Acclaimed Actors Join Hugh Laurie, Tom Hiddleston and Olivia Colman in

AMC’s Co-Production with BBC One and The Ink Factory

NEW YORK / LONDON – April 16, 2015: Highly acclaimed British actors David Harewood (“Homeland”), Neil Morrissey (“Line of Duty”), Katherine Kelly (“Mr Selfridge”) and Tobias Menzies (“The Honorable Woman”) have been announced to join the star-studded cast of the television adaptation of John le Carré’s novel The Night Manager, which started filming last month.

Co-produced by AMC with BBC One and The Ink Factory, the latest names to feature in the international production join previously announced stars Hugh Laurie (“House”), Tom Hiddleston (The Avengers), Olivia Colman (“Broadchurch”), Tom Hollander (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby) and Academy Award®-winning director Susanne Bier (In a Better World).

Harewood is most well-known for his role in Golden Globe® and Emmy Award®-winning drama “Homeland,” whilst Morrissey was recently featured in BAFTA-nominated drama “Line of Duty.” Kelly starred in two series of Emmy®-nominated British drama “Mr Selfridge,” and Menzies has made a name for himself in Golden Globe®-winning drama “The Honorable Woman” and Emmy® Award-winning series “Game of Thrones.”

  • 13:18 - Adina Porter Cast In WGN America’s ‘Underground’
Adina Porter (True Blood) has landed a recurring role on Underground, WGN America’s pre-Civil War straight-to-series drama about the Underground Railroad. The series from Sony Pictures TV and Tribune Studios follows a group of slaves who plan a daring escape from a Georgia plantation to cross 600 miles to freedom. They are aided along the way by a secret abolitionist couple running a station on the Underground Railroad, as they evade those tasked with bringing them back — dead or alive.

Porter, repped by TalentWorks and Bamboo Management, played Lettie Mae Thornton on HBO’s True Blood for seven seasons. • 13:14 - MOVIES: Wonder Woman - Patty Jenkins to Direct Movie
That was quick. The invisible plane already has a new pilot, as sources have confirmed to Deadline that Monster director Patty Jenkins has been tapped to for Warner Bros’ high-profile Wonder Woman pic. The news comes just two days after helmer Michelle MacLaren exited the project over what the studio called “creative differences.”

Her hiring here helps put to rest an unpleasant spin on recent events. In the wake of MacLaren’s exit from Wonder Woman, speculation online was that sexism might have played a role in the matter. There’s no confirmation of that, but making sure a female director brings DC’s Amazonian warrior to life quells such talk before it becomes conventional wisdom. Hiring Jenkins this quickly also ensures the production will stay on schedule.

In addition Monster, which helped earn Charlize Theron her Oscar, Jenkins has had a prolific career on television, directing episodes of Entourage, Arrested Development, The Killing, as well as the pilot for the short-lived ABC series Betrayal. CAA, Anonymous Content and Jackoway Tyerman represent her.

  • 08:31 - The Good Wife - Season 7 - Cush Jumbo to Recur
EXCLUSIVE: It’s an extraordinary time for Cush Jumbo, the London-based actress who starred on Broadway earlier this season with Hugh Jackman in Jez Butterworth’s spooky curiosity The River. She’s just concluded a sold-out, critically raved run of her solo show Josephine And I at the Public Theater’s Joe’s Pub and now is back in London to begin filming City Of Tiny Lights for director Pete Travis.

She won’t be gone long. I’m told she’s been tapped for a role on Robert King and Michelle King’s The Good Wife, beginning with next fall’s Season 7 opener of the Julianna Margulies-starring dramatic series, which films in New York for CBS. This will mark Jumbo’s American TV debut, though she’s already familiar to UK audiences playing opposite Brenda Blethyn in the ITV Studios detective series Vera. She also was seen on the big screen opposite Tom Sturridge in Remainder.

Details about the character aren’t available yet, but I’m told it’s a recurring role. Billing is still being worked out. The series has still not officially been renewed at the network, though it is expected to be.
