  1. Probably watch it all at once, if I do.

  2. It thought it was interesting and has potential, but overall it was a bit lacking.

    - There were a lot of dialog-free closeups on a number of actors that left me wanting. Most fell flat to me. Maybe with different/ better actors I would have seen more in the performance or felt more from the scene.
    - The scenery was fabulous, but the production values felt cheap to me. Almost like a student film at times I guess.

That said, I did like the overall premise, or at least what I gleaned from the premiere. I think if the writing improves a little or the actors grow into their roles more it could be a decent series in the end.

  3. The premise really didn't interest me and I jus thought I'd check out the voting results before deciding whether to give it a look or not.... surprising number of awful votes.
I usually dismiss 1 or 2 as trolls but 4 awful with only 8 awesome is kinda discouraging but the awful votes haven't bothered to explain why - seriously if you're gonna vote awful have the stones to explain it or at least vote up someone else who has made similar remarks to your thinking.
Anyhow, I think I'll give this a pass.

  4. Hard to argue with any of that. I find it a very compelling plot, but it lagged in the middle of the episode somewhat. I get the feeling that they wanted the twist/reveal to be the cliffhanger at the end but then struggled to fill the 40 minute run time without giving it away beforehand. The sunny and gorgeous setting does little to help give the show a dark vibe either unfortunately.

I think the production is spot on for the people it's aimed at though, it's aimed at the teen market (BBC Three is purely a teen channel) which is probably why it feels a bit studenty I suppose.

  5. Not a bad start to the show, a little stilted in places but nothing major. The two leads did well together, though I have to admit to finding the slightly shady bar owner, Dries (Barry Atsma) a more interesting character - though I'm not the target audience, so that's probably my age showing tbh.

The tripping scene was well realised, which can be a very tricky thing to get right, especially on a cheap TV budget. I also like the music on the show.

  6. Aaah, okay...
I did not know BBC3 was more teen based. The show does seem shaded to that demo.

I will check out another episode or two if for no other reason to see the island scenery! XD

  7. The island is stunning isn't it, even the wooded areas are beautiful in their own way. The location team have done their work right, lol.

There's a few more twists coming up in the next episode. I think they are going to be eeking bits out slowly over time, which makes you want to tune in to see what's going to happen later.

  8. Good to know...
I don't think it will get to the level I was hoping for, but I think it could be light entertainment when I'm in the mood. Archive them and watch them on a rainy or snowy day when I wanna see some sun XD

  9. I know what you mean, it's such an interesting premise that I would have liked a darker overall vibe to it too. But it's entertaining enough in it's own way, and at least BBC Three are producing a drama again of some kind - although S3 of In the Flesh might have been nice :p

  10. True enough.
But I would have been ecstatic if they surprised me with second season of The Fades! XD

That may be the show I've liked most from BB3... at least I think ti was on BBC3...

  11. Yes, The Fades was wonderful too and again cut short before its time due to being not teenagery enough :( At least the actors did very well out of it, as have many of the Being Human lot - OUaT, GoT, Poldark, SHIELD & Banished to name a few of the shows they've gone to do.

  12. Indeed!
And I was just watching Johnny Harris in Fortitude moments ago... All in all, not a bad list of shows for those actors. Not bad at all!

    How is Banished?
I was going to check that out but lost track of it I guess...

  13. I haven't got round to watching Banished as yet, been so busy! I've heard that it's good, fairly bleak in places though, and there's been some complaints that it's too sexually violent. But for the time it's set in and the subject it's covering, I'm guessing that would be a given really...

  14. Thanks.
Maybe I will add it to the ever-growing archive I never catch up with! XD
