"The Frenemy of my Enemy"? i hope it about Ward joining Coulson and the team in the fight with Coulson's SHIELD against the fake SHIELD
ReplyDeleteI really hope that doesn't happen. Ward is a cold blooded killer and if Coulson asks him for help, I'll lose all respect for him.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a complete character assassination on both sides. Not just what you said, but on Ward's side too. He has no reason to like Coulson's team any more than the RS, he couldn't expect any love from either of them and has no reason to want to help any of them. In fact if he has any interest in that, it's keeping them fighting with each other - the less time they have to care about him the better for him.
ReplyDeleteThis is an interesting title and I think you're right I feel like Ward is going to join Coulson (regards of the BTS pics from a few weeks ago).
ReplyDeleteYou both right but the writers loves to mess things around so I guess we're gonna have to wait and watch.
ReplyDeletewell i don't believe that and they could use all the help they can get in this fight
ReplyDeletei hope so i really REALLY hope so
ReplyDeleteIndeed but "messing things around" works only if it's not OOC. I can imagine that Ward's plan with Bakshi (they probably don't indoctrinate him just because there were nothing to watch on TV) could lead to a point where SHIELD also benefits from the fruits of his actions, like eg. catching the last Hydra boss. But Ward should go on a long way, before any level of alliance with him could be acceptable.
ReplyDeleteCoulson would never ask for Ward's help, true. Ward, however, would definitely offer help once he gets wind of NuSHIELD's coup, and, really, Coulson doesn't have much leeway to reject that when, *as of now* - subjected to change in the next two episodes -, he only has Hunter as an available resource against Gonzales, Calderon, Weaver, Morse and Mack.
ReplyDeleteYeah and it's hard to see him suddenly becomig "good" again, but I'm impressed how many things happened in 2 seasons (and season 2 isn't over yet).
ReplyDelete(whispers) me too xd
ReplyDeleteDisagree, I think Ward will always love Skye deep down and try to help the team for her sake even if they would all love to lock him up in a prison far away from them.
ReplyDeleteNu as in New right? and definitely, he needs all the help he can get to destroy this wannabe SHIELD
ReplyDeleteI really hope Ward come into the fold by the end of the season.I want some quality Skye-Ward moment!
ReplyDeletethat would be amazing!!!
ReplyDeleteIKR?
ReplyDeleteThey have explosive chemistry together!
Except that Skye is out of the picture now. Of course if Coulson regained the helm, it would be safer for her to come back, but I think she will have bigger issues now that she is among people similar to her.
ReplyDeleteDo you think that they'll release the titles of the final episodes of Agents Of SHIELD? Come on it's Marvel they can keep us in the dark.
ReplyDeleteNo.
ReplyDeleteWith the title change in Bones, maybe we get one more season?
ReplyDeleteFor me.I know it's not the popular opinion around here but can't help it.I love them both individually and the idea of them together.
ReplyDeleteTechnically, Ward doesn't know about that. And even if he finds out, I think he'd still do it because it's Skye's de facto family.
ReplyDelete- The goal of the whole coup was to get the Toolbox, because it contains references to a lot of hidden resources - so I wouldn't say that Coulson is out of resources. As of manpower, I doubt that he would want to storm the RS, so one companion or two is the same.
ReplyDelete- I get that most people hate RS by gut (sometime on very childish level), but as a fact there are only three mentionable negative things about them. First, they look Skye only as a danger - but she is safe now.
Second, they don't think Coulson right for the post of director - I disagree but their reasons has some ground.
Third, their coup was a dirty trick, to remove Coulson. However, up till this point there are nothing which would counter their claim, that it was because they thought it the best for the cause.
I have no doubts that Coulson will want to gain back the control. (LOL, he is the lead character, they can't send him on a holiday to Tahiti.) But I would be extremely disappointed if they went on the all-out warpath for this, using unacceptable means, like Ward is. That would mean that him being in control is more important to him than what they are fighting for and what they are fighting against. ("Minor" side effect, that what would happen to the whole SHIELD crew, who were saved on Hydra-day and now loyal to Calderon? Kill them all? Tell them that "They couped me, now I couped them, so from today you will serve me"?)
Coulson can not defeat the RS by force. He has to prove that they were wrong (there will probably be a break in the junta about this), but if he accepts any help from Ward, his judgement and claim to be the better one would be rightfully questioned. First and foremost in his own team.
If he knows about the coup he should know about what happened with Skye as well.
ReplyDeleteFor that part I can't wait wait to see his reaction towards Skye's powers.
ReplyDeleteyeah they do!
ReplyDeletebut they just won't listen, the only way to stop then IS by force
ReplyDeleteI see we have a new Clairvoyant here.
ReplyDeletewhat do you mean?
ReplyDeleteThat you KNOW what they will do. Congratulation, are you one of the writers?
ReplyDeletethey didn't care at ALL what Coulson was saying and they can't accept the fact Coulson is in charge. So he was brought back by alien blood, so WHAT! at least he's alive AND he stopped HYDRA, but nope they don't care
ReplyDeletehopefully more than one
ReplyDeletePlease no.
ReplyDeletePlease no. I hope this never happens, I don't want some of these characters ruined by siding with that murdering sociopath.
ReplyDeleteFinding out about the coup != knowing every single detail about it, you know.
ReplyDeleteFitz looks like he's leaving in the next episode, if he joins up with Coulson and then Ward decides to join them, how will that go. Fitz hasn't gotten over what Ward did to him and neither has Coulson, so why sweep all that under the carpet just because it looks like Coulson has no one on his side except Hunter. There's Deathlok and that former agent from Eye Spy that Coulson can turn to if he's truly desperate. Ward should never ever be an option for Coulson not if he wants to ever lead SHIELD again, especially his old team. Ward hurt those people more directly than he did Coulson, and Coulson's allegiance should always be to them.
ReplyDeleteThe only important thing to him is Skye, the only reason why he would want to help - yet her fate is the one he wouldn't want to know? Really?
ReplyDeleteNo he doesn't need all the help he can get if by help you mean Ward.
ReplyDeleteI am just sitting here, hoping and praying, that this does not involve Coulson recruiting Ward. I think the AOS writers have written Ward's storyline this season very realistically, and making such a development will not only assassinate Coulson's characterisation but make a mockery of everything Ward has done.
ReplyDeleteI would, however, quite like if this is the episode that brings SHIELD and Real SHIELD together. Bonding over a Hydra faction, the Inhumans...otherwise this is going to get tiresome really fast.
I'd have Coulson call up his actual "friends" to help him, if you'd call them that but this show can't really use the avengers. Ward should stay away from any SHIELD business period.
ReplyDeleteSkye is off with her inhuman brethren so why involve Ward with the people that hate his guts?
ReplyDeleteIt will ruin Coulson to even think about working with Ward.
ReplyDeletePlease please please Coulson, stay away from Ward!
ReplyDeleteThat's precisely why I think this alliance impossible. Allying with Ward would mean that his position is more important to him than how to get it.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand it doesn't rule out that Ward would do something from which Coulson could benefit - but not on the base of any agreement.
RS may not look like that much a bad guy NOW, but I believe that they'll reach that position very soon.
ReplyDeleteGonzales, Weaver and Calderon have directly or indirectly expressed a fear of an alien infiltration leading to an invasion and last episode ended with May telling Coulson to find Skye and Skye being taken by Gordon to the Inhumans refuge. Suppose Coulson does track Skye to the refuge and RS finds him there, among many Inhumans - a likely scenario, mind you -, what do you think they'll conclude? That their worst fears were true, of course! It's not unreasonable to believe, then, that they'd go, er, inhuman on the Inhumans, the classic meaning of the word. They might even concoct a plan to erradicate them all throughout the globe, in a plot similar to the one in X2, if they can have access to a plot device similar to the Xavier-Cerebro combination of that movie. How do you think Coulson should react in such a scenario, then? Stick himself to his moral standards, or accept the help of someone he knows to be untrustworthy for the sake of the greater good?
....well, it really looks like Ward will work with the team again?
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, I hope the same (and maybe Skyeward hate sex. Oops).
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOD AT 2.18'S TITLE. Please have something to do with Ward (who rejoins the team to help. Seethe, haters).
ReplyDeletePretty sure Brett Dalton is still a regular cast member, despite appearing only in 1 out of the last 5 episodes. They could've ended his role in the series with his death in 2.10, but they chose not to and it's only logical that they'll eventually involve him in a very big way with the main plot leading down to the season finale, otherwise what's the point?
ReplyDeleteDon't worry too much about it not making sense, the writers can and will find a find a way to have his involvement feel natural, even if we can't see how right now. :)
Same. I'll even take some Skyeward hate sex in this episode (oops) before they eventually find their way back to each other when he's healthy again (God, he needs some therapy to deal with that lifelong abuse).
ReplyDeleteAw, I needed to hear this (and also to remember it) when I'm spiraling in a bad way about what they're doing with Ward (I'd like to spiral in a good way).
ReplyDeleteWhat I mean is that he doesn't necessary have to get every single detail about the coup before tracking down Coulson to offer his help.
ReplyDeleteExactly this. Ward no longer has any business with SHIELD or Hydra, and other than Skye he doesn't actually care for any of his former team mates. Even if they completely trashed Coulson's character to write him begging the man who tried to murder half his team and best friend, why would Ward accept?
ReplyDeleteWhat I'm holding on to is the changing of the phrase 'Enemy of my Enemy' to 'Frenemy of my Enemy'. Ward and Coulson are no longer friends or friendly in any sense of the word. Gonzales and his crew, despite their faults, are still SHIELD agents. Fingers crossed my writers brain and somewhat psychic abilities keep holding me out this season. I've already got one hope and one theory correct.
AoS title could be Coulson and real SHIELD teaming up. Or Skye and Raina teaming up. Or Raina and Ward.Or Coulson and Cal. Doesn't have to be Ward and Coulson and I hope it isn't unless Coulson plays him.
ReplyDeleteI really want Coulson and Real SHIELD teaming up. I want Doc Weaver helping out FitzSimmons, I want Bobbi and Mack back on the team. I want Coulson and Gonzales to reach an accord.
ReplyDeleteThe only way I would accept Coulson asking for Ward's help is if the episode ends in him finally being taken into custody by Talbot.
I was talking about what has happened yet. From storytelling POV even though the Coulson-at-the-Inhumans scenario is very likely, Ward's help wouldn't matter in this case, as RS has a full helicarrier, plus - as you said - assets around the globe. An all out clash between a Coulson led inhuman army and the whole RS may happen in the finale of next season (connecting to CA-CW), but now, it is very unlikely. But to answer your question: yes, if he should chose between a mass massacre and accepting the help of a criminal, he would probably chose the second option.
ReplyDeleteHowever if the whole plot with the RS is that in three episodes they turn them to a bunch of murderers, who are killing people just because they are afraid of them, then I will probably stop watching the show. It's very cheap.
They'll probably give Gonzales a backstory to explain his fear. They had Coulson say that Gonzales dropped SHIELD for a while when his wife died and then came back *with a vengeance*, climbing up through the ranks very quickly, so I'm kinda expecting a reveal that an alien and/or an enhanced human killed her.
ReplyDeleteAnd disagree about Coulson + inhumans vs RS happening in next season's finale. Daniel Whitehall was dealt with by episode 10, I highly doubt they'll extend the RS one to the end of next season, lasting 32 episodes. And they'll probably trim down any potential assets Coulson may get with the Inhumans, either by ideology - it's not their fight - or by being captured by the RS.
What I mean was that the only reason why he would offer his help is because Skye, so obviously if there is anything he would want to know about it's her. And because the coup will probably not be a first page article in the NYT, there is just as plausible that he knows this detail from his sources ("the girl almost killed one of the big guys and shredded half a forest into matchsticks" - that's a buzz) than not.
ReplyDeleteThat would be a nice surprise and a gift, but if we only get one more I'll be happy. And I think it will also depend on what day it airs next season. If it's on Friday or maybe Tuesday it might have a better shot of a 12th season. But I'm not trying to assume too much in case season 11 doesn't end up happening.
ReplyDeleteI hope so!
ReplyDeleteYou don't believe what? That Ward is a killer?
ReplyDeleteI know you are kidding, but that's just disgusting.
ReplyDeleteI am so tired of "he doing all this because he was abused". Did he need to kill that soldier at Talbot's? No. He's just evil!
ReplyDeleteWe get one title very week.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what you said about Ward.
ReplyDeleteTrue. It could be a bunch of things but i think it's going to be Ward because i just don't see it how they will bring him back to the show main plot. I don't think the show has the guts to make him the main villain so it going to be a common ground. He is a wildcard but he could help out in a situation but still not back on the team. I don't see a way they can make him back to the team look realistic but putting Coulson in a tough situation like the one new SHIELD is doing could make him see him as a ally in a situation. Right now is just Coulson and Hunter with no resource. He wants to get Skye and SHIELD back. He doesn't even has May. That being said i would prefer if it was both SHIELDs.
ReplyDeleteAgreed.
ReplyDeleteYou know, last summer when I thought they would bring in an alternate SHIELD, I kind of imagined it as the old sitcom trope where it's an alternate reality version of the team. Kinda disappointed.
ABC and Marvel are really holding out new info about Agents of SHIELD. We normally would be getting the name of episode 19, the press release of The frenemy of my enemy and Melinda promo pics this week. Thats how they usually work during the season. Now they are being very careful with spoilers, holding everything back. It's a little frustating but it means good things coming.
ReplyDeleteYeah I know but they can keep it and don't release it just to keep the suspense in a high level.
ReplyDeleteI agree that he didn't need to kill Talbot's soldier. I love him but I fully admit that. He could have just knocked the guy out. That whole episode was a mess, however, and I blame the writers for that.
ReplyDeleteI have never believed he's evil and I'm sticking by it.
Everything is so top secret its kind of a buzz kill I really wish shield would do those arrow and flash type look ahead promos but everything is so heavily guarded that we don't even get guest star info till the press release I love being surprised but I would also like some kind of a tease to get the excitement up (flash has me super psyched!!)
ReplyDeleteI agree. It also helps advertize the show something this show could use some more. We are getting to the end of the season and AOU premiere is a few weeks away they should be teasing us more not keep completly quiet.
ReplyDeleteI agree. A lot of people don't like the idea of Ward being back with the team or helping but it's kind of inevitable. The alternative plot would be kill him which they had the chnce to do it and didn't or making him the main villain and i don't see them doing that.
ReplyDeleteThat is a slightly better title for Bones
ReplyDeleteI still believe Bones is getting one more year(FOX already stated they will only renegotiate one year at a time) Bones, on another site is not on that's sites bubble watch making me believe we will hear about renewal in May. If that happens please hope that FOX moves it to another night
ReplyDeleteI see. Well, what I can say about it is that we still have "Afterlife" and "Melinda" before we really see what "Frenemy of my Enemy" is all about. It may seen absurd for Coulson to team up with Ward now, but if the showrunners want that to happen they'll find a way for it to work organically, just as the producers of The Dark World managed a credible reason for Thor to strike an alliance with Loki, a betrayer and a murderer just like Ward.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day, as I also said elsewhere in this thread, Brett Dalton is still a regular cast member. Jed and Maurissa could've chosen to kill his character and be done with his story in the winter finale, but they didn't only for him to appear in 1 out of 5 episodes of season 2B so far and not a single hint that he'll play a role in the next 2 episodes. Either they're being real bastards to Brett, denying him work, or they're planning to reward his patience with a really meaty storyline as the season closes. I consider the latter to be more likely, so I expect the next 2-3 episodes to set up a good argument for his involvement in a plot that he seemingly has no reason to play a role.
Who *isn't* a killer on this show?
ReplyDeleteDalton's been filming with the rest of the cast. He's back with the team, we just don't know how yet.
ReplyDeleteWhatever his next move, I suspect the killings in "Love in the time of Hydra" are to keep a 100 percent clean cover. Possibly for an infiltration of HYDRA. Ward doesn't want anybody to know he and Bakshi aren't the bestest buddies, I suspect.
ReplyDeleteOMG OMG are you serious? Ok I admit that's what I want thanks for the heads up.
ReplyDeleteTheir tears are the hops in my beer. Dalton's been filming with the team since at least Ian's birthday video.
ReplyDeleteThat is something I hadn't even considered before for some reason but you could be right!
ReplyDeleteI have thought for months that he's trying to help take down Hydra (any way he can, possibly with Coulson) and I still think it's true.
Fury is a part of Age of Ultron, and I smell an upcoming guest appearance on MAOS. What if all this time Ward has been a triple agent for Fury, or someone else Coulson trusts? Ward never pulled that card in Vault D because he needed to keep his cover with HYDRA as intact as possible for his upcoming move.
ReplyDelete2.18 press release is out and I'm so happy I can't even right now (and yup, the fact that Brett was in Iain's birthday video and has been spotted on the Bus several times since has kept my hope alive)

Hah I would have loved that! I love alternative realities, it would be like in Star Trek where they had the Mirror Verse and everyone was evil and had evil facial hair ha.
ReplyDeleteKinda lovin' those Happyish titles, even if I have no idea what the context is...
ReplyDeletenot in the same sense as Cal
ReplyDelete
