LOL at Skye and Ward being on this list. They aren't doomed as a couple because of a lack of good story, they're never going to happen (logically) because he's a traitor who kidnapped her and almost killed two of her friends.
ReplyDeleteDamon and Elena benefict from the storyline IMO. So I voted for Quinn and Huck, at first I liked them but then I started to not like Huck, I didn´t like him, hate him a little bit in these couples of episodes.
ReplyDeleteOh look another shipping poll haha poor non shippers that is so not your week lol
ReplyDeleteWell this poll is sort of anti shipper as well, since it's about which couple people think will fail.
ReplyDeleteWeird ass poll this.
ReplyDeleteBut it's still about couples. They will complain rust me. This should be fun.
ReplyDeleteI'm no shipper but I'm not complaining.
ReplyDeleteAnd for that you have my respect but have you seen yesterday's poll?
ReplyDeleteIn their case it was kind of the opposite. They were doomed due to a good storyline. Sacrifices sometimes must be made for the sake of plot. I'm fine with it.
ReplyDeleteNo. What was it?
ReplyDeleteOlicity Vs. Raylicity. You can imagine how that went. The worst part is that people who don\t even watch the show commented just to complain because it was yet another shipping poll.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good way of putting it
ReplyDeleteAngela and Hodgins...Bones
ReplyDeleteJim and Barbara, Gotham. Doomed because of a combination of the writers having no idea what to do with Barbara, poor acting and the fact that Jim has better chemistry with other characters. The thing is will the showrunners realise this? Or will the audience have to suffer for another season.
ReplyDeleteOliver and Felicity were always doomed as they are most idiotic pairing for a show to come with, so no amount of storyline is going to help an awkward couple. Time to end it once for all.
ReplyDeleteYou do realize Jim and Barbara eventually get married, right? Hardly doomed.
ReplyDeleteThey do in the comics but unless they suddenly manage to write the couple as believable and make Barbara an character with agency then they can't possibly work on on the show.
ReplyDeleteWhat does "sentence to doom" mean? Like the storylines will be so bad that fans will revolt and that will force producers to sink the couple? I don't understand. I don't know why you'd vote for like Jeremy and Bonnie, that one's doomed because Jeremy isn't even on the show anymore? And half the others are doomed because of bad storylines they're doomed because they are temporary or already blown up--Tom and Liz? Eddie and Iris?
ReplyDeleteI voted for couples whose storylines or chemistry was unsuccessful and therefore even if it were originally considered to get them back together or make angst out of it it is probably doomed: Klaus and Cami, Skye and Ward, Aria and Ezra.
Yeah, I don't really understand the question.
ReplyDeleteSkye and Ward are not sentenced to doom because of a lack of good storylines. They're sentenced to doom because one is a good person while the other has murdered about a dozen innocent people (at least), betrayed his country, his organization and his team, tried to kill two members of said team who also happen to be two of the first person's best friend, and has not shown an ounce of remorse for ANY of those actions. Also, the reveal that the above was going to happen was the best twist on the show so far, so the fact that this couple isn't going to happen is because the show DID have a good storyline, contrary to what enranged shippers might claim.
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I said. It's a because of a GOOD storyline that this pairing can't happen. Of course, immature shippers who see nothing except whichever ship they're rooting for will take bland, boring, pointless good guy Ward who can hook up with Skye over 10000000000 times more interesting evil Ward who can't.
ReplyDelete1.Eddie & Iris.
ReplyDelete2.Klaus & Cami.
3.Jake & Olivia.
4.Jim & Barbara.
Beremy has already ended for good,so no point mentioning it here.
So much THIS!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat number is the level of my "I can't stand Ward" feeling right now. I don't see the show logically putting these two together after what we've seen and from what I get, AoS is at least playing for realism here, which I applaud.
ReplyDeleteWhat good is evil Ward who is never in an episode?! I'd take good Ward any day because good Ward was actually on my screen. I'd be ok with evil Ward if I actually got to see him.....
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, evil Ward needs luvin' too..... ;) I still want to see them together. Maybe an interesting relationship will fix what's wrong with this show.
I'm not sure why they are on the list either. They have been great this season.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the writing isn't even trying to redeem Ward a little, so that at a later stage he could become part of the other major plots. He's like a side act that we wouldn't really miss if he was gone, but then the season isn't over so who knows.
ReplyDeleteI don't have faith in Ward ever becoming a member of any SHIELD team again, and if he won't be, why keep him on the show when his arc has absolutely nothing to do with Inhumans or SHIELD vs SHIELD. Some have suggested Coulson perhaps recruiting him to take down OlmostSHIELD but I think it will be a cold day in hell before Coulson welcomes him back in any capacity. He had his chance when Coulson spent weeks trying to get him to talk and he squandered it because he wanted to manipulate Skye some more.
Some characters are better in small doses. Ward and Kara (Agent 33) are isolated from the main storyline right now, so it makes sense that we aren't seeing them that often. Imagine if we had the insane action of yesterday's episode interrupted over and over again by scenes of Ward doing something else entirely? That would've ruined the episode.
ReplyDeleteAnd as far as I'm concerned, a relationship between Skye and Ward wouldn't be the least bit interesting. It would just make Skye yet another addition to the long list of women in movies/TV shows who chuck their morality out of the window and forget all the horrible things a guy has done because he's hot and has some sort of "bad boy" appeal. No thanks, I prefer Skye as a strong character who puts right and wrong before her libido.
You're right, they're not trying to redeem him. Which is sad because not only is he my favourite character, but he is a great actor and he had great screen chemistry with the rest of the cast.
ReplyDeleteThe only way for that relationship to believably happen is Skye becoming A) amnesiac, B) crazy or C) evil. Needless to say, I'm not in favor of any of these.
ReplyDeleteHook and Emma. Robin and Regina.
ReplyDeleteKind of surprised they weren't included because both more than fits.
Olivia & her 2 boyfriends.
ReplyDeleteEvery TVD, TO & Arrow couple.
ReplyDeleteHook & Emma on OUAT.
Yes, breaking up a flow of an ep is always distracting. Which is why I detest when a shows cast grows too big. There simply isn’t enough time to do justice to all the characters. That is part of my issue with SHEILD. I have lost interest in the show almost completely. I have PVR’d and fast forwarded through 90% of the last few eps. I watch enough to have a gist of what’s going on, but I’m not attached to these new characters. I also agree that Skye shouldn’t throw her morals away for a hot bad boy, but perhaps if Skye took a moment to question what happened to Ward to make him become who he was, she could also be considered compassionate with her high morals. Ward didn’t just start killing people because it was fun. He was taken in at a vulnerable point in his young life and was moulded into something he wasn’t, by a twisted individual. His course was already set when he met her, deviating from the path was too late, but it would be nice if a redemption arc for Ward started so that some day he could come back to SHEILD. Personally, I’d like to see his character settle somewhere in the middle of the two sides we’ve seen of him. Because seeing him once every third ep isn’t cutting it for me.
ReplyDeleteWhatever poll it is, in the land of STV, Arrow rules!
ReplyDeleteSome of these pairing aren't and never were couples so I'm not sure why they are included. That said, I voted for Jeremy and Bonnie, Jake and Olivia, and Barbie and Julia.
ReplyDeleteThe writing on all three of those shows has damn near written those couples off. I'm not saying that I think those characters should be together (I'm soooo not a shipper) but they certainly need closure. I mean come on. Bonnie comes back from a prison world right after Jeremy left for "art school". She left him a message because she doesn't want to deal with it. It's a cop out. Considering all that they've been through, they should have had better timing and given that couple a proper goodbye. As for Scandal, I'm tired of the Olivia's arc this season. If it doesn't get better, I may not continue on with it.
They cast Luke Mitchell to help Skye with her powers from next episode on. His hotness will probably sway the most stuborn of the Skyward shippers lol
ReplyDeleteIt looks like Olicity wins every poll regardless of topic.
ReplyDeleteWard isn't evil. I quote something I read recently 'cause I think it summarize it well:
ReplyDelete"I think we can know so many things about someone but
not know maybe what they’re capable of in terms of being bad or good,
and I think everyone has maybe good intentions, but they do bad things."
(I stand with Ward but that doesn't mean I'm someone who wants to whitewash him and forget everything he has done, not at all!!! I'm not naive.)
And just something to think about: How many beloved characters were at some point "not the good guy" and did bad stuff (and there is no such completely good person)?
Damon (TVD), Klaus (TO), Angel (Buffy), Spike (Buffy), Oliver (Arrow), Tyrion (GoT), Tony Soprano (The Sopranos) and so on.
There is a disappointing lack of female antiheroes/villains on tv. There goes the diversity. Just a handful female antiheroes/villains come into my mind.
Couldn't agree more!
ReplyDeleteOlivia and Fitz. The only two people I ship.
ReplyDeleteFitzSimmons :(
ReplyDeleteI Rolled my eyes right away when I saw oliver and felicity at the top. God, there are other shows and other couples that are way more spectacular
ReplyDeleteWard's a bad guy so that pairing is doomed, just not for that reason.
ReplyDeleteOliver/Felicity, Elena/Damon, Jeremy/Bonnie, and Nick/Juliette yes, the writers have written these very badly.
Eh, I'm heavily frowning over Luke Mitchell's character as he comes across as a Gary Stu/Marty Stu/whatever Stu is meant to be,the male equivalent of Mary Sue based on the little we know about him. I could be wildly wrong, of couse.
ReplyDeleteAs far as Ward/Skyye being doomed due to a bad or good storyline, I'd argue that they, along with Fitz/Simmons and Hunter/Morse, have always been doomed from the get go solely on the account of this being a Whedon show. Not a single couple of either Angel or Buffy got a happy ending as both shows came to a close.
From the show I watch currently, Damon and Elena were actually good this season. Jeremy and Bonnie were always boring to me but they're done, why are they even mentioned? Cami and Klaus aren't even a couple yet.
ReplyDeleteOliver and Felicity were fine when the writers weren't paying attention to them...and then they got all rushed and awful when the writers decided to pay attention to them. -_-
This is the weirdest question, so are they screwed because the writers are dick, or will they just turn people against the couple? This was badly worded.
ReplyDeletei agree, the reason why Skye and Ward are sentenced to doom it's actually a good storyline, Ward becoming a villain is one of the best things that happened to to this show
ReplyDeleteI think Oliver/Felicity might still happen, even though I'm not a shipper and I don't want Oliver with anyone right now.
ReplyDeleteI think Bonnie/Jeremy is just doomed because Jeremy is no longer on the show so there's nowhere to go with it. Klaus/Cami is just not going to happen because their fan base is so tiny and they decided to abandon them as a romantic pairing. Skye/Ward isn't a couple either and I don't see them ever getting together unless they totally assassinate Skye's character.
if Delena will be doomed I'll be out of TVD
ReplyDeleteRight - Bonnie/Jer. are a no brainier - why are they even on the list?
ReplyDeleteMy couple wad not on the list thank god. But I am a klaus and cami fan and I would love them to be together bot haley but they ate going to get more scenes
ReplyDeleteDarvey are not doomed...but if they were, I wouldn't get upset because Marvey is the far superior ship imo.
ReplyDeleteSame here.
ReplyDeleteEddie and Iris are certainly doomed, but not necessarily because of no storylines. Espo and Lanie have already broken up if I remember correctly. Not sure about Jim and Barbara. Oliver and Felicity are not a couple right now, but I think they have a future. Don't watch any of the other shows.
ReplyDeletewhy keep him on the show when his arc has absolutely nothing to do with Inhumans or SHIELD vs SHIELD.
ReplyDeletebefore there r more plotlines interwoven besides inhumans and shield vs shield. there's the underlining plotline of shield vs hydra and ward is right in the middle of that one
I'd have to agree: Skye and Ward are doomed because theirs is a great story, not by lack of thereof
ReplyDeleteMarriage does not equal a successful love story, Game of Thrones is full of those.
ReplyDeleteI feel Jim and Barbara are doomed as a couple, but will be forced to marry either out of convenience and/or to keep someone safe.
Those are tormented lovers, rather than doomed couples: the characters thrive at their most tumultuous.
ReplyDeleteNick and Juliette, on the other hand, have been doomed from the start, but that doesn't make them all the more romantic for it, so bonus point becuse they defy the cliche.
Grimm offers more tension with Renard and Juliette IMO
I still have hope in them
ReplyDeleteTormented? You mean completely unnecessary. Hook stands around being pretty and useless and Robin had a kiss after 8 minutes of screen time together and sex after 20. Not to mention the actor has one facial expression. Also two RH movies will be coming out next year both with him and Marian as the main couple so it will be extra awkward for OUAT that lives and dies to promote what Disney is doing at the moment.
ReplyDeleteLike you pointed out, the story is only going to pile up more obstacles for them to be together: the couples just wouldn't function otherwise. A doomed couple is set up to fail (so that the audience could enjoy their story while it still lasts) like Grimm does, not to overcome its every obstacle like Once Upon a Time does.
ReplyDeleteThe reason to watch a good written doomed couple is to see them reach that breaking point, like Nick and Juliette are doing on Grimm. As if develop the prequel to 2 completely independent stories (in this case Juliette's and Nick's individually).
IKR?
ReplyDeleteHey, haven't talk in a while to you, hope your getting great holidays if it's the case.
BTW you, alongside Pablo Troncoso should take charge of Revenge's writers room.
Klaus and Cami, Eddie and Iris, Derek and Meredith, Jim and Barbara, Nick and Juliette - I limited to 5, but almost all of the options.
