I'm pretty sure Abc will give it a full 30 promo for its series finale, cause Abc always tends to give returning shows longer promos then usual for their series finales. With that being said, Its going to be for to not see Revenge on schedule this coming fall.
Well if it makes you feel any better, I read an article earlier saying that an upcoming ABC series "The Kingmakers" is a "Revenge 2.0" according to critics.
I will decide if I want to watch after the trailer come comes out. But even if it turns out good, I won't be as invested in as I am Revenge. To me, its not Revenge unless I see Madeleine Stowe or Emily Vancamp in the cast. If I do decide to watch it, I will just view as a completely separate show to Revenge.
Me too! But seeing that she played in a Marval movie, she will have good chance to guest star in Agents of Shields next season. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure Emily VanCamps will have a lot opportunities after Revenge. I mean she did a fantastic job as Amanda Clarke.
Ugh. I don't watch the show because I'm not really into the Marvel/DC thing but I did enjoy Agent Carter and every Wednesday morning people are talking about AoS and how great this episode was. Maybe this summer, who knows... I'll catch up. I definitely will if she joins.
You should give AOS a shot, it is amazing. You don't actually need to be into marvel to enjoy it. My experience was the opposite. I wasn't into Marvel and I only got into it because of AOS, not the other way around. The first 2/3 or so of the first season are quite different and much weaker than where the show eventually settles and what the show eventually becomes, especially the first 6 episodes or so. So if you do decide to try it out, which I 1000% recommend, please keep that in mind and don't judge it until you are done with Season 1.
why don't you stop with this "missing of the series"...it is not canceled yet, if they do - then start pity. I come here to read comments on this clip, but there are none, almost every comment is "i miss the show already" , " I cant believe there are 3 episodes left" blah blah...
I know this is TV and all but why would they give Ben that case? like wtf that's his ex and they're letting him handle that case lol. sorry but i just had to point that out
Well it is written by sallie patrick, a brilliantrevenge writer, and the music composer is Fil eisler, the same of revenge. Supposedly, it is also about revenge and is very very similar. I am really looking forward and hope it is Picked up! Also kristen bauer von Straten (Maleficent on OUAT) will be a regular
People are free to say whatever they want to say. Everybody knows it, Revenge is getting cancelled. We're beginning to accept it because the writers have been killing major characters. There've also been photos of the cast/producers/writers saying their goodbyes to each other which, pretty much, confirms the fate of the show.
If she joings Shield I'll be over the moon! Her role on Captain America 2, while small, was awesome and I'd love to see her coming back on Agents of Shield as a full time regular!
Not a promo but a review, which surprised by how similar to Revenge it looks. While I don't agree with all of what the article says, the things he mentions about how this show seems the anthology version of Revenge is quite striking Check it out.
I don't think it would happen because Shield is a big ensemble thing at this point, with only Skye and Coulson being somehow of leads, and I am not sure if EVC would go from being such a proeminent main to a supporting role like that. But who knows. Hey, at least she could guest star every now and then as cobie smulders does.
Woah, that's interesting! Now I really want Kingsmaker to make it! Unlike the writer of the article, I'd love if they called it Revenge: Kingmakers and made Revenge a franchise, however I'd be worried that sticking the name "Revenge" on it could actually hurt a bit since there's a lot of people that has been let down by the show.
What about the spin off show? Do you think they could glue her in? If not, I'd be happy with guest/recurring appearences.
I always figured that Emily VanCamp presenting the Marvel special "from pulp to pop" on November was a wink to the audience that she is going to be back in the MCU eventually
Just checked it out! Thanks! As you said, it is pretty impressive.
Unlike the article's writer I think Revenge should have launched this spiritual spin off during its second season while continuing its storylines; season 3 was beyond amazing, I always felt bad that it came after the weaker (but still good) season 2. I think there were missteps on Revenge, but overall I don't agree with the idea that continuing its storyline was a bad choice, it just needed to be handled a little bit better - and it had to be scheduled better. Split seasons came one season too late
I would personally like that name as well and for Revenge to be franchised but, like you, I think it would be a net negative.
As for the hopes of the pickup, I have mixed feelings. I would tend to think it is a bit too soon, especially if they really do something that is that similar for Revenge. I have a hard time imagining myself actually liking it more or as much as Revenge since I like it so much and I feel that by making itself too similar, it would just be all the time coming up with comparisons in which they would always come out loosing. Does that make sense? On the other hand, regardless of what I say, I would for sure still watch it and in a weird and paradoxical way, the Revenge comparison makes me watch it more. Also, Kristin there is a big plus too, even if I LOVE malleficient!
Yes, I had the sames hopes when they had her narrate the special, but who knows. The spin off would be more possible but f they are centering it around Bobby and Hunter in a Mr and Mrs. Smith vibe as has been reported it would be even less an ensemble so I don't know where she would fit in. I dunno. I mean, they could certainly make it happen if they wanted to. It's Marvel, the possibilities of that universe are virtually infinite.
I agree with what you say about Revenge. The show is still one of my favorite shows around and I have definitely enjoyed it very much. I do however feel that ABC would have probably been better off with turning it into anthology or franchising it. One season for Revenge would have been too little but they could have done it in two and launched the new generation on the third season - doing it in pairs. Skins (UK) used to do it like that for instance. If you think about it, Seasons 2 and 3 had a lot of filler that could have been removed to make for a ridiculously tight and heart stopping season. We didn't need the story about the brothers that were after the Porters, Pascal and his entire family, Charlotte's lesbian friend, even Stevie, etc. And the finale could have been close to what the season 3 finale was.I think had they done this, ABC would have had a big brand to continue to build on, instead of one that takes value right now instead of adding it. Like I said, on a personal level, I much prefer the way we got it but from a business standpoint, I think the decision was wrong.
Your take on Revenge going anthology each season is very amusing! While up until season 3 I loved almost every episode, there was indeed quite a filler indeed, and I can just imagine how awesome and heart stopping a season 2+3 with no filler could've been. I'm almost wishing we got that just to experience the high of that!
That being said, the way we got it allowed for the enjoyemen to spread across multiple seasons instead of just 2, which is also pretty good. Honestly, I'm not entirely sure that ABC made the wrong call aside from scheduling. Sure, the anthology shift could've been great, but the serialization could've worked too if they started the split seasons sooner and we got more tight stories for S2A and S2B for instance. The most common complain about Revenge up until that point was that the show strayed from its original setting and season 3 reversed that, and to a degree it was welcomed as a reversal of misfortune.
If treated with a bit more care, Revenge could've easily kept on going up until now in better shape, but when you mix filler + crazy schedule and some unconvincing plots to the audience we get to where we are now.
I'll be crossing my fingers. I think it will depend on Emily VanCamp and is she wants to start doing TV again; she could easily make a detour to films since she was already on a huge one and she is becoming a very recognizible face praised for her acting skills.
I'm sure ABC would be happy to keep her around after Revenge wraps up, so I think it depends on her. I think we are at least going to see her guest staring. If that comes to be landing a series regular status, that's to be seen, but boy! I surely hope so
I understand your reservations about it, they are pretty legit. But honestly, I think it is interesting that we are getting a pretty similar setting with different characters; as of right now they strike me as a carbon copy of Revenge's characters, but as along as they are fleshed out as something different the story can take a completely different direction and I think we can relive a similar revenge story taking a completely different route, which is why I'm so excited about it: there's the possibility to make this show a whole new take on a show we love and if it works, then we're getting to live the highs of Revenge all over again.
That is a big IF, but you know me, I'm an optimistic and I tend to hope for the best: I see the possibilities of this show and I'm all in :). Let's hope it lives up to expectations!
I agree with everything you've said and 100% agree that scheduling in Season 2 as well as derailing from the initial concept in Season 2B were part of the big problems. For the most part, one can even argue that you almost didn't need Season 2 at all and that you could have jumped from Season 1 to Season 3. Sure there were a few things to cover like Aiden, Jack being in the knowing and Fauxmanda dying but other than that? I mean, don't take it the wrong way: I am very glad we had Season 2, since despite its flaws, it still had plenty of amazing moments for me.
However, I am not sure the split seasons concept that I love so freaking much would have suited Revenge very well in terms of longevity. Doing split seasons works for shows like OUAT or Shield in which the material is virtually infinite. But I feel that if you forced Revenge to do split seasons from early on (which by definition require very clear arcs, with beginning and end, that move the overall story forward) it would burn through its plot very quickly, because I do believe the premise was somehow limited. There was more that could have been done and there were a lot of things that could have been done better - 100% with you there. So that would help, but I think the main issue of longevity would still be here.
Yeah I think you are always more optimistic than me ;) We'll see. Like I said, I would for sure watch, I would just have damn high expectations while doing so.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
The end is near… We have to enjoy every minute we have left of this show.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah i saw that. I love this show! I will miss it though
ReplyDeleteGlad that Abc is at least giving it some promotion before it ends. I'm going to cherish these last 3 episodes ever of the show. I will miss it a lot
ReplyDeleteI do hope the series finale will have a 30-second promo not a 15-second.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure Abc will give it a full 30 promo for its series finale, cause Abc always tends to give returning shows longer promos then usual for their series finales. With that being said, Its going to be for to not see Revenge on schedule this coming fall.
ReplyDeleteBah, can't watch any video on this page since some days.
ReplyDeleteOnly 3 episodes left of Revenge. I will miss this show. I'm sure the series finale is going to be epic.

I'm kind of sad for Emily VanCamp. I hope she finds something real quick. I could see her as a detective or something like that.
ReplyDeleteMe too! But seeing that she played in a Marval movie, she will have good chance to guest star in Agents of Shields next season. Nonetheless, I'm pretty sure Emily VanCamps will have a lot opportunities after Revenge. I mean she did a fantastic job as Amanda Clarke.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree
ReplyDeleteThree episodes left, I can't believe.
ReplyDeleteHave you seen this?

Read it, it is very impressive the comparisons!!!
I will watch her in almost everything she does. I would simply adore if she could join Shield though
ReplyDeleteYou should read this. The comparisons are very impressive.

ReplyDeleteI feel strange about it. I am sure I will watch it if it is picked up, but I was not expecting it to look so much like Revenge, it will be odd.
ReplyDeleteProbably! However, sallie patrick, who has written awesome episodes, is the writer and fil eisler will be doing thr music. That is awesome
ReplyDeleteYeah that is good. I am rooting or EVC to join Shield in the meantime.
ReplyDeleteI know this is TV and all but why would they give Ben that case? like wtf that's his ex and they're letting him handle that case lol. sorry but i just had to point that out
