine if they would just let her and I think that her relationship with Stefan is far more interesting than his was with Elena. That said, it's all going to depend on the writing. They have great characters on this show that are underused because the focus was on Elena. With her gone, the show could be better.
I think bringing in somebody completely new would be a bad idea (see That 70's Show). I think they'll probably just bump up a couple of the recurring characters to regulars and shift everybody's focus up a little bit. Sarah and Kai would be obvious choices (although I'm not sure I could handle another "Everybody liked him as a villain so lets make him a regular and ruin him by making him good" scenario).
I don't think there is a need to recast someone to replace Nina. The story can can continu with Candice and Kat as lead female character for me. But if they really want to bring a new character , it has to be someone really different from Elena. Nobody want a copy of an old character, so it must be a character different physically & mentally . For that , I would choose between Crystall reed , Kaylee defer , or Stephanie jacobsen....
they already said they're shifting the focus to Stefan and Damon there won't be a new female lead/replacement/whatever unless they're planning another spin-off
They shouldn't replace her. It will be a wise choice to stick with the Salvatore Duo, continuing with their journey and bring them to a satisfying end. Let it be all about Defan once...
Damon killed her father Zach as well as her mother Gail well Stefan saved her life as a baby and has been watching over her for her entire her life so she'll likely love Stefan and hate Damon.
No one! No body swapping please! Cure her, wipe her memory and send her away to be happy and safe somewhere far away. Then shift the focus to the Salvatore family. I'd like to see this show survive this transition.
not that i think its the most creative idea but: elena should take the cure/be forced to drink it. damon should compel her away to protect her. then in the series finale (whether thats next year or in 5 years) she should come back and be like "fought through the compulsion because i love you blah blah blah." its not original, and in a way they kind of already did it, but killing her off or recasting or anything like that would just ruin the show for me.
I liked Stelena,sure but shipping-not so much like i ship CaptainSwan or Bellarke! Of course,i'm not putting all the delena fandom under one category but most of them are very rude,delusional & offensive to others-Non delena famdom.

you guys do realize if Lily becomes a regular, since the focus is on Stefan and Damon now, it would likely mean she will become a villain, forcing them to work together against her. either that or she'll cause a split between the two and side with one of them. I just can't imagine them drinking tea and reminiscing for an entire season.

This might be a little spoilery or might not mean anything but Nina was seen shooting on of her final scenes -it goes somewhat like this-Elena is reading some letter sitting on top of the car hood and sad.I have no idea if it's an actual scene or what.I saw the pic but looks like she will be not dying as many seem to think.Interesting thing was Damon was neither with elena Or the night group shoot i've mentioned before.I wonder where he is!
I never watched TVD but from what I've heard of it Elena is like the front and center of the show. I don't think that its a good idea to recast someone who's been like the front and center of a show for 6 seasons.
Nobody should replace her. This is their chance to focus on other characters for a final season. No more tearing apart relationships just to make Elena and someone else happen. I'd like to see the final season focus on Stefan and Damon's relationship. Everyone around them too, but it has to be a good end for the two brothers. To me Elena was never the focus of the story. It was always the Salvatore brothers.
How can you possibly have forgotten all the comments, mostly on vampire-diaries.net, where Stelena fans went nuts as Elena and Damon got closer and closer? And when Stefan and Elena broke up how the sky practically fell, courtesy of the same people? And when Delena actually happened how it started raining cats and dogs and threats and other nastiness - yep, from the same people? Delena fans had finally gotten what they had been hoping and praying for. Now the fight - because that was what it sadly had become - was really on. If you remember, it actually got to the point where the site moderators started deleting comments they felt were inappropriate, and begging people to please be respectful of each other!
I'm not claiming that no Delena fans never got in peoples' faces. I think there are intemperate people on any "side" and blame, if there must be any, can fall on both. But to say that MOST Delena fans are "very rude, delusional and offensive" to the non-Delena fandom is a very rude, delusional and offensive thing to say, IMO. If you say "most are" but "all aren't", that's damning with faint praise.
I think you're an intelligent, thoughtful and fair person and if that's your honest opinion you have a right to hold it. Those of us non-rude, non-delusional and non-offensive fans who have enjoyed Damon and Elena as a couple have nothing to apologize for. I wonder whether Nina's departure will put an end to this sniping so we all can move on. To tell you the truth, I'm afraid people will just find something else to b**** about. It's human nature.

I never thought of Sarah and Matt as a couple! Maybe. I've said before that I like the idea of Enzo being Stef and Damon's half-brother, but we need to know how old he was when he was turned - and by whom. It revolves around whether Lily is his mother or his sire. Enzo might be more useful - for Sarah anyway - if he were not a Salvatore blood relation. I too keep imagining the dramatic possibilities of a new Salvatore brother but then I think - no, it should stay just Stefan and Damon.

I personally love the idea of a 'new' brother for Damon and Stefan as well as Matt and Sarah together. We know that Damon was born in 1839 / Stefan in 1846, Lily 'died' in 1858, the brothers were turned in 1864 by Katherine, Damon & Stefan's half brother was born between 1861 - 1864, Lily was trapped in the prison world in 1903, Michael Malarkey is 31 years old, Ian is 36/Damon is 25/174 and Paul is 32 /Stefan is almost 18/166. Since Michael is 31 years old I'd say they will end up making Enzo the older brother age wise even though he was born last so he'll be between 26 and 31 making his 'turn date between 1886 - 1896ish. Making Enzo between 117 - 127 years old. ( someone feel free to check my math )
If lily was turned in the year 1858,Enzo(assuning he's lily's son)would have to born before that year coz vampires cannot procreate,so that makes the age a bit dubious.I'm certain he's older than both the salvatore brothers(vampire age).
Unless they change 'canon' it was already stated in 3x16 / "1912" ( by Damon to Rebekah ) that Zachariah's father/Damon and Stefan's half brother ( 'Enzo' ) was Giuseppe's son with their maid.
Truth be told I have for example seen some really annoying and disrespectful bamon fans on twitter as well, so all fandoms have their crazy people, but this just goes to show how utterly insane some "fans" can be, ugh.

No, I think it's not a good idea at all. Like you said, we have Bonnie and Caroline now, I hope that next season will mostly focus on these four strong main characters. And when it comes to having a human heroine that gets into trouble and needs to be saved, like Elena used to be back in the day, well that's imho one of the reasons why we got Sarah. Not that she's going to really replace Elena, just that element of a human heroine needing protection.

True. And that's a very good question indeed. It's only a crazy thought that has just popped in my head, but - what if that is because Damon has somehow ended up taking the cure, and is vulnerable because of it, so they didn't bring him along into a dangerous mission? That doesn't explain Elena's presence (if she is human as well), but are we sure it's a same location? Damon's camaro is fixed now, so can she be in present time?
If your theory ends up happening and they take the cure together, then it would make at least a bit sense...

I really think Damon will take the cure.It's a gut feeling,can't explain it.Or,maybe something bad has happened to him so the rest of the team is against a clock to save him.I'm guessing Elena & Bonnie is staying back with him to look after him.

Both is completely possible. I just can't think of what kind of a threat he would be in. Unless... unless they really want to make Lily a big bad for the next season, then maybe she's going crazy about something that she's left in 1903 and the fact that nobody wants to go back there, so she uses Damon's love for her, kidnaps him (with the help of her creepy vampire "family"?) and threatens to hurt him/kill him unless the gang goes back to 1903 to retrieve something dear to her. Coming to think of that, this imho doesn't sound that bad/unrealistic...
When it comes to Damon getting the cure - I really don't know. I absolutely wanted that to happen before the news of Nina's departure, I also found that pretty probable (since everybody was guessing Lily or Elena... and Damon WAS the original recipient for the cure), but that she's leaving... I don't know. I certainly wouldn't mind it, it would be nice to see human Damon, who would probably be naturally a bit less impulsive and self-destructive than his vampire self, all while keeping the humour etc. But I'm not sure whether they will go there, i.e. if they won't think that giving Damon his mother back, taking Elena from him and possibly giving him Bonnie won't be enough for a season.

I don't think so. The doppelganger was born every while cause Amara was still alive. Cause of her immortality the dp circle had to continue. I don't know if the Originals bond to the Amara doppelganger has part in it but I think it should stop with Elena no matter what.

there might not be any more new doppelgangers because Silas and Amara are dead. but vampire or not Elena and Stefan are still the last pair of doppelgangers, and their blood is still powerful. in any case I doubt they'll ever mention the word doppelganger again, Julie Plec is terrified of revisiting that story, she said herself in s6 everytime one of the writers had an idea that involved something to do with doppelgangers she said- no, don't go there.
Exactly! :) I wish it was at least next Thursday already... And it really does sound messy, perhaps they will really kill Elena after all... I originally thought that the cure is their way to make her leave permanently without having to kill her, but a big, epic battle without any casualties? That's like a dothraki wedding without at least a few deaths, LOL
That's disgusting, they should think about how they're portraying their fandom, as mean, spiteful people who obviously aren't fans of Nina as she has no value to them besides being one half of delena. I think a lot of these comments should be taken seriously, this is cyberbullying, and some people are so effected that they take their lives. Honestly I think that there should be some form of international law and the people that are so hateful should be permanently banned from the internet. It's getting so commonplace now and I think we all try to ignore it, when instead something (I don't know what though,) should be done.
I've never shipped stelena or delena, if anything I'm more defan, so I think Elena leaving will be great for them. You seem to be very nice, apart from the assumption that is people if aren't delena fans they must be stelena lol, but from what I'm seeing from the majority of delena fans in social media commenting is a lot of hate. And I don't think it's ok to accept such behaviour or brush in under a rug, what people are saying is serious and has consequences.
I know but for now,i can only hope this all change for better down the line!I am sad to think how bad the cast & crew must be feeling right now reading these hate posts!
That's what concerns me, and that it seems to be coming from a large group of people, so the more people that are acting this way I think the greater the toll it takes. Honestly one person leaving a job once their contractual obligation is filled does not deserve this carry on, I mean it's not like she was fired.
Ah, I can totally see it - some sort of a flashback scene with the guys, just so they can keep saying that he wasn't completely left from the season, haha. But seriously - what do they want to do with him? He has no SL or significance and as somebody who is semi-leaving, he probably won't get any new story now... That's kinda too little even for a guest appearance in about 2-3 episodes.
Frankly, as somebody who studies computer security and follows all the news on NSA spying etc., I think that all similar laws that were made originally made for good purposes eventually end up being used for evil anyway, this is how we get nasty censorship and internationally accepted loss of freedom...
Internet can be a mean, vicious place sometimes :( And I really hate seeing what is happening with the TVD "fandom" (since I don't see these assholes who are incredibly cruel to people behind TVD as real fans anyway). Instead I would propose banning this people's accounts on Twitter/other social media. If done correctly (banning their IP as well) it will effectively shut these idiots up (since haters usually aren't smart enough to bypass even these basic security measures) and make everyone more happy in result.
That sounds like a really good idea. It's trying how this stuff is on the rise and the more common it's becoming the more desensitized we are to this kind of cruelty.
I partially blame Julie for this - she kept paying way too much attention to people's opinions on social media. And even when they weren't sensible at all and were rather loud&mean, she kept enabling them even further by making every of their wishes come true, whether it hurt the story or not. So people got used to the idea that being loud and annoying on Twitter gets rewarded when it comes to TVD. No wonder that Nina's departure one-upped the game and turned this into social civil war...

This is so true - it's shocking how these ultra-haters don't care about the story, the actors, they don't even really care about Nina's departure, all they care about is keeping delena alive. No matter what. And even delena seems to be more of and idea they desperately cling to, than their honest interest in Damon's and Elena's well-being...
I think that by the end of next season most if not all the actors will be leaving the show for other acting gigs. The networks usually sign actors to a standard 7 season contract so unless the ratings really suffer I believe next season will be the final one.
1. They had 6 season contracts, actually. 2. 7th season is officially confirmed 3. IMHO Ian, Paul, Kat and Candice, all of them will have a better position in the next season, more spotlight and chances to show how great actors they really are... so unless the ratings will be disastrous, I can see season 8 as a real possibility as well
Great point :) Hadn't thought of it that way at all. Certainly TVD is the only show, I think, that I watch where the show runner catered so much to one particular subset of the fans.
He went AWOL from time to time for long duration starting from season 1 as far as i remember-I think Tyler will get a job outside the town but he will keep in touch with his only buddy in town(TBH,i'm not exactly sure any of our characters care about him too much,you know)-Matt occasionally & then there's those Mystic falls special events.As long as it's nothing major,we can pretend he's not there at all!LOL!

At first I thought they are going to kill her but now I doubt that. S6 already started with everyone griefing because Damon and Bonnie died. Can you imagine how depressing it would be if Elena dies? They would either have to do a major time jump so everyone is kind of over it or the start of S7 would be all about Elena even if she is not there anymore..
I read that Penelope Mitchell was seen on the Jolaric wedding so maybe Liv will be back after all. But I got it from tumblr so I have no idea it it's true.
Seeing as how Jodi(Jo) confirmed that Elena will be her Maid of Honor in the wedding,i really don't think we'll see Liv.Why would she do that if she had her sister present?
I know, I don't really believe Liv is going to come back too and what I read about Penelope being on the set for the Jolaric is wrong but who knows. It's TVD .. it wouldn't suprise me if Elena would still be Elena's Maid of Honor even with Liv there. Maybe they thought she isn't coming but she shows up anyway
They had a casting call announcement a week ago or so saying that they needed lots of extras who will have to play dead and shouldn't be squeamish to get bloody. If my info is correct,This wedding would get very bloody!Be prepared!

To be honest I can - before when it seemed like Elena will stay, I thought that it would be really interesting to see how much human Damon differs from his vampire self, whether he would be less impulsive and self-destructive, more collected etc. And I also thought that human Damon would be even closer to Bonnie, not just because of both of them being mortal but mostly because of having even more similar personality then. I think that what Damon feels for Elena is among other things a really strong passion, passion that being a vampire feeds even further. But without his emotions being heightened, I could see him eventually getting even closer to Bonnie and her being his solace, the one who understands.
I don't get all of the anger. It's been rumored since the beginning of the season that one of the three main characters didn't want to continue past this season. It was just a wait and see game on which one it was. Regardless who left it would've changed the dynamic of the show. That said, I'm thinking rationally and maybe others aren't.
I don't know there have been shows where actors have quit which has upset me to the point where I'll stop watching but I've never organised a petition to cancel a show (that's petty to try and get people fired) or spewed endless amounts of hate on social media. I understand being upset and disappointed but not the rest. I also heard the rumours but I read an article sometime this season where JP made comments about the end of the show and alluded to it having somewhat the same ending as what they envisioned in S2 even if all the current cast members weren't present. Makes me now think that there was never going to be a stelena or delena ending that both were going to be sacrificed for defan which suits me just fine. If so all this outrage over ships losing their endgame pairing could very well be ridiculous.

Kat Graham and Candice Accola have been on the show for six years and want to stay, they deserve to be in focus now, finally. (Especially Kat) Let Bonnie and Caroline be the new leads, there's no point of getting someone to be a "new Elena". Especially since both Bonnie and Caroline are better characters than Elena.

ReplyDelete1. she takes the cure and the final episode is all about how these group of immortal friends spend time with the now human elena as she goes through the trials and tribulations of her life. ie. finale will be a montage of the milestones in her life, her marriage (to matt?); her baby; her old age, and her death, so the finale will spand a massive 70 years roughly and season 7 starts with the group in the future after the death of arguably one of their most signficant friend/love. Final scene ends with 75 year old elena dying with friends around her as she voices her last diary entry.
This also honours her wish in season 2 of tvd that she doens't want to be a vampire, since back in s3 she was unknowingly forced down the cure by dr. meredith when she had that head concussion thing.

Personally I would like to see Leighton Meester or Jessica Lu, as I miss to watch them both on TV. Jessica had a couple of guest stints but she can do much more.

Hold on, I am a Delena fan and find it incredibly insulting to be accused (or lumped in) of these things. There are people who make bad choices with their words and actions in every fandom and in the case of this show both 'ships'. There have been a lot of hate and rantings for the past few seasons from Stelena shippers so please don't act like it's a one sided case. I'd also like to remind you that Delena fans sat through multiple seasons of Stelena, so please don't act like you have been the only ones who haven't had your "turn" at the triangle.

ReplyDeleteI don't think Nina should be replaced. I have grown to loathe Elena but that's all about the writing and character development. They took what was once a very likable character and turned her into a whiny brat. I won't miss Elena one bit. That said, I will miss Nina playing flashback roles for Tatia and/or Katherine. She is a far better actress than the writing these past two seasons has shown.
ReplyDeleteAs for the whole Damon/Elena mess, I'm soooo over it. I'm not a shipper but once felt that they were connected in a way that would be the end game. Bonnie and Damon have a better connection now and though I'm sure Damon will be crushed when Elena's gone, I think he and Bonnie can take comfort in each other.
I know that a lot of people say they won't continue watching TVD without Elena but the show isn't just about her. Caroline would shine if they would just let her and I think that her relationship with Stefan is far more interesting than his was with Elena. That said, it's all going to depend on the writing. They have great characters on this show that are underused because the focus was on Elena. With her gone, the show could be better.

I think bringing in somebody completely new would be a bad idea (see That 70's Show). I think they'll probably just bump up a couple of the recurring characters to regulars and shift everybody's focus up a little bit. Sarah and Kai would be obvious choices (although I'm not sure I could handle another "Everybody liked him as a villain so lets make him a regular and ruin him by making him good" scenario).

ReplyDeletenot that i think its the most creative idea but: elena should take the cure/be forced to drink it. damon should compel her away to protect her. then in the series finale (whether thats next year or in 5 years) she should come back and be like "fought through the compulsion because i love you blah blah blah." its not original, and in a way they kind of already did it, but killing her off or recasting or anything like that would just ruin the show for me.

I just saw the BTS pic of TVD season finale where mama salvatore,enzo,stefan & caroline are night shooting for a scene at the shipping doc with many giant shipping crate.Annie also teased there is secret hidden between those boxes.Point is,it's too early to assume anything as far as Lily is concerned.Let's just get to the crazy finale!

Nobody should replace her. This is their chance to focus on other characters for a final season. No more tearing apart relationships just to make Elena and someone else happen. I'd like to see the final season focus on Stefan and Damon's relationship. Everyone around them too, but it has to be a good end for the two brothers. To me Elena was never the focus of the story. It was always the Salvatore brothers.

And when Stefan and Elena broke up how the sky practically fell, courtesy of the same people? And when Delena actually happened how it started raining cats and dogs and threats and other nastiness - yep, from the same people? Delena fans had finally gotten what they had been hoping and praying for. Now the fight - because that was what it sadly had become - was really on. If you remember, it actually got to the point where the site moderators started deleting comments they felt were inappropriate, and begging people to please be respectful of each other!

But to say that MOST Delena fans are "very rude, delusional and offensive" to the non-Delena fandom is a very rude, delusional and offensive thing to say, IMO. If you say "most are" but "all aren't", that's damning with faint praise.
I think you're an intelligent, thoughtful and fair person and if that's your honest opinion you have a right to hold it. Those of us non-rude, non-delusional and non-offensive fans who have enjoyed Damon and Elena as a couple have nothing to apologize for. I wonder whether Nina's departure will put an end to this sniping so we all can move on. To tell you the truth, I'm afraid people will just find something else to b**** about. It's human nature.

I've said before that I like the idea of Enzo being Stef and Damon's half-brother, but we need to know how old he was when he was turned - and by whom. It revolves around whether Lily is his mother or his sire. Enzo might be more useful - for Sarah anyway - if he were not a Salvatore blood relation. I too keep imagining the dramatic possibilities of a new Salvatore brother but then I think - no, it should stay just Stefan and Damon.

ReplyDeleteWe know that Damon was born in 1839 / Stefan in 1846, Lily 'died' in 1858, the brothers were turned in 1864 by Katherine, Damon & Stefan's half brother was born between 1861 - 1864, Lily was trapped in the prison world in 1903, Michael Malarkey is 31 years old, Ian is 36/Damon is 25/174 and Paul is 32 /Stefan is almost 18/166.
Since Michael is 31 years old I'd say they will end up making Enzo the older brother age wise even though he was born last so he'll be between 26 and 31 making his 'turn date between 1886 - 1896ish. Making Enzo between 117 - 127 years old.

ReplyDeleteNo, I think it's not a good idea at all. Like you said, we have Bonnie and Caroline now, I hope that next season will mostly focus on these four strong main characters. And when it comes to having a human heroine that gets into trouble and needs to be saved, like Elena used to be back in the day, well that's imho one of the reasons why we got Sarah. Not that she's going to really replace Elena, just that element of a human heroine needing protection.

True. And that's a very good question indeed. It's only a crazy thought that has just popped in my head, but - what if that is because Damon has somehow ended up taking the cure, and is vulnerable because of it, so they didn't bring him along into a dangerous mission? That doesn't explain Elena's presence (if she is human as well), but are we sure it's a same location? Damon's camaro is fixed now, so can she be in present time?

Thanks for the pics. Yeah, where is Damon? Ian could have finished his scenes for the day/night, or Damon could be taking care of something somewhere else, I suppose. I just hope that letter is not a goodbye from Damon. That will throw all my speculation up in the air! Maybe it's not a scene but Nina was just off by herself reading her mail? LOL?

ReplyDeleteBoth is completely possible. I just can't think of what kind of a threat he would be in. Unless... unless they really want to make Lily a big bad for the next season, then maybe she's going crazy about something that she's left in 1903 and the fact that nobody wants to go back there, so she uses Damon's love for her, kidnaps him (with the help of her creepy vampire "family"?) and threatens to hurt him/kill him unless the gang goes back to 1903 to retrieve something dear to her. Coming to think of that, this imho doesn't sound that bad/unrealistic...
ReplyDeleteWhen it comes to Damon getting the cure - I really don't know. I absolutely wanted that to happen before the news of Nina's departure, I also found that pretty probable (since everybody was guessing Lily or Elena... and Damon WAS the original recipient for the cure), but that she's leaving... I don't know. I certainly wouldn't mind it, it would be nice to see human Damon, who would probably be naturally a bit less impulsive and self-destructive than his vampire self, all while keeping the humour etc. But I'm not sure whether they will go there, i.e. if they won't think that giving Damon his mother back, taking Elena from him and possibly giving him Bonnie won't be enough for a season.
If my info is correct(it always is)-Kai will break out of that prison & attack Bonnie & Damon.Let's just say The wedding will get messy & bloody.

I don't think so. The doppelganger was born every while cause Amara was still alive. Cause of her immortality the dp circle had to continue. I don't know if the Originals bond to the Amara doppelganger has part in it but I think it should stop with Elena no matter what.

there might not be any more new doppelgangers because Silas and Amara are dead. but vampire or not Elena and Stefan are still the last pair of doppelgangers, and their blood is still powerful. in any case I doubt they'll ever mention the word doppelganger again, Julie Plec is terrified of revisiting that story, she said herself in s6 everytime one of the writers had an idea that involved something to do with doppelgangers she said- no, don't go there.

I originally thought that the cure is their way to make her leave permanently without having to kill her, but a big, epic battle without any casualties? ReplyDeleteI think a lot of these comments should be taken seriously, this is cyberbullying, and some people are so effected that they take their lives. Honestly I think that there should be some form of international law and the people that are so hateful should be permanently banned from the internet. It's getting so commonplace now and I think we all try to ignore it, when instead something (I don't know what though,) should be done.
ReplyDeleteI've never shipped stelena or delena, if anything I'm more defan, so I think Elena leaving will be great for them. You seem to be very nice, apart from the assumption that is people if aren't delena fans they must be stelena lol, but from what I'm seeing from the majority of delena fans in social media commenting is a lot of hate. And I don't think it's ok to accept such behaviour or brush in under a rug, what people are saying is serious and has consequences.

Honestly one person leaving a job once their contractual obligation is filled does not deserve this carry on, I mean it's not like she was fired.

But seriously - what do they want to do with him? He has no SL or significance and as somebody who is semi-leaving, he probably won't get any new story now... That's kinda too little even for a guest appearance in about 2-3 episodes.

ReplyDeleteInternet can be a mean, vicious place sometimes :( And I really hate seeing what is happening with the TVD "fandom" (since I don't see these assholes who are incredibly cruel to people behind TVD as real fans anyway). Instead I would propose banning this people's accounts on Twitter/other social media. If done correctly (banning their IP as well) it will effectively shut these idiots up (since haters usually aren't smart enough to bypass even these basic security measures) and make everyone more happy in result.
That sounds like a really good idea. It's trying how this stuff is on the rise and the more common it's becoming the more desensitized we are to this kind of cruelty.
ReplyDeleteI partially blame Julie for this - she kept paying way too much attention to people's opinions on social media. And even when they weren't sensible at all and were rather loud&mean, she kept enabling them even further by making every of their wishes come true, whether it hurt the story or not. So people got used to the idea that being loud and annoying on Twitter gets rewarded when it comes to TVD. No wonder that Nina's departure one-upped the game and turned this into social civil war...

ReplyDeleteThis is so true - it's shocking how these ultra-haters don't care about the story, the actors, they don't even really care about Nina's departure, all they care about is keeping delena alive. No matter what. And even delena seems to be more of and idea they desperately cling to, than their honest interest in Damon's and Elena's well-being...
I think that by the end of next season most if not all the actors will be leaving the show for other acting gigs. The networks usually sign actors to a standard 7 season contract so unless the ratings really suffer I believe next season will be the final one.

Great point :) Hadn't thought of it that way at all. Certainly TVD is the only show, I think, that I watch where the show runner catered so much to one particular subset of the fans.
ReplyDeleteHe went AWOL from time to time for long duration starting from season 1 as far as i remember-I think Tyler will get a job outside the town but he will keep in touch with his only buddy in town(TBH,i'm not exactly sure any of our characters care about him too much,you know)-Matt occasionally & then there's those Mystic falls special events.As long as it's nothing major,we can pretend he's not there at all!LOL!

ReplyDeleteAt first I thought they are going to kill her but now I doubt that. S6 already started with everyone griefing because Damon and Bonnie died. Can you imagine how depressing it would be if Elena dies? They would either have to do a major time jump so everyone is kind of over it or the start of S7 would be all about Elena even if she is not there anymore..

ReplyDeleteTo be honest I can - before when it seemed like Elena will stay, I thought that it would be really interesting to see how much human Damon differs from his vampire self, whether he would be less impulsive and self-destructive, more collected etc. And I also thought that human Damon would be even closer to Bonnie, not just because of both of them being mortal but mostly because of having even more similar personality then. I think that what Damon feels for Elena is among other things a really strong passion, passion that being a vampire feeds even further. But without his emotions being heightened, I could see him eventually getting even closer to Bonnie and her being his solace, the one who understands.

ReplyDeleteI don't get all of the anger. It's been rumored since the beginning of the season that one of the three main characters didn't want to continue past this season. It was just a wait and see game on which one it was. Regardless who left it would've changed the dynamic of the show. That said, I'm thinking rationally and maybe others aren't.

ReplyDeleteI don't know there have been shows where actors have quit which has upset me to the point where I'll stop watching but I've never organised a petition to cancel a show (that's petty to try and get people fired) or spewed endless amounts of hate on social media. I understand being upset and disappointed but not the rest. I also heard the rumours but I read an article sometime this season where JP made comments about the end of the show and alluded to it having somewhat the same ending as what they envisioned in S2 even if all the current cast members weren't present. Makes me now think that there was never going to be a stelena or delena ending that both were going to be sacrificed for defan which suits me just fine. If so all this outrage over ships losing their endgame pairing could very well be ridiculous.
