15:31 - Daniel Radcliffe Confirmed For BBC's Grand Theft Auto Drama
Daniel Radcliffe and Bill Paxton to star in new factual drama, Game Changer (w/t).
Conceived for an adult audience, this special 90-minute drama tells the story of the controversy surrounding the computer game Grand Theft Auto - arguably the greatest British coding success story since Bletchley Park.
Its triumph was down to a bunch of British gaming geniuses who had known each other since their school days, and at the heart of it all was GTA’s creative mastermind, Sam Houser. In autumn 2013 its latest iteration - GTA:V - earned $1bn in its first three days, becoming the fastest selling entertainment product in history.
Grand Theft Auto offers gamers the chance to step into a fantasy world where they can behave like criminals, gun down rival gangsters and cops, hijack cars and venture deeper into an imaginary American underworld.
But the violent gameplay coupled with its outstanding commercial success leads to fierce opposition: from parents worried about children immersing themselves in such a violent world; from politicians, alarmed at the values they say it encourages; and above all from moral campaigners, who fight passionately to ban it. At the vanguard of this crusade is the formidable campaigning lawyer Jack Thompson, a man determined to do whatever he can to stop the relentless rise of Grand Theft Auto.
Game Changer (w/t) tells the story of an extraordinary chapter in the history of this iconic game, and reveals the major impact it has had on our cultural landscape.
BBC Two is delighted to announce that Daniel Radcliffe will play Sam Houser and Bill Paxton will play Jack Thompson.
Game Changer (w/t) is a BBC in house production. Written by James Wood (Rev, Ambassadors); directed by Owen Harris (Kill Your Friends, Black Mirror, Holy Flying Circus, Misfits); produced by Jim Spencer (Pride, All Stars, Monsters); executive produced by Mark Hedgecoe (The Challenger) and commissioned by Tom McDonald, head of natural history and specialist factual formats

22:33 - HBO Orders Whitney Cummings Comedy Pilot & Stand-up Special
The premium cable network has ordered a pilot for a half-hour comedy inspired by New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd’s debate-stirring 2005 book Are Men Necessary? When Sexes Collide.
Cummings created, wrote and is starring in the project, described as a comedic portrait of modern relationships that focuses on human nature and social construction using documentary elements and appearances from experts to help the characters understand the biological basis of their behavior. Cummings executive produces with Tom Werner, Jimmy Miller and Dowd.
This marks the third comedy series created by Cummings and first for cable. She co-created CBS’ 2 Broke Girls, which set a new off-network syndication record when it sold to TBS for $1.7 million per episode, and also created and starred in NBC’s Whitney. 2 Broke Girls already has been renewed by CBS for next season – its fifth – and debuts in syndication in the fall.

Arrow - LMAO. That fern video is hilarious. Good job online fandom. I can't stop laughing.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. That was the best!!
ReplyDelete"Hey, we got a spare 10K lying around the set, what you want us to do Mark? Some more cool VFX shots?"
ReplyDelete"Naaahhhh, let the fern rise"
"Why?"
"I SAID THE FERN SHALL RISE!!!!"
profess your love to the ship
I laughed for about 5 minutes.
ReplyDeletewhile I like it (ok not a surprise) I agree, it is a statement.
ReplyDeleteAhahahaha
ReplyDeleteLOL. I don't disagree that it was unnecessary. But I also don't think they spent 10K for this. All they had to do was after Thea scenes tie a string to the plant and dunk it. BTW Koky submitted this scoop just for your sake.
ReplyDeleteI did so too and was waiting on Macs and actually Bradleys reaction too ;)
ReplyDeleteMG is really walking on a thin line. He is going to alienate every non Olicity fan on internet if he continues like this. But the dude is funny.
ReplyDeleteMuahahahahaha
ReplyDeleteActually they filmed this last Wednesday. So they definitely spent money on it lol
It's Marc :P
ReplyDeleteThey are weird. But I laughed so its all fine.
ReplyDeleteOh I love them :D
ReplyDeleteI don't say this often so when I do I really mean it. I love you, Marc Guggenheim :D
ReplyDeleteSeriously I'm still laughing about this lol (don't think I'll ever stop)
Did you notice that the candles aren't lit after the "resurrection"? They're staying true to the story. #EvilFern lol
When a show spends this much time, money and effort on a video for a fern because the fans are attached to it, that's when you know who is the epic love story of Arrow :D (in case a couple of people missed the point lol)
I'm also proud of Marc and the fandom for using this for a good cause.
THE FERN LIVES!!! YESSS! (In my Stewie voice) Victory is mine! LOL That was awesome.
ReplyDeleteF*ck just remembered where the fern was from.
ReplyDeleteHey a fern rising is never a waste of time or money.
ReplyDeleteDude knows how to troll. It's impressive. And he knows how to take a seemingly small object and make it hilariously big.
ReplyDeleteHe is the reason why the fern became such a huge thing in the fandom. He talked to them about the merits of different names. My guess is him and rest of the crew gets a kick out of doing stuff like this for the fandom and trolling them. It's hilarious.
ReplyDeleteIt is. I particularly love the reaction of Mac.
ReplyDeleteIt must be really annoying for people who dislike Olicity and the trappings that come with it. LOL.
ReplyDeleteSo I didn't get what all the deal about the fern was about until Bradley told me yesterday that's it's the symbol for Olicity. *shakes head at the fandom*
ReplyDeleteI didn't know Netflix was getting Graceland. Now I can binge it. Nice.
ReplyDeleteWell basically everyone who dislikes it are convinced half the time that Arrow is having an apocalypse that will destroy the show.
ReplyDeleteI don't get why people get anxious for an upcoming apocalypse for Arrow. Most of them are reacting to the online fandom more than what is happening on screen. Criticize specific story threads. Criticize scenes. I will be there to discuss anything on Arrow. But criticizing a group of fans because they enjoy something you don't on the show is just lame.
ReplyDeleteBut that being said as creative heads MG and co has a duty to act a bit more mature imo.
Re Baby Daddy: They recast Riley's mum? Booooo!!!! Also is the show back already? Also YAY for Riley being a BSB fan!
ReplyDeleteRe The Odd Couple: I'm guessing Felix is sleepwalking.
Re The Messengers: So I guess the first horseman makes an appearance...
Game Changer sounds quite interesting. And the cast is shaping nicely.
With Ewan on board and all the roles pretty much being accounted for now, I just can't deny that The Beauty and The Beast cast is stellar!!
