ReplyDeleteTrue, but the New 52 really doesn't compare to 50 years of Flash lore. And this show seems to be taking the pre-52 stance on Barry and Iris. If it wasn't well Barry would not have romantic feelings for Iris, and she'd be pining after him.

ReplyDeleteNot to mention the way they subtly (less than subtle) explained/didn't explain Barry and Iris' relationship when Barry was introduced in Arrow, along with Cisco and Caitlin. I mean that was a dead giveaway right there.

(the 25 exclamations in a row are just way too much now) What bothers me til this day is that they were shipping them before the series even started. I really don't get it. And it's not b/c i'm a WestAllen shipper, or a Snowstorm shipper...I literally DON'T see it. There's nothing there. And i swear i'm trying to see what they see and there's nothing there. (It's like Bamon). There's nothing. Zero, zilch, nada. You know what i DO feel bad about? His denial. I truly feel he doesn't understand how important Iris really is and until he does, he's not going to accept that his ship will never happen.
ReplyDeleteThat really bothered me when I started seeing shippers form when the promos arrived. What she's patching him up, so they should be a couple? And the series haven't even aired. Neither do I. Barry's clearly not attracted to her at all, Caitlin is hung up on Ronnie and shown virtually no interest romantically in Barry (she even freaked out during Bates' kiss and slapped Barry for it). Ivan's refusal to call her Iris for a long time and shippers dislike of her has bugged me. Not just because I like Iris and I think she doesn't deserve it (when people complain about her or compare her to the old Laurel I cringe inside), but because being a threat or whatever to a potential future pairing should not make one dislike a character (which seems to be a common thing with Snowbarry fans and Iris). I still feel bad, because every shipper of those two will forever be under the belief that one day it might happen, or that this will be like Olicity (it won't for so many reasons) and they'll be sad every time it doesn't.

That was the first guy she kissed since Ronnie, who turned out to be a metahuman, whom she thought was her friend for a split second, hell i'd freak out too! On top of that she was extremely relieved that it wasn't Barry, the "I knew it! In relief was a clear sign. And by the end of the episode she got over her weirdness. There were no "deep feelings" there. smh.
ReplyDeleteI loatheeeee that comparing shit. I hate it with every fiber of my being. I always feel when it comes to spin off shows they are two separate shows, nothing should be compared. That's just how i feel in general. Buffy/Angel, TVD/TO i just hate it. It's like if you knew a pair of twins for awhile, yet you still can't tell which is which, it's insulting. (rolls eyes) And twins more than anything want to be able to be told apart. I know i said bamon earlier, but i wasn't comparing, i was throwing an example of another ship i just don't get/see. (but i can understand a little b/c there was a freaking book about it). Anyways, besides my general thinking, my anger worsens when they compare Iris to Laurel. It's soooooo not the same thing. (I'm literally screaming inside with the thought of it) Same with Olicity. Just no. (for so many reasons) and yessss i feel the exact same way, a character should NOT be disliked b/c a shipper feels threatened that said character will get in the way of their ship. Especially when there's NO ship to ship!!! Smh.
P.S. I never noticed that Ivan refused to call Iris by her name, i guess i was distracted by the excessive caps and unnecessary extention of exclamation marks.

I once had a fight with a SnowBarry shipper because she kept reblogging posts comparing WestAllen/Iris to Lauriver/Laurel. As they are past loves. Same with SnowStorm. I still cringe when I remember those posts. I will never understand them.

ReplyDeleteIf you're going to accuse me of something I never said then choose something believable. They dated for 4 episodes and seriously those episodes were like Olicity heaven. I said I hated him for stealing Felicity sure but he was never in the way. The only person who was in the way of Olicity was Oliver himself. The only reason Felicity started this laughable "relationship" was because Oliver wasn't ready to be with her. And I don't hate characters and wish they would go away because they are in the middle of my ship. I didn't hate Sara for that last season and I sure don't hate Eddie because he's in the way of WestAllen.
ReplyDeleteAre you truly convinced that Iris is the reason Barry and Caitlin aren't together? Iris is dating someone else and Barry is free to date anyone he wants. He dated Linda, didn't he? Barry and Caitlin are not together because there is no Barry and Caitlin! He is in love with Iris and she is in love with Ronnie. They are close friends and partners, that doesn't mean there are feelings there. I'm not going to say that Barry and Iris are endgame and that Barry and Caitlin are never going to date at some point because who knows what can happen in the future (although WestAllen is definitely the show's endgame couple now, after last episode how can anyone deny that?), but their relationship is going to be series long.
I don't care about the 90's show because I don't compare shows; in this show Iris is very important and she fits perfectly in the show. She's Joe's daughter, Barry's best friend and the woman he loves, she's a very good reporter and she's connected to Barry/the Flash's destiny and story. She's the reason people started to believe in the Flash and saw him as a hero, and the reason people started calling him Flash. I'm not an expert on comics but as I understand she is connected to Barry's destiny and she's very important to his journey, and she's Bart Allen's grandmother. She has a very rich history and she's an integral part of the show. As long as Candice wants to stay on the show, Iris isn't going anywhere.
OMG I just fainted all this goodness, more promos, Iris looks so sad but she's in star labs so I m sure things will not be too bad with her barry and joe, what is wrong with Eiling why is he now in the prison when did Grodd let him go and Eddie man your decendant got some plans for you man best of luck you look like you ll need it. This is just all too much they are really going out with a bang.
