———-
Note: The following labels are based on the household overnights and are subject to change given the availability of other pending data streams. The overnights are your first look at what to potentially expect when the other results come in. And we always take into account other benchmarks including the expected demographic ratings, potential DVR usage, the critical acclaim (or lack of) and the social media presence. Keep in mind, as always, that results for any live sporting event are always approximate.
-Winners:
“Dancing With the Stars” (ABC), “The Voice” (NBC), “NCIS: Los Angeles” (CBS)
-Modest but Still an Improvement:
“The Originals” (CW), “Jane the Virgin” (CW)
-Losers (excluding repeats):
“The Following” (Fox), “The Night Shift” (NBC)

Ratings Breakdown:
It was another Monday overnight household victory for ABC, which bested No. 2 NBC by an average of 34 percent. But that will not be enough to win the evening in the key young adult demographics, which will fall in NBC’s corner because of “The Voice.” “The Voice” finished second in the 8-10 p.m. block in the overnights with a 7.1 rating/11 share in households, which trailed “Dancing With the Stars” on ABC (#1: 9.8/15) by 28 percent. Both shows remain firmly established on the evening.
CBS, meanwhile, was below-average opposite the two reality/competitions with its 8-10 p.m. line-up of sitcoms “2 Broke Girls” (#3: 4.7/ 8) and “Mike & Molly” (#3: 4.9/ 8) and freshman drama “Scorpion” (#3: 6.0/ 9). But “NCIS: Los Angeles” on the Eye net dominated at 10 p.m. with a 5.9/10, which beat a repeat of “Castle” on ABC (#2: 4.0/ 7) and an original installment of sophomore “The Night Shift” on NBC (#3: 3.7/ 6) by 47 percent and 59 percent, respectively. Despite dipping by 48 percent from the 9:30 p.m. portion of “The Voice” (7.1/11), “The Night Shift” still managed to score its highest rating in five weeks.
Elsewhere, both “Gotham” (#3: 3.3/ 5) and “The Following” (#4: 2.4/ 4) on Fox were victims of the decreasing HUT levels, with “Gotham” slipping by 15 percent from “Bones” on the year-ago evening (3.9/ 6 on 4/14/14) and “The Following” down by 23 percent year-to-year (versus a 3.1/ 5). And The CW aired “The Originals” (#5: 0.9/ 1) and “Jane the Virgin” (#5: 0.8/ 1), which on average were 29 percent above the failed combination of “Star-Crossed” and “The Tomorrow People” on the year-ago evening. There is something to be said for a low bar of comparison!

About the Daily Ratings
Each day (except Sunday) during the main TV Season we post the TV Ratings for the previous nights primetime shows for the major broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC). Cable Network ratings will be added to the Ratings Database.
The first item that gets posted (normally around 2pm GMT) is the early overnight analysis based on the early household numbers (these are not the same as the Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers that are posted later).
Next, if available, we will post the Top 25 Market 18-49 Ratings to give you a rough idea of the ratings to following.
Later on (normally between 4pm-5pm GMT) we post the official early overnight Total Viewers and 18-49 Demo numbers in the table above (We also where possible now post the 18-34 and 25-54 Demo Numbers).
Finally, later in the evening (10pm-11pm GMT) or the following day, the final adjusted ratings numbers are released, these are then posted in the Ratings Database. The Final Adjusted numbers are what we use for all our Renew/Cancellation Tables, Full Season Tables, Ratings Scorecards etc (see below). Friday's Final Adjusted Ratings are normally available on the following Monday.

NOTE: CW was preempted in NY. Adjustments likely for the finals.
Tables being updated live. Please refresh for updates.
Terrible for The Originals and Jane. Spring is really starting to kill some shows.
ReplyDeleteJane got 0.35 last week, so i think it will sink to 0.3 this week :(
Ouch for Gotham
ReplyDeleteGood for DWTS
ReplyDeleteJupp and those have the NYC numbers in them don´t they? so the final adjustments will be even worse
ReplyDeleteOuch for CW
ReplyDeleteAnd they were preempted in NY
Failed to see how 0.9/1 and 0.8/1 can be anything other than a big looser. But marc is marc
ReplyDeleteYou know he has to spin things
ReplyDeleteWhat was the HH share last week for both of them?
ReplyDeletewe didn´t get the analysis from him last week
ReplyDeleteJupp this could be a 0.4 and 0.3 last week it was 0.48/0.35 and this week they loose NYC.
ReplyDeleteI hope Gotham doesn't fall too badly. I was expecting a 1.6
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it usually do a 4 in hh
ReplyDeleteohh thanks though
ReplyDeleteI really have no clue, I never follow the HH numbers, I have no relative notions of them.
ReplyDeleteOh Marc, you poor thing.
ReplyDeleteIs that HH lower than normal for Scorpion? I can't remember what it usually gets. Seems like FOX and CW did badly though.
It's last HH was a 4.2
ReplyDeleteI have to say, for a repeat Castle 4.0 in HH is very good.
ReplyDeleteYikes for Gotham, hope it gets about 1.7.
Did a repeat of Castle really beat an original The Night Shift or is that a TVMediaInsights error?
ReplyDeletePower of 9.8 lead-in. At least NBC will brag that TNS scored a 5 week high.
ReplyDeleteFOX jumped the gun in calling Gotham a hit too soon. Like most FOX dramas, once it gets going, it tends to collapse.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. That will be NBC's PR, but honestly, losing to a repeat is not good at all. Especially with that lead in.
ReplyDeleteExcept Empire
ReplyDeleteI honestly expected this fall for Gotham, I hope it rebounds like some shows do after week after they return after hiatus.
ReplyDeletePerhaps, but I think that Empire will fizzle out quickly also. Any show that is hyped to the degree that Empire received its liable to crash quicker than normal.
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you wait for the final numbers (or even the fast national) before making any kind of assumption where TNS lost to a Castle (R) or not?
ReplyDeleteGotham's fall was very predictable.
ReplyDeleteGuess we'll find out next season.
ReplyDeleteYou have to know that Gotham also avoided DST(it gone on hiatus on 2nd March and DST started 8th March I think), this is the 1st episode it airs since DST have started.
ReplyDeleteIf Empire keeps churning out these special guests, then they've lost me. I hated the season finale.
ReplyDeletewhich beat a repeat of “Castle” on ABC (#2: 4.0/ 7) and an original
ReplyDeleteinstallment of sophomore “The Night Shift” on NBC (#3: 3.7/ 6)
Because it's already written. No need to wait.
1st episode on DST,hiatus,completely agreed.
ReplyDeleteIn HH, yes. But what's true in HH isn't necessarily so in 18-49.
ReplyDeleteOuch, that looks like a big fall
ReplyDeleteWhy don't you let people discuss and ask questions that they want to in the comments thread. that's what it's here for.
ReplyDeleteAnd you feel the need to meddle because....?
ReplyDeleteBecause I'm the site owner and in charge. And I don't like it when other people think they have the right to tell others what to do.
ReplyDeleteAll valid reasons, but watching American Idol, Gotham was promoted non stop. So I think the show is at least partly to blame. It couldn't get viewers to return.
ReplyDeleteOh, you're the owner of the site. And in charge.
ReplyDeleteNow, that's just *wonderful*.
That's totally irrelevant though as those are just the HH numbers which have no bearing in the demos.
ReplyDeleteThings look pretty bleal for FOX
ReplyDeleteYeah,it skews very young, 8pm is very affected with DST and many young viewers arent there to watch.
ReplyDeleteNow, now. Don't tell people that.
ReplyDeleteYou'll be attacked for 'telling people what to do' (when I was merely advising them to wait before making any judgements).
Logic is lost on some people.
I agree with this entirely. I don't think it will be sustainable in the long run. The fact that they are burning through plot points as quickly as they are doesn't help either.
ReplyDeleteFOX tried to avoid Gotham from DST as much as they could,it really took a big hit.
ReplyDeleteSo we'll make the decisions about what and cannot be discussed on our site.
ReplyDeleteIf you don't like the rules, no one is forcing you to come here and read the comments.
I don't know what sort of expectations people had for Gotham's return. It's well past DST now and it's been off the air forever. I was/ am expecting a 1.6 and I would call a 1.7 actually solid and a 1.6 meh, but in no way bad. If it goes below 1.5 then yes.
ReplyDeleteIrrelevant in terms of demos yes. However, any show should not lose to a repeat in viewers, especially after the highest lead in.
ReplyDeleteFreedom of speech be damned!
ReplyDeleteOh, just wonderful. Wonderful. I hadn't realize that it wasn't within my ability to tell people to wait for more reliable numbers instead of jumping to conclusions based on HH, especially considering I didn't even offend anyone.
Oh, wonderful. I'll be sure to tell some dictatorship in the Middle East about your website.
They'd be delighted.
DarkUFO I have 1 question: In the final ratings(with adjustments) that are posted here there are never posted unscripted shows like TAR, The Voice etc., Why?
ReplyDeleteJane got a .35 last week? Ouch. Why did it still adjust up to a .4? Both times Reign got a .35, it adjusted to a .3. Does anyone know why there's a difference?
ReplyDeleteIt probably had 0.356 and reign 0.354
ReplyDeleteWe only cover Scripted Primetime shows on the site and in our Ratings Database. We don't have the time or inclination to cover reality/competition shows, sorry.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, it happens with a lot of sci-fi/comics show in general. Happened with AOS and Sleepy Hollow last year and now Gotham.
ReplyDeleteBut wouldnt 0.354 still be rounded to 0.4?
ReplyDeleteI didnt want to offend you like : boo SpoilerTV you dont post reality/competition shows final ratings , I was just curious. Thanks for the answer. :)
ReplyDeletelol yes i meant 0.346-0.349
ReplyDeleteHa, no worries :)
ReplyDeletehappy to answer questions/feedback
Yep, for some reason Marc was away or didn't post them
ReplyDeleteGotcha! So you think it rounded up from .34 to .35. I didn't realize ratings were followed THAT closely. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteIs there any chance left for The Following's renewal? This season has been really good,it would be a shame to see it go!
ReplyDeleteWith the current state of FOX's returning shows, who knows.
ReplyDeleteDWTS continues to look like to have held up.
ReplyDeleteIt matched its premiere HH
ReplyDeleteGame of Thrones ratings when?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was easily going to post a new high but since HBO hasn't issued a press release then maybe it disappointed.
ReplyDeleteWell, it doesn't really matter though. "Should not lose to" is pretty subjective since it depends on the goal. If the goal of a show is survival, then it is 100% irrelevant whether or not it looses to repeats in household numbers. If the goal is popularity, then yeah, I guess I can agree, but even then, is popularity an end in itself? To me it isn't.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, HH numbers are not the same as Viewer numbers.
It did a 4.0 😄
ReplyDeleteThanks @Alex S Do you have a link somewhere, I've not seen any Sunday Cable released yet
ReplyDeleteInterestingly in the UK it set a new record for Sky Atlantic, so the leaks haven't effected its ratings everywhere.
ReplyDeleteAs long as Gotham's finale is in 2+, it can still pull decent numbers next season.
ReplyDeleteShowbuzzdaily
ReplyDeleteAh cool, thanks. I must have missed it ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks, what a drop for Silicon Valley.
ReplyDeleteNo problem
ReplyDelete4.2 actually, no? That's great!!
ReplyDeleteOh excellent, get it broke into the 4 demo.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, I am worried for Silicon Valley, this is bad retention.
ReplyDeleteIt was renewed yesterday already.
ReplyDeleteReally,didnt see it,thanks! :D
ReplyDeleteWhy, it hit a series high?
ReplyDeleteGotham needs a time jump so they can recast the 11 yo Bruce. He is beyond awful and not believable. Too bad JPS couldn't have played Fish more like last night instead of chewing up the show. Won't miss her at all. The show is very disjointed and should have found its footing by now.
ReplyDeleteThey shouldn't have put Gotham on such a long hiatus. Hope demo holds up.
ReplyDeleteScorpion HH is consistent with 3 weeks ago when got a 2.0 so hopefully it can get about the same this week
Beyond awful? Based on your one singular opinion he should be recast? Wow. That's some ego.
ReplyDeleteI really like this Bruce; to each his own.
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, although I've grown to really enjoy the show and like it for what it is, I agree with the disjointed criticism. I am not as much bothered by it anymore and I think it helps in some episodes (like, if one story isn't as good, at least there is another good one to keep your interest) but I can see why it bothers most people.
I wonder why Marc suddenly decided to not put Scorpion as a winner but put LA. Probably is starting to become too young skewing for his taste; he only likes ancient skewing shows for the most part.
ReplyDeleteThis is my biggest complaint, it feels like the arc isn't defined enough. I have no idea where this season is headed as a whole and that bothers. We start, we stop, we start, we stop. endless cycle of stories that fizzle out.
ReplyDeleteYeah it makes no sense. Scorpion is up against way greater competition in terms of viewership and demo than NCIS LA, will get a better demo and has a higher HH. LA was only up against a Castle repeat and Night Shift. If you're gonna have LA as a winner then surely Scorpion should be too!
ReplyDeleteI think the main plot is still the destruction of the MOB mentality and crime that has taken over Gotham. That is Gordon's main story and purpose, it relates with everyone on the precinct, it connects with Bruce since he will probably find out ties from Wayne Enteprises with it and since their parents died due to it, and it connects with Fish and Penguin for obvious reasons.
ReplyDeleteWhat did The Originals get ?l
ReplyDeleteS4 Premiere was a Series High for the show 4.2 & 8m. I imagine a press release will follow later.
ReplyDeleteI understand what the main plot is, but it's not executed properly in my opinion because it's been a series of false starts in the actual progression of that story.
ReplyDeleteI get those complaints. I think the show suffers from pacing issues and I wasn't fully enjoying it during its first half, but I've grown used to it. But I understand why it would still bother others more.
ReplyDeleteYeah I've seen it since then ;)
ReplyDeleteI doubt I'm alone. And, he is horribly miscast - way too young and just not engaging enough. Contrast his performance to those around him - Cat and Alfred. The kid can't keep up - he should have shown some growth/comfort this many episodes in.
ReplyDeleteAh, I thought you might have, but thought I'd let you know anyway (just incase):)
ReplyDeleteThanks! ;)
ReplyDelete0.48
ReplyDeleteSilicon Valley is never going to retain much of GoT's audience.
ReplyDeleteHBO is not going to release daily ratings anymore on press releases.
ReplyDeleteBecause of the app?
ReplyDeleteAh, ok. Thanks for letting me know!
ReplyDeleteNope, they are doing it in favor of Live+7, apparently. They announced it a few months ago: http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/hbo-to-stop-issuing-overnight-tv-ratings-in-favor-of-live-plus-7-1201381962/
ReplyDeleteYou are welcome. You can read more about it here: http://variety.com/2014/tv/news/hbo-to-stop-issuing-overnight-tv-ratings-in-favor-of-live-plus-7-1201381962/
ReplyDeleteBTW: Did you get my email?
ReplyDeleteHow many viewers ?
ReplyDeleteGotham 1.5
ReplyDeleteSomething is rotten in the ratings of the CW.
ReplyDeleteThe movie one? Yep, I just checked.
ReplyDeletePreempted in NY
ReplyDelete1.5 for Gotham is not good
ReplyDeleteThe following 1.1
ReplyDeleteScorpion 1.9
Ncis 1.6
0.6 The Originals
ReplyDelete0.6/0.5 JTV
CW 0.6/0.6
ReplyDeletetns 1.4
ReplyDeleteI said 1.6, not that far off. It's normal I think. It had high 1s before DST hit, this was bound to happen.
ReplyDeleteThe Originals and JtV are te biggest winners of the night
ReplyDelete2BG 1.8
ReplyDeleteM and M 1.8
DWTS 2.1
I was so happy for a moment. I knew it was too good to be true.
ReplyDeletePreempted in ny
ReplyDeleteCW will go down in the final numbers way to high because of the baseball in NYC
ReplyDeleteFor a couple of hours maybe
ReplyDeleteMore than likely will adjust down though, those number look way too good to be true anyway.
ReplyDeleteWinners: Dancing with the Stars, The Voice, Scorpion
ReplyDeleteHonorable Mention: NCIS Los Angeles, 2 Broke Girls, Mike and Molly
Losers: The Night Shift, The Following
(CW not included since it is obviously preempted)
Still, it doesn't have much room to fall from now on. If it keeps declining it's going to be bad
ReplyDeletePreemptions
ReplyDeleteTNS has the best half hours in a while 1.5 /1.3
ReplyDeleteHalf Hours
ReplyDeleteScorpion 2.0/1.9
NCIS LA 1.6/1.5
Gotham 1.5/1.5
The Following 1.1/1.1
To put it into context... this ties the highest rated thing FOX has seen in weeks and that is without lead-in support, against the voice, at 8 post DST and after a damn long hiatus. If this is in risk of being bad, the entire FOX is. Look at their ratings:
ReplyDelete- Gotham/ Family Guy: 1.5
- American Idol: 1.4
- LMOE: 1.3
- Hell's Kitchen: 1.2
- Bones/ The Following: 1.1
- Backstorm, New Girl, Weird Loners, Friday Movie Night: Sub 1.0
1.118
ReplyDeleteOuch Gotham. What a drop!
ReplyDeleteDidn't know about that. I guess that's why they were up all of the sudden - especially JtV
ReplyDeleteDST hit it hard.
ReplyDeleteWhere does Gotham belong?
ReplyDeleteStill the highest rated thing on FOX now that Empire is over!
ReplyDeleteThat is not good for gotham. That hiatus hurt it
ReplyDeleteFading Fast
ReplyDeleteIt had a lot of things going against it
ReplyDeleteI'm sure that's what FOX will be putting in their ratings press releases :)
ReplyDeleteWhich is just sad. And it tied FG.
ReplyDeleteTo me, it's just an okay performance, not worthy of a particuar distinction. It fell to a new low so honorable mention is not suitable I guess but it's still the highest rated show on FOX sans Empire and the show came back from a huge hiatus in the midst of the spring when DST had hit hard. I think it did fine. I was expecting a 1.6, so a 1.5 isn't that far off.
ReplyDeleteNBC 2.8/2.9/1.4
ReplyDeleteNo, I disagree. It's just the long gap that's creating that perception. The show had not aired in the deep spring yet. If it had declined gradually like everything else you wouldn't probably feel that way.
ReplyDeleteYes, tied with FG, pending adjustments for one or the other. By the way, I never understand why sometimes we get the Sunday finals after the Monday prelims and other times not, so weird.
ReplyDeleteTNS is being stable now, is it getting better?
ReplyDeleteYep, I find that weird too/
ReplyDeleteFOX need Empire every day of the week the entire year..
ReplyDeleteThe CW is likely inflated. I hope The Originals gets at least 0.5 in the final ratings.
Great for Scorpion, hope it adjusts up again to stay at 2.0 though :) I called Gotham going this low before the show even started, it's sad though that that's high for FOX. CW will probably adjust down. Kinda low for 2BG but still good.
ReplyDeleteHighest rating scripted show in its time slot, FOX will be saying.
ReplyDeleteBut it is, it won't hit 2s for some time - maybe never again. It's not a loser, but it is disappointing considering it held on 2s for a long time during this season
ReplyDelete2.0/1.9 were its half hours same as the last week, hope it adjust up.
ReplyDeleteGotham near to Sleepy Hollow numbers :O Glad Sleepy Hollow is a midseason show and finished its second season on february.
ReplyDelete@omabin Have you been tracking the average % drop from DST at all. Just interested to see what the rough dropoff has been
ReplyDeleteYeah, SH would drop to The Following levels.
ReplyDeleteThat was before DST. I think people continue to understimate it. It essentially creates a totally different pattern and people keep being surprised with it when things aren't the same. That is especially true for 8pm shows. (This is not entirely directed towards you, more a general comment)
ReplyDeleteDear The Voice, please get back in the 3's. Quick.
ReplyDeleteYes. No spreadsheet with me now unfortunately but I will get back to you later! If I happen to forget, please remind me in tomorrow's ratings thread or something!
ReplyDeleteAtrocious for Gotham! FOX was asking for it by giving it a 1 1/2 month hiatus after DST with a terrible lead out against DWTS and The Voice.
ReplyDeleteLike I said, spring is hitting the show hard, especially the young skewing 8 PM shows.
Likely not happening Til the finale
ReplyDeleteCool, that's awesome :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I'm very curious to see it!
ReplyDeleteI get it, it's just that this spring it seems to have hit harder. I don't remember being that surprised at multiple new lows last season
ReplyDeletePoor Gotham!
ReplyDeleteCastle repeated really well.
ReplyDeleteAnd CW Mondays are doing really well. They have seemed to have fixed the once low-rated night. Hopefully they know what they have and dont mess it up by moving on of them shows.
FYI: CW was preempted in New York so there will likely be adjustments, probably downwards.

Way too young? He's playing a character in his own age group. Again, it's your OPINION that he's horribly cast. This is all subjective. Give it a rest.
ReplyDelete100% downwards
ReplyDeleteOh Jane, keep this way please!!!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Missed the first 15 minutes last night, and I'm not invested enough to go back and watch to see what I missed. But I'm keeping with it in hopes that the finale will tie things up in a way to make the second season better. If not, then I'll probably bail.
ReplyDeleteIf I were to bet, I think that the DST effect has been greater. In part, being able to DVR a show and watch later or streaming a show has become more common among all ages (even us old folks lol). Like when cable first came into being, it was a luxury - now it's commonplace (or being replaced by streaming services). That's the challenge for the broadcast networks.
ReplyDeletePlease, The Originals shouldn't adjust down :(
ReplyDeleteIt inevitably will, but it's already renewed, so it doesn't matter.
ReplyDeleteBetween werewolves and magical babies, I think the slip is deserved. Maybe they'll right the ship in season 3.
Kid Bruce was a dweeb, he only becomes engaging after his training, the casting's fine.
ReplyDeleteAccusing someone of being alone with his opinion and suggesting your own being the norm...well...now that's some ego as well. Guess you two could easily handle ego-reduction surgery. Or just you...
ReplyDeleteand its yours that he's not. Not that I'm agreeing or disagreeing but what you're doing is pretty much the same only in a way more aggressive manner
ReplyDeleteI'm generally not a fan of kid protagonists that grow up to eventually become popular heroes of mine. That's why I usually dislike origin stories, it's just a pet peeve of mine.
ReplyDeleteThere're only a few times that actually worked for me (Clark on Smallville and John Connor in T2)
While I was expecting more like 1.6-1.8, I'm not that surprise it returned low; especially considering Fox did its favorite thing and put it on hiatus for over a month. *rolls eyes* No matter what, though, it'll still more than likely be the highest demo-rated show on Fox this week.
ReplyDeleteI agree. Idol can rebound though (it isn't that far off and no Voice should help) but still, it should rate well relatively speaking.
ReplyDeletePeople whining about networks shows scheduling/hiatuses -first,it's been like this since around 2000.Shows with full seasons have 22-24 episodes to fill a 35 week season,so there's gonna be breaks.Shows take time to write, film, post production,preproduction.Actors/actresess need time off too just like everyone else. What are the networks supposed to do?Fewer episodes/shorter seasons like cable and people still complain about the between season & complain that 10-13 or so episodes is too short if a season. On the flip side, shorter seasons mean it takes shows longer to get to syndicationDo spilt seasons like cable/abc?People complain about the hiatueses in the middle of the season Full season?.Full seasons people complain thers too many breaks, too much filler episodes..The networks can't win with whatever they do.
ReplyDeleteBad for Gotham. Whenever any network allows its shows to go off for so long it takes this risk that their ratings will not be good. Maybe they will adjust up but not good. At least The Following went up a bit. Night Shift held steady which is good for it. Nothing else surprised me
ReplyDeleteNah Gotham's huge drop is because of quality not a break. If it was good and not the hammed up slopfest that it is it wouldn't have dropped half a point. All you had to do was look around on forums and social media after those episodes before the break people weren't coming back or weren't going to be watching live.
ReplyDeleteThat may be true but long layoffs never help. Its too bad if their quality has gone down because FOX needs a lot of help
ReplyDeleteOh it's you,
ReplyDeleteof course I'll say about anything as long as it insults your favourites....are you the anti-me or anything?
