  • 12:26 - MOVIES: Avengers: Infinity War - Chris Evans Confirms Part 1 And 2 Will Film Back-To-Back
"You know, you plan around the Marvel responsibilities. You have to. We start [Captain America: Civil War] in a couple weeks, and then that shoots until August or something like that. August or September. Then I've got some downtime and I can do with it as I please. I don't know if I want to take time off or go pursue another directing job or find a movie to act in or, you know, do whatever I'm creatively inclined to pursue or wait, relax, enjoy my life. And then we start the Infinity War, I think, some time in the third quarter. Fall or winter of 2016. That's going to be like nine months to shoot both movies back to back."

  • 11:51 - NBC dramas begin staffing+ name changes
Thanks to Jovan for the heads up.

We are starting to get more definitive signs of the broadcast pilots likely to go to series for next season. I hear NBC has given three drama pilots — The Player (formerly Endgame), Blindspot and Heartbreaker (formerly Heart Matters) — permission to begin staffing. While not a guarantee for a series order, such a nod from the networks is usually a promising indication of their intentions. While all pilots vet prospective writers and offer those they like “if come” deals, an official blessing from the network allows the studios to lock in sought-after writer-producers early. In addition to the three drama pilots, also currently staffing is NBC comedy Telenovela starring Eva Longoria, which has a straight-to-series order. I haven’t heard staffing buzz on Chicago Fire‘s planted spinoff Chicago Med but I hear that project is still on track for a midseason launch.

  • 11:30 - Netflix Ratings Revealed
An analysis shared exclusively with Variety revealed the numbers for many of Netflix’s most recently launched original series — including which new shows already seem to be challenging “House of Cards” in popularity.

“Daredevil,” the first of multiple superhero dramas coming to Netflix as part of a deal with Marvel, premiered April 10, and is seeing strong sampling, with an estimated 10.7% of subscribers watching at least one episode in its first 11 days on the streaming service.

By way of comparison, the third season of “House of Cards,” which premiered Feb. 27, attracted 6.5% of subs over its first 30 days of availability. New comedy “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” also bettered “Cards” in its first month (7.3%), while new drama “Bloodline” appears to be a slow starter (2.4%).

  • 21:33 - Paradise Pictures - Ordered to Pilot by USA Network
USA Network has ordered a pilot for “Paradise Pictures,” a 1940’s period drama from “Suits” exec producer Aaron Korsh, the cabler announced Tuesday.

The pilot centers around ambitious people striving to get to the top in Hollywood in the ’40s, when the dream factory was at its peak. Little do they know the challenges they’re about to face including the end of the studio monopolies, the blacklist and the new disruptive technology of television.

“Set against the backdrop of a dramatic transformation in the entertainment industry, ‘Paradise Pictures’ delves into a world that has not yet been explored on television,” said Alex Sepiol, SVP of original series, USA Network. “We are pleased to continue our successful relationship with Aaron and Rick, as they use this dynamic time to tackle issues which are still very much a part of modern day Hollywood.”
